Ch.56: Heart to Heart

As Adagio walked down the sidewalk the following Saturday, her mind was a firework. That is to say, that it was full of emotion and thoughts. She would think upon the lives and activities of her and her sisters.

In the great truth, they had done a lot. If there was a sexual activity to do, they would have done it. It was a legacy, in some ways, that Adagio was proud of. The parties they had gone to were wacky and wild. The people they had met. That did not mean it was all good. As Adagio reflected, a frown came upon her face. Part of being a siren had been causing anger to get power. They all saw that, in the end, it was not worth it.

If you had asked Adagio a few years prior, she would have scoffed at the idea of any of the three falling in love. "Hah!" she would have purred. But yet, destiny had made it so. Her and Finn had been on a good path for a while, and she was immensely proud of Sonata and her relationship with someone, much like them, that had seen the error of her ways.

Truly, the day that Aria had broken up with me, it had broken Adagio's heart. She was and is not the type to wear her heart on her sleeve, but she hated it. She had grown to like me and was impressed with my treatment of Sonata.

At first, she had found it so strange that I stood unafraid. Unafraid of them. While she knew people with Autism were all different, all the same she knew that relationships were not our strong suit.

In the end, the breaking up of us made her mad. As noble as Aria's stated reasons were, she knew that Twilight had a fondness for me, but not like Aria. She had seen it in Aria's eyes. The way Aria had somewhat closed herself off. The way she seemed to be alone and relished it.

Then, when Aria had come home a few days prior to tell her about her interaction with the Magnificent Seven, Adagio had a realization of great truth. Stubbornness was her plague. She had it so ingrained in her mind that she needed to let me go that she failed to see reason.

Of course, that did not mean Aria should brush off Twilight. The two would have to talk.

As Adagio pondered, this, she chuckled as she saw me on the street. I was holding my right cheek and was crossing the street to get home.

"Dentist?" she asked me. I nodded.

"Just a cleaning" I explained. "How's Aria?"

Adagio's face fell. "She is...okay. I'm heading home to talk to her about some things."

"Can I ask you something?" I inquired as she went to walk away. "Who wrote the note?"

Adagio's response was quick. "Twilight. Honestly, Aria misses you. The two are going to have to talk. And let's be frank. I know you miss my sister. But I also know that things remain awkward. I think I have a way where you can hear her voice without seeing her."

I was not a fool. At once, I took off my class ring and glasses and handed them to her. She raised an eyebrow.

"Your clothes too" she said firmly, before laughing. "Nah. I am kidding David."

Before I could respond, I found myself trending down her throat. She moaned as she resisted the urge to lick. She knew exactly what Pinkie had meant by my taste. The good ones truly did taste better.

Satisfied after tucking her shirt in, Adagio headed back to the apartment she shared with her sisters. As she did, she let out a small grin at seeing Sunset walk into Twilight's home. It seemed Sunset had some thoughts too.

Indeed, she did. Next story, my children.

Aria would look up as she saw Adagio enter the apartment. She was sitting at the kitchen table, lazily doodling. "Eat Finn again?"

Adagio shook her head. "Nope. David. He just got out of a dental cleaning. I thought I would let him rest for a bit."

Aria's head shot up like a bullet. "Bull. You have another reason."

"You catch on quick, Aria." Adagio responded, sitting next to her. "I wanted him to hear your voice without it being awkward. Just let me say my piece. Aria, do you remember the girl you fell in love with fifteen years ago? When were we living in Manehatten?"

Aria smiled at the memory. "I do. Her name was Lighthouse. Way younger than any of us."

"Anyways" Adagio continued. "I still remember the broken-hearted look you had when she moved. I may be a sly and shrewd siren, but I want nothing more than to see my sisters happy. I know you feel that since Twilight has a... crush on David, that you need to let him go. I will tell you that you are a fool if you do. Twilight is shooting her shot, but she is not serious. To be blunt, she lusts for him. Not love."

Aria paused here and thought over her sister's words. While they could be true, a conversation with Twilight would make things clearer.

"I miss him" Aria finally conceded. "I have never felt anything for anyone like I have him. I admire it. He's around sirens for God's sake, and he never freaks out. On a side note, Adagio, I do worry about him. I guess... maybe I should go see Twilight."

"No matter what" Adagio cautioned, stopping her sister. "Remember what our Father said. Love means understanding one another. If Twilight needs a moment in time with David, allow her that. Got anything you wanna say to David?"

Aria nodded. "David, I miss you. I'm sorry I have avoided you. I... I don't get sappy like this but...I miss us. I gotta go. See you later, Davey."

With that, she was out the door. Adagio smiled to herself in satisfaction.

Sometimes, love truly was for the Eternal.
