'This is ass.' Thought Javan as he trailed after Scarlett, Karl and Bran, since he refused to be called Godfrey. The quartet had been walking through the woods for over an hour and he was getting tired of it, sure the occasional conversation was nice but it was tiring to keep a somewhat fast pace over uneven terrain, even with his new body's training kicking in and that was just another can of worms on how ass this situation was.
Javan was wondering how the others died, since the message from B.O.P all but said so by mentioning that this was a collective second chance. He figured that at least one of them died via Truck-kun since that's the cliché with these situations, it'd be better than how he died at the very least. He could still hear the sobs being overshadowed by the ringing bangs of gunshots. Shaking his head Javan turned his attention back to the others as Scarlett exclaimed:
"Yor just no fun marra, yor just a damn hacky prick!" The only females voice was pitched high in aggravation. "Like no one te knaw aboot the fact yor name's a reference!" Javan honestly understand half of what she said, he figured that she had a accent similar to a old Northumbrian one since she shared name with King Rædwulf of Northumbria but he wouldn't be surprised if it was just rural Canadian one.
Javan was suddenly struck by an idea. "So where, uh, you guys from?" He asked before Scarlett could go on another rant.
"Portland, Oregon, in the US of A." Answered Karl looking up from his scroll to watch his step.
"I'm from Rand, Colorado. Wee bitty town." Responded Scarlett, her attention shifting from Bran to Javan.
"Tibet, Georgia. Might have had, maybe, one-hundred and twenty-ish people in town so I doubt you've heard of it." Said Bran.
"What aboot ya, Jav?" Asked Scarlett, turning herself to face him while walking backwards. Javan already knew she was going to regret it as he answered.
"The Ozarks, Missouri. And before you ask, no Ozark is not accurate." The teen was fidgeting with the weapon in his hand as he spoke, he saw an engraving on the barrel spelling 'Pelt' in a scratchy script he wondered if it was a pun as Scarlett started snickering.
"Sh-he, ya really went out of yor way to say that show wasn't accurate? Sh-heheh." The Rædwulf daughters' snickers continued with Karl eventually joining in. The jokey feeling faded as Bran stopped raising his colossal axe, blade shining through the leaves.
"We are not alone." He said, causing Karl to quickly put his scroll away and draw his chain-sword as Scarlett raised her own axe and Javan started swinging his lever-action pistol around aiming at the shadows between the trees. Jav, found it weird how they all instantly knew to react with possible combat but shrugged it off as he saw the creature's hidden in the magnanimous shadows of the forest. Suddenly growling grew to encapsulate the forest normal sounds as a humanoid-wolf-like beast emerged from the edge of the clearing in front of the quartet.
It stood on its hind legs slouching forward bone-like spikes protruding from its arms, back, and knees. Over its hungry red eyes was a bone-like mask with red markings. The first Grimm ever seen in the Red Trailer, a Beowolf. As quickly as the first seemed to appear Javan could see more slowly bleeding out of the shadows eventually numbering around twenty.
"This environment is not keen for battle." Said Bran, as he slid his right hand up his axe's shaft and his left clenched.
"Aye, we're damned if we stay here. Our bodies may have the instinct but I doubt that we've fought together. We'd only be making the situation worse." Continued Karl, revving on his blade. "Jav, you have night vision, any clearings nearby?"
Aiming Pelt at one of the farther Grimm Javan answered. "Not that I can see. We could split but we'd probably just die faster." Out of the corner of his eye Jav saw Scarlett move to make a remark but was stopped by a howl as the Grimm charged the quartet.
With a loud bang Javan made the first casualty, his weapon blasting off one beast head before he flicked Pelt and made a second shot. The pack ran to the enclosed group dancing between tree and shadow. Jav could tell he wouldn't be effective at picking off the Grimm right as the charges leader jumped and fell towards Scarlett.
The girl seemed to freeze for a moment before her body moved. Spinning low and to the side she went under her attacker, sliding her left hand up her axe's shaft and her right neared the pommel. As the beast just hardly passed her, she swung her axe gouging deep into the Grimm's abdomen nicking its lower ribs and as the blade caught she pulled herself into the Beowolf, an armored shoulder hitting its head and snapping its neck as the body was flung off the axe and into a nearby tree.
Looking towards the others Scarlett saw they too were engaged with the Grimm.
Bran had his axe buried into one Beowolf while jerking it around slamming haft and Grimm into his opponents, already two Grimm were disappearing into shadow at his feet. With a leonine growl the giant man gripped the gored Grimm and forced it deeper into his axe and then struck the ground with a thunderous strike killing the beast before moving onto another.
Karl was grinning like a loon and was swinging his blade around as it cleaved through one Beo' and into a tree before flicking the one of its levers and the gun-barrel-guard flipped and with a flick to the other released a burst of buckshot into the tree freeing his sword as the blade's guarded back struck like a hammer into a charging Beowolf collapsing its chest. With a flourish the Düster scion sheathed his blade and withdrew his pistol and put a round into the wounded Grimm's head.
The Rædwulf turned her attention towards the Faunus and saw that he was having trouble dealing with five Beowolves at once. Snarling, she charged at the group as Javan swung his gun's hooked bayonet into the throat of a Grimm and blasted its throat open. As one made to strike him in the back Scarlett's axe met the Beo's spine before hacking through the rest of the creature.
As the axe was freed Scarlett heard a shout of: 'Down!' from Javan. Dropping onto a knee Scarlett saw Javan's gun flip whilst extending into a spear, the head going straight into the air Scarlett occupied and hooking a flying Beowolf by the shoulder before it was dragged into Scarlett's kill. Glancing over Scarlett could see Karl mouthing apologies as his hand-cannon put another hole through a Beowolf. Snarling again, Scarlett grabbed her axe from the dying Grimm and charged the first Beowolf in sight.
Plunging her axe's head into the ground she vaulted herself over the Beowolf, with a cry she slammed her axe's shaft into the Grimm's collar freeing the head from the ground and grinning Scarlett yanked her weapon back towards herself, the bottom of the axe-head piercing the Grimm's heart. Shoving her axe out of the Beowolf Scarlett looked around the woods and saw that the others were done with their own combat. Drawing a breath Scarlett quickly joined them as Javan groaned and fell on his back.
"This… whole… thing… is… ass." Ground out Javan, his sentence marred by deep breaths. "I'm… goin'… kill… B.O.P."
Chuckling Scarlett snarked. "Sh-hehe, is ickle Javey out for the count?"
"Fuck off." Was the Faunus' witty response along with a raised finger. Snickering, Karl clapped his hands, Javan slightly noticing the metallic ding from the clap as the tan teen spoke.
"If you're both done flirting I suggest we get back on this, uh," Karl looked deeper into the woods. "Forbidden Forest, heh. Ahem, anyways we better get our asses moving again. I for one don't want to deal with more of these beasts, at least when in an unfavourable environment."
Groaning Javan spoke. "Hai, Kaiser." Snatching Pelt off the ground the striped teen gestured in the direction they were going before. "After you, Kaiser."
With an exaggerated sigh Karl waved his hand forward, Scarlett spinning her axe to sheath onto her back, Bran adjusting his grip on his giant axe and Javan reloaded Pelt following after the others into the forest. Our metaphorical camera then proceeded to fly overhead showing the grand walls of Vale just ahead of our protagonist.
