Whoops. Not a chapter, but almost (sorta-not) as good, eh? This is the personal playlist straight from the dragon's mouth. Each song I think fits well with the story, the line that's significant, and a little blurb from yours truly.

The Playlist

1. Sleep - The Dandy Warhols

"Well I could sleep forever/ But it's of her I dream/ If I could sleep forever/ I could forget about everything"

This song belongs to the first part of the story - looking back on the past, dreaming of her. Originally Alex was going to doze/daydream and replay their first meeting, but it was clunkier than what I decided to put there, so bye bye it went.

2. Bang Bang - K'naan ft Adam Levine

"Then she aimed at my chest with love in her eye/ I said she aimed at my chest with love in her eye."

I was looking for something fast paced and catchy for the school scene. This helped me write things snarky but still down-to-earth. Plus, it helped me stay awake.

3. The Navesink Banks - The Gaslight Anthem

"My first sin was a young American girl"

Straightforward; Cecilia is Alex's sin. Without her there, none of this would've come to be.

4. Rich Girl - Gwen Stefani Ft Eve

"If I was a rich girl/ I'd have all the money in the world/ If I was a wealthy girl"

The song Cecilia sings after her shower. I absolutely hate this song, but I know every word. I figured I needed an annoying song, and this was it.

5. Dammit - Blink 182

"You'll show up/ and walk by/ on the arm/ of that guy/ And I'll smile/ and you'll wave/ we'll pretend/ it's okay"

"I guess this is growing up"

Growing up sucks. So does stumbling through your teenaged years pretty much obsessed with a girl who's sleeping with other guys

6. Smell of Familiar - Big 10-4

"Take that back while you're standing there/ The frozen words stuck in mid air"

Cecilia's confession. Great band. Look them up on iTunes.

7. When it All Falls Down - Alana Grace

"When it all falls down/ And shatters on the ground/ When your world comes crashing in"

This is more for Cecilia, although she didn't get anything from her point of view. Her world did fall down; she lost Alex after she admitted she wasn't happy trapped by her obligations to him.

8. Half Pain - Bana

A double application:

"Tatoeba dokomade modorebaii? Oshiete/Subete wa Itami wo tomonauhodo azayaka/Hontou wa Wakeaerumono nantenaikara /Furikaeranakatta"
"
How far back should I have to go? Tell me./ Everything is so painfully vivid./ The truth is, we couldn't understand each other/ So I left and didn't look back"

Alex and his thoughts at the beginning.

"I'm beginning to learn kanashimi no shikumi/ Anata no Nukumori kakushi/ Afuredeta sonoyami ni obieru"
"
I'm beginning to learn the designs of sorrow/ The hiding away of your warm presence/ Makes me fear the overflowing darkness."

One of the blurbs I wrote for Cecilia was a very emotional, very scattered look into her mind when she realizes Alex is really gone and not coming back. She's only 17, and to her the world is ending; she drove him away and is the cause of his almost certain death. I'll try to polich it up and add it to the extras story.

9. Unhappy - Thriving Ivory

"You look a little unhappy/ bout the way the world is turning"

Another Cecilia song. It was sorta hard to write her little rant at Alex, and I wrote a lot of blurbs from Cecilia's POV to try to find her motivation. This is pretty much her theme song.

10. Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis

"Her soul slides away, but don't look back in anger/ I heard you say"

I wrote the whole one shot with this song in mind and all the depressing stuff was typed with this on repeat, cause it's one of those 'get the whole bar singing and/or crying into their beers' songs. I won't lie. I sniffled a little when I wrote the ending and the chorus came up. Don't judge til you try it.
