Twinkle twinkle little star how I wonder what you are..." Maiko sang as she swung her feet back and forth as she sat on the edge of her father's desk while he worked. Kankuro walked in and smiled at the sight noting that Gaara had used his daughter's head as a hat rack and his rather large Kazekage hat looked like she had an umbrella on top of her head, he shared this information with his brother.
"Ha ha very funny, I don't see why you always have to comment about the hat I mean it's not that bad." Gaara grumbled as Maiko giggled under the hat then continued to sing.
"How do you get any work done with her singing like that anyway?" Kankuro asked smiling at his niece.
"Oh that's easy, I learned a long time ago how to tune out certain noises mainly your voice." Gaara said with a laugh.
"Hardy har har, our people must be so happy that they have a comedian for a leader." Kankuro said rolling his eyes.
"Did you need something?" Gaara asked ignoring what Kankuro thought was 'quick wit' but was really only funny to him.
"Oh 'Mari's on her way here she just entered the gates, thought you'd want to know." Kankuro said as he turned on his heal and walked out of the room.
"Thank you Kanky." Gaara called out teasingly to his brother.
"Daddy, is it fun being a brother?" Maiko asked
"Sometimes, but sometimes it's rather annoying." Gaara laughed thinking about all the stupid stuff Kankuro had done over the years, even when he feared Gaara he had still stepped out of line now and then, like picking on Konohamaru before the chuunin exams.
"Will you and mommy get me a brother or sister?" she asked innocently not realizing what she was implying to her father, it was one thing for them to adopt a child together but another to actually have a child that shared both they're genes.
"I'd like to know the answer to that too." came a laughing voice from the doorway.
"Temari you're not helping." Gaara glared
"What I just wanted to know if I would be an auntie to more than one kid because you and I both know Kanky like's kids fine but I don't think anyone wants to know what that child would be like." she said then immediately cracked up that Kankuro had entered the room and heard every word, she loved pissing him off.
"I recent that! And to think I was just coming to welcome you back because I thought I heard your shrill voice from down the hall." Kankuro shot back.
"Hey Mai don't I get a hug, I am after all your favorite auntie." Temari said holding out her arms. Ignoring Kankuro it was better not to encourage him.
"Auntie 'Mari you're my only auntie." Maiko giggled hopping off of Gaara's desk with great care then running up to her aunt. All the adults in the room laughed because from each of their heights (Gaara was now standing) all it looked like was a hat running across the room. Temari bent down and hugged the little girl. "I got something for you." Temari said.
"You did, what is it?!" Maiko exclaimed jumping up and down.
"Here you're mommy wanted me to give you this," Temari said giving her a huge hug and a kiss on the cheek, "and she wanted me to give you this, seems like you dropped it right outside Konoha on your way to see your daddy." Temari said handing the girl her panda plushy.
"GAARA!" Maiko said hugging the stuffed toy.
"She has a stuffed panda named Gaara? Priceless." Kankuro snickered.
"Sakura gave it to her and told her to pick a name for it, I didn't know she named it after me." Gaara grumbled knowing full well the only reason Sakura gave her that was because it's eyes were surrounded by dark circles like his were. It obviously was some weird ploy for Maiko to think of her daddy while he was in Suna and she in Konoha.
"I didn't know what to name it so mommy did." Maiko said smiling at her father's scowl.
"Great just great." Gaara grumbled "That's it this afternoon we are going out and buying you a double bubble pillow and we are naming it Sakura." he added planning his revenge knowing Sakura hated having her hair compared to bubble gum.
"YAY!" Maiko cheered running around the room excitedly until she got to Gaara where she was quickly picked up so she could give him a hug.
"Oh I can't wait to see Sakura's reaction when she sees that pillow." Temari laughed knowing her friends hatred of bubbled gum and of her terrible temper.
That night Maiko slept quite soundly on her new double bubble pillow holding Gaara the panda close to her chest.
A/N: Sry it's so short...that was written back when I was sick but still wanted 2 update. Anyway once I get some accurate poll results and decide what I'm gonna do I'll update please leave me some comments it helps if I know what u guys are thinking.
