Inside the Beach house, Pearl and Amethyst are nervously waiting for Steven while Garnet picks up a spork, touching it curiously.
Amethyst asked "If he finds her, he'll come back here, right?"
Steven [appears from the staircase] "Guys! Guess who's back? [to Spinel, who is at the top step in his room] Come on down."
Spinel asked "Won't they all be... not exactly incredibly thrilled [points to herself] to see me like this?"
Steven explained "We just have to talk to them. [Takes her hands and helps her downstairs] Ta-da!"
Pearl yelled "W-W-W-W-W-What?!"
Pearl summons her spear, along with Amethyst summoning her whip
Spinel flinched and Steven held her hand in comfort
Garnet asked "Oh, Spinel. Did you change your hair?"
Steven [holds out his hands] "Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Spinel got her memories back, but she's not gonna hurt us. Everything's chill."
As if on que Lion's portal suddenly opens, with Connie riding on his back through, unsheathing her sword and he lands on the ground.
Connie yelled "Aah! [jumps off him, landing by Pearl and swinging around her sword] Hah! I'm here! Where's the fight?!"
Steven declared "That timing is impeccable."
Steven yelled "Don't fight! Everything's chill!"
A sound of a toilet flushing is heard from Steven' bathroom. Greg exits, and Amethyst, Pearl, and Connie all automatically point their weapons at him.
Greg yelled "Aah! [scared] Alright, alright. I'll wash my hands." He goes back inside
"That timing couldn't have been worse." Steven joked
"One should always wash their hands." Dr. Maheswaran commented
Steven stated "Whew. Okay. Spinel, can I ask you a favor?"
Spinel asked "Are you kidding? Anything."
Cut to a shot of the injector, still draining more fluid into the Earth. A lightning bolt flashes across the sky as we pan down to see Peridot, Bismuth, and Lapis Lazuli still observing the situation. Peridot zooms in on the injector with her tablet, which shows them a dire development: the fluid is now reaching critical mass.
Lapis Lazuli declared "That sounds bad."
Bismuth declared "That looks bad."
Peridot declared "That is bad. We're hitting critical mass."
Steven stated "Then I guess we're just in time."
Peridot yelled "Aah! Steven! What's the status on Spinel?"
Steven answered "She's back, and she's here to help."
Spinel approaches the injector, turns her finger into a horn and commands the injector to remove itself from the Earth's crust. Everyone cheers at this development.
Connie asked "Okay. Can someone fill me in?"
"My future self's lack of context would be confused in this situation." Connie declared
Steven [Sighs] "Thanks, Spinel."
Spinel asked "Aw, gee. What are friends for?"
Steven smiled at Spinel and at the screen, finally his future self got his act together! Oh how wrong he was gonna be proven
Steven declined "Okay. We've almost cleaned up this mess. Now, all we need are Garnet's memories and my powers, and we can all get back to living happily ever after. What could work for Garnet? Something about fusion... something about love..."
Spinel asked "What about me?"
Steven asked "Huh?'
Spinel asked "Is that all you needed me for? To turn off my injector?"
Steven declared "No. Well... sort of, but -"
Spinel asked "Well, what now? I-I-I did what you wanted. That's it?"
Steven answered "Well, yeah. We can just... forget this whole thing ever happened."
Steven slapped his forehead in frustration and groaned "Wrong choice of words future me! What you should've said was 'We can move on from this and you can be part of our happily ever after'."
Spinel asked "How you gonna forget with me around? I'm the source of all your problems. Don't pretend you want me here. What's your plan for me, huh? You gonna put me somewhere? You gonna leave me somewhere? You gonna leave me alone?!"
"No! I can't speak for my dumb future self but Spinel is my friend!"
Steven began "Spinel..."
Before Steven can console Spinel, she smacks him, knocking him back and causing the Gem Rejuvenator to slide out of his jean pocket. Upon seeing the Rejuvenator, Amethyst and Pearl (excluding Garnet) jump away from the weapon.
Garnet asked "Oh, what's this?" She proceeds to pick up the Rejuvenator
Steven yelled "G-Garnet, do-don't touch that!" Steven grabs the Rejuvenator simultaneously as Garnet turns it on.
"Okay I was wrong, that was the worst possible timing." Steven groaned
Spinel asked "Why do you have that?"
Steven stuttered "I-I was just carrying it. I-I didn't have anywhere else to put it."
Spinel quoted "'We can just forget this ever happened'? You mean I can just forget this ever happened! [laughing hysterically] Wow! What a plan! I turn off the Injector, and then the moment my back is turned, Bam! Presto! Change-o! Problem solved! Well, think again. You're not getting rid of me that easy."
"Future me should've destroyed that thing as soon as he figured out what that was! And even if he couldn't he should've let somebody else hold onto it."
Spinel again turns her finger into a horn and commands the injector to smash into the Earth's crust.
Peridot yelled "Run for it!"
The injector smashes into the Earth's crust, splashing its bio-toxin everywhere and knocking everyone back.
Spinel declared "I'm not letting you get one over on me, Steven Universe."
Steven declared "I wasn't going to wipe your memories, Spinel."
Spinel sarcastically asked "You expect me to believe that you want me like this?"
Garnet peeks out over the crater, looking down at Steven and Spinel's confrontation.
Garnet asked "Steven? Why are you fighting? Aren't we all friends?"
Spinel declared "Looks like we've still got an audience. How about a front-row seat?"
Spinel pulls Garnet to her, coiling her arms around her body as she holds her hostage.
"And now she had a hostage…" Mr. Maheswaran groaned
Steven yelled "Garnet!"
Spinel stated "You know, this is pretty twisted, but I'm a little flattered that you liked the old me - innocent, loving, stupid. If that's your thing, why don't you leave her like this?"
Steven growled "Get away from her." He holds out the Rejuvenator.
Spinel declared "Oh, you're so protective of your real friends, and you're so careless with your fake ones!'
Steven yelled "Stop it."
Spinel yelled "Then stop me! You wanna attack me. Just admit it. Or better yet, just try it!"
Steven yelled "No!"
Spinel yell-asked "Why not?"
Steven yelled "Because that's not the truth!"
Raising the Rejuvenator into the air, Steven breaks the Gem weapon in two over his knee... enough to jog Garnet's memory.
Garnet declared "The truth…"
With an unprecedented force, Garnet suddenly breaks free from a surprised Spinel's grasp.
Garnet declared "I've known hardships and confusion, but love can live through it all if you face the truth together."
As her memories begin to flood back, Garnet begins to finally regenerate, engulfed in a bright white light.
Steven stated "Her final piece."
Spinel yelled "No. Stop! Don't you dare!"
Spinel tries to hurl a boulder to crush Garnet, to no avail, as the fusion simply breaks it apart in one punch. Garnet begins to sing
Oh, when a difficult day goes by

As she cycles through several regenerations and settles on her current; Ruby and Sapphire's rings blazing onto her fingers.

Garnet reunites with Steven, Amethyst, and Pearl, embracing in a hug.
Angrily, Spinel lunges towards Garnet as she continues singing

Garnet blocks the attack with her gauntlets and tosses her to the side. Spinel tries to attack the Crystal Gems, but Amethyst swings from the Injector with her whip, and kicks Spinel toward one of the injector's legs. Like a coil, Spinel bounces away from the injector ready to harm Steven, though Garnet grabs her ankles before she can do so. Amethyst and Pearl grab her wrists, stretching her till they fling her toward her injector. Undefeated, a grinning Spinel bounces to the top of the Injector and blows a massive horn, causing all the bio-toxin to flood Beach City.
Garnet declared "We have to stop Spinel."
Steven argued "Wait. You guys have your powers. You've gotta go save everybody. I'll deal with Spinel."
Amethyst argued "She'll crush you, dude."
Pearl declared "You can't fight her."
Steven replied "But I can still talk to her. Please, hurry."
Garnet agreed "Right. Move out."
The three Crystal Gems fuse into Alexandrite and save the citizens with the other Gems, Connie, and Greg, while Steven makes his way to the top of Spinel's injector. During the rescue, the bio-toxin wave hits Greg's left arm, turning it almost necrotic as he quickly drives the other citizens to safety. Steven sings part of the song as he weakly climbs up to the top of the injector to confront Spinel

Somehow Garnets voice sang again

Finally at the top of the injector Steven declared "Spinel, come on. We can talk this out."
Spinel stated "I don't wanna play anymore."
Steven declared "Spinel... this isn't A GAME!"
Spinel punches Steven in the face.
Steven asked "... Huh?!"
Spinel then uses a stronger, wound-up punch to send Steven over the edge of the Injector, giving him a nosebleed. From off-screen, she then extends her right arm to grab his left, then dangle him over the edge.
Spinel declared "You know, I came here to take my anger out on a bunch of strangers, but now that I know you, I wanna kill you even more."
Spinel begins letting go of Steven one finger at a time. The latter panics, looking down at the city and at Spinel, before crying out in anguish "I don't get it!"
Spinel asked "Huh?"
Steven asked "Why aren't my powers back? Aren't I reliving every horrible thing that's ever happened to me? A Gem I barely know is trying to kill me. I'm paying for stuff my Mom did that had nothing to do with me. I'm struggling with my powers. The world's about to end! - What piece could I be missing? This is the story of my life!"
Their were a lot of versions of I'm sorry said to Steven at that
In reaction, Spinel lets out an almost mocking cackle.
Spinel declared "Wow! I knew that I was gonna set you back, but this is how you started? The legend, Steven Universe? [laughs] You gotta be kidding me. How did a powerless loser like you become savior of the galaxy?!"
Steven suddenly released "... I changed. That's the final piece. All those struggles - I learned from them, and I grew. Oh, my gosh. It's not just my Gem powers I've forgotten. All of this happily ever after stuff has made me forget the first power I ever had - the power to change."
"Is he really… no I won't get my hopes up again until I'm 100% sure I've finally learned!"
Unimpressed, Spinel drops Steven to fall to his death. However, Steven's powers finally reactivate as he stops in midair. A triumphant Steven, now with his abilities finally back to him, cycles through his disk shields, to his bubble, to his spiked bubble, and then to his Gem form's geometric bubble, which he detonates in a shockwave that sends a shocked Spinel back. Floating down to the injector's surface, Steven wipes the blood from his nose and begins to sing

Engaging in battle with Spinel, who charges at him with her enlarged fists, before attacking him in a top-like form which Steven blocks and dodges as he jumps into the air. He dematerializes his shield as he gently floats down.
Steven declared "Listen to me Spinel. I understand. After everything you've been through, you must be in a lot of pain."
Spinel denied "No. No! [hits self on head] You don't understand. You can't change the way I feel!'
Reacting to her approach, Steven materializes two miniature bubbles around his fists, which he uses to parry Spinel's blows. The manic Gem strikes down at him wildly, before Steven gets away.
Steven declared "That's right! Only you can."
Annoyed, Spinel enlarges her hands to grab, spin, and toss Steven up into the sky as she bounces up after him. High up in the skies, Steven continues singing

The wayward Gem only grits her teeth, growing and coiling her arm around into a giant, spring-mounted fist.
Spinel yelled "Just can it, won't ya?!"
Cocking her fist, she aims it down at Steven.
Spinel yelled "You can't just make everything better by singing SOME STUPID SONG!"
"Okay that's definitely wrong, a good song can change people." Greg declared
Spinel punches down at a surprised Steven, sending him careening down into the injector's surface. The impact is enough to shake the earth and damage the machine, yet as Spinel descends from the sky, she sees Steven unharmed from the blow, bearing his shield.
Spinel declared "All that stuff's easy for you to say. When you change, you change for the better. When I change, I change for the worse!"
Spinel lunges at Steven, who easily defends her blows with his shield.
Spinel yelled "I used to be just not good enough! just not good enough for Pink, but now - now... I'M NOT GOOD AT ALL!"
Growing her fists to ridiculous sizes, Spinel slams them down at Steven's shield, further cracking the injector's surface. Noticing her collapse to her knees and wind down, Steven simply listens to Spinel's final breakdown.
Spinel [laughs, crying] "That's funny, r-right? A-At least you found me entertaining. You actually liked me, didn't you? What am I doing? Why do I wanna hurt you so bad? I'm supposed to be a friend. I just wanna be a friend."
Steven, in a show of sympathy, dematerializes his shield, letting down his defenses to talk with a startled Spinel.
Steven begins "Spinel - "
Before he can comfort a sobbing Spinel, the injector begins to explode from the damage it had sustained. Only capable of looking at each other, Steven and Spinel are engulfed in an earth-shattering explosion, which the Crystal Gems, Greg, Connie, and the residents of Beach City and Little Homeworld watch in shock from the safety of the latter.
Greg yelled "Steven?!"
Garnet, Amethyst, and Pearl yelled "Steven!"
Most of the audience also called out "Steven!"
