A/N: Well, I just went on another hiatus for this story. Sorry about that, folks, my power went off for about a week... and then my internet got shut down for a good 3 weeks. But now, I've finally managed to complete this chapter... And on May the 4th of all days. Nice!

This chapter actually won't cover any content from the Sandman series, and Dream won't be appearing in this at all. Instead, this will be a straightforward adaptation of scenes from the Justice League Dark film, and by extension, the original "Dark Legends 2" story. But don't worry, we will get back to the Sandman plot in the next chapter... whenever that comes out because I do have a bit of announcement to make in the ending Author's Note. But for now, enjoy this chapter, and Happy May the 4th!

Now Playing: "Walk on the Dark Side/Ritchie & Shrouds" from Justice League Dark OST

In the cold and stormy night of Atlanta, the Dark Legends continued their stroll as they walked down the street. As they walked, there was one question on Gibb's mind.

"John, where exactly are we even going?" Gibb asked. John turned to her.

"Ritchie's."

"Okay. Have you talked to him lately?"

"I know he's pissed. You don't have to remind me, luv." Constantine muttered. "It's on my CV, remember?"

"No, John, I'm serious." Gibb retorted as the group turned a corner. "Has he told you…"

When the team stopped walking, they all saw a group of ghosts with black robes surrounding an apartment. Oh God… Constantine gasped as he quickly realized what this meant…

"Oh no… He's dying…"

"John Constantine, purveyor of the Dark Arts and lifeline of last resort…" The lead ghost whispered. "No matter. Your friend's soul will be collected, and there's nothing you can do to alter that…"

"Why don't you go do something useful, like haunt a house?" Constantine asked.

"Who's he talking to?" Batman asked, seemingly not being able to see the ghosts.

"Shrouds." Gibb answered. "They deliver souls to Hell."

Just then the shrouds started circling around Batman.

"They're drawn to you." Nora realized.

"Maybe it's your cologne, Batsey." Constantine joked as the lead shroud began speaking.

"This one has cheated us many times. It is vexing…"

The shroud stared at the Caped Crusader for what felt like an eternity. But then silence was broken when Batman said one simple word:

"Boo."

The shrouds then freaked out as they flew back. Hm, I guess even the deliverers of tortured souls fear the Dark Knight.

"This has been lovely." Constantine remarked, before cupping his hand together and forming a yellow magic orb on them. "But it's time for you lot to fuck off."

"When the time comes, I'll be the one to collect your soul, Constantine…" The lead shroud declared.

"Sorry, the First of the Fallen called dibs."

With that, Constantine tossed the orb at the ghosts and a bright light blinded the whole group… and as it faded, the shrouds were gone.

"I thought I felt a disturbance in the force."

The Dark Legends then turned around to see an older man with a cane open his door. He was rocking grays in his hair and wearing big glasses.

"How you doin', Johnny boy?" Ritchie Simpson asked, before observing the rest of the group. "Gibb… a couple of rugrats and… the Blue Arrow and Batman? What the Hell?"

"Tell you everything inside mate." Constantine said as they walked inside of Ritchie's house. They all stared at the old fellow as he looked… poor… yet at the same time, well.

"Oh, you poor thing." Gibb whispered as she touched Simpson's cheek.

"Yeah, I may have lied the last time we talked about how fast I'm sledding downhill." he admitted. "Sorry about that."

Ritchie then turned to John, placing his hand on his shoulder.

"But it means a lot you're here, John. And hey, you don't have to say it. You're forgiven. Still wondering what Batman's doin' in my living room. And when's he gonna shut up, right?"

Ritchie then chuckled at his joke before turning back to Constantine, noticing that… umm… he was not really rocking an apologetic face.

"What? What's with the face?"

Simpson continued to stare at Constantine… until it hit him.

"You're not here to say you're sorry, are you?" Ritchie asked.

"Of course I am," Constantine replied. "But I was looking to borrow the Keshanti Key as well."

"Unbelievable." Ritchie muttered.

"Sorry, Ritch, I tried to tell him on the way here." Gibb told him.

"Yeah, it ain't your fault, Gibbie." Ritchie sighed. "Just like everything, this is rock star Johnny's fault."

"I was with you when it happened, Ritchie." John protested. "We were side-by-side."

"Yeah, yeah, side-by-side," Simpson grumbled. "But I got the weird magical cancer while you, you got off scot-free, isn't that right?"

"Look, me not making amends has nothing to do with the Key, which, to be honest, you're not gonna need anyway, mate."

"John!" Smith yelled.

Fuming with anger, Ritchie punched John in the face. But then, punching him only caused him to lose balance. Thankfully, he had Batman and Blue Arrow to catch him, cause he probably would've fallen flat like a pancake.

"John, are you good?" Alice asked, concerned.

"Jesus fuck." Constantine grumbled, rubbing his cheek. "Yeah, I've been hit worse."

"You can go screw yourself! I am not giving you shit!" Ritchie yelled.

"Your anger may be understandable, but you have to reconsider." Batman spoke up. "While you're in your mid-life crisis, there are also innocent lives currently at stake."

"Yeah, so quit being a Scrooge." Nora added.

Ritchie thought about what they had said for a good 10 seconds. But then, he walked up towards a box, opened it and took out what looked like a small disk with a hole in it.

"Well, doctors say an upbeat attitude can help." Ritchie said, walking back to Batman. "So what I'll focus on today is that I met Batman."

He then gave Batman the Key.

"Force of good! It was also nice seeing you, Gibb. Now if you excuse me…"

With that, Simpson then walked upstairs and the Dark Legends then walked out of the house.

"Well, that was… something." Blue Arrow muttered.

"You wanna know something guys?" Trixie asked. "And I don't know if it's just me, but this whole… epidemic reminds me a whole lot of the infamous Bates Motel incident from the 60s."

"Trix, that's a separate thing altogether." Alice said.

"Yeah, this is clearly the work of something supernatural, whereas Bates was just a mama's boy who was cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs." Constantine added.

"Since when did you eat Cocoa Puffs?" Espinoza asked.

"Have you ever heard of an expression, Espinoza?" Constantine retorted, to which Trixie just scoffed.

"Anyways, where to now?" Alice asked.

"Now, we visit Quentin." William injected. "Dad said he was also affected by the nightmares."

Alrighty then. Thanks for the tip, Arrow Jr." Constantine said, and Blue Arrow just rolled his eyes.

With that, the rest of the Dark Legends grabbed onto Constantine's back as he clapped his hands together and began chanting.

"Sume Nome, Altar A La Police Department En La Star City!"

And then they vanished from Georgia.

Star City Police Department

It had been a good five minutes since Constantine, Batman, and the others showed up and they had just given Quentin Lance the rundown. Behind the group were a bunch of cops.

"How does this work?" Quentin asked.

"It's basically a magical shortcut." John explained. "It lets me access different planes of existence without 20-odd hours of incantations. Or in your case: I place the Key on top of your head and poke around your memories to see where the madness began. That is, if you're up for it, mate."

"Hey. You saved my daughter's soul." Lance said, placing his hand on Constantine's shoulder. "Can't really think of a better way to repay you."

Constantine grinned and nodded after he said that. With that, Quentin relaxed onto his chair as Constantine put the Key on top of his head. And it then created a bright purple portal to another dimension.

"Right, Gibb, give me a psychic shout if his body comes under attack." Constantine ordered her. "Wouldn't do to be trapped inside, now."

"Wouldn't do to go in alone, and since I'm right here…" Gibb retorted.

"Nope, too dangerous. You may have gotten better with your magic skills over the years, but with this, you're out of practice, luv." Constantine rejected.

"Bullshit! I've been through stuff like this for most of my life, you know this." Gibb reminded him. "Look, you wanted me along, well, here I am. I'm not waiting in the wings. So let's just get this over with, okay?"

Smith then offered John her hand, which made him stare at her for a good 5 seconds… but then he sighed in defeat, seeing no point in arguing about that.

"Fine. Batsey, brats, watch over Lance for us."

The rest of the Dark Legends nodded, even if the teens rolled their eyes at him calling them 'brats'.

With that, Constantine and Gibb joined hands and then in a flash of light, they vanished from the room, leaving Alice, Batman, Nora, William, and Trixie alone with the cops.

Constantine and Gibb found themselves floating in an empty void with what appeared to be balls of light surrounding them. But there was something about being in this place that really… unsettled Gibb… it almost reminded her of… of…

"Gibb?"

Smith then turned to see Constantine staring at her.

"You okay?" Constantine asked.

"I'm fine." Gibb replied, as the two started to look around the realm. "It's just…"

"What, luv?"

"I don't really like this place. Being here brings back some… uncomfortable memories in a… certain room."

"Ah, come on, it's not that bad." Constantine said.

"Yeah, if you say so. Still don't get how you can stand it though." Gibb muttered.

"Well, if you need a refresher, I was actually in the bloody room." Constantine reminded her. Gibb rolled her eyes as they started searching for different memories, each of them seeing a different part of Lance's life.

One moment they saw was one of him taking his daughter Sara to work with him… and also handcuffing her on the table.

"Name?" An officer asked.

"Lance. Sara Lance." Sara said sarcastically, before turning to her father. "This is ridiculous."

"C'mon, I thought it was 'Take Your Daughter To Work Day'" Quentin chuckled.

"Yeah, if I was in grade school." the young Lance said.

"'Daddy, I'm doing a paper on the criminal justice system, I wanna see what's on the inside.'" Lance said, repeating what his daughter supposedly said earlier.

"Well, I didn't mean inside a jail cell." Sara retorted.

"Too bad, cause that's the next stop in our little tour."

"I think you're enjoying this a little too much."

"Honey, it's a dream of every father to keep their daughter locked up until they're 30, maybe even 40." Quentin joked, which just made Sara roll her eyes in amusement.

Constantine watched this memory with what looked like a face of guilt, remembering Sara Lance. 7 years ago, her sister, Laurel, brought her back through the Lazarus Pit after she was killed by a bloodlust Thea Queen the prior year. Only problem was, when she was brought back, she had no soul, thus making her a ferocious and wild animal of a human being. Because of that, Oliver Queen called John to help restore Lance's soul, which was right after he first met Gibb and assisted her with defeating Freddy Krueger, and through an exorcism, he was able to do so.

Two years later, Sara and the Legends of Tomorrow were called by Constantine and Andy Barclay to help them with the demon known as Mallus, who was in possession of Nora Darhk, as a way of Sara repaying his debt for saving her soul. But after that mission… Lance was killed once again alongside the rest of Legends by a revived Damien Darhk… Almost as if the Hell of bringing back her soul was all for nothing.

Constantine shook his head, as he needed to shrug that thought off for now and focus.

Another memory Constantine and Gibb found was Lance, in the year 2012, arresting Oliver Queen under the suspicion that he was the vigilante known at the time as the Hood.

"This is a mistake." Oliver told Quentin in the interrogation room.

"I'll be asking you a few questions. Standard stuff for the report." Quentin started. "Have you ever been arrested before?"

Oliver was about to answer that question but then Lance stopped him.

"That's okay. I know the answer to that one. Plenty of times."

"Like I said: this is a mistake." Queen repeated.

"As far as I could tell the only mistake I made was not shooting you down at the docks when I had the chance." Lance retorted.

"I am not who you think I am."

"Oh no, you're exactly who I think you are." Quentin sneered. "You're a dangerous menace who doesn't care about who he hurts, except now you're doing it with bows and arrows instead of trust funds and yachts."

"Detective, you hate me. I get it." Oliver said. "But that doesn't make me a vigilante."

"No. The security camera footage of you from the Unidec auction with a green hood does that pretty well."

"And as I said again, I ran into the stairwell once I heard the shooting. I saw a duffel that I thought maybe belonged to the shooter, I grabbed it, looked inside and saw… a hood."

"And what, you took it home with ya? Cause we can't find it." Lance continued. "And what about harassing Adam Hunt that just happened to take place right across the street from your little home coming back?"

"Those were coincidences." Oliver retorted.

"No. When they pile up like that… it becomes evidence."

Constantine then noticed another memory which showed Quentin playing a Sudoku puzzle.

"This is it." Constantine announced, causing Gibb to move over to his side. "This was the morning of his madness."

"What do you think will set him off?" Smith asked.

"My guess is the Sudoku." Constantine replied. "He's got two 9's in the same row."

"John." Gibb said, placing her hand on John's shoulder.

The two then saw a black shadow form and loom over Lance. They instantly noticed that it had some… golden ring of sorts on its finger.

The shadow then slowly reached for Quentin's head… then finally grabbed it, causing him to scream and turned his eyes pure black for 3 seconds.

"Quentin!"

Just then, Laurel Lance from Earth-2 opened up the door and entered the apartment, running to Quentin's side.

"I just heard you scream. Is everything alright?" Laurel asked with concern. Lance stared at her for a good 10 seconds with a shocked expression on his face, which of course made her very confused.

"Um, Quentin?"

"You… fucking hideous demon!" Quentin yelled, grabbing his gun and pointing it at Laurel.

"There it is." Constantine said, pointing to the ring. He then closed his eyes and clapped his hands together.

"Replicare Anulum…"

Constantine then opened his hands up and a hologram-like replica of the ring was created. John then grabbed the ring and placed it in his pocket.

"Alright, now let's get the fuck out." Gibb muttered.

Constantine nodded and took Smith's hand, before the two floated their way to the black hole which was the exit from Lance's head and back to the outside world.

Back from the outside, as the rest of the Dark Legends patiently waited for Constantine and Gibb to get back, William suddenly heard a faint noise.

"You guys hear that?" Blue Arrow asked. Alice, Batman, Nora, and Trixie started to pick up on what Clayton was hearing. It sounded like… moaning. Pause.

"Yeah." Alice nodded. "What is that?"

"Sounds very disturbing to me." Nora commented.

"Whatever it is, keep your guard up." Batman ordered.

The kids nodded in agreement and they all readied their weapons. Alice cocked her pistol as well as held onto her pocket knife, Batman held onto one of his batarangs and his grappling hook, Blue Arrow readied his bows and, well, arrows, Trixie held onto her demon dagger, and Nora, being the only one without anything to particularly shoot with, balled her hands up.

The disturbing sound then got even louder… and louder… and louder…

And then banging was heard on the door while the sound continued… and then more banging… and more banging…

Until the door busted open and the source of the sound was finally revealed:

A herd of zombies!

"Great, just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, now we gotta fight the Walking Dead." Trixie muttered.

Suddenly, Constantine and Gibb literally jumped out of Quentin's head, much to the surprise of the rest of the Dark Legends!

"Really glad you're done in there, because some fucking corpses got up from morgue and walked around!" Alice told them. The two then turned around to see the zombies slowly coming at the group.

"Ah, bloody Hell!" Constantine groaned.

Alice started shooting at the zombies with her pistol, while also occasionally stabbing some of them from behind with her knife. But then, one of the zombies knocked Pierce down to the floor, causing her to lose her weapons.

And just when it looked like two of the zombies were about to attack Alice, Trixie got in front of her and sliced off one zombies' head with her demon dagger and the other one suddenly exploded!

Pierce and Espinoza then turned to see that Batman was the one who made the other zombie explode using one of his explosive batarangs. They both nodded at the Dark Knight, and then Alice grabbed her weapons off the ground and continued to fight more of the zombies.

Alice then noticed Quentin defending himself against the zombies, shooting them with his gun. But then one zombie knocked his gun out of hands, while another one crushed it with its feet while walking, leaving him defenseless. Pierce then ran up towards the zombie and knocked it out with a kick, saving Lance.

"Here, Mr. Lance." Alice said, giving him her pistol.

"Thanks, kid." Quentin said.

Alice nodded, and then reached for her pocket and grabbed a wooden stake, one given to her last year by her friends back in Sunnydale. With that, she ran off to fight more zombies.

Constantine and Gibb were side-by-side from each other, with Constantine continuously blasting down multiple zombies with his fireballs and Smith shooting them down with her sniper rifle. But Constantine started to become a bit tired and then one zombie started rushing at him.

This was not unnoticed by Gibb as she then quickly put her rifle down, and grabbed her right wrist when suddenly, a huge spark of lightning formed in her hand. Smith then rushed at the zombie and then stabbed it through its chest with her sparking hand!

"Huh, I guess it was the time for a bloody anime move." Constantine commented.

"Shut up." Gibb grumbled, taking her hand out of the chest and picking her rifle back up to continue shooting the zombies.

Nora used her telekinesis to toss around some of the zombies like ragdolls, as well as bumping their heads together. She even pulled one of them towards herself and landed a powerful punch at its face, causing it to explode with a shower of blood!

But then, one zombie came from behind Darhk and tightly grabbed her by the throat, choking her to near death. Nora started gasping for air and struggled to get free from the zombie, and then for a very brief moment… her eyes started to flicker into a blood red color and black veins started to slowly spider web across her face… almost as if she was about to-

BOOM!

The zombie then suddenly exploded, causing Nora to break free and her eyes to turn back to their normal color. Nora started to cough and then looked up to see that her savior was William, having used an explosive arrow on the zombie.

"Nor, you okay?" Clayton asked.

"I'm fine, thanks." Darhk replied.

"Good, because I think I have an idea." Blue Arrow informed. "Can you see if you could get these guys all in a line?"

Nora turned to the zombies with a determined look on her face.

"Not sure if it'll work, but goddammit, I'm gonna try."

Blue Arrow nodded, before he got behind Nora and started shooting at zombies that rushed toward him.

Darhk then closed her eyes and raised both of her hands towards the herd, and then, using her telekinesis, slowly got all of them standing next to each other in a line. But after completing the line, Nora then gave out.

"Will, now!" Nora shouted. Blue Arrow then shot three arrows at three of the zombies, and with that…

BOOM!

All the zombies exploded, leaving a massive mess all over the room.

"Damn, shit's really hit the fan." Trixie commented, covering her nose.

"You had to go there, didn't you?" Alice muttered.

Suddenly, they all heard glass breaking, and they turned around to see that the Green Arrow had entered the precinct. They then stare at him for a good 5 seconds.

"Um… What did I miss?" Green Arrow asked.

"Basically everything, Dad." Blue Arrow replied.

Later, the group met up back in the middle.

"Gotta say, zombies might be the most boring enemies that we have ever faced." Gibb muttered.

"You're not wrong there. At least Vampires and Deadites still retain personality." Trixie agreed.

"But what exactly happened to cause this?" Batman asked.

"I think somebody knows that we're on their trail, and they want us to stay away." Alice guessed.

"It could be the same person who created that tornado yesterday." Nora added.

"Either way, we need to show Ritchie this." Constantine informed, showing the group the replica of the ring he and Gibb saw in Lance's head.

"If anybody knows what this is, it would be him."

The Dark Legends stared at John for 3 seconds with curious looks on their faces, before nodding. But before they left, William walked up to Oliver.

"Well, Dad, you may have been late to the party, but I appreciate you wanting to help us out."

"Anytime, son." Oliver said. "You know, I was going to call you back in, because there was this new assassin in town calling himself Onomatopoeia. But then I figured it'd be best to just let you continue having fun with your buddies, so I just called in Thea and Roy instead to take care of the problem."

"Well, do tell Aunt Thea and Uncle Roy I said hi." William said. Oliver then nodded.

With that, the Dark Legends left the department and were on their way back to Georgia, leaving Queen and Lance behind to clean up the mess…

A/N: Alright, so... I'm going to take another break from this story. Yes, yes, I know, I've taken enough breaks already, but hear me out: In about a week or so, I'm going to release a new one shot story set in this series titled: "Dark Legends: Enter Buffy". Yes, you've read that right, Buffy, as in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I've just started watching the show for the first time a few months back and I am loving it so far! And now, I've decided that I was going to incorporate the show into this series!

So in that one shot, which will take place before this story, Buffy and the Scoobies will meet up with the likes of Andy Barclay, Alice Pierce, and others, and they will play very major roles in this series going forward. For the timeline, right now Buffy Season 6 is currently taking place as this story is happening, and the one shot will be right after Buffy Season 3. Yeah, I know, the show is very old because it was made in the late 90s and early 2000s, but just roll with it, okay? Plus, I just think it's funny to have the show take place exactly 20 years after it's run here.

Oh, and I want to give a big shout out to Aragorn II Elessar for one, inspiring me to watch the show thanks to his amazing "Heroes, Vampires, and Slayers" story, which if you have not read that story, please go do so as well as read the rest of his awesome "Heroes" series, and two, helping me out with incorporating Buffy into this series. It's been fun.

So yeah, look forward to that one shot soon, and no worries, this break definitely won't be as long as the last two, because after that's done, I will immediately get back to this story. So with that said, see you next time, and May the 4th be with you!
