Jack and Kate have been going out for about a month,during that time they got alot closer Jack talked to Kate about all the problems with his dad and Kate told Jack about how her Dad left,Tom left everyone always leaves her.It came time to send in your colledge applications,Jack & Kate and all there friends applied to UCLA or other state schools.
Now it was friday and Jack was in his room with headphones on but he could hear the screaming downstairs between his parents about him,how his dad wanted certain things for him,he wanted him to go down a certain path and it didnt matter if Jack wanted it or not,His mom really just wanted her son to be happy but she kinda had no control when it came to his future just as he had none.Jack looked over to his desk and walked over too it,he looked at the booklet and applications on it and hes eyes were drawn to the one written
"Brown University".Without thinking about the fact that Brown is about 2706 miles from L.A,he didnt think about his mom ,his sister,his friends or even Kate the only thing he was thinking was that he had to get out of here,out of this house,out of this town and away from his father.He grabbed the paper and filled it out brought it to the mail box and sent it away.

A few weeks later they got the thier letters back they all made it into UCLA,some on scholarships some had to pay there way threw but it didnt matter they were in this together just like they said at the begginning of the year.When Jack home he's mother came out
"Jack You Got Mail" She handed him a letter and he knew that it was from Brown,he didnt want her to find out until he told her because it meant him leaving but she seemed happy for him anyway.He took the letter from her
"Big means they want you,Small means the don't " she told him and he smiled and went upstairs to open it.He got into his room took a breath and opened it.

He could feel his heart pounding in his chest,he could finally get away,he could finally start taking care of himself for once,than his excitment turned into worry because at that moment he thought about his mom,his sister,his friends and Kate he would have to leave Kate.He sank onto his bed and decided that he wasn't going to tell anyone he got in,not yet.

About a week later Kate ran into Margo at the store.As they stopped and said hi and talked about Jack,what Margo said next was the last thing on earth Kate thought or wanted to hear...
"I'm Gonna Miss Him" she told Kate
Kate looked at her confused "Miss Him?" she asked
"He's Going Off To Colledge Dear,Brown" she said as if it was a well known fact
'Brown' Kate thought to herself as in the school,as in almost 3000 miles away,why didnt he tell her?
"I Gotta Go,Nice Seeing You Here" Kate said nicely and walked off towards Jack's wanted to know what the hell is going on.
She walked right in and went up to Jack's room,He was lying on his bed strumming his guitar
"Were You Ever Gonna Tell Me" she almost yelled
He turned around with a confused look on his face" What Are You Talking About?"
She laughed sarcasticly "I Ran Into Your Mom Today Said She Would Miss You When You Go To Brown!" She yelled and the tears started forming in her eyes
"Kate" he tried but she put her hands up
"No,Why Jack?" She sobbed "You Promised"
(flashback)
Kate and Jack were sitting on his bed together,she had just told him about her dad Sam and Tom.She was crying and he was holding her in his arms gently rubbing her hair.
"Everyone I Love,They Always Leave Jack" She sobbed into his shirt
"That's Not True Kate" He said trying to calm her down
"Promise Me That You'll Never Leave Me" Kate looked into his eyes
He kissed her forhead "I Promise" he said
(end flashback)
Jack walked over to Kate " Kate I Gotta Get Out Of This Place,I Have To Get Away From My Dad" he begged her to understand,She saw the hurt in his eyes and sat down on the bed he walked over and sat next to her
"And We Still Have The Rest Of The Year,And The Summer Before I Go" He said
She looked at him " And We Will Spend Every Minute Together?" She asked
He nodded " Of Course"
"So I Could Fall Even More In Love With You?" She said to him and he smiled but his smile soon faded
"And It Will Be That Much Harder When You Leave" She said and ran out of the bedroom and out the house.
She went home and started to write.The phone rang it was Claire asking her if she was coming to the Cafe,and Claire sorta didnt gove her much choich.
They were all sitting at a table in the corner of the Cafe,Jack and Kate were distant which didnt go unoticed by thier friends.
"So Is Anyone Singing Tonight" Charlie Asked
Noone said they were Kate looked at Jack and got up and walked over to the stage,everyone got up and crowded around the stage as she began to sing...

She choked out the last part and before she could get off the stage Jack had left not because he was angry but because his heart couldn't take it.Sayid and Sawyer went with him.They were now in Jack's back yard with a case of beer
"What Am I Gonna Do Guys" He asked
Sayid looked at his friend "What Is Your Heart Telling You To Do?"
"I Don't Man" He said Taking Another Sip Of His Beer
"She Says Everyone Always Leaves Her,Her Dad And Tom And Now I'm Just Another Name On Her List,Just One Person To Disappoint Her"
Sayid and Sawyer just watched thier friend have this battle with himself pacing up and down the lawn with his beer in his hand they let him continue..
"And I Really Don't Wanna Do That" He told them
"It's Just I Finally Have A Chance,You Know To Get Away From All This Crap And Take Care Of Myself For Once,For Once" He Continued
Sayid looked at him and put a hand on his shoulder " It's Okay To Think About Yourself Sometimes Jack"
Jack smiled his eyes were all watery,this was eating him up inside
"I Know And This Is Like The Best Thing That's Ever Happen To Me" He said and paused
He let out a short laugh and said " Or Maybe Kate Is" he looked at his friends so confused.
