"Aunt Hina will we be there soon." Maiko asked as she traveled on the back of a dark haired man.
"Yes honey, just try to fall asleep on uncle Sasu's back and when you wake up we'll be there or very close. Okay?" Hinata said as she ran next to her Sasuke who carried such the cute little girl.
"Otay dokey." Maiko yawned as she snuggled into Sasuke's back.
"She's so cute." Hinata mouthed to Sasuke who smiled in response shaking his head, Hinata thought every child was cute. Maiko had been a Sabaku for a couple months now. The first two months were spent with both her parents in Konoha because Gaara was being forced to stay there. But when that time was up he needed to return to his duty as Kazekage, so he left his girlfriend and their child in Konoha with the plan of Sakura bringing Maiko to Suna after two weeks so they could share the responsibility of their child and because they knew the other one would miss them so much.
Unfortuantly Sakura was to busy at the hospital to take Maiko herself so Tsunade ordered Sasuke and Hinata to bring her with when they traveled to Suna with some documents that needed to be delivered. The two didn't care that their mission alone together would be interrupted by Maiko because they had gotten to know her and care about her over the last two and a half months.
The two trekked for a couple more hours before slowing their pace being just outside the gates of Suna, when they finally got to Kazekage tower it was five o'clock in the morning. Gaara didn't know about the change in plans for Maiko's delivery. Sasuke and Hinata's mission was set a couple days before Sakura was supposed to head out so Maiko actually was being sent to Suna earlier than anticipated. They had notified Kankuro to let them into Kazekage tower since now that Gaara could sleep he liked to do just that until at least until six or six thirty, and the fact that Gaara was spoiling his older sister and letting her stay in Konoha at least every other week and this week she was in Konoha.
"Uncle Kanky!" Maiko yelled having woken up and been let down to walk after they entered Suna. She ran into her uncle's arms wrapping her arms around his neck into a big hug.
"Hey midget, did you have a good trip?" he asked laughing her wiggling in his arms..
"It was sort." (It was short) she said laughing.
"That's because someone was peacefully asleep on my back." Sasuke said, the small girl stuck her tongue out at him, causing all the adults to laugh..
"Alright why don't I let you guys wait outside Gaara's office then when he dismisses you after you've finished your mission, I'll leave him alone and let Maiko walk in by herself to surprise him." Kankuro suggested.
"Sounds good." Hinata said
"Yah." Maiko cheered happily as she and Kankuro walked into Kankuro's office to when Sasuke and Hinata would be gone.
Hinata and Sasuke didn't have to wait on the bench outside of Gaara's office long before he came strolling towards them in his kage hat carrying his robes. He had recently decide he would only wear his robes to and from work, having stripped of the robe in the lobby he now looked rather silly with just the hat on his head, which inevitably made Hinata burst out into a giggling fit and causing Sasuke to smirk.
"Be quiet or I'll demote both of you to chuunin." Gaara grumbled as he entered his office where he hung up his robe and hat then took his seat behind his desk, as Hinata handed him the documents they were here to deliver. Gaara read them over nodded in approval then filed them away.
"Good job, I assume you'll want to be going to your rooms now the receptionist in the lobby said you had been here since around five." Gaara said (they already told the receptionist not to tell Gaara about Maiko)
"Yeah around there, we'll be going but if you think of anything we can help you with don't hesitate to ask." Sasuke said as they both talked very seriously and business like.
"Honestly you two, don't be so official it's annoying talking to your friends like that sheesh." Hinata said rolling her eyes and her male friend and lover.
"Fine Hina why don't you and Sasu go rest, better?" Gaara said smirking at how informal he was being.
"Almost.." Hinata said as she walked up to her friend and ruffled his hair, which had gotten rather untidying because of is hat. "Now that's better we'll say goodbye before we leave 'kay Gaara." she giggled as she skipped out the door.
"If I hadn't known her when she was shy I never would have believed she used to faint being within three feet of a boy." Sasuke said in wonderment.
"I know what you mean." Gaara laughed then laughed even harder when he heard Hinata call from down the hall 'I heard that!'
"See ya." Sasuke said closing the door behind him.
Gaara sighed after his friends' departure and started his rather annoying paperwork only to be surprised as his doorknob turned making the door open and then closing itself without anyone coming in. He rolled his eyes shrugging it off as his brother playing a trick on him with his chakra strings.
"Idiot brother." Gaara muttered
"Daddy thatta bad word."
Gaara inwardly jumped at the new voice in the room that now stood right next to his chair. Looking down he saw none other than his daughter looking up at him with her big innocent eyes.
"Maiko...how'd you get here?" he asked unsure if he was asleep or not.
"Well mommy hatta work so uncle Sasu and aunt Hina brought me." she giggled climbing into his lap with his assistance, then giving him a hug. Gaara returned the hug with a smile he had really missed the kid these past two weeks about as much as he missed Sakura.
"Have you been a good girl for your mom?" he asked setting her on his desk with her legs hanging off so she could face him.
"Yah but mommy get's really tired so uncle Naru watches me and so does uncle Lee cuz they got's lotta energy." She giggled no doubt thinking of funny things her 'uncles' had done. Gaara smiled he was glad to know that her childhood was filled with happiness and love, he absolutely wanted to make up for what he didn't have as a child.
"Oh daddy, mommy wanted me to tell ya that she loves you and misses yah. And yah know what daddy?" Maiko started energetically.
"What's that?" he asked trying to hid his amusement.
"I love and missed ya two." she finished leaping off his desk and giving him a big hug.
"I love you two, short stuff." He laughed as he hugged her back
"Aww you look so cute with a kid." Gaara heard the all to familiar voice of his stalker Matsuri.
'Great she had to come when I have Maiko with me.' Gaara thought to himself
"Thanks, I'd hope so cuz I'm her dad." Gaara said
"WHAT YOU'RE A FATHER WHOSE THE WHORE WHO GAVE BIRTH TO HER I WANT PROOF!" Matsuri yelled crazily only stopping as she got a death glare from her lord Kazekage and an angry "Matsuri would you refrain from such language around my daughter, Sakura and I adopted her a couple months ago and I know how you feel about Sakura so, can it." Gaara scolded.
The truth was Matsuri was terrified of Sakura, finding her very intimidating so she was not going to say anything bad about her in case it got back to her.
"Fine I'll be going then." Matsuri quickly muttered before turning on her heal and leaving but not before bumping into Kankuro on the way out.
"You know it's to bad she's a loon and obsessed with you cuz D-A-M-N is she fine." Kankuro said as he watched her walk away.
"Not that I don't appreciate the fact you took Maiko into consideration and spelled your curses but what is it that you need?" Gaara asked
"Well since we know I can handle it why don't you let me be Kazekage for the day and you spend it with your daughter." Kankuro suggested
"Thanks, Kankuro I think I'll do that." Gaara said getting up crossing the room and placing the ugly hat his brother hated on his head. And off he and his daughter went. But not before hearing a muffled "Oh sure he doesn't have to wear the fugly pointed hat, but I do."
"Ah a bed." Hinata said plopping down face first onto the bed in her and Sasuke's shared room, that they would be staying in for today and tonight then heading home the next morning.
"Don't get to comfortable you know we should probably take a shower before we go to bed, it would be gross to wake up with sand in our beds." Sasuke said and silently mused if his old teammate Sakura did that often.
"You just want me to get naked." Hinata mumbled tiredly into the comforter. Sasuke chuckled
"Yes that is an added bonus, but I don't have the energy for that at the moment." Sasuke said with a yawn.
"Aw is the little Uchiha tired." Hinata giggled sitting up on the bed.
"Don't 'aw' me it's weird." Sasuke reprimanded.
"How is it weird, I can't help that I think your cute when you yawn." Hinata said crossing the room to get to him then pinching his cheek.
"Now your gonna get it Ms. Hyuuga heiress." Sasuke warned
"Oh no I'm shaking in my forehead protector." Hinata giggled as Sasuke picked her up and carried her into the bathroom where he turned the water to a temperature he new she would like then threw her into the fairly large bathtub once it was full, causing the girl to shriek in surprise.
"Sasuke, that was not funny." she said as he chuckled "I still have my clothes on you oaf."
"Well then take them off." he suggested
"Did you know it's a known fact it is way easier to take clothes off when their DRY!" the no longer shy Hyuuga shrieked at her boyfriend who was now starting to take off his own clothes.
Hinata smirked evilly stood up in the bath grabbed his arm and pulled him into the tub on top of her with a splash, causing both to chuckle because now they both were having trouble taking off their wet clothing.
"Thanks Sasuke." Hinata said once they were both bare and relaxing in the warm water after washing themselves off.
"For what?" he asked not remembering doing anything worthy of a thank you.
"For letting me pull you into the bath with me, you could have stopped me if you wanted to." she smiled.
"Yeah, but where's the fun in that?" he asked as he helped her out of the bath and they both dried off and settled into bed both only in clean pairs of underwear and promptly fell asleep.
A/N: Sorry I skipped forward in time I have no memory of why I did this (if you recall this was written months ago) Anyway 2moro is my birthday and I'm really excited!! I'll still be adding an update...sadly 2moro's is the last one I have written so I'll have to crack down and start writing, but I have a few ideas in mind so all's good.
