Chapter 8

Denethor was searching for his oldest son, but couldn't find him. Until he turned the corner.

Boromir was standing outside one of the rooms in the Houses of Healing, talking to the Master of the Houses in low tones. Abruptly he stopped when he saw Denethor approach.

Puzzled, Denethor asked, "What's going on Boromir? Is something wrong?"

As Boromir quickly outlined what he knew, Denethor became increasingly concerned. "Lord Cadogan will want to know what happened," he said.

Boromir nodded and — with a last backward glance — went to have a letter drafted. It was plain to Denethor from the way his oldest acted that he deeply cared for Eleanor. And that made him smile.
