Chapter 2: Airplane Hazards
First stop, the check-in line.
You really gotta believe that no matter and what time you ever arrive at the airport, there is always going to be a large amount of people. The good thing is though that since this wasn't on a holiday, so there was less people there than last time but still, I'm still surprised at how many people visit the airports globally DAILY.
Our suitcases weren't as heavy as last time thankfully, so we were able to get past the scale that was at the end of the check-in line.
After we managed to get to the front of the line, we took our coats and shoes and put them in the plastic bins which are then loaded onto the security conveyor belt. Before Manny was about to enter the ride when he thought that the airport changed it, he was a little disappointed to find out that nothing really changed that much. Good thing Mom held him back before he could even attempt to jump into a plastic bin.
We got past the security machine, and we had TENS of minutes to spare. At first, I thought that maybe the seats at the terminal would be probably around half empty, but I was surprised to find out that more than Three FOURTHS of all the seats were filled.
Luckily Dad managed to find a clump of empty seats that is close to the windows, so we went over to the clump seats that were empty.
"This is going to take a while." I muttered to myself as I plopped down on an empty seat.
"Relax Greg." Rodrick smirked as he sat down and got in his lounging style position. How did I even know that? "We have a few extra minutes to spare, why don't you look around?"
"What do you mean look around?" I asked.
"I don't know. Spare change or money or something. Which is something that YOU lack of." He smirked back.
"Yeah, ha, very funny!" I growled back. "At least I have a keen sense for them!"
"Last time I checked, I don't remember coins having a strong scent that can be sniffed feet away, but I guess you're right. Having a beggar sense is really cool huh?" Rodrick replied back.
"Why you little!" I said back. Rodrick took out his phone from his pocket, put on his earbuds, and started listening away to some of his jamzs. While I am just stuck here not knowing what to do.
EVENTUALLY…
It was time to stat entering the airplane. I walked glumly as I pulled my suitcase down the hallway with the rest of my family. I really was half hoping that the plane would crash-land down to the ground after I brought up with the tickets.
Our baggage wasn't as heavy as last time though, so this time around we were allowed to bring it on the plane. After we arrived on the plane, it was really no surprise to us when Dad decided to stay at the First-Class again because of all of his frequent flier miles.
Unfortunately, that meant that the rest of us had to go over to Economy again. At that point, I was really hoping that I would sit next to Manny or Rodrick or something.
I mean, last time when I had to sit next to this couple who had this baby who was just acting like bonkers all the airplane ride way. I don't way to face THAT again for a whole another SIX hours.
I looked down at the number of the seat that was on the ticket.
Seat number 27
I went over to number twenty seven and immediately realized that it was completely empty over there.
However, I still had a thought that maybe someone else was soon to be sitting there, so when I sat down, I cautiously looked around to make sure that no one else sits at the seat.
A few minutes later, I could see some people walk by my seat and some were very CLOSE, but thankfully no one seemed to sit next to me.
All of a sudden, just as I heard the plane's doorway close, ANOTHER family bolted inside panting. I gulped. This happened last time. Was this going to be another Déjà vu?
"Sorry we're late!" the man I was assuming the Dad gasped. As you know, we are kinda slow with running through terminals with crowded amounts of people…"
Crowded amounts of people? Now wait. The last time I went through the terminal, there wasn't that much of a crowd more over amounts of people.
The family started heading towards my seat. I gulped.
"Please no…" I prayed. "Please don't let them sit here…"
Because just like last time, they had a freaking Baby with them!
"Hey uh… this is our seat right?" said a kid with freckles and wearing a red cap. He was about to motion his family over to a few seats in front of me, and for once, I was satisfied with where I was sitting in the airplane.
"No Anthony, we sit a couple seats back." Said what looked like to be the Mom.
"Oh great. Don't sit here…" I muttered to myself. All of that hope was shredded completely!
The kid, Anthony was closer and closer. I didn't know what to expect, but the next thing I heard just pretty much ruined airplane experiences PERMANENTLY for me.
"You mean next to that wimpy kid over there?" Anthony pointed towards me.
"That's right." His Dad said, and from my experience, I hoped he didn't mean that part of agreeing to the wimpy kid part.
"Psst. Mom!" I urgently whispered to my Mom who was sitting with someone else, but at least she was the closest to the aisle so I could exchange communication to her without experiencing that much of an embarrassment.
"Yes Greg?" she asked calmly.
"Can I sit up near the front?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not." She said. "But don't worry. You were fine last time!"
"No I wasn't!" I said, before feeling someone's presence besides me. I slowly turned towards the left. Anthony was smirking towards me.
"You look even more wimpier up close." He said.
"Hey!" I growled back, before all of a sudden, the plane announcements started. It was a bunch of blah blah blah, and then after that we had to watch the safety video in the back of the chair that was in front of us.
For some strange reason, the video seemed very familiar, which didn't make sense to me. I mean, I am sure there are people who travel very frequent, so I would assume that it would be a pain for them to keep on watching the same video over and over again.
But that being said, no one I see ever watches the videos anyways.
After I saw Mom put her phone into Airplane Mode, I was about to talk to her again, when all of a sudden, you have Rodrick ruining everything again.
"Aw… does little Gregory want to sit with Dad?" Rodrick smirked.
"You shut up." I growled back before all of a sudden, even Anthony was on my case!
"So your name is Gregory? There can't be another name wimpier than that."
"Are you keep going to use the title of wimpy at me?" I sighed towards him.
"Why not? Doesn't it suit you fine?" he asked.
"Okay, now you are really starting to get on my nerves." I glared my eyes at him.
"Oooh, looks like someone is getting angry now!" he started to laugh. At the moment, I could feel the airplane starting to move, but that didn't matter right now. Not when there is this stupid conversation in the way.
"Is your job really to get on the nerves of people?" I asked.
"No. But wimpies make an exception." He smiled evilly at me.
I rolled my eyes and I looked away, only to see the runaway started to blur before me! My eyes widened, but before I tried to look away, Rodrick wouldn't seize his chance to just look at the satisfaction and surprise on my face.
"Googly Eyes huh?" Rodrick said.
"S-Shut up!" I stammered before turning back, only to slam face first into the seat in front of me! Anthony burst out laughing.
"Something wrong son?" his Dad said. He sounded like he was sitting in the seat in front of me!
"Oh nothing. It's just that someone got Chaired in the Face." Anthony giggled.
"Oh dear. I hope it wasn't too bad." I heard his Mom say from the front of Anthony's seat. Anthony looked towards me and then smiled.
"Nah. It wasn't."
I groaned in annoyance, before finally deciding that maybe I should just try to read out of this. So I picked up a magazine from the chair's back in front of me and started reading it. I expected it to have that useless junk advertisement and I was right.

On top of THAT, Anthony's Dad adjusted his seat back even further, which was crazy to me, considering how we didn't even reach our CRUISING ALTITUDE yet.
I was forced to slump into my seat, while Anthony adjusting his seat back like no problem. He smirked at me, before he started playing with his phone, which I was pretty sure he didn't even put Airplane Mode on.
Finally when the pilot announced that we were free to move about in the cabin due to the plane in Cruising Altitude, I quickly unbuckled my seatbelt and headed straight for the bathroom, which was the only place where I did have some space to myself just like last time. I didn't know how long I stayed in there, but when I was just about to fall asleep, I heard some urgent knocking.
I was too sleepy to make some more bathroom noises, so I lazily opened the door; a man quickly rushed in and closed the door behind him quickly, leaving me outside dazed.
Somehow I had the faintest feeling that he didn't even make it before he reached the toilet.
I managed to find my way back to my seat, though I couldn't stand being scrunched to the back of my seat, so I looked around the bottom of Anthony's Dad's seat, and found that lever that you could adjust to the seat to have it lowered backwards or forwards.
I took a deep breath, before adjusting the lever forward the slightest as possible.
All of a sudden, the chair when forward all of a sudden violently, causing Anthony's Dad to slam face first into someone's head, who apparently was a woman who was sitting in front of his chair.
I got in my seat as fast as I could and hoped that no one saw what just happened. I could hear the woman shouting, two flight attendants rushing over, and Anthony, Anthony's Mom, and Anthony's Dad try to resolve the conflict. The baby, who I thought was one of the quietest of the babies in the world, all of a sudden started bawling like crazy, which made it really hard for the passengers around their radius to concentrate on whatever they might be doing.
I went to sleep but I couldn't help by smile a bit.
"Greg? Greg! The flight's over! Let's go!" Mom was shaking me as I slowly opened my eyes.
"How long has it been?" I mumbled.
"Just an hour. Maybe two. Aunt Gretchen and her boys are waiting for us!" Mom said, before taking down my baggage from above. I was glad for once that the airplane ride was over. When I looked to my left, Anthony was gone, so I was glad that it was dealt over with.
I blinked my eyes as I walked out of the airplane with my family bracing for sunlight, when there wasn't. I opened one eye, when only instead of the sun, I saw the moon instead!
"She's around here somewhere." Dad said before checking his watch.
My family went to the shuttle bus station, waiting for the shuttle bus to pick up us, when all of a sudden, we heard a cheerful voice.
"Hey there Susan!"
I along with my family turned towards Aunt Gretchen and her boys, but what I saw them wearing shocked me, from the looks of Malcolm and Malvin, they were actually SMILING.
Hope you all enjoyed this chapter! I am really hoping that I could frequently post more chapters, and hopefully you found this worthwhile more appealing! It may not be as humorous as the first, but hey. In the future chapters, that's where all the good stuff happens...
