Greetings and May the Fourth be with you, sorry it's been so long but life's a bitc*. On the bright side I finally saw the last season of the clone wars/bad batch and I can say it won't have much of an affect on the story, until later on. Also the spear has changed to a four foot shaft with a one foot fixed blade (Djin's but longer) and the bottom foot contains a detachable stun prod. It also separates in the middle so it can be concealed, used in a narrower space, or dual wielded. There is also a time skip here with exposition as necessary. Now then I don't own Star Wars or various other references I might make so on with the story
Thoughts
Mando'a
'Shab I hate this planet. I mean I understand why I keep coming here and thank the Ka'ra I enjoy dry heat, but this kriffing sand gets everywhere.'
These were the thoughts going through my head as I trekked from my ship into the city of Mos Espa on Tatooine. Almost eight years had passed since I was sent from Mandalore, and it was about two years ago that I struck out on my own as a bounty hunter/mercenary. The Mandalorian civil war began about a year or so after I left, when my grandfather Tor managed to trick a Jedi task force into attacking some of the Protectors of Concord Dawn on Galidraan.
The resulting attack left Jango as the only survivor while the other Protectors including their leader, and Jango's adoptive father, Jaster Mereel, were killed by the Jedi. This sent the True Mandalorians into a spiral and after a few more strategic attacks on both the True and New Mandalorians, one of which resulted in the death of Duke Adonai the war began in earnest.
The only reason Death Watch was unable to secure victory was because Tor Vizsla and the Darksaber went missing. Leaving Death Watch leaderless and further fracturing the clans. Suffice it to say the war was not pretty, Jango was at Galidraan with Jaster during the attack so he left me in a safe house to train beforehand; it took him six months to return for me after which we left the war behind.
During this time he trained me as a warrior and hunter, while allowing me to explore and experiment with my force abilities. As a result my reflexes, strength, speed and senses all grew far past what would be considered normal for a Mandalorian child; and at thirteen I attempted my Verd'goten here on Tatooine. Of course that turned into a Kriffing disaster.
I was wearing only the most basic of armor, supplies, and was armed only with my spear and a small knife for skinning and eating. I had originally gone into the canyons near the dune sea to hunt a sand bat, massif, or Anooba, but after three days I had yet to find anything substantial. However on the fourth day while I was searching for signs along a narrow ledge above the canyon floor I felt a rumble.
I immediately stood still and waited for it to stop, and once it did I looked over the side and saw what I thought would be my death. It was the head and neck of a young Greater Krayt Dragon that had come out of a cave below me, and it was searching for something. After a couple of seconds I realized that I was trapped, if I moved it would notice me and if I stayed it would find me.
Jango was watching from afar but he was at least five minutes out and I would be dead long before then, so I came up with a reckless and idiotic do or die plan. I gripped my spear and shouted a war cry and as it turned to look up at me, I jumped down at it and drove the first four feet of my spear into its eye, killing it instantly.
I was thrown from its head in the death throws and just laid there until Jango arrived, unable to comprehend what I had just done until Jango's hand touched my shoulder, then all of the emotion came out and I cried out in relief and victory. After that we butchered the dragon taking its skull, teeth, claws, some bones, a lot of meat, and the pearls we found, with us to a large safe house Jango had in another part of the canyons. We ate what meat we could in a celebration feast then dried the rest into something similar to gihaal and got to work on my armor.
Jango had managed to acquire enough beskar to create a set of armor for me (most being sent from the mines my clan owned and the rest he had in storage); and while we were both decent enough smiths to create some standard designs I would need to take it to a Goran if I wanted a better quality armor with high tech additions. Luckily there was one on Nar Shaddaa and once we arrived after some haggling they began their work.
Three days later my armor was done and I got to try it on. It ended up being a combination of the heavy Mandalorian armor and the standard armor. The body, shoulders and legs (though with the added built-in adjustable holsters) were heavy armor, while the gauntlets and helmet (with detachable rangefinder/comm antenna) were the standard.
But it was my gauntlets and helmet were where the Goran did most of their work. The right had a grapple cable, comm, dart launcher, and remote built in. While the left had a flamethrower, repulsor, and shield projector. Both gauntlets had hold out blasters built into them as well. My helmet also had comms in addition to a HUD, scanner, infrared, noise canceling (internal and external), and the ability to be pressurized and connected to an air supply; so with my Evo suit kute I could survive for a limited time in space.
In addition to my base armor I made a couple of cloaks out of the Krayt Dragon hide, and colored both after my armor was complete. One of the cloaks was black with maroon highlights, and had my personal sigil upon it and my right pauldron, the color of which was scarlet and silver (a scarlet greater Krayt eating its own tail surrounding the head of a silver spear pointed up). The other cloak along with the rest of my armor was black with blue highlights and included my clan symbol (the symbol on Pre Vizsla's Helmet) in blue on the back and on my helmet.
I also had a couple of suits of leather armor made from the hide and bone, in case I needed something a bit more subtle than my standard. After I bought a customized jet pack with an oxygen tank and a couple of extra Evo suits I began to utilize it. Over the next several years Jango and I became a formidable hunting duo, and even after I got my own ship (a large Kom'rk class fighter/transport with modified interior and weapons called the Krayt's Claw) we often teamed up.
That brings us to today, my birthday in fact, and I'm on my way to meet up with two of the few people I can actually tolerate on this planet. It's only as I open the door to the shop where they work that I remember what my eighteenth birthday means for my life and just who I am supposed to meet today.
As such lo and behold once the door is open I come face to helmet with none other than Jedi master Qui-gon Jinn, seemingly leaving to make a call, and as I see him only one thought is going through my head 'Shab, I'm going to have to deal with those damn monks now'.
