Ch 6 The Cold Truth

The group all stared at Rafiki in a worried silence. "I managed to get Kopa breathing again," Rafiki said after what seamed like an eternity. "It was not easy but he is breathing on his own again."

"Oh thank the Kings on that," Jasiri said with a relived sigh.

"However he is not out of de woods just yet," Rafiki informed the group. "Der was a lot of damage done to his chest and neck. Dat could cause him to stop breathing again. I will have to stay here fer a few days to monitor him."

"Of course Rafiki," Simba said. "We'll make you a spot in the cave so that you can be near in case something happens."

"Wait what about Kovu?" Safara asked as she and Asha both looked at Rafiki with worry. "Is he going to be alright?"

"Kovu will be just fine," Rafiki said, causing both Safara and Asha to sigh in relief. "Luckily his injuries were not dat severe. He should be awake soon but he will not be able to move around fer at least two weeks."

"Thank you Rafiki," Asha said, hugging the old monkey. "Thank you for everything you've done for my boys."

"My pleasure," Rafiki said with a smile. "But a must make a trip back to my Tree. I need to gather some supplies."

"I'll give you a ride," Chafu offered.

"Wait Chafu I wanted to talk to you," Vitani said.

"We'll talk after I get back," Chafu said, nuzzling Vitani. "I'll be back soon." With that Chafu and Rafiki were gone.

"Well we'd better check on the boys," Cala said as she started to go into the cave. But to her surprise Simba and Zira were blocking her way. "What..." Cala began.

"Not so fast there Cala," Zira said. "You've still got a lot of explaining to do."

"I agree," Simba said, giving Cala a look. "You didn't answer the question as to why Safara would lie about you helping Dogo attack Kopa and Kovu."

"Oh for King's Sake," Cala said, rolling her brown eyes. "Look Simba I honestly have no idea why Safara would lie about that. Maybe she hates me for some reason. I have no clue why she would though. It could be any reason really. Who the Hell knows? All I know is I had nothing to do with Kopa's attack."

"Fine," Safara said, clearly irritated about the entire situation. "Don't take my word for it. But when Kovu and Kopa wake up they'll confirm my story Cala and when they do I hope you get your ass handed to you for being a lying, sneaky, low down dirty traitor! You should be thrown in the snake pits! That way you can be with your own kind!" By now Safara was in Cala's face with her teeth bared.

"How dare you talk to me like that?!" Cala snarled. "I'll teach you some respect!" Before anyone could react Cala hit Safara hard in her face, sending the tan coated lioness sprawling across the ground.

"Mom!" Jasiri cried out, her eyes wide as she ran to check on her friend. "What the Hell is wrong with you?! She's pregnant!"

"Ugh my head," Safara groaned as she lifted her head to see the concerned faces of her friends looking down at her. "You bitch!" Safara snarled, leaping to her feet to attack Cala. But a stab of pain in her belly prevented her from doing so. "Oh ow that hurts!" Safara groaned as she closed her eyes tight with pain.

"Lets get you inside dear," Zira said gently as she and Jasiri helped Safara inside the cave.

"If that bitch has hurt my cub I sware I'll kill her!" Safara hissed as another pain ripped through her.

"What the Hell is wrong with you Cala?!" Asha demanded, glaring at her friend.

"She got in my face," Cala said. "And she was insulting me. I lost my head. I should have never hit her. I feel awful. If anything happens to her child I'll never forgive myself." Cala lowered her head in shame.

"You had better hope for your sake she doesn't lose her cub," Asha said. "Because if anything happens to my grandchild I'll rip you apart myself!" Without waiting for a response Asha went inside the cave to check on her daughter-in-law and son.

"Damn that Kopa," Cala hissed. "This is all his fault. If he had just died like he was supposed to then none of this would be happening right now."

"So it is true," Kiara said, causing Cala to gasp as she had forgotten the dark brown lioness was there. "You did conspire with Dogo to have my brother killed!"

"How could you do something like that?" Nuka demanded, glaring at Cala.

"He's evil can't you see that?!" Cala cried out before she could stop herself. "He's already proven that over and over again. He's nearly killed Kijana, Kovu and my Jasiri! I won't allow him to hurt my daughter again! That's why I did what I did!"

"Enough Cala!" Simba thundered, causing Cala to jump.

"Simba I..." Cala began.

"I can't believe you would do something like this Mom," Jasiri said, emerging from the cave. Rafiki had returned by now and he was checking on Safara and her cub.

"I did it for you Jasiri!" Cala declared. "Why can't you see that I was just trying to protect you?"

"By killing the lion that I love more than anything?" Jasiri asked, her voice shaking with emotion.

"Jasiri please," Cala began. But she was interrupted by her daughter's devastated cry.

"I'll never forgive you for this Mom!" Jasiri cried out, the tears pouring down her face. "Never! I hate you right now!" With that Jasiri let out a sob and went running back into the cave, Cala began to follow but once again Simba stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

"You're not going back in the cave Cala," the golden King said. "Not after what you've done."

"Simba please," Cala pleaded. "You're a parent. Surly you understand why I did what I did. I did it to protect my child. Like any good parents would do. If it was Nuka or Vitani in that situation you would have done the same thing."

"No Cala a good parent wouldn't try and murder her child's love," Simba said, roughly. "They wouldn't try to kill anyone in fact. And while I understand your distrust of Kopa after everything he's done in the past the fact of the matter remains that Kopa has more that proven himself. And you admitted to allying yourself with our enemy. That cannot go overlooked as it is considered to be an act of treason."

"Simba please," Cala began. "Don't..." But once again she was interrupted.

"You need to leave," Simba declared, glaring at Cala. "Right now. I'm banishing you from the Pride Lands!"

"What?!" Cala cried out, her eyes wide with shock. "You can't..."

"As King I can," Simba said. "And I just did. Now go!" Cala opened her mouth to protest but she quickly closed it as she knew it wouldn't do any good. So the rusty brown lioness ran down the side of Pride Rock, heading for the Outlands.

"Simba I don't think that was necessary," Zira said.

"Well I do," Simba said, gruffly. "And since I'll still King around here its my call. And I won't discuss it anymore!" Without waiting for a response Simba headed back into the cave to check on Safara, Kovu and Kopa with the rest of the group silently following behind him

"This isn't over," Cala thought as she ran. "Not by a long shot. I'll be back and when I do come back Kopa will pay dearly for ruining my life!" With that Cala took off full force for the Outlands.
