"I've barely taken any notes this semester!" Mina and Kaminari burst out as Mr. Aizawa closed the door.
One week. That was all they had left to prepare for the final exam for their first term at UA. Ayumu was just glad that Mr. Aizawa hadn't held the possibility of expulsion over them for this exam like he did for their first day. Ayumu wasn't terribly worried about the exam. She had ranked number eight in the midterms and had paid as much attention as she could in class. The written exam would be a piece of cake, the practical exam however…. She was less sure of herself.
She watched as people started to form study groups. Mina had already joined Momo's group. Ayumu's eyes landed on where Kirishima stood beside Bakugo. She got up from her seat and made her way over to them.
"You think I don't know enough? Maybe I should beat the lessons into your skull!" Bakugo threatened.
Kirishima was unfazed, "I'm counting on it."
"Mind if I study with you guys? I can't focus in big groups like that one."
Kirishima smiled at her, "Of course! The more the merrier!"
Bakugo scoffed, "What a stupid question. You train with us all the time, why the hell would you study with someone else?"
Ayumu shrugged, "I'm not sure you'll be the best teacher…"
"What!" Bakugo glared at her.
Kirishima laughed and grabbed his backpack, "Come on, we should go get some lunch before our next class."
Ayumu slipped into the booth at the lunch table across from Bakugo and Kirishima and looked around. Shinso was nowhere to be found. Bakugo leaned back in the chair, balancing on the back two legs, watching as a Class 1-B student talked to Midoryia and his friends. Ayumu stabbed at her food with a fork while Kirishima rambled on about the different kinds of training and study topics they needed for the exam while shoveling his lunch into his mouth. Finally, Ayumu found her resolve and looked up at the two boys.
"We should invite Mineta to train with us after school this week."
Kirishima almost choked on his food and Bakugo turned to her slowly, eyes narrowed suspiciously. The front legs of his chair slammed down onto the tile floor with a thump.
"Why?" The question came out accusatory.
Ayumu looked down, stabbing at her food once more, "We've all gotten really comfortable training with one another. I think it would be helpful to train with someone who we're not as comfortable with and I can't think of someone I'm less comfortable with than Mineta."
Bakugo leaned forward on the table. "You're a terrible liar, you know that?"
"Does this have anything to do with the other day?" Kirishima asked gently, "Because we all really chewed him out for that. He's not going to do it again."
Ayumu bit the inside of her cheek, but didn't meet their gaze, "Yeah, well… I want to make sure he doesn't."
Kirishima smiled sympathetically, "We already made sure. He knows it was totally unmanly."
"Don't bother."
Ayumu looked up. Bakugo was staring her down and she could see the wheels turning in his head. He knew that whatever the boys had said or done to Mineta yesterday wasn't going to deter him from being a creep again. Bakugo laid his hand out on the table, palm up.
"Nothing you do or say is going to make a difference. You're dumbass is just going to get yourself in trouble. Show me what you were going to do."
Ayumu held her own hand. She glanced at Bakugo's hand and then up to his face. "Bakugo, I don't think-"
"If you won't show me, you definitely won't do it to him." Bakugo held his hand out more, daring her to take it. When she didn't move, he dropped his hand and leaned back again in his chair, "That's what I thought."
Ayumu opened her mouth to reply, but the bell cut her off. The three of them grabbed their trays and headed out of the cafeteria.
"Hey, Kendo from Class-1B said that the upperclassmen said that the practical is going to be robots like during the entrance exams." Midoriya announced excitedly as the class gathered back in their room.
"Robots? Again?" Ayumu questioned skeptically.
"All Right!" Mina and Kaminari shouted excitedly. Both seemed much more relaxed than they had earlier.
"This'll be super easy if it's just robots!" Kaminari cheered.
Mina gushed, "Such awesome news"
Shoji looked over to them, his arm talking for him, "Why do you sound so happy? You both have a hard time controlling your quirks."
"Yeah, but I can let loose with robots!" Kaminari threw his hands up in celebration.
"And melting them will be a cinch for me!" Mina mirrored his motions.
Sero smiled brightly, "Now you just need Yaoyorozu to help you study and you'll be all set for finals."
"We'll definitely be able to go to the training camp now!" They pair shouted, excited about the possibility of the summer camp.
Ayumu held her hands up to catch her friends' attention, "Okay, but we don't know for sure its robots. Just because Kendol said it is, doesn't mean it's true."
Kaminari's smile faltered, "Why would she lie?"
"I didn't say she did, I'm just saying she might be wrong," Ayumu shrugged, "Why would they use the robots three times for us? Once for the entrance exam, once for the sports festival, and again for the final?" Ayumu counted on her fingers.
Mina crossed her arms, "Maybe the school spent a lot of money on them and wants to get a lot of use out of them."
"But we break them when we use them. I just don't think-"
"It shouldn't matter if it's robots or actual people." Bakugo interrupted, "Why are you morons so excited?"
Kaminari's attention was diverted to the blond, "Hey! Who are you calling a moron?"
"Shut up!" Bakugo snapped, causing Mina and Kaminari to take a step back, "You need to learn how to control your Quirk! You got it!" Bakugo turned his attention away from the pair and to Midoryia. "Hey! Deku! I don't know what's going on with your power, but I saw the way you're using it now and I want you to know- it's seriously pissing me off."
"Here we go again." Ayumu whispered to Kirishima, who simply shook his head.
Bakugo gritted his teeth, "I won't have another half-assed win like the festival. We'll be getting individual scores in the upcoming finals- New rankings. So we'll all know exactly where we're standing. I'll show you how much better I am. And Todoroki?" He glared at Todoroki over his shoulder. "I'll kill you, too."
With that little speech, Bakugo grabbed his bag and stormed out slamming the door behind him. The class stood in stunned silence for a moment. Ayumu let out a sigh and looked to Kirishima beside her. He scratched the back of his head watching the door.
"It's been a while since I've seen him that worked up."
Tokoyami crossed his arms, "Think it's impatience? Or hatred?"
Ayumu grabbed her backpack and motioned for Kirishima, "We should probably go after him. We're supposed to go to that cafe down the road to study tonight."
