"Daddy are you awake?" came the hushed voice of Maiko from the doorway of Gaara's bedroom.
"Yeah, what do you need honey?" He asked motioning for her to come into the room. Maiko ran up to the side of his bed and was promptly helped up after he turned on the lamp that sat on his bedside table.
"Umm..." she started eyes misting over.
"Hey, hey none of that, come on tell me what's wrong?" Gaara asked concerned.
"I miss mommy." she whimpered into his chest from her place on his lap.
"Yeah me too, but guess what we get to see her tomorrow when she get's here. Can you wait until then?" He asked kissing her on top of her little head.
"Ya' I guss so." (Not spelled wrong meant 2 b little kid talk) she said wiping her eyes to get the tears out and because she was tired.
"You wanna sleep in here tonight?" Gaara asked sensing she didn't want to go back to her room and be all alone.
Maiko brightened at his suggestion if only slightly and nodded her head furiously.
Gaara leaned over to the table and put the lamp on it's dimmest setting knowing the little girl didn't like to sleep in complete darkness.
"Night Daddy I love you." Maiko mumbled as she drifted to sleep cuddled into her father.
"Love you too munchkin." Gaara replied before drifting to sleep himself.
SNAP...FLASH
"Aww." Sakura cooed at the sight of her boyfriend and daughter cuddled up asleep on his enormous bed.
"Sakura, if you came all the way to Suna just to wake me up by taking my picture and 'awing' at me you can go back now." Gaara grumbled sitting up careful not to wake Mai while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Well fine I'll just take our kid with me then." She stated then walked out the room.
Gaara confused why she didn't take Maiko stared after her then finally waking up enough he put the subtle clues together, when Maiko first got here she said something about Sakura being tired a lot and Sakura just said she was taking their kid with her and she didn't take the one he knew about so that only left one thing...looked like Maiko was going to find out what having a sibling was like after all.
Gaara quickly hopped out of bed and sprinted into the hallway, turning in the direction he saw Sakura head he about ran into her, being that she was standing their with an impish grin on her face.
"Wow didn't take you as long as I thought it would for you to figure that out this early in the morning." she mused before being trapped in a tight hug.
"How come I'm just hearing about this now?" Gaara asked when he pulled away.
"How do you know I didn't just find out." she countered crossing her arms over her chest.
"Well a) because you're a medic and b) Maiko mentioned something about you being tired a lot, when she arrived. That and your comment I just put them together and viola." Gaara answered then repeated "So why didn't you tell me sooner?"
"Well I wanted you to be the first to know so I didn't tell anyone which I would have had to do if I wanted to send the message to you via Sasuke and Hinata, besides I wanted to see your reaction in person." she laughed when he scowled at this information.
"You are truly evil you know that?" he stated shaking his head from side to side.
"Yeah I get that a lot. So your not mad that I'm pregnant?" she asked her humorous face turning serious.
"Why would I be mad, surprised yes but not mad." Gaara admonished.
"Well we just adopted Maiko and all but that was under totally different circumstances. And I'm gonna get fat and if you wanna be there when I have the baby, which you better, then I'll have to stay in Suna because I won't be able to travel much longer and I'll be bitchy and have mood swings and..." Sakura would have continued with her hysterics if it weren't for Gaara's lips covering her own effectively silencing her.
"Now I'm fine with all of that. My god you seriously thought I wouldn't want to see my own kid brought into this world?" Gaara asked what would have been an eyebrow raise if he had them.
"Okay no but I had a lot to think about when I was all alone in my bed at night you know." Sakura muttered still embarassed about her whole melt down.
"I wonder how Mai will take the news." Sakura wondered aloud recovering from her embarassment.
"Oh well she asked me the other day if we were gonna give her a sibling so I think she'll be okay with it." Gaara laughed remembering the awkward conversation the too had with Temari walking in and all. "Now come on let's go wake her up the reason she was sleeping with me was because she missed you last night." Gaara said taking her by the hand and dragging her back into his bedroom both climbing onto his bed where they gently woke up the sleeping girl.
"Mai, honey wake up." Sakura said gently shaking her shoulder.
"MOMMY!" the little girl cheered immediately waking up at the sight of Sakura and launching herself at her.
"Hey, how's my girl doin'" Sakura asked smiling because Maiko wouldn't let go of her neck which was alright with her.
"Good, daddy and uncle Kanky are sooo funny." she exclaimed
"Really, how so?" Sakura asked although she had a feeling it had something to do with the fact that the to bickered nonstop which for the spectator was quite fun to watch.
"Uncle Kanky always make fun o' the hat daddy supposed to wear but I wear it now." she declared proudly. "And daddy always get's him wit his sand." she giggled. Sakura looked over at Gaara to see that he had his head turned.
"And what do you have to say about all this Mr. Subaku." Sakura teased.
"I don't have anything to say because I don't know what she is talking about." He teased right back.
"Well look at the little family all sitting bed." Temari stated from the doorway.
"Tem you won't believe it but I got the cutest pic of these two asleep in this big bed." Sakura said, then turned on her camera and faced the LCD screen towards Temari.
"Oh my god you guys look so cute." she fawned.
"Tem, do not refer to your Kazekage as cute please." Gaara grumbled.
"I wasn't I was referring to my baby bro and his daughter as cute." Temari retaliated sticking out her tongue.
"Hey Temari you know that question Mai asked me the other day." Gaara subtly dropped the hint.
"Oh my lanta I'm gonna be a bonafide aunt, to a kid that will actually look like one of you." Temari cheered hugging Sakura.
"Yeah and possible could look like you too." Sakura informed her then smiled as Gaara shuddered. "As long as it has no resemblance to Kankuro, in anyway shape or form I'm fine." Gaara laughed as Kankuro walked into the room.
"Hey, why do I always enter the room when people are bashing me. I'm not that bad am I." he asked self consciously.
"No we can just sense your chakra coming closer and we intentionally say that stuff because you are quite funny when on the offensive." Sakura spilled their dirty little secret seeing as it was finally getting to him.
"You're a bunch of A-holes you know that." Kankuro muttered crossing his arms. "So I hear you're procreating."
"Yes I am. And who taught you such a big word anyway?" Sakura teased.
"Again A-hole." Kankuro said this time with a very mature sticking out of the tongue.
"Anyway I wanna take Maiko out today since I've missed her so much, interested in joining me Tem?" Sakura asked turning to look at the blonde.
"Sure, let's invite Hina too if Sasuke will let her go for five minutes." Temari laughed as she went off to call Hinata, Kankuro following behind her.
"Aww work will be to quiet and lonely today." Gaara whined as he got dressed.
"Why is that?" Sakura asked sitting enjoying the view seeing as Maiko went to go get dressed in her own room.
"Because I have become accustomed to my new favorite hat rack singing twinkle twinkle all day long." Gaara smiled.
"Wow, the big bad insane Kazekage will miss his daughter's singing little kid's songs, what has the world come to." Sakura laughed.
"Hey formally insane thank you very much." Gaara corrected before kissing her.
"What was that for?" she asked out of breath when they pulled away.
"You've been here for almost an hour and I've only given you a hug and a half assed kiss, and I haven't seen you in awhile I think me kissing you once we are alone is implied don't you think." He stated slyly.
"Sure, sure." Sakura smiled back as they both went to go see if Maiko successfully dressed herself.
"Daddy I told you I could dress myself." Maiko declared proudly as she met them in the hallway dressed perfectly fine in a sand symbol t-shirt and khaki shorts and purple sandals. Hair pulled into pig tails on the top of her head courtesy of her aunt Temari.
"I will never doubt you again." Gaara smiled. "Wait are your underwear on in the right direction?" he asked remembering yesterday how she had been complaining all day only to find out she had put her underwear on backwards. Maiko promptly ran into the bathroom and closed the door then yelled form the inside "THEIR GOOD!" before running out again to meet her laughing parents, Sakura having been informed of this little disaster earlier.
"Hey Sasuke I'm gonna go hang out with Temari and Sakura today, you gonna be okay by yourself?" Hinata asked pulling on her sandals.
"Yeah." Sasuke said then looked up to see Hinata in a short skirt and very flimsy white tank top on. "Are you prepared to go ninja on the asses of all the guys who are gonna be hooting and hollerin' at the sight of you." he grinned being very prideful that he's the only one who has actually seen under the clothes.
"I'll have to be cuz it's fuckin' hot out there and I'm not changing." She laughed giving him a kiss before heading out to meet her friends at one of their favorite places to meet in Suna. When Hinata arrived at the little café with tables outside for people to sit at with large umbrellas over them to shade them from the hot sun, the only two sitting their where Sakura and Maiko.
"Hey guys," Hinata said sitting down, "where's Temari."
"Well Hinata, I have some news, I'm pregnant." She stopped for some squealing and congratulations before she continued. "Anyway her and Gaara are finishing up the plans for her to be relocated to Konoha and me to Suna." she informed her friend.
"Oh so are you going to be miss family girl now?" Hinata teased.
"Hey I can still be a medic while pregnant beside Konoha already has two very talented medics, they don't need me as much as Suna does and I want to be near Gaara anyway so this works out perfectly." Sakura defended herself.
"I was just kidding Sakura don't go all hormonal on me." Hinata teased further.
"I am NOT looking forward to people blaming me being defensive on hormones." Sakura huffed crossing her arms.
"Yeah I'm glad I'm gonna be all the way in Konoha for most of that fun, Kankuro said he is moving out because of that also." Temari joined the conversation as she sat down between Maiko, who was way to interested in her coloring book to notice anything, and Hinata at the small round table. Sakura noticing Maiko was distracted quickly flipped Temari off.
"Oh I feel the love, and Kankuro actually is moving out because he thinks its time to not cuz of you. Anyway Gaara and I've go it all worked out. Tsunade is okay with it because it's not like she is losing a ninja and not getting another in return she says it's a fair trade and this will help strengthen bonds between us. Bunch of bull if you ask me it's not like that was the reason you guys did it or anything." Temari grumbled obviously not happy with how Tsunade was making things sound.
"Whatever as long as I get to stay here I'm fine with however she had to pitch it to the council to allow it to happen." Sakura said with a wave of her hand.
"Oh this is great now that the job won't be split between the two of you I get to watch Sasuke get all angry when it's his job to keep Naruto in line." Hinata giggled.
"That's mean Aunt Hina." Maiko chimed in selecting a different color crayon from the cup in front of her not even bothering to look up.
"No it's not I think Sasuke looks cute with his angry face, well at least when it's because of Naruto because he always says he's mad but you can tell underneath he is actually quite amused." She laughed.
"So you're pregnant have one child already and yo' baby's daddy is the Kazekage himself...are you happy with your life?" Temari asked pretending to be a psychiatrist.
"First of all your shrink impression leaves much to be desired, and yes I am happy with my life thank you very much. I hope my kid does not inherit your bad acting skills." she laughed. The girls continued to laugh the day away shopping and teasing Sakura about her hormone levels whenever she got slightly cranky.
A/N: Alright I know I didn't leave my poll open for very long but I really wanted to get to writing this story and the few people I did get to vote leaned in the direction I was planning on going in, in the first place. Hope you like where this is going, if not well to late...lol. Please review I like to hear from you guys and thanks for the wishes of Happy Birthday I got. I'll try to update regularly but if I take to long don't hesitate to yell at me to do so it usually get's my butt in gear to start writing.
