Chapter Twelve. Unexpected Arrival
Ruby grabbed the Deadite Dalton and dragged him across the area.
"Yeah, Yeah." Ruby retorted, dragging the deadite in front of her car.
"Betrayer." Dalton snarled.
Not paying attention to his snarling, she got the book and began chanting in Sumerian. This caused the knight to stop his snarling and lose consciousness in the process.
Ruby nodded before she walked over to the still form of Dalton and gently kicked him, "Hey. You with me, Knight Boy?"
"What did you do?" Dalton asked.
"Pushed away the evil," Ruby answered, "just for a bit. We need to talk."
"You're Ruby..." Dalton glanced up at her, "the Dark One from the legend."
"And you're the descendant of those knucklehead knights," Ruby retorted, "It's a pity. I thought I killed you all."
"You thought wrong, witch," Dalton growled.
"How many more of your delusional morons are out there?"
"Enough to kill you...and send you straight to hell." Dalton answered.
Annoyed, Ruby grabbed Dalton by the branch and tossed him to the hood of the car, "Wrong response."
She grabbed him by the coat and made him face her, "For the record, hell is not my turf."
Ruby gently tapped his jacket and proceeded to ask, "Where's the rift?"
"The what?"
"The rift you opened with those lost pages. Where is it?"
"Even if I knew, I wouldn't tell you," Dalton answered, "but I'll tell you this. We found the Kandarian dagger, and the ones who have it, know all about you."
Ruby quickly twisted the branch that had impaled Dalton, causing him pain.
"Who's got it?" she asked. Twisting harder, causing him pain, she spoke louder, "I want names."
Suddenly, she felt a cold metal touching her neck.
"Do not move any further, or you will be beheaded." a voice spoke up.
"Who dares to speak to me in that tone?" Ruby demanded before she turned around and was startled upon seeing a man with dark hair, holding a sword.
"Impossible," Ruby gasped, "You're one of those immortals. The MacLeods."
"That's correct," the man replied, "my name's Duncan MacLeod. I suggest you leave if you don't want to lose your head."
Ruby huffed in response, "Fine. The knight's the least of my problems."
She turned around and proceeded to leave.
-Collision-Course-
Dalton looked around, confused as Ruby drove away, What was that about?
He looked up at the mysterious man before him. This man was the one who saved him, and he recognized the legend, at least the name Ruby spat out before she left.
"The MacLeods?" Dalton asked, confused.
"Yes," the man knelt down to him, "Like I told that demon, my name's Duncan MacLeod. You're going to have to trust me here as I take out the branch that you're impaled on."
Dalton didn't know what to think. Could he trust this man? What was going to happen after he removed the branch?
"This Deadite evil does not affect us," Duncan assured Dalton, "and it won't affect you either. Trust me. After you wake up, I will explain everything to you."
Dalton saw lots of blood come out of him before everything faded out to black.
-Collision-Course-
James looked on as he and the others arrived at Old Mill Road, the location of Miss Prevett's house, where Ruby was supposedly hiding out at.
"This is it." James stated with determination.
"You ain't whistling Dixie either." Ash replied.
"No shit." Kento replied.
"Kento!" Amaya exclaimed.
The group looked to see that Ryo, Rekino, Rowen, Hana and Sage have all arrived as well.
"Hey guys," Ryo greeted James' group.
"Where are Kelly and Pablo?" Ash asked, "My daughter too?"
"They're safe at Twyla's house," Rowen answered.
"Enough talk," Rekino stated, getting out her swords, "I'm ready to take on this demon named Ruby!"
"We all are!" Kento replied.
"Well, what are you waiting for?"
Everyone turned around to find that Ruby has stepped out of her car, with a smirk on her face.
"I am ready to take you on," Ruby stated, "All of you."
