A/n: Hey! I'm back. Unfortunately my interview didn't go too good – so this is a note to myself for the future – never leave writing just in order to prepare yourself for some boring adult stuff – what will be, will be – right?

As for House MD – still not mine!

The next day was finally the day. She seemed to be as relaxed and well rested as a member of his team could ever be and in a very good mood. Probably still on the high from solving medical mystery on her own. House, on the other hand came to the terms with the fact that his little ducklings were maturing. It was more than possible that they will leave soon.

Her success was actually a great opportunity for him – it gave him a pretext to ask her out without it sounding pathetic. Celebratory drinks had only one potential disadvantage – Chase and Foreman would be joining them, and a double date wasn't exactly House's plan. So, he started to think how on earth he was going to get rid of boys but for once the Fortune decided to help him out. The moment he decided to bribe the janitor to fake some family emergency for both Blackie and Aussie, something unexpected happened. Cuddy demanded one of his underlings to lend a hand in always busy ER and Foreman got actually a mysterious call after which he left the office as soon as humanly possible. Cameron only shrugged at his sudden flight and sigh:

"So, I guess this means that we will have to reschedule?"

"Why, doctor Cameron, are you afraid to go out with me alone? I won't bite, well unless you ask me really, really nicely".

"I just thought you would loose your interest – I'm not a heavy drinker hence no ammo to mock me and even if I gave you a reason, you would have had only very limited auditorium".

"Now I'm just hurt. First of all, I'm known for not refusing free alcohol – ever! And what is even more important, I assure you that I would find a reason to mock anyone no matter the circumstances and the amounts of said alcohol drunk. It hits hard when nobody believes in you, you know this right?" he asked with fake hurt look.

"Well, after that introduction I'm not so sure I want to go anywhere with you".

"Of course you want to. Come on, Cameron! Be daring – shock me tonight, just the way you did when you solved that little puzzle of yours".

"So that was a shocker for you?" – she felt her anger building inside.

"It's not what you think. I wasn't shocked that you found the answer, I was just shocked that you did it before me. You see – even when I try to compliment you, it comes as an insult. That's just who I am" – bitterness of this comment was obvious, something in his voice suggested that part of him wished it was not this way.

"I thought that... never mind. So what about these drinks? Do you still want to come? If it is going to reestablish your faith in humanity I can promise you to drink some more than usually, you know to give you some ammo"

"Oh, you're just too kind. So... you're good to go?"

"Yeah, I think I am".

Ten minutes later, they left hospital together.
