Here's the next chapter. I am sorry it took almost a year for this to update.

Disclaimers: I don't own TMOSH yadda yadda

Warning: If you have already forgotten about the story, read from the first chapter. Sorry, I dunno how to summarize.

Conflicting Thoughts

"What are you doing here?" I asked as I stared at the person by the door. He was wearing that smug grin that you would not see at school, his facade as a student council president is not even noticeable with the heavy smell of cigarette smoke coming from him.

"What, am I not allowed to visit my boyfriend?" He asked, showing the basket of fruits and a bouquet that he handed to Koizumi directly, who at the sight of him turned slightly red.

All of us (with the exception of Nagato) were surprised by what he said. Boyfriend? Whose? Koizumi's?!

Before we could even react he reached for Koizumi's chin and tilted his face towards his, giving him a kiss. Koizumi appeared flustered after he let his face go, with his trembling fingers touching his lips lightly.

"Babe, did you miss me?" Akira, that asshat, asked Koizumi. Koizumi was unable to answer, and Haruhi was already in a mood to ask him more questions than a single average person could answer. But Akira, noticing this, hushed Haruhi and asked the two of us to go outside, leaving Koizumi to Asahina-san and Nagato.

He led us to the rooftop and started to smoke a cigarette, after which he turned to us.

"I know you have a lot of questions," he said, puffing out smoke in the process. "Like why the hell does Koizumi think that I am his boyfriend, and why did he forget Kyon and I replaced him all of a sudden?"

Well, we do have a lot of questions but those were the first.

We waited in silence for his answer, however he has already finished his first cigarette and no answer was still given. Haruhi, being the impatient person that she is, stomped angrily and grabbed his collar.

"Look here, we need answers and followed you here. However you kept on smoking that cancer-filled stick without speaking a word for more than five minutes. You gonna tell us the reason or not?"

Akira smiled as he continued to smoke.

"No, I won't. It's up to you to find out how and why this all happened. After all, you're the SOS Brigade. I'm pretty sure you can investigate how and why all these things happened."

He pried Haruhi's hands from his collar and walked away as the last embers of his cigarette fell into the ground and was crushed by his foot. Haruhi did not even try to follow behind him as she looks a bit determined amidst being worried still.

"Kyon," Haruhi suddenly spoke, which surprised me a bit.

What was it?

"I know for a fact that Akira-san wasn't Koizumi-kun's partner. I do know for a fact that we've never had him in our brigade. I know it is not right for me to be excited at a time like this, but, this is an event worth investigating, is it not?"

I knew it. The old Haruhi is back.

"Yes, we could investigate to your heart's content on this one. And I know the other girls will gladly help you with this one."

Haruhi smiled at my words, and she walked away while humming to herself, telling me that she needs to be alone to think about a plan to make Akira spill the beans. And I am not going to stop her, not now when she is determined to get Koizumi's memories back.

Just this once, I will not hold her back.

"Kyon?"

I turned to Haruhi who suddenly was behind me while I was arranging some of Koizumi's things before he is released from the hospital. I stood up and walked towards her.

"What was it?" I asked, my hand instinctively grabbing hers.

She hesitated to respond, thinking about what she would say next.

Before she could speak the door opened and Akira walked in. He smelled strongly of cigarettes, and his glasses hung in front of his shirt. Behind him was Koizumi.

"Oh, did we interrupt something?" Akira asked, his eyes moving to mine and Haruhi's interlocked hands. Haruhi jerked her hand away and smiled forcefully, and changed the subject into something about the food that we will be eating.

We all have talked about Koizumi and Akira thought it best that he stay with him at his apartment for the time being. As we also have some free time before the new school year start, Haruhi was able to persuade the landlord to let the four of us stay as well. The girls will be staying in the empty apartment beside Koizumi's, and us three guys will be at Koizumi's apartment. I retaliated at this setup, knowing full well that Koizumi thinks that Akira is his boyfriend, and not me.

Akira never knew how to hold back from showing how in love him and Koizumi are, especially when the SOS Brigade are around. I found it weird that he tend to touch Koizumi more when Haruhi is around.

But Haruhi has grown more silent now that Akira and Koizumi became a thing. There are times that I catch her just gazing at nothing, and sometimes I catch her looking at the two of them with that sad look in her eyes. It was as if she wanted to say something, but is holding herself back.

We eventually had to leave the two of them when classes resumed in spring. Haruhi and Nagato-san occassionally visits them with presents, and sometimes Asahina-san and Tsuruya-san as well. But I never did. There is still something inside of me that does not want to really get involved with the two.

However, we all talked about going to Koizumi's apartment once the summer break starts, which we did. One day, only me, Koizumi, and Akira were left at the apartment. All the girls were out shopping for ingredients for dinner as it would be our last day of stay. Koizumi was busy cooking some of the party food that he has ingredients for. As I am of no help with the cooking process, I left him on his own.

I noticed Akira on the balcony and decided to talk with him. Or maybe get additional information about his involvement in this mess. Or why the hell Koizumi thinks that he was his boyfriend and such. I need answers.

"Hey," I tapped Akira, who was smoking, on his shoulder. He beckoned me to sit beside him.

Neither of us spoke until the last cinders of his cigarette fell to the ground.

"Are you going to talk to me about Koizumi?" He then said

"Actually, it was the Organization who made all of this happen, with Koizumi forgetting you and stuff."

How was I not surprised about this development.

I had turned all of my attention to him as he started talking, but he noticed it and stopped chattering, instead he lit up a new cigarette and changed the topic. Well, kind of.

"You all know for a fact that Koizumi and I were never together." He said, cocking his head to the direction where the others were. "Yet surprisingly you all never oppose it. It's kinda funny yet stupid."

Angered by his words, I almost retorted to his words, but nothing came to my mind that is even remotely smart.

"You don't even say anything to defend yourselves." He smiled as he put out his second cigarette which he never smoked. "You know, this wouldn't have happened if you never fucked Koizumi. You know full well that Haruhi likes you. If only you were never indecisive to begin with, we will never be in this position. I would have wanted to marry a pretty girl and have a few kids of my own, but lo and behold, now I'm fucking a dude and I'm even acting as his lover. And you made me waste a good cigarette, just because you're a sorry excuse for a person."

I was unable to say anything back to him, as I know full well that everything was my fault. I thought everything would work well with Koizumi, but I have always liked Haruhi, and maybe I just made him think that our relationship would work out.

"Good thing Koizumi looks great whenever we have sex. He's tight. Goddamn I never knew fucking a guy would be great."

I snapped at how nonchalant and apathetic he was when talking about Koizumi. Even if he is just someone who took over my place in his memories, it still angers me how unapologetic he was towards his words directed at Koizumi.

"What? Are you pissed that Koizumi's hole is mine to fill now?"

I punched him as he said that. He was disrespecting Koizumi. The Organization should not have chosen a bastard like him to become Koizumi's partner! Why would they?

And it dawned on me - they are making sure that Koizumi's life would be miserable for what he did.

As soon as Koizumi peeked at the two of us he saw me punch Akira and immediately went to his side. He turned to me with anger-filled eyes as he helped Akira to his feet towards the apartment.

"Kyon-kun, I don't know why you're doing this, but please, stop." Koizumi pleaded with a trembling voice. He was trying to hold back his tears.

Koizumi asked me to leave, which I was more than happy to do. I was fuming with anger at how Akira treats Koizumi, and how Koizumi is stupid enough to let him be that way.

I know I am in no place to feel like this, when I did the same thing to him.

And thus, our third summer break has ended.

ゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴゴ

"Are you sure about this?"

Nagato's quiet voice seemed like a shout inside the silent hospital room. We have already talked about the situation, and the Organization has debriefed her about what they wanted.

"They are sure about what they would like you to do." I replied, trying to look away from her piercing gaze. "The hospital staff already knows about this and they have told him about what role he would play, and he agreed wholeheartedly."

At the corner of the room, someone coughed, and a calm yet irritated voice spoke up.

"If it wasn't for the pay I would not have accepted it, you know?" Akira said. "You know full well that I rely on the Organization for my own extra cash."

"It's always a pleasure to work with you," I smiled at him, knowing full well what will happen to our relationship once Nagato-san is done. "Please take care of me from now on."

The man at the corner of the room crossed his arms in front of him.

"If it wasn't for the benefit of the world, I would not have accepted it." He scoffed. He was instructed to follow as closely to the plan that the Organization has laid out. I might have not known Akira for a long time but he is known to act his part when needs to be, regardless if it meant hurting someone in the process. That is how dedicated he is to his word.

My head hung low as I thought of all the people I'm dragging down with me due to my actions. As soon as I woke up Nagato-san has alerted Mori-san and Arakawa-san. They informed me what my actions had done to Haruhi-san's state of mind. The Closed Spaces are varied in size and number each day, with some of them nothing but just Celestial Beings standing around, doing nothing. They think that the things are turning for the worse, especially with Haruhi-san blaming herself for everything that has happened to me.

They told me that the only way we could force Haruhi-san back to her old state is to make me forget all about Kyon and think that the reason why I tried to kill myself was because Akira had cheated on me.

I should have just died than go through this.

Once more I turned to Nagato-san. She said that she will try to use Haruhi-san's power while her will is weak. She said that it will be just like what happened on the Christmas when the SOS Brigade was still complete and Kyon was the one hospitalized and not me.

What happened that Christmas was Nagato-san had managed to overwrite the entire timeline in order to create a perfectly ordinary SOS Brigade. In a way, it is crazy to know how much power Nagato Yuki could possess if she means to.

"It's only my memories of him that will get overwritten, is that correct?" I asked, knowing for a fact that Nagato-san is not the type to make mistakes. However, I was trying to get more time to make myself ready over the ordeal that I will undergo.

"Affirmative." She replied immediately, shutting down my further plans of diverting the execution of the plan at a later time.

She had given me barely enough time to gather my thoughts before she turned to me to give her the go signal.

As she grabbed something inside her jacket, all my memories with Kyon flooded my mind. "Ah," I thought, "this must be how it feels like to die." And all started going black before I even felt the needle pierce my skin and that sensation of falling.

And silence.

To be continued

A/N: Okay I think a lot of questions are arising, like "WHO THE FUCK IS AKIRA?! YOU DID NOT UPDATE IN FOREVER AND YOU SHOVE A NEW CHARACTER IN THE SECOND TO THE LAST CHAPTER?"

Um, hehe sorry. To everyone who read the light novels, there was a student council president who was introduced. I cannot remember his name or if he has a name, but he was employed by the Organization in the suggestion of Itsuki in order to fulfill Haruhi Suzumiya's wishes of having an archetypal nemesis. And if you remember the very first student that became SOS Brigade's customer (the gf of the computer club member who was missing for a few days) was actually part of the student council. He was not being given money though, but high grades.

So um, the next one will be the last chapter :) For now, pece!
