Chapter 11
First Day Back
Before the kids knew it, the summer was over, and it was time to head back to school.
"Do you ever wish Summer would last longer?" asked Matt.
"Do you even have to ask that?" Anne replied.
"Well, we're here and there's no going back," said Sasha. "Now, where's your first period?"
"Theater," Matt, Marcy, and Anne replied in unison.
"Awesome, me too," said Sasha.
The bell rings and the four kids head over to the auditorium, where the teacher, Mr. Hopkins explains what we're going to do in this class. The first thing he explains is the play the school plans for us to perform in this semester, that being Peter Pan.
After spending First Period just getting to know the teacher and everything that will be done in the class, the bell rang and everyone went to their next period.
Matt saw how Anne looked upset.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
"I'm fine," said Anne. "I just didn't really want to do theater since…"
Flashback
When Anne was five years old, she performed in a school play related to teeth. At some point in the play, Anne had to sing a line. She went "I'm a tooth that's the truth…" before she tripped and caused a cardboard cutout of a toothbrush to tip over and knock down the spotlights, setting the theater on fire.
End of Flashback
"Four out of Five Dentists say, I was traumatized," Anne finished. "I only took part in this class because Sasha said it would provide better opportunities, and I'm just worried of what could go wrong."
"I'm kinda nervous about this, too," said Matt. "As much as I loved making those music videos with you, and wasn't nervous at all, performing it live in front of a crowd is a whole different story."
Anne and Matt stood there shocked at everything Sasha just said.
"You basically just read my mind," said Matt.
"Well, I'll see you both at Lunch," said Anne, before heading for her second period.
During lunch period, Matt heads to his and his friends' usual spot, just to find them not there.
That's when something knocks him out.
When Matt wakes up, he finds himself in a dark room. He sees Anne, Sasha, and Marcy in the room as well, as all four of them were tied together.
That's when a boy with white skin, a mole on his right cheek, and a torn up uniform enters the room.
"Tristan," Sasha muttered.
"So you remember me," said Tristan. "I'm not surprised. I've heard you talking bad about me and my religion whenever you thought I wasn't around, but I was always listening."
"I know those aren't your actual beliefs, Tristan," said Sasha.
"Man, being atheist has messed up your mind," asked Tristan.
"Is it me being atheist messing with me or is it you being Christian messing with you?" Sasha argued.
"Can't argue with crazy," said Tristan, before he brought out a knife.
By then, Marcy found a way to untie the rope and allow the kids to spread out and cause Tristan to miss Sasha.
Matt runs towards Tristan and shoves him away from Sasha.
Tristan tries to slash Matt in the stomach with his knife, but Matt dodges the attack and grabs the knife, throwing it to the side. The two then get into a fight in hand to hand combat.
Matt eventually managed to overpower Tristan and knocked him out.
Matt and the girls escaped the room they were locked in, which was the backstage of the theater.
That's when Mr. Hopkins and a couple of Security Guards appeared.
"What were you four doing in there?" he asked.
"Uh, we can explain," said Sasha before Tristan popped up and grabbed Sasha by the neck.
"NOBODY MOVE OR SHE GETS IT!" Tristan threatened, putting his knife towards Sasha's throat to prove he was being serious.
That's when one of the Security Guards grabbed a gun and taser and pointed them at Tristan.
Tristan still persisted and tried to slash Sasha's throat when the Security Guard shot the knife out of Tristan's hand, shooting off a finger in the process. Sasha uses this distraction to kick Tristan in the crotch before she, Matt, Anne, and Marcy make their leave.
The kids ran away from the auditorium for a while before they stopped to catch their breaths.
"See, this is an example of what Christians are like," Sasha told Matt.
"If you're trying to get me to start hating Christians and my parents, it's not working," said Matt. "So, one Christian happened to be insane, I'll need concrete evidence to prove that all Christian's are bad."
Sasha smacked her head in frustration.
That's when the 5th period bell rang.
Matt made his way there along with Marcy.
"I'm glad you're trying not to be all hateful," said Marcy. "As much as I view Homophobia as a problem that those guys need to fix, it's nothing worth expressing so much hate over."
Later, during 5th period, the principal called and asked if she could have Matt and Marcy for checkout, so the 2 grabbed their stuff and headed for their lockers to get their stuff.
Once they finished grabbing their stuff, they head to the front office, where they see their parents waiting for them.
Matt's parents were driving him home.
"We heard about you getting attacked at the school," said Julia. "Until they get that Tristan kid dealt with, we're homeschooling you."
"Nice to know you care," Matt muttered to himself.
Once Matt got home, he went inside and went to his room to continue with his schoolwork. Matt saw Anne in her room also doing schoolwork. The two simply waved at each other before closing their curtains.
