Disclaimer: Naruto belongs to Masashi Kishimoto and TV Tokyo. Also, the plot for this story was based off an animated movie called Strange Magic that I saw on Netflix once, although of course it's filled with my own little twists.
Sasori
As soon as he'd seen Deidara surrounded by Orochimaru, he'd sent his men to attack. A small group had gone to retrieve assistance from Deidara's kingdom, and they had arrived a bit after. So here he was, clashing swords again a man who had formerly been a subject of his. Of course he didn't stand a chance, but another took his place as soon as he fell to the ground.
Still, he continued fighting. He had to reach him before it was too late. He found himself battling alongside Minato, and old rivalries were forgotten. As Sasori slashed as one attack, Minato sliced at another. Yet the kept coming, Suna nin after Suna nin. Not to mention there was the issue of Deidara being trapped in the middle with Orochimaru, a man Sasori despised more than anything.
"Minato, behind you!"
WIth Sasori's warning the other king was able to block the lethal attack, and the redhead was able to take him down. And by example, the soldiers of the Dark Forest and the Fairy Kingdom began to join together in their attacks. He could see Kisame working with a long-haired raven with onyx eyes, and Kakuzu was fighting with a foul-mouthed male with silver hair. Then there was Zetsu, working with a soldier with an orange mask.
"Why did you come here, Sasori?" Minato demanded as he cut down yet another enemy.
"He left me a note, and told me about the conspiracy about me. We searched the castle, and a bunch of my men along with all of Suna were missing. We figured they'd be on their way here," he replied.
"But why did you come?"
"They would be attacking my kingdom too, so we'd have a better chance if we teamed up."
"Is that the only reason?"
No.
"What other reason would there be?"
"I made a mistake, Sasori. It's my fault he ran away from the castle and got himself into this situation. He told me he was gay, and I told him he wasn't my son. All I could think of was the kingdom and it's future, and I forgot about my own son's happiness. He'll never forgive me, I really messed up."
"I'm sure he will," Sasori replied as he pulled his sword out from a Suna faerie's chest, "he's awfully forgiving."
"You care about him, don't you?"
"Not particularly."
Sasori ducked under an enemy's slash, and Minato reach over to slice their head clean off. The two kings fought their way through the mob, growing closer and closer to Deidara who was in the middle. But that's one Sasori saw it, the small bottle that had destroyed his life many years before. Memories resurfaced in his mind, as he saw Orochimaru removing a bit of dust from the bottle.
"He's got the love potion, he's going to use it on Deidara!" Sasori's panic began to rise.
"No... not my son..."
"There's a reason I keep that potion locked away, not just because I despise love. It ruins lives, and makes people weak."
"You love Deidara, don't you? You love my son?"
"I... I do..."
Minato swung his sword, beginning to block Sasori from the fight. The redhead knew what that meant, he began to sprint as fast as he could towards the middle circle. He had to break through it, he had to reach him! Orochimaru held the dust right above his eyes, and Sasori's heart began to hurt. That potion had taken his mother, and now it was taking Deidara too. He wouldn't deny it anymore, he'd tell the world. He'd love Deidara with everything he had, if the gods simply allowed him to save him.
"Deidara, no!"
The blonde's head turned, and Sasori caught his eyes. But to his surprise, a look of fear formed as he shrunk closer to Orochimaru. That bastard... What had he said to Deidara? What had he done to trick his blonde into whatever he was doing? That wasn't the Deidara he knew, that was a distressed boy who'd emotions had been played and who's mind had been twisted. Almost as if he'd been brainwashed. And as Orochimaru, leaning forward to whisper something in his ear, Sasori heard a final word.
"Goodbye, un..."
The dust touched his eyes, and the blonde's feet stumbled backwards. Orochimaru's laughter overpowered the thunder as Deidara's hands went to his eyes, and his body collapsed to the earth. A scream escaped the king's lips, as he cried out the prince's name. Yet, no answer was given to him. Only the sight of his blonde on the ground, and Sasori's anger was pricked. But when he got back up, he was no longer the blonde he knew.
The redhead desperately fought to get to Deidara, but when he finally faced Orochimaru... his heart felt as if it were breaking. For he saw his love clinging to the man he hated most like they were soulmates. Sasori lifted his sword to the pale man, but only moments later the blonde before him had drawn his sword. The redhead found himself frozen as he stared straight ahead, and his sword was knocked from his hand.
"DEIDARA!"
"It hurts, doesn't it? He belongs to me now, and there's nothing you can do about it."
"I won't let that damned potion destroy him!"
"You mean, how it destroyed your mother?"
Sasori was shocked at Orochimaru's words. Perhaps he was an older member of the kingdom, but no one knew about that. No one knew the full truth about what happened to his mother except himself, his father and... No. That wasn't possible. It couldn't be right, it couldn't! He didn't want to believe it, he didn't want to be right. But he couldn't ignore the facts, and it was the only logical answer.
"Finally figuring it out, huh? You're about 30 years too late."
"You were the one who dusted my mother all those years ago... You dusted my mother to make her fall in love with you! She refused my father because of you, she never would have done it if you hadn't dusted her. She loved my father, and because of you she was killed!"
"Face it. You couldn't save your mother, and you can't save Deidara. He'll kill anyone who harms me, and you can't fight back."
"You're entire army has been defeated, Orochimaru. Give up," Minato hissed.
"Perhaps, but I still have one advantage. You can't kill me, unless your willing to kill your son first."
The battle was at a stand still, and Sasori felt his heart throbbing as he stared as the younger blonde in front of him. Sasori didn't know what to do. Minato barked a couple orders, but Sasori couldn't hear them. The fairies that had teamed up with his friends stepped forward along with an orange-haired male covered in piercings to fight the blonde. Orochimaru only laughed as he drew his own sword, beginning to take down all those that approached him.
"Sasori, are you ready to team up once more?"
"I'm going to kill that fucking bastard!"
And the kings charged forward, metal clashing against metal. Cries of battle sounded and Sasori continued to slash, yet his gaze kept on traveling from his fight to his blonde who was defending himself against his own opponents. Slash. Metal hit metal as Minato's sword caught the attack, pushing Orochimaru back from hitting the lethal blow on Sasori. Yet the redhead could not focus.
"Sasori, stay with me! I can't win this alone. I'm worried about him to, but there's a reason I sent that group to fight him. They're Deidara's best friends, and they love him like a brother. They'd never hurt him, not unless there was no other choice. They'll do everything they can to keep him from harming anyone without hurting him. Once we defeat Orochimaru, we can fix him."
Sasori nodded and his mind joined the battle once more as the took on Orochimaru. Cut. Slash. Dodge. Cut. Slash. Dodge. Patterns occurred as the two kings fought against the remaining leader. And finally, a lethal blow. As Orochimaru was knocked down, battle cries were heard from all around. An ambush, as another wave appeared. They fought off all attackers, whilst others went to Orochimaru's rescue. The male simply stood, knocking on the armor that had protected him.
"I'll let you win this fight, but I will be back stronger than ever. Take your blonde, but you'll never truly get him back."
With that, Orochimaru made his escape and the members of the Dark Forest and the Fairy Kingdom were left in the rain. Deidara had been immobilized by the group that had fought him, and he had been stripped of his weapons. It broke Sasori's heart to see him like that, as he fought and screamed for Orochimaru. He had 'fallen in love' with that scum, but where did that leave Sasori?
"There is a cure, you know."
And all heads turned at the voice, as Chiyo walked alongside the newcomer. Sasori was shocked at the sight of her, as she walked directly towards the blonde. Her purple monarch wings stood strong behind her, and her amber eyes were fixated on the dusted heir. All eyes were on the Sugar Plum Fairy, as everyone desperately searched for answers. She turned, and her voice carried across the two armies.
"The potion is created to force people to fall in love, and a part of my being in in each bottle. I can't wake him up, but I can send someone in who can. I can use a spell, that will allow one person to enter his mind with a kiss. However, there's a catch. Only a person who loves him can enter, and only a person he loves can wake him up. And I don't mean family love, I mean true love," Konan explained.
"So... we can save him?" Minato questioned as his gaze turned to Sasori.
"Possibly, but there's a problem."
"What problem?" Naruto demanded as he stepped forward.
"From what I can tell, Orochimaru fucked with his head before he got dusted. Perhaps he was in love before, but I can't tell. Normally, my powers allow me to tell whether or not the person is in love but his mind is clouded. It's like he hasn't made up his mind."
"So... even if I go in there I may not be able to wake him up?" Sasori murmured.
"It all depends on whether or not he loves you, are you ready?"
It was stopped however, by protests from both sides. Neither side believed it, neither side thought Deidara could love him. And neither side thought he could truly love Deidara. But Minato brought the protests to a stop, before he turned to face the redhead. Sasori's heart was pounding from the pressure, and fear. What if he didn't love him? What if he couldn't wake him up? What would he do then?
"Sasori, there's one more thing."
"What is it?"
"This spell will put both of you under a deep sleep. If he doesn't love you, then you won't wake up either. You'll both die."
"So, if he doesn't love me... I'll die?"
"I don't know how long it will take, but you'll both be breathing at first. However, if at any point he says he doesn't love you, then you'll die."
The redhead only nodded and approached the blonde, Konan gently blowing a strange blue dust over his eyes. All eyes moved to the redhead, and he simply stared at the blonde's lips. Deidara's angry eyes glared back at him, but he didn't let them fool him. They didn't belong to his blonde, no. His blonde was inside. So he connected his lips to Deidara's and his eyes slowly closed.
The sound of the rain went away, as did the thunder. When his eyes opened once more, he was in a meadow. The grass was a bright green, but it was barely seen under the many flowers. It was strange, a place where he was large than the grass and the flowers and the bugs. In fact, he noticed that his wings were gone as well. Then he saw him, his blonde hair blowing in the wind.
"Deidara!" he called out.
The prince turned, his blue eyes landing on the redhead. Yet they seemed distant, or clouded over. There's was no recognition in his eyes, in fact he looked as if he had no idea who Sasori was. The redhead slowly moved forward until he was directly in front of Deidara, the blonde simply remaining still. His heart hurt to see him like this, but he knew he had to wake him up. He had to...
"Who are you, un?"
"My name is Sasori Akasuna."
"I feel like I've heard that name before, but I can't remember, un."
"Don't worry, I'm here to help you. I'm going to take you away from this place."
"But I like it here. If I stay here, then I get to be loved. Can't you feel it? All the love, un?"
"It's not real, Deidara, that's not real love. But I can take you somewhere where there is real love."
"But... what if I don't know what real love is, un?"
"People there can teach you. You have a mother, a father, a brother, a sister and so many friends that care about you."
"But... they only care for me. They don't love me, un?"
"They love you Deidara, they do."
"But it's not the right kind of love. That's family love, and friend love. It's different. If I stay here, I get love love."
"If you leave, you get family love, friend love and love love."
"But... how do I get that kind of love if no one loves me, un?"
"You stupid brat, I love you."
"But... I don't know you. How can someone I don't know love me, un?"
"Because you do know me, you just shut it out. Let it in Deidara, you have to let yourself remember."
"I can't. I can't remember, I don't love y—"
Sasori cut off the sentence with a kiss, but the blonde immediately began to pull away. The redhead could see both of their bodies glowing, and he knew he didn't have much time. He placed his hands on Deidara's shoulders, and the blonde looked up towards him in surprise. He had to make him remember, he had to remind him. If he could get Deidara to remember him, then he would have a chance. But he was running out of time.
"I know you can remember, Deidara. What's the first word that comes into your head when you see me?"
"Danna... Why, un?"
"That's what you called me, don't you remember?"
"Danna... Why did I call you that, un?"
"I told you to, we didn't meet under the best circumstances, but then I got to know you. I can take you somewhere filled with more love than you could ever imagine, surrounded by people. But you have to let me love you."
"You... really love me, un?"
Sasori's answer was pressing his lips to Deidara's, and after a couple seconds he felt the blonde begin to return it. When he finally pulled away for air, he felt a pair of arms suddenly wrap around his waist. The redhead automatically returned it, holding his beloved blonde close. He dug his face into his hair, and begged that he'd remembered. He knew he'd made mistakes in his life, he'd been a bad person. But he could become good, but only if he had his brat with him.
"Danna, thank you for coming to save me. I love you. I love you, I love you, I love you, un."
Sasori only clung to the blonde boy, not able to let go. He could only murmur how much he loved him over and over, at their glowing bodies became brighter. Deidara looked up slightly, and the king could see the fear in his eyes. He wanted to console him, but he couldn't. Were they going to die? Perhaps Deidara loved him now, but he'd said it before. He'd said he didn't live him before he remembered. Was that enough to kill them? Sasori only had one thought going through his mind as a light so bright filled his vision that he felt as if he'd go blind.
Please, let us live...
