After eating breakfast in bed , Jack and Kate decided to go for a walk, he hadn't mentioned anything because he didn't want to ruin the moment but he was still wondering what it was that made her lie, on this walk he had every intention of finding out.

They were walking down the street, hand in hand and as close as they could get to each other.

"So where we walking too?" Jack asked

Kate smiled "Let's just walk, you're leaving soon so let's just be together while you're here" She reached up to kiss him, and Jack bent down meeting her half way as their lips connected in a sweet kiss.

Jack smiled down at her with a funny look on his face "You know there is a solution" He told her,

Shaking her head "Jack, you're going, we talked about this", Jack laughed wrapping his arm around her waist "Kate just hear me out" He said

"You want me to go to Brown, and me well I just want you" He said sweetly "So I think I have a solution" He added

Kate raised her eyebrows "What's that?" She asked him curious about how they could make this work

"Okay before I tell you, promise me you'll think about it before you say no" He shrugged

Kate gulped, where was he going with this? But she nodded anyways "Okay, I promise"

Jack smiled letting out a breath "Okay, here it is, I'm just going to say it, you know put it out there" He stumbled out nervously

Kate laughed "Just say it Jack" She hit is arm playfully

He chuckled "Alright, You could come with me" He finally managed to say

Kate stood there with a shocked expression on her face, "Go with you?" She said "How is that going to work?" She asked as they started walking again

"Well we could get an apartment instead of living in a dorm, and I mean we'd need jobs to pay rent" He told her

Kate smiled up at him "Just one thing wrong with that Jack" She said "I can't go to Brown"

Jack shrugged his shoulders "Why not?"

Laughing Kate told him "For one I didn't get accepted"

"That's because you never applied"

Kate tilted her head to the side resting it on his shoulder "Jack"

"Come on Kate, I just started thinking about this, give me time to figure out all the details" He said smiling

He pulled Kate in front of him, and stopped walking so he could see her face, holding her hands in between them "So I haven't completely figured it out, I just I know that I don't want to leave you, I don't want to make a move like this without you" He sweetly replied

Leaning up to kiss him again, pulling away "There's got to be community colleges down there right?" She smiled up at him before quickly kissing him again

"Does that mean you'll think about it?" He asked hopeful

She nodded "I will, Yes"

Next thing Jack knew she was pulling him across the street, looking over to see that the park was there.

"Kate what are we doing here?" He asked

Placing her hand on his chest and pushing him towards the swings, not saying a word until he fell onto the swing. She climbed onto his lap, swinging her legs around his waist so she was facing him

"I want to swing with you" She smiled innocently

Jack shook his head laughing, as he started to pump his legs to get them swinging, they just silently stayed like that for a while, just looking into each other's eyes, then Jack spoke

"Kate, I have to ask you something?" He said

"Can it wait, I'm enjoying this" She said nuzzling in his neck, Jack smiled but knew he couldn't let it go

"It's important" He told her and she lifted her head from his shoulder, to see that his eyes were serious and sad. She nodded telling him to continue

"Why did you lie Kate? What made you decide to hurt us like that?" He asked sadly

Kate dropped her gaze and looked at their laps "Jack I don't think it's my place" She started

"Not you're place Kate, you ended us out of nowhere, there had to be a reason" He interrupted her "The only thing I can think of that changed, is you after you went downstairs that morning" He added

Kate stayed silent, "What was it, was it my dad?" Kate's head shot up at the mention of his father, showing Jack it did have something to do with him "Did he say something to you?" He asked angry

Kate finally spoke "No Jack he didn't do anything wrong okay?"

"Well then what is it? What did he do?" He asked

"I really think you should talk to him about this" She said

Jack grabbed her hand "I'm asking you Kate" He said, looking in his eyes she knew she couldn't lie to him anymore

"I overheard something he was telling your mom Jack" She said knowing she have to elaborate and it would kill him

"Overheard what?" He asked

"Jack I love you, don't get mad okay" She said kissing him

"Overheard what Kate?" He pressed on

She took a breath, she really didn't want to do this but she knew there was no getting out of it now

"Your dad, He's sick Jack" She said squeezing his hand slightly

"Sick?" Jack said nervously "Like a cold?"

Kate felt tears rolling out of her eyes as she shook her head "He's sick and it's serious"

Jack just shook his head "Why wouldn't he tell me?" Kate wrapped her arms around his neck pulling him into her "He didn't want you to worry"

Jack suddenly pulled away from her, looking at her with a distant look in his brown eyes "So that's why you did what you did?" He asked

She nodded

"You were going to throw us away, let me believe that you didn't give a dame because what? My dad was sick?" He shot out angrily

"He wants you to go to Brown Jack, I didn't want you to stay and hate me for it later" She cried out, she was afraid he'd be angry "I knew I couldn't deal with you hating me, you looking at me like you're looking at me right now" She cried making a move to get off the swing

He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her in making sure she didn't go anywhere "I don't hate you, I could never hate you Kate" He traced along the side of her face with his hand gently until she looked at him "I love you Kate"

He pressed his lips to hers in a sweet movement, pouring everything he had into it, like it was his one chance to show her how he felt, pulling apart "So you're not mad?"

Jack shook his head "At my dad, a little" He paused "But not at you, no" He said stealing another kiss

They stayed swinging there for a while, Jack knowing when he got home he'd have to deal with all this, not looking forward to that, he just wanted to stay with Kate a little bit longer.

He wanted to feel like it was just the two of them for a little longer.
