CHAPTER 8: Almost there
Wormtail watched the clock as the Potions Lesson was drawning near an end. He wanted to wait until class was done before he would attempt to get the right potion from Snape's collection. The only problem was Snape himself, obviously he wasn't going to let anyone into the storage room. And certainly not a random Gryffindor student. Luckily, Wormtail had thought up a plan. At the end of class, he would create a distraction. A bell rang, announcing the end of the lesson.
"That's it for today. I hope for your own personal sake that you learned something in this class, because I'm not intending to explain everything twice. Now get your books and leave," said Snape to his students.
While everyone prepared to leave, Wormtail took out his wand. His plan was simple. He would cast a spell on one of the other students as soon as they were outside of the classroom. If he used the right spell, said student would start feeling very ill and Snape would've have to be called outside to take that student to the hospital wing. During that time, Wormtail could sneak inside the storage room and get the right potion. Now, Wormtail was wondering on which student he could cast the spell. Casting it on one of Potter's friends would be satisfying, but he doubted that Snape would care about the health of a Gryffindor student. No, Wormtail realised it had to be a Slytherin. But which one? Then, he saw Pansy Parkinson nearby who was talking to some other female students.
Wormtail raised his wand, pointed it at Pansy and said: "Vomitus Extremis!"
Immediately, Pansy's face turned into a combination of yellow and green.
"Pansy? You okay?" one of her fellow classmates asked.
"I—I don't feel so good," responded Pansy. "I think I have to-"
Her sentence was interrupted by disgusting sounds and students screaming. Just as Wormtail expected, the doors of Snape's classroom opened up and Snape rushed outside.
"What's with all the noise?" he asked, upon which he saw Pansy, who was coughing up all her food from the last few weeks.
Snape rushed to her side and Wormtail just grinned and quietly moved over to the classroom and went inside.
At the Daily Prophet office, Nagini, still in the body of Barnabas Cuffe had summoned everyone to main meeting room for an announcement.
"Ladiesss and gentlemen of the Daily Prophet, I like to announccce that I am leaving thisss officcce," she began. Immediately, the whole room was complaining, claiming that this couldn't be true. That Barnabas shouldn't leave.
"EVERYONE BE QUIET!" Nagini yelled over the busy crowd, making everyone shut up.
She continued: "Thisss wasssn't an easssy decccisssion to make, but I have worked for thisss paper long enough and I want sssome peaccce and quiet."
"Who will be replacing you?" a man in the crowd asked.
"Rita Ssskeeter," responded Nagini.
"Rita Skeeter?" the man asked in surprise. "You can't be serious. She constantly spreads lies. She is a bad influence on this paper!"
"Ssshe may not alwaysss write the truth, but her articlesss sssell well. In fact, mossst of them are counted asss the bessst sssold articlesss thisss paper hasss ever produccced. Therefore, it ssseemsss that Ssskeeter is the right replacccement," Nagini said.
That and the fact that I don't need to be in thisss old man'sss body anymore, Nagini thought in her head.
"It's not right!" the man yelled.
"AND YOU DON'T QUESSSTION MY DECCCISSSIONSSS!" Nagini said loudly in a commanding tone. "ISSS THAT UNDERSSSTOOD?!"
The man shut up and nodded. A woman on the other side of the room asked: "When are you leaving?"
"Right now," Nagini responded and after these words she walked out of the room.
Wormtail had safely reached Snape's storage room and now he was looking for the right bottle. Then, he saw what he was looking for on a shelf above him. Wormtail jumped up, but it was too high to reach, so he jumped up, but still he couldn't grab the bottle.
"I'll guess I'll have to do this the magical way," Wormtail sighed and he took out his wand.
He pointed it to the shelf and said: "Accio, antidote!"
The bottle flew from the shelf straight into his hands. Wormtail smiled.
"At last," he said satisfied.
"What the hell are you doing?" a voice called out behind Wormtail.
Surprised, he turned around and dropped the antidote. Behind him, he saw Lavender and Romilda, but Wormtail didn't have time for them. He was more paniced now that he had dropped the antidote.
"No! NO!" he yelled in panic. "No, I need this. Otherwise, I can't be myself again."
"You okay, Angelina?" Lavender asked.
"What are you doing in Snape's storage room?" Romilda asked.
"Yes, I quite like to know as well," spoke a familiar voice.
Wormtail turned around and saw Snape coming from the other side.
"Why are three Gryffindor girls so interested in my collection?" Snape asked.
"Oh, great!" said Wormtail annoyed.
"Professor, we weren't doing anything. It's Angelina. She suddenly went back into the classroom, so we followed her," said Lavender.
"You shouldn't have done that," said Wormtail angry.
"Enough. All three of you come with me for detention," said Snape.
Wormtail was having quite enough of this. He quickly drew his wand, pointed it at Snape and the two other girls and yelled: "EXPELLIARMUS!".
Snape and the two girls flew back, hit the wall and fell down unconcious. Wormtail rushed out of the classroom. Luckily, the corridor was empty now, so he rushed all the way until he reached a cupboard. He pointed his wand to the keyhole.
"Alohomora!"
The door swung open revealing the real Angelina tied up.
"Alright, my potion has worked almost worked out and my plan failed, but I will let you go free," Wormtail said while untying Angelina.
"But I have one thing to do before I leave."
"Whatever it is, don't hurt me. Please." the real Angelina begged.
Wormtail grinned while he was putting the long black robes on again. Once he was done he pointed his wand at the girl. Angelina crawled back in fear.
"Please! Please, don't hurt me," she repeated, even more scared now.
Wormtail grinned and said: "Imperio."
Angelina's eyes went blank and she just stared at him, no expression on her face.
"Listen," Wormtail spoke. "You put your uniform back on and you go back to the Potions classroom. Once there, Snape will probably give you detention. You will accept that detention and claim that you did indeed steal from his storage room. Did you understand that?"
"…Yes…" replied Angelina in an entranced voice.
Wormtail felt how his hands were turning bigger and how his nails were growing again.
"Repeat to me what I asked you," Wormtail asked.
"I will put my uniform back on and go back to the Potions classroom. Once there, Snape will probably give me detention. I will accept that detention and claim that I did indeed steal from his storage room."
"Excellent," Wormtail replied before his voice changed back to Voldemort's. He watched as the girl left the room.
"I'm going to need another disguise, a better one."
Wormtail then heard footsteps and hid away as another trio walked past him. Wormtail saw them and smiled.
"Maybe it's time for me to re-join my old owner Ron Weasley again."
