NECRONS
The Necrons's awakening was triggered by the Adeptus Mechanicus. For eons they have slept as the Eldar of old naturally died out and the Orks become scattered, the Necrons Dynasties awoke one by one, enacting a pressure of dread never felt before throughout the galaxy.
Eventually, the Necrons began building up more and more power throughout the years, and aggravated by grudges a million years old, began to ignore the many species across the galaxy to start wars with each other. The Imperium's collapse was barely felt by Necrons besides some such as Trazyn, who relegated their history in museums. Many of the Dynasties grew more and more restless at the straining relationships between each other and the breaking point was reached.
The Necrons began engaging war upon war upon themselves and soon, the conflict turned galactic and entire Necron Dynasties launched star devastating weapons at each other as their technological advancement grew unnaturally fast to the point where it outpaced the Tau. The Silent King, tried his best to unite his people and soon united everyone who understood, respected or revered him under one banner to wage war against the other dynasties, to unite the Necron people once more.
The Necron Dynasties who resisted Szarekh, also united under one banner and started the 'War of Unity', the Necrons fought against each other for 60 000 years as many races, both old and young watched in awed confusion. Stars were thrown across the battlefield as Necron weapons fired upon the stars and causing destruction unprecedented ever since the fabled War in Heaven. Tyranids have never avoided the Necrons as much as they do, The Eldar were relegated and built up their own empire and the Tau advanced due to the large power gaps left by the Necron's massacre of themselves. Soon, the Necrons under Szarekh were overwhelmed and their dynasties ravaged and destroyed, and the Silent King eventually executed by the new ruler and king of the Necrons, Imotekh, who oversees a vision of all life in the galaxy erased so that Necron dominance can reign over, a victory that has been promised to them for a millennia.
Soon, their technological progress skyrocketed to the point where the trillions of Necron soldiers were able to get their personalities back, which caused a rebellion upon the populace that lasted for another 20 000 years, but was in the end, easily curled by the might of the Stormlord and his many Overlords and Crypteks. The Necrons soon, left their old mechanical bodies and uploaded their consciousnesses into a better and more durable form. The new design was a spherical metal shell propelled by the gravity technology founded through the War of Unity, releases beams of Gauge weaponry more advanced than anything during 41st millennium.
The Necrons, unstably evolved beyond comprehension, began to wipe out all life in the event known as the Cleansing, where nearly all life except for a few ork descendants or other durable creatures were wiped off from the face of the galaxy, this in turn, attracted the attention of the Aeldari empire, who waged war with them for 4 million years in the event known as the "Haven War" which devastated not just the empire, but Aeldari bodies and souls for many millions of years to come.
A record of a disturbing Necron invasion upon an Eldar civilian world sees the Necrons blocking their suns with massive sails and exterminating the population with the combined use of Pilons and Gauss weaponry from the cold dead warships The Necron pilot and in 4 hours, the trillions of Eldar have been killed. Many Craftworld empires were able to resist the Necron invasions before falligng at the end of the war. The Craftworld Saim-Hann was able to resist the Necrons with its advantageous technology of resisting Pilons, however, the Necrons adapted quickly and they were completely overrun in the second attempt.
The Necrons, thirst for a better power source, for the C'Tan has weakened from overuse, as their melted bodies has shrivelled and were desperately seeking a power source, that is when they noticed Slaanesh, the prince of pleasure, who was empowered by the suffering and desperation of the beaten Eldar. Power that they could use to their benefit. Soon, Imotekh's Dynasties enslaved and melded the Eldar into unrecognisable forms designed only for empowering Chaos to power their technology with their suffering and misery, now knwonas the humiliating title of the "Subjects". They were the undisputed loud and proud rulers of the galaxy for over a million years, until a disturbing and alarming fact presented itself to the Necron empire. Asteroids that were moving a lot faster than they were supposed to were observed across the stars. Necron raids were sent to retrieve the inhabitants and each one disappeared as if they never existed. A new vision has been revealed among the many Crypteks, a new threat that could rival even theirs, a collection of aliens so advanced that they were on par with the old warriors during the War in Heaven led by the aliens known as the Asteromorphs.
The Necrons soon began speeding up their technological advancement once again to keep up with the rapidly expanding empire of the asteroids, but soon find themselves backed into a corner due to the untold casualties starting a war with these aliens would do, so they simply watched as they watched in return for the next 5 million years, in return. However, something began brewing within the Necron empire.
It would seem that a movement has begun of sort, some Necrons began valuing organic life and treating them as equals that deserve respect and rights just as much as the average Necron does, with some even making meaningful relationships akin to humanity's concepts of husband and wife.
These movements begun small but soon, snowballed into a movement that would cause the destruction of the Necron empire if left unchecked. Thus, similarly to the Silent King's declaration to the Old Ones, in an act to unite their species, Imotekh waged a large war against the Asteromorphs.
The War in Heaven Secundus was the bloody war that came afterwards. The Necrons and Asteromorphs battled for 70 million years, and proved to be the most devastating conflict, dwarfing all the previous wars of the galaxy combined by hundreds of magnitudes. The galaxy was scattered and reformed multiple times under the devastating efforts of what can only be described a large plethora of explosions that could be seen even from other galaxies can see the devastating toll of the War in Heaven Secundus. Quintillions from both sides died every hour as the galaxy cried in agony as it's children fought for eons until the victor rose from the ashes.
The Great Rebuilding began as the Asteromorphs and Tau quickly unpopulated and either extracted or destroyed many of the technologies used during the war located on the planets by terraforming them and creating new suns to host new systems that have been lost and soon, in the span of a millennia, the galaxy has returned to it's natural state, prospering and brimming with raw potential. The Many species of the galaxy, armed by the War in Heaven Secundus were terminated due to the Asteromorphs prediction of their betrayals and their lack of use within the galaxy, soon, only a few empires brought by individual species remained such as the Tau Enclaves and the many Kroot Tribes, who remained at the outer edges of the galaxies holding the line against the Tyranid Hive fleets encroaching upon the galaxy, now numbering in the billions on all sides.
The Asteromorphs crafted a pocket dimension accessible through specifically designed wormholes located on the planets who once were the enveloped worlds within the Eye of Terror which remains the most heavily guarded capital of the Tau for millennia to come with the Asteromorphs staying within much more.
They soon realized that the Necrons, while an unbelievably dangerous foe, still has uses for the newfound galactic empire, thus, they came to the agreement that they should not all be purged, but granted a twisted form of a second chance. The surviving Necrons were crushed and their minds tinkered and numbed to prevent rebellion, they were given new souls through the healing and gratifying power of the Eldar Goddess Isha within the warp. Their bodies were scrapped and were replaced with more fragile and agile structures, floating nanotechnology that can shapeshift into whatever they desired. Many Necrons were mind-wiped in the process and their personalities switched with only a few such as Trazyn keeping his entire personality intact to create his 'Ethical' museum, given many worlds to craft his life's work and reveal it to the wider galaxy by summarizing the wide expanse of history the Processors have recorded.
(SUCK IT ORIKAN! Oh wait, he's not even conscious anymore, well that's just unfortunate. )
-Trazyn
This is how the machines would prosper for many eons. That is until a certain point in history that the Asteromorphs decided to give their biological bodies back and thus, the Necrontyr have returned. They colonized many galaxies with their remarkable technology and mastered technology far more rapidly than any known species with the exception of the Asteromorphs.
Now, when many of the species within the universe search upon the name of 'Necron', they end with a tragic note. Unlike the rest, they seemed to have not transcended, but died out if the account of an Transcended Eldar within the warp now is anything to go by. The mystery of their deaths still hold great sorrow within the Eldar's hearts, for they would not tell us of what even happened, and thus, it remains a mystery, Did they die from an advanced plague? Killed by an alien empire or did their masters, the Asteromorphs kill them? From now, and perhaps, the end of time, that may never be revealed.
History is vast, and many may not end with great results, but that is why it must remain in the past as we move to the future.
