Hello There.
Hope you all enjoying the new chapters, not much to say other than I had a very interesting idea for this story later on if we get to it. Not really me going "Read the story or else" lol but more I had an interesting idea and can't help thinking about it.
Anyway, random thoughts aside.
Here we go.
Honestly? Weiss couldn't see how their night could get any more difficult. The lack of Myternaster's familiar weight at her side made the heiress more annoyed then it should have. Perhaps it was because her most dear possession was stuck in the belt of a digusting White Fang man that made it hurt more then she'd have expect.
Pushed forwards, their hands bound behind them, Weiss and Ruby were pushed towards that complete degenerate of a thief that was called Roman Torchwick. Stealing from her family clearly wasn't enough for the criminal if he was willing to work with the White Fang to commit literal acts of terror against Vale. The once simple thief climbed down from his perch by the carriage of a train, for some reason, and began walking over to the two.
Despite his swaggering cadance and the air of nonchalance at the situation, Weiss could see the tell-tale signs of stress, lack of sleep, and strangely, a touch of a concern that barely could be seen behind Torchwick's admittedly forced smirk. The faunus that found them, Perry if Torchwick was to be believed, pointed at the two captured huntresses.
"We found them after part of the road above collapsed and fell down here. We got guys watching incase the Grimm come down but we weren't sure to station any sentries topside without your imput." Perry explained to Torchwick, who seemed to be more interested in the two girls before him. Curiously, she noticed him glance quickly over Ruby before looking back at the damn White Fang gathering around them.
Weiss knew she was the one with the biggest risk by being here. A Schnee, the heiress to the SDC nonetheless, captured and held without any way to defend herself or call for help?
The second she got an opening, Weiss was taking it.
Torchwick didn't say a word for a moment as he glared at the White Fang muttering around them, clearly noticing the identity of their captive.
"Let's gut these bitches and send them back to Atlas!" A voice cried out as the pack of animals gathered around their prize. Weiss put a fierce scowl on her face as she fixed the most vitriolic glare she could on the Fang.
"Give me my weapon and I'll show YOU who shall be gutted and sent back to their home." She growled back loudly, making a number of the White Fang stare at her with angry expression, though to her pleasure a few of them seemed to realise that Weiss was no mere spoiled daddy's girl, but a huntress in training more then capable of beating them senseless, even disarmed.
Torchwick, however, seemed somehow even more enraged at the White Fang' antics then herself, and snapped his fingers loudly. A few seconds of surprised silence passed before someone screamed out in pain, and a masked faunus was dragged out by a small girl also clad in the White Fang's uniform. A few people seemed to look at the girl in confusion, whispering to each other but outside of Weiss' hearing, she could not make out was being said.
The girl dragged the man before Torchwick, who gave the man a deadpan expression.
"I-I-I-I-I didn't mean a-a-anything by it! I promise!" The man shouted fearfully, constantly glancing at the girl holding him down by his neck with terror clear in his eyes.
Torchwick merely sighed before leaning down to the terrified faunus.
"Do you...have any...actually ANY, idea how stupid you just were?" The thief quietly spoke to the restained grunt. Despite his quiet tone, it echoed much louder in the cavern as all the previous sounds going on had fallen silent at her and Ruby's capture. Risking a glance to the side, Weiss could not see Ruby's face as it was hanged low and hidden behind black and red hair.
Raising his cane, Torchwick pointed up at the noticable hole in the ceiling as he continued to monologue, "You see that hole there? With your amazing faunus night vision?" As the man looked up to gaze at the chasm Ruby and Weiss had fallen down, Torchwick swung his cane down, slamming directly between the faunus man's eyes and shattering his nose, sending blood and snot flying into the ground before them, a small speck of blood landing on the criminals boot. Tutting slightly, he rolled the now prone man onto his back with his foot, looking down at the man. "THAT is a direct passage for the GRIMM, and whoever else is hiding out there to FIND US." He then pressed a switch on his cane, causing the end to flip open with a sight and a barrel, before pointing directly at the shaking man below him.
What a curious weapon, Weiss felt her thoughts randomly say to her for a moment.
Torchwick continued, unnoticed by Weiss' thoughts, "And your first reaction was scream out, 'Let's gut these bitches'? Because getting everyone worked up and angry. and more importantly, LOUD, wasn't going to have everything out there come crashing down on our heads?" The man was sobbing loudly as Torchwick was slowly fingering the trigger to his weapon. "And, why, pray tell, should I leave you nothing more then a SMEAR on the floor, hmm?"
Torchwick's tone was so casual, yet so clearly enraged, Weiss couldn't be sure he wasn't going to murder the man right there and then right in front of her.
While Weiss despised the White Fang, that didn't mean she wanted to see a man executed right in front of her...
Thankfully, Torchwick relented and lowered his weapon to his side.
"Unfortunately, treating you like the waste of resources you are would inevitably bring the Grimm down on us anyway, so you best hope you don't FUCK UP again." Kicking the man to the side, Torchwick stared around at the gathered White Fang. "What are you all waiting for?! Our timeline just got moved up! Get your damn asses moving, we need this train packed and ready to move YESTERDAY." Glancing over at the girl that had dragged the instigator over, he nodded at the girl, who returned the act before walking up behind her and Ruby, pulling them to their feet and pushing them forwards as they were made to follow the criminal into a nearby ruined building.
It was sparsely decorated, a table, a few couches and a fridge powered by a small generator in the corner. The girl behind them gestured towards one of the couches and Weiss, not seeing any reason to refuse, sat primly down next to Ruby, who seemed to be looking at anything in the room so long as it didn't have a pulse.
Opposite to them, Torchwick fell back and leaned his head back on the couch, his gaze directed up at the roof of the ruined structure.
"Man, it's hard to get good help nowadays, I swear." The thief muttered, before looking down at his two captives. "Soooooo, Red and Ice Queen, whatever brought you to my humble abode?"
Weiss curled her lip and looked away, refusing to speak to the thief.
"Mission from Beacon, we got sent to hunt the Grimm and find what you and the White Fang were up to." Ruby's voice suddenly whispered, Weiss' head spinning with a shocked expression to look at her partner, who refused to meet her face. Torchwick merely nodded along with a frustrated sigh.
"That would sound about right, use the Grimm Extermination class of missions as a cover to investigate suspecious locations. Ozzy never changes..." Torchwick said with closed eyes.
Did Torchwick know the headmaster? And how did he know about mission classifications.
It must have been noticable on her face as Torchwick gave her a weak laugh.
"Oh relax, your heiressness, I used to go to Beacon, dropped out after a few years for reasons you wouldn't understand." The thief explained as he gestured over at the girl, still standing behind them, to make herself comfortable. Curious, given the interaction she'd just witness, that the White Fang would be happy to work with him given how he attacked their own. "She's not actually White Fang, one of mine, buuuut when your meant to be conducting a terrorist attack on Vale FOR the White Fang it makes a bit more sense."
Weiss recoiled at Torchwick's blatent admittance to his plan.
"You are going to attack VALE?! Why!? You live there just like everyone else!" She demanded, unable to keep the shock from her face.
Roman just sighed and looked down at the floor.
"Look Ice Prin-Weiss," He amended, not that Weiss cared to notice at the moment, "Who said that I wanted to be doing this?" He gave her a hard expression, one that clearly showed to her his own enthusiasm for the task.
"But...why...if..." Weiss couldn't find the words.
"But if I don't want to be involved, why am I here planning to ride a train into Vale to bring the Grimm pouring into the city?" Torchwick accurately summised, Weiss nodding in perplexed shocked. Torchwick shrugged and raised his arms out wide. "Because if I don't, I die and everyone I care about from number one through three die."
Weiss still didn't understand. A huntsmen, even a drop out, would be more then capable of either beating any the White Fang sent or, failing that, at least be able to escape. The man in front of her chuckled with a shake of his head.
"Oh, it's not the Fang making me do this, it's someone else. Someone infinately more dangerous and who would kill me even if I tried to run. Besides, where could I run? The police?" Torchwick asked with a scoff, "They are useless and would fold like cards. The Academy? Ozzy would try his best but it wouldn't be enough if this is the least she's got planned." Weiss, despite her complete lack of understanding, noted away his use 'she' for later review. Someone, a woman, was clearly the mastermind behind this. "And I know what you are thinking, but I'd think Ozpin already knows I'm not the mastermind of all this. I may be a thief, a criminal and otherwise not a great guy, I'm not a fucking terrorist."
"Then what about General Ironwood?" Weiss blurted out. Roman just laughed loudly.
"That's the plan!" Torchwick laughed before waving at the girl behind them. "Be a dear and take Weiss to the train, little Red and I have some unfinished buisness."
Before Weiss could react, a hand touched her shoulder and the world shattered like glass.
Yang and Blake had their campsite broken and their equipment packed within minutes.
While the two girls rushed to pack away anything they, as well as Ruby and Weiss, might have needed, their professor stood off to the side, speaking into his Scroll as he hooked it up to a small relay he carried, likely telling the pilot to make ready for evac. As soon as he had finished his call, the doctor turned around and saw both his remaining students armed and ready to move out. At his side, Zwei waited expectantly, clearly eager to get moving.
"Excellent work girls time is of the essences right now so anything you left behind is being left behind." Oobleck nodded approvingly.
"Do we have any idea where they went, Doctor?" Yang asked concernedly. That half her team had disappeared last night...
Yang didn't want to think about it.
Thankfully the huntman nodded and pointed at Zwei.
"He arrived earlier this morning just as I was waking and found Miss Roslinen and Miss Schnee missing. Judging by the dirt on his coat and his rushed pace as he arrived I believe the two girls followed him sometime last night within the last two hours and something went wrong that only he could make it back. Best case scenario they are merely cut off from us, worst case..." He failed to continue, eyes narrowing behind thick glasses.
"We'll find them sir." Blake said, determination evident in her voice. With a nod, their professor took off running, Blake and Yang close on his heels. As they made their way down the street, caution left to the winds, Grimm began to run out to attack them, much to Yang's frustration. She pulverised anything that dared to get between her and their destination, as Blake slid and leapt between Grimm, Gambol Shroud falling like an executioner's blade.
To her surprise, and lack of, Oobleck lead their charge, his thermos telescoping out into a vague club shape with a pilot lighter on the front. With every swing of his weapon, he tore through the Grimm, incinerating any that dare to step in his way while Zwei bravely led them on, unflinching at the sights and sounds of combat around him and focused on getting them to their destination.
Ahead of them, a massive horde of all kinds of Grimm, from Creeps to Beowolves to Ursa and even King Taijitu, came barrelling down the road ahead of them. While Zwei barked down at a side street, it was clear the Grimm would catch up too quickly. Readying herself, Yang prepared to let her semblence loose as her fire sparked and her eyes turned red. Above the horde, a small bird flew above them.
Then suddenly, a towering apartment building in front of the Grimm suddenly shuddered as what visible supports began to crack and groan, before the whole tower began to fall in front of the horde. While most were outside the impact zone, a number of the faster Grimm found themselves crushed.
Thanking their good luck, the party found themselves quickly coming to a stop in front of a great split in the road. Yang looked down and recoiled in surprise at the sight of what appeared to be an underground cityscape.
Oobleck, who also had taken a look down the hole, suddenly gasped.
"OF COURSE! How could I be so foolish!?" He cursed himself as he pulled out his relay and scroll again. Blake looked down at their now kneeling, confused.
"What do you mean Doctor?" She asked, clearly not in the mood to be kept in the dark.
The Doctor, however, didn't answer for a moment until his scroll connected to whoever he was trying to reach.
"Qrow! It's Oobleck, the White Fang is using the tunnels! They're using the underground tracks to transport their supplies and forces!" The Doctor shouted.
"Uncle Qrow?!" Yang gasped with shocked eyes. While they couldn't hear a response from Yang's uncle, Oobleck nodded before ending the call and immediately dialled another number. "Doctor how do you have my Uncle's number?" She demanded, but the professor waved her off.
"Ozpin assigned him to assist us in secret. Did you really think we would send one team of students and single professional huntsmen when we know for sure we are being attacked?" He asked rhetorically before his scroll connected. "This is Doctor Oobleck, Qrow and I have found the White Fang but we are going to need Beacon ready for a potential attack. Get back and inform the headmaster immediately and if anyone stops you tell them I sent you and we have a code black." The pilot must have been ready to go because not even a few seconds later Oobleck nodded and ended his second call.
"Doctor, what is going on here?" Blake demanded, hands clenched tightly in restrained anger.
A voice came from behind them, making both girls spin with weapons raised.
"The White Fang are using the tunnels as a base, to hide not only from us but the Grimm as well. We completely forgot to account for there still being a way down there after it was sealed since we believed all entrences were, if the White Fang didn't just open one themselves." Qrow explained as he quickly marched over and looked down at the chasm in the road with narrowed eyes.
Oobleck walked next to Qrow as the two huntsmen whispered quickly to each other. With a nod, Qrow suddenly leapt down into the hole as Oobleck turned around.
"Qrow will go ahead and try and locate your teammates in stealth while we shall make for the closest entrence which should be..."He glanced down as his scroll for a moment before point at a building just down the road. "...there. Come girls we have your teammates to locate and White Fang to stop."
The moment Weiss teleported away with Neo, father and daughter quickly got up and pulled each other into a tight hug, Ruby's quiet sobs muted by Roman's coat, and had it been anyone else, he would have beaten them within an inch of their life for putting a stain on his white coat.
"Shhhh, it's okay, it's okay Ruby..." Roman whispered into his girl's ear, letting her have her moment in peace.
As time slowly passed for the two, Ruby's tearful eyes met his own green ones.
"I'm so sorry! I didn't know you'd be here!" Ruby tearfully apologised. Roman just pulled her back into the hug, rubbing the girl's back patiently.
"It's fine Ruby. I'm glad I will get to see you one more time should things go bad." Roman whispered, making Ruby's head snap back to his face as her still teary eyes widened at him. Sitting her down next to him and holding her in one arm, he continued, "We...never really had a decent shot of stopping her before she could pull all this off. Turns out, this is all a load of shit." He scowled as he reached for a cigar but found none left in his pockets. "I'm not any closer to working her out, but she wants me to take this train and bomb the railway so the Grimm have a direct line to Vale. To cause death and destruction once all the students from Beacon are out on missions. Why, I have no idea but I'm supposed to get caught by Atlas and held by them for...something."
Roman sighed as Ruby wrapped her arms around him, shaking her head.
"No no no no no no..." The girl quietly whispered before looking up at him, eyes desperately searching for an out, an escape, even a distraction that could get them out of this. With a deep sigh, Roman shook his head, to which Ruby could only stare at him. "We...we...we could tell Ozpin! He trusts me, and Qrow does too so I bet they could be convinced we are telling the truth...and...and...and..."
Roman just shook his head again.
"They could protect us, they could aid us, but they won't be able to stop whatever Cinder has in mind. Even if they killed her...I overheard her talking to...someone, about something kept in Beacon, and if there is more to this then meets the eye, we can't be seen to have betrayed whoever Cinder is working for or we're done...especially when they can arrange all this so quickly and without notice..." Roman muttered more to himself then Ruby, who was still shaking in his arm.
"Then we fucking RUN!" Ruby shouted, pulling herself out from Roman's arm and standing in front of the man, arms wide. "We can run! You, me, Neo, maybe my team and even Qrow! We survive together! That's what we do isn't it Dad?! We lie, we cheat, we steal and we SURVIVE!" The waterworks were running anew as Ruby fell to her knees, tears streaking down her cheeks.
Roman, standing up, stepped in front of his adopted daughter, before taking a knee and gently raising Ruby's crying eyes to his own soft expression.
"You know I'll always be proud of you, and Neo. You two learned so much and are both more then capable of making it out there." Roman explained, before giving Ruby a sly smile. "Besides, I told you it was to cause mayhem in Vale while the students were gone, and well..." His smile took a slightly vicious edge, one he knew Ruby was more then familiar with. "Given we just got found by some brave huntress, I'm going to have to attack as soon as possible and entirely unprepared, who knows what might happen once we get to Vale." Roman sighed before looking away. "Only problem is, if we are going to make this work, I need to get arrested and we need to break into Vale. But hopefully with this rush, and your girls being here, then the damage can be contained and the overall effect of whatever that bitch Cinder is planning being less then expected."
Ruby, eyes still red with tears, nodded along as she slowly caught up with what Roman was putting down, and gave the her adopted father a small smile.
"And...then I arrest you and we can take you to Beacon for safety?" She asked, clearly hoping that was the plan, but Roman just sighed and hugged her once more.
"No...she'll have her goons turn up to have me taken in by Ironwood, just like I told your partner. For what I don't know...maybe to divert attention from her own actions or the Fang's." Roman explained, before giving her a reassuring smile. "And don't worry, Neo will still be free and if you need anything, you know your sister will deliver, even if Cinder will have her acting for another teammate for the festival."
Ruby nodded, then frowned slightly.
"So...the festival is her plan?" She questioned with narrowed, wet eyes. Roman smirked and patted her head.
"That's right, we still got time, but Ruby?" Roman looked at his daughter with a serious expression that was rarely seen on the thief's face. "Whatever you do, whatever happens...you make sure you survive. Neo will too, but even should the worst happen to me, I want you to look after each other, no matter what."
Ruby nodded as her silver eyes finally began to return to a less tearing state.
"I promise, Dad."
Weiss and Ruby were initially confined to an empty train car, the two girls quiet and watched from the open car door as the White Fang scrabbled around with crates of Dust and other equipment. Occasionally, Torchwick's voice could be heard echoing orders around, but as a whole, the two girls merely watched and observed. A pair of grunts leaned against the cart, holding the girl's weapons while making sure they were properly restrained but otherwise not paying attention.
At least an hour and forty-five minutes had passed, the Fang moving quickly, like Torchwick had explained, as they were likely now on the clock to get this finished before they were discovered. While the girls hadn't said much during their imprisonment, other than to make sure neither were harmed, they were waiting patiently, for the right moment.
Weiss knew they had one go at this, and failure would likely result in cut losses and their deaths.
Weiss was about to lean over to Ruby and suggest they attempt some kind of ruse, when the small girl Torchwick claimed was not White Fang walked up to the guards and handed them a note. The senior of the two, in both age and likely experience, nodded in understanding as the girl wandered off. A few moments later, the two guards clambered into the car, rifles raised and aimed at the two unarmed girls.
"Get up, we're moving you so the others can fill this car. Try anything and I'll dump this magazine into you before you can think." The guard with Myternaster said with narrowed eyes, gesturing for the two to stay still as his companion moved forward to untie and retie their hands.
Weiss shared a quick glance with Ruby, who nodded imperceptibly.
As soon as the guard came to undo Ruby's bindings, Weiss lowered a hand to the floor, waiting for the perfect moment.
The second the guard had finished untying Ruby's wrists to where they were being kept, the redhead immediately activated her semblence, evaporating in a cloud of red petals that blinded everyone. Weiss, expecting her partner's distraction, immediately let her semblence flow to her hand, as a glyph appeared under her hand that quickly duplicated to where the still armed guard was. The faunus, instinctively taking a step back at the sight of Ruby making an attempt to escape to bring her into sight, was sent flying into a wall with a loud clang as he slipped up at the sudden acceleration caused by her Glyph, knocking him out instantly.
By this point, Ruby had gotten her Crescent Rose of the back of the other guard, who clearly knew he was out matched and made to shout, was silenced by the still gun form of Crescent Rose slamming across his face, also knocking him out. Ruby, seeing Weiss had taken out her guard, immediately cut Weiss' bindings and the heiress raced to the form of the unconscious guard with her weapon.
Myternaster's comfortable handle once more in her grip, Ruby nodded at Weiss, who in return selected some Burn Dust as the two leaped out of the carriage. To the White Fang's credit, they heard the commotion and had came over to investigate.
"The prisoners are escaping!" A woman's voice echoed out as a squad of White Fang armed with a selection of swords and clubs charged at them. Weiss smirked and swung Myrternaster wide as Burn Dust blazed out the chamber of her weapon, driving back the White Fang and igniting some stray Dust, that proceeded to explode, flinging White Fang all over the ground.
"This way!" Ruby shouted, firing her weapon as she ran down an empty street, laying down covering fire for Weiss to retreat. In the distance, Roman Torchwick was shouting out orders for the Train to get ready to start moving. The thief idly shot a few explosives down their direction, but with a distinct lack of decent accuracy.
Guess he needed that sight more than he realised...
Weiss blinked her eyes before dismissing the thought that suddenly came to mind. Quickly the two girls managed to disengage, and Weiss turned to speak to Ruby when they both heard a familiar voice shouting out.
"WEISS! RUBY!" The concerned voice of Yang came, quickly followed by Blake, Doctor Oobleck, and surprisingly, Mister Branwen who had Zwei following by his heels. The blonde quickly reached them and pulled the two into a tight, desperate hug. "NEVER DISAPPEAR LIKE THAT AGAIN!" Weiss could hear the anguish in Yang's tone, her eyes widening, before she returned the brawler's embrace.
"We were terrified that White Fang would hurt you two." Blake explained simply, even if the blatent relief on her face couldn't be hidden. Quickly pulling themselves free of Yang's arms, the two quickly shared a glance before Ruby looked over at Oobleck and Qrow.
"Torchwick has a train full of White Fang and Dust, they want to use it lead the Grimm in a direct path to Vale." Ruby announced, making both their teammates flinch in surprise, while Qrow swore explosively and Oobleck's eyes went wide behind his glasses.
"But, the exit has been sealed...th-there's no way for the Grimm to get in to Va-" The Doctor's words failed him as he shared a sharp look with Qrow, who nodded. "They must be using the train to make a breach where the old train lines were covered up. Opening right up in the middle of Vale! Hurry Team RWBY we MUST stop that train!"
Ruby and her team nodded gravely, and the group quickly began making their way to where the train was beginning to steam away. With a burst of speed, they all managed to reach the rear car in time, Qrow swiping up Zwei to help the poor dog onto the roof of the car. With a nod from Ruby, Blake opened up the roof panel, and they all prepared to unlesh hell on whoever was inside, when all they saw was Dust and a timer.
"Ruby...when you said Dust...?" Yang trailed off, eyes wide at the fact they had nearly blown themselves up.
Qrow, however, was quick on the uptake and pointed to the front of the train with his giant blade.
"We need to stop this train before the cabooses can go off! A chain reaction under Vale would be devastating." The huntsmen declared.
"Yes! We need to detach them before they kill us all!" Oobleck added as their team jumped to the next car, Blake leaping down between cars to slice the connector. Before she could swing her weapon, it disconnected. The faunus looked up at them with a confused frown, before the detached car exploded some distance behind the racing train.
Oobleck immediately waved Blake back up with a shout. "They don't intend to cause a chain reaction, it's to draw more Grimm!"
Weiss looked at her team leader, who was gaze was focused at the front of the train. Putting a hand on her partner's shoulder, Ruby looked back at them all.
"We need to get to the front of the train." Ruby instructed simply.
Between the White Fang trying to get in their path, their pace to the front of the train wasn't too delayed, but every second they got closer to Vale, and now a number of Paladins were bearing down on their position.
As they reached what appeared to be the last of the bomb and passanger cars, Oobleck pointed at another panel.
"Weiss, Blake, Yang, you three accompany Qrow down into the cars. Stop this train." He commanded simply before looking at a glaring Ruby. "Miss Roslinen, I'll be needing your assistance up here with your weapon of choice." While Ruby didn't stop the glare levelled at her professor, she sighed and nodded.
Qrow jumped down first, Harbinger raised and ready to blast anything waiting for them. Thankfully the cart was empty as the rest of team RWBY entered.
"Let's get moving, no time to waste." Qrow order, rushing forward as the girls ran behind him. As they made their way through several empty cars, likely their previous occupants now being overran by Grimm following them down the tracks.
Poor bastards, but they made their choice, at least in Qrow's eyes.
As they entered another car, Qrow raised a fist, the girls pausing behind him in confusion. Qrow's eyes raced across the seemingly empty car, before raising Harbinger and firing off a blast that blow an empty crate apart. From above, a shadow fell onto the huntsmen, swinging a spear down aimed to impale Qrow. The Huntsmen simply swiped his blade at his attacker, forcing her to disengage or risk being split in two. Their attacker, a small girl, flipped back and landed in a ready position. While she was dressed like a regular White Fang grunt, her stance, aura and lack of presence was setting off all manner of alarm bells in Qrow's head.
Yang, clearly didn't have his finely tuned survival instinct and rush forwards, swinging punch after punch and kick after kick at the girl, who deflected and dodged them with ease. Suddenly, Yang's opponent flashed strangely and Yang was sent stumbling back as a spear butt slammed into the brawler's nose, before quickly slamming into Yang's gut with enough force to launch her back. Qrow grabbed his niece's shoulder before she could rush back in with a snarl.
"Easy, Firecracker, your a bit out of your league here." Qrow said as he walked forward towards the girl, who was now reclining on a box, arms resting on the spear between her shoulders. While he couldn't make out any facial features, Qrow could feel the girl's eyes on him. "You three get to the front, I'll catch up."
The girls behind him nodded and rush wide. The girl made no attempt to stop them as she watch Qrow walk up, Harbinger resting on his shoulder, ready to mechashift.
The next interruption that got in Yang's way was a massive hulk of a faunus, armed with a massive chainsaw.
"Oh you gotta be kidding me..." Yang muttered, annoyed. Blake merely had a flat look while Weiss scowled and rolled her eyes. The faunus before them started walking forward, revving his chainsaw as he gave out a dark chuckle.
"Good, my turn. I've always wanted to kill a Schnee..." The faunus' low, predatory tone echoed in the room before Yang just smirked.
"Ha, how long you been holding that one in your back pocket? Really that's the best you got?" Yang joked as she levelled a bemused expression at the man, who paused and looked at Yang, likely glaring behind his bone white mask that covered his face.
"Well, I guess the Schnee can wait her turn. I'll grind you into Dust, Blondie." The man threatened as he took a stance with his chainsaw. Must have had a bit of formal training then.
Yang smirked at Blake and Weiss as she quickly flicked a fresh pair of braces for her shotguns.
"I got this, you girl want to go ahead? Remember to play nice!" Yang smirked as she launched herself forwards with a blast of Ember Celcia. The lieutenent, obviously seeing her coming, swung his chainsaw wide in an attempt to catch Yang before she could get close. Yang, anticipating this, slammed Ember Celcia down on the saw, knocking it away and into a spin with a kick directly to the faunus man's face. Blake and Weiss, much like last time, rushed wide while Yang went on the offencive with a series of jabs and hooks.
The Lieutenent was too slow to block her rapid attacks, but managed to work out her rthyme and caught one of her fist, flinging her into a wall with a crash. He swung his chainsaw at her, aiming to cut her in half with a series of wild but hefty swings that tore through walls, crates and probably Yang if she didn't manage to launch herself forwards and up with a raising uppercut, knocking the Lieutenent back a few paces with groan of pain.
Yang eyed the man down. Fists raised.
The Lieutenent met her gaze, chainsaw low and to the side.
They charged.
Qrow smirked down at the girl, who was simply looking up at her, face hidden behind a White Fang mask.
"So, anyway I can't convince you to realise how bad an idea this is?" He asked jokingly. The girl before him just shrugged before tilting her head to the side. Qrow returned the shrug. "Well, I tried the nice way, now I gotta go the Harbinger way."
He felt a warning from his aura, and immediately leaning back, swing Harbinger in a low, wide arc. A spear point darted through where his head had just been, even as the girl twirled over his blade, immediately jabbing at him once more, forcing Qrow to disengage and take a step back. The girl's pressure didn't lighten, lightning fast jabs mixed in with wide sweeps of her spear's blade. Qrow deflected and dodged, trying to make distance so he could even the range game, but his attacker didn't give him an opening. With narrowed eyes, Qrow danced around one jab and slammed his forearm into the girl's face. Before his arm could even land, however, she leaned forward, and with impressive flexibility, tried to boot Qrow in the face as her leg bent over her leaning body. But with a smirk, Qrow caught the girl's foot and heaved, launching the girl down the car.
She recovered beautifully, landing on her feet, legs splayed and spear held ready.
Eyes narrowing again, Qrow pulled a level as Harbinger extended, handle extending into a shaft as it's sword blade bent and segemented into a scythe's. Twirling his familar weapon around him, he rested the weapon on his shoulder, gesturing at the girl with a cocky smirk. She rushed forward, spear low as went for a jab at the man's torso. Qrow whipped Harbinger around him and deflected it, but the girl let go of the weapon and, body still low, went to sweep his legs out from under him. Feeling his feet getting knocked aside, he spun Harbinger in a circle, slamming the blade into a wall and using it to swing his legs back up in a kick. The girl blackflipped again out of range, this time unarmed.
"So, wanna give up now?" Qrow snarked as he picked up the girl's spear, chucked it to his side and split the weapon in two with a swing of Harbinger. The girl shrugged, before racing forwards, drawning a small, thin knife from her sleeve and throwing at Qrow, who was forced to spin Harbinger to deflect the thrown weapon, breaking his sight for a moment as he watched the girl, with a stick with a spear's point, lunged forwards to stab the man. In such close range, Harbinger would be too cumbersome to use so he immediately let go of his weapon and grabbed the spear point with one hand and sucker punching the girl, who too could not dodge at such close range.
Qrow's punch pushed the girl back, enhanced by Aura as it was, and tossed the remains of the spear that almost stabbed him out an opening of the car. Leaning down to pick up Harbinger, Qrow was force to leap back as the girl charged forward, legs flashing as she planted her boot in Qrow's sturnum. While clearly not as impactful as his own, he still found himself knocked back a few steps. The girl grabbed Harbinger and threw it behind her.
Qrow straighted up and cracked his neck. Been too long since a good fist fight.
The Lieutenent went low and Yang went high.
Yang's boot lashed out and caught the chainsaw, aura holding strong and her own steadily growing strength keeping the contraption still. Meanwhile, the Lieutenent raw strength, likely some kind of faunus trait, had let him catch Yang's fist, even if he clearly felt it given the groan he let out immediately. The two locked in this position for a moment.
Then Yang quickly swung up her free leg, pushing the other holding the chainsaw further down, and delivered a devastating axe kick to the faunus' head, knocking the man back several metres while Yang, in seconds of free fall, managed to recover in a messy roll. Landing on her feet, Yang watched as the Lieutenent shook his head quickly, hands reaching towards his chainsaw. Yang made to push forward, but the man lashed out with his own boot, forcing Yang to back off. The two quickly stepped back and readied their weapons for the next change.
This time the terrorist didn't wait to find out, he swung his chainsaw wide, fully convincing Yang to dodge out of the way off, and right into his open palm.
"Gotcha!" He declared victoriously, before slamming Yang's head directly into the solid metal floor.
Yang's aura felt like it just got hit by a truck and the world kept spinning for several of what felt like minutes but couldn't have been. But she quickly felt her semblence pour pure adrenaline into her and Yang quickly focus, noticing the Lieutenent's kneeling position. Her semblence, her soul's raw power, rush through her like a burning sun, and her flaming leg slammed into the terrorist fighter, launching the man off her, and flying into the far wall. Doing a quick flip to her feet, Yang reloaded Ember Celica, and launched herself forward, hair flaming brightly as her enraged red eyes focused on the faceless mask of the Lieutenent.
Streaking through the train car, Yang flew at the Lieutenent and grabbed the stunned man by the head. She then slammed his face into the metal floor with such force he bounced up, with Yang quickly capitalising on this by booting the man back down the carridge. The Lieutenent slammed through two doors worth of carriages, before finally coming to a stop.
Yang smirked viciously, as she felt the rush of pure heat that came with her semblence when it got really hot. While it had dimmed slightly to maintain it longer, she took a deep breath as a weariness returned to her muscles.
"I totally had that." Yang joked, knowing no one could hear her.
Blake nodded at Weiss as the two came up to was clearly the last carriage before the engine and more importantly, controls.
"You found my gift for you?" Weiss asked quickly, with a faint smirk on her face. Blake, normally not one for humour, offered a smile in return with a nod.
"Yes, I appreciate it Weiss. I'll be able to pull off some special moves with this." Blake replied in a warm tone. Weiss was glad that Blake was pleased that she had gone out of her way to specially design something like this. The costs, given the state of the Dust in Vale, were still a minr frustration to deal with, even if Weiss could afford it. And while Blake was a dear friend, her personally Dust was specifically to her own preferences.
Weiss nodded before gesturing at the door controls. "I'll be eager to see you use them." She said with a smile.
Blake quickly swiped through a few panels on the controls, and the doors opened for the two teammates to swiftly slid into, weapons raised in ready positions.
Roman Torchwick swaggered forwards a few steps before resting on his cane, leaning on it as he wave genially at the two girls with an amused smirk.
"Ice Queen, Kittycat, we gotta all stop meeting like this, people will talked..." The Self-Titled Gentleman Thief whispered conspiratorially at the two seventeen year old girls, who both looked at him with unimpressed expressions. "Sheesh, nobody gets a joke theses days, I swear."
Weiss and Blake shared a look, and Weiss quickly launched a bolt of ice Dust at the thief, while Blake lunged forwards, swinging both her weapons at him.
Torchwick, anticipating their attack, quickly moved into a quick spin, firing a shot into Weiss' and causing the two to explode harmlessly. He then quickly deflected the cleaver aside and blocked the sword. He quickly moved to punch Blake right in her face, but Blake suddenly changed into rock as Torchwick's hand was stuck where the head once was. Before he could pull his hand free, a ball of lightning slammed into his chest, launching him back and with a slight smoking on his coat, but landing on his feet.
"Mind the clothes would ya..." Torchwick muttered before firing three shots at Weiss, forcing the heiress to dodge out of the way via her Glyphs, before he rush forwards and thrusted his cane into Blake's stomach. The girl, already in the process of attacking the thief, successfully slashed the man twice on his backs, if in glancing blows, while his own weapon managed to slam three times into her gut, before he uppercutted the faunus. At this point he was forced on the defence, deflecting a bolt from Weiss, dodging to the side for another and having to block a third.
Rushing forward, Blake collapsed her weapon into a pistol, shooting Torchwick. The thief was knocked back as a fireball exploded against him, quickly followed by a lightning bolt, both knocking him on his back. Weiss rushed next to Blake, sharing a quick glance as Blake got to her feet. Weiss continue forward, using her Glyphs to carry her forward as she thrusted at the thief. Torchwick managed to deflect it aside, before the two shared a quick duel of quick thrusts, each scoring solid hits on each's auras.
Then, Weiss fainted a thrust and instead stepped back, deflecting aside Torchwick's cane and back flipping aside, hand touching the ground. A pair of Glyphs next to her racing at Torchwick, quickly spreading around the Thief. Blake sprinted forward, swinging her blades low and clipping Torchwick's leg. The thief swung his cane in retaliation, before being knocked back by a burst of gravity Dust as it hit a clone. Blake then launched herself forward off the glyph she landed on. Once again Torchwick attempted to defend himself, when a bolt of Dust hit him in the back, Blake's blades quickly biting into him as surprised by the the back attack as he was.
Blake then leapt up and off another Glyph, striking true against the criminal, and knocking him to the floor with a pained groan, cane out of reach.
Weiss walked up quickly, Myternaster held ready should Torchwick attempt to continue to resist. Blake standing with her gun pointed at the downed crook.
Torchwick just looked up at Blake with pained smirk.
"Well, as fun as two can be, I don't think it'll work out..." He managed to spit out before Blake stomped up and kicked the man in the face, knocking Torchwick out cold.
Walking up next to her, the two just shared a scowl at the man before running forwards to the where controls had to be. The door opened for them as they entered, a bright screen showing all manner of things the two didn't particular understand. Looking around them, Blake quickly noticed a small level, labelled emergency brakes, that had been been shattered and ruined beyond all use. Weiss and Blake shared a shocked look, before an alarm went off.
A screen on the control screen deplayed a 30 second timer.
"Blake, grab Torchwick!" Weiss shouted at the Faunus, who seemed stunned but quickly went back and grabbed the unconscious thief and dragged him over. Weiss quickly drew her scroll and opened her communications with her teammate's and teacher's scroll. Whether or not Qrow had access to this or not, Weiss did not even remotely cared as she quickly spoke into her scroll.
"The train is about to hit Vale and we can't stop it! Brace yourselves!" Weiss yelled, praying her teammates had heeded her warning. Quickly changing her Dust, Weiss stabbed Myternaster into the floor, letting ice Dust flow around them and create frozen walls of shards around herself, Blake and the unconscious Torchwick.
A few seconds later, there was an impact and the world went white.
Ruby awoke to a orange sky. For some reason, she couldn't hear anything, only faint, low echoes.
Letting her vision focus, Ruby forced herself to sit up, a hand vaguely reaching around her for Crescent Rose.
She realised she was back in Vale. And there was the sound of howls slowly coming into her returning hearing.
The Breach. Ain't that iconic?
Hope you all enjoy.
