Chapter 10

The Summer Sleepover

It was the night of Matt's first sleepover with the girls. He packed a few snacks and board games for the sleepover.

Matt made his way out of the house and grabbed his scooter, riding it all the way to Sasha's house.

Once he entered, he saw Anne, Sasha, and Marcy waiting for him.

"First thing we gotta do," said Sasha. "It's about high time we watch the second season of Stranger Things."

"About time, too," said Matt. "I've been planning to get started on that season for so long, but never found the time for it on account of a ton of other things."

5 Hours Later…

The kids have finished watching the second season of Stranger Things and it was awesome.

"I think that's enough of that," said Sasha. "Besides, there's still so much other stuff I have planned."

The kids made their way down to the basement, Sasha having handed out scripts for the song she had planned to perform.

"Don't get me wrong, Sash," said Anne. "I love Lady Gaga, but are you sure it's a good idea to perform this song, especially if we're putting this on youtube?"

"Come on, Anna Banana," Sasha replied. "We're nearing our teenages. The most mature ages of our lives. It's time to get mature."

Anne thought about it, thinking, on one hand, this song is pretty mature, but then again, so are they, so maybe performing this song isn't such a bad idea.

(Paparazzi - Lady Gaga)

Sasha:

We are the crowd

We're c-coming out

Got my flash on, it's true

Need that picture of you

It's so magical

We'd be so fantastical

Yeah, yea-yeah

Leather and jeans

Garage glamorous

Not sure what it means

But this photo of us,

All:

it don't have a price

Ready for those flashing lights

Sasha:

'Cause you know that, baby, I

All:

I'm your biggest fan, I'll follow you until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Baby, there's no other superstar, you know that I'll be

Your papa-paparazzi

Promise I'll be kind

But I won't stop until that boy is mine

Baby, you'll be famous, chase you down until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Sasha:

I'll be your girl

Backstage at your show

Velvet ropes and guitars

Yeah, 'cause you know I'm starting

Between the sets

Eyeliner and all the rest

Shadow is burnt

Yellow dance in return

My lashes are dry

Purple teardrops I cry

All:

It don't have a price

Loving you is cherry pie

'Cause you know that, baby, I

I'm your biggest fan

I'll follow you until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Baby, there's no other superstar

You know that I'll be

Papa-paparazzi

Promise I'll be kind

But I won't stop

Until that boy is mine

Baby, you'll be famous

Chase you down until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Anne, Marcy, and Matt:

Real Good

Sasha:

We're dancin' in the studio

Anne, Marcy, and Matt:

Stop, stop

Sasha:

That song on the radio

Anne, Marcy, and Matt:

Don't Stop

Sasha:

For anyone

All:

We're plastic but

We'll still have fun

Sasha:

I'm your biggest fan

I'll follow you until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Sasha and Anne:

Baby, there's no other superstar

You know that I'll be

Papa-paparazzi

Sasha, Marcy, and Anne:

Promise I'll be kind

But I won't stop

Until that boy is mine

All:

Baby, you'll be famous

Chase you down until you love me

Papa-paparazzi

Once Sasha finished editing the video and posting it on Youtube, the kids made their way out of the basement.

Sasha checked her phone and saw it was almost 5AM.

"Man does time fly when you're having fun," Matt remarked.

"We still got time for one more thing," said Sasha. "The Scare-Dare."

Matt was both excited and nervous for what was to come. "What's the Scare-Dare?"

"The rules are simple," Sasha replied. "One of us comes up with a scary challenge and we all must take part in it. Whoever loses must put their name in…" She sets down a book. "The Book of Losers."

"Ooh, sounds fun," said Matt. "Say, I've got an idea. Do you have any scary games?"

"Do I?" said Sasha, bringing out a bunch of games she has.

Matt looks through all the games on the selection.

"Eenie, Meenie, Minie, this one," he says as he scrolls through until he points at the game "Five Nights at Freddy's". "A lot of kids talked about this one at my old school. I asked my parents to get me it but they refused saying the game was too scary."

Sasha inserts the game into her Xbox.

"The rules are simple," Matt said. "Whoever survives all five nights without getting jumpscared wins."

"Awesome idea of a Scare-Dare," said Sasha. "I knew allowing you into our group was a good idea."

"I'm glad you did," said Matt. "Before I met you I was a nobody. Sometimes I feel like you're the only ones in the world that understand me, so much so that I have a big thing I want to tell you about when this is over. Something I've been holding back for so long in fear of how people would react."

"Can't wait for that moment," said Sasha.

First, it was Anne's turn to play the game. She hit the start button and was brought into the first night. When she was close to finishing it, Golden Freddy appeared in the office, shocking Anne. After a few seconds, Golden Freddy jumpscared Anne and crashed the game. Anne put her name in the Book of Losers admitting "I didn't think I'd make it anyway".

It was then Marcy's turn. She did beat the first and second nights, but the third night, she focused too much on Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy that she forgot about Freddy and got jumpscared by him. Marcy put her name in the Book of Losers.

When it was Sasha's turn, she made it all the way to the fifth night. She got cocky then and accidentally used up all her power and died before she made it to 6AM. Sasha shouted in frustration and almost threw her controller but stopped herself, reminding herself that the controller was expensive. Sasha frustratedly put her name in the Book of Losers.

Finally, it was Matt's turn, and he played each and every game with determination on his face. Sasha looked at Matt playing and smiled.

He's so cute, she thought to herself. Wait, why are you thinking this, Sasha? This will end up like Tristan and every other crush all over again. Just, don't think about Matt that way.

Matt played the game and managed to make it all the way to the fifth night, and he decided he mustn't be cocky, as that led Sasha to her downfall. He played the game, checked every door periodically and kept his cameras focused on Freddy and Foxy, all the while keeping a very close eye on the power. Once it turned to 5AM, he became a lot more cautious around every choice he made until the power cut off. He sat there with the adrenaline building as Freddy appeared at the left door and started playing his music. The music stopped and the screen went black, and Matt was ready for the worst when suddenly the clock struck 6. Anne and Marcy cheered for Matt while Sasha showed a hint of jealousy before softly cheering.

"Say, have you played this game before?" asked Marcy.

"No," Matt replied. "This is my first time. I think just watching you play was enough for me to understand the strategy enough to beat it."

"Well," said Sasha. "I've gotta say, even I'm impressed. Now, I must put down my crown as queen of the Scare-Dares and give it to you. Now, changing topics, what was that thing you said you were gonna tell us about?"

"Oh," said Matt. "Please tell me you won't tell my parents or anyone about this."

"Don't worry," said Sasha. "Your secret is safe with us."

"Alright," said Matt. "I like boys… and girls. I'm bisexual."

The next thing Matt knew, Sasha was hugging him.

"That's so awesome," said Sasha. "I'm bisexual too. This is why I'm all against Christians and just homophobia in general."

"As I've heard," Mat replied. "Marcy told me that you said you'd rather kill a homophobe than a rapist, so that checks out."

"Oh, that?" said Sasha. "I only said that as a joke. I may hate Christians and Homophobes but I'd never actually kill someone for being either of those things."

Anne and Marcy sigh in relief.

That's when Matt sees his parents' car and says, "That's my ride home. Later, taters." before he pats the girls on the back and leaves.
