It had been years since Tomohito Sugino's death at the hands of Yoshida and his death at the hands of Nagisa. Nagisa had been fighting hard for the Rebellion as a X-Wing Pilot and leader of several Rebel fighter wings. Karma was put in charge of a Infantry company, Yukiko and Manami were added to Yuma's Ship's Medical Staff. Kayano joined Nagisa's squad. Nagisa was told that only Terasaka's group were the most loyal to the empire as the others were forced into servitude. Nagisa pulled out a knife and stabbed Terasaka's head on a photo that he kept on a wall of enemies.

"Nagisa, we're needed." Said Kayano as she sported her Rebel alliance pilot outfit. Nagisa nodded his head and followed her to the bridge of the Nebulon B-Frigate, The Hope's defender, Yuma Isogai's command ship. Arriving on the bridge, Nagisa said, "Commander Shiota reporting." Yuma smiled and said, "At ease Nagisa." Yuma walked down with a limp and Cybernetic leg. Nagisa winced as he remembered what happened. After the battle of Yavin, Terasaka and his Star Destroyer were tasked with hunting Yuma's Fleet. When Yuma was on leave from his ship with Nagisa, Karma, Hiroto, and Kotaro, they were attacked by Stormtoopers and Takuya Muramatsu, another loyal Imperial Traitor.

But Muramatsu was also wielding a Lightsaber, taken from a fallen Jedi all those years ago. Yuma dodged swings from Muramatsu until he got his leg cut off from him. Nagisa pulled Yuma back and blasted into Muramatsu's legs, where he fell onto his own weapon. Yuma was then given a Cybernetic leg. Back on the bridge, Yuma said, "We got word that the Empire is on its way to Hoth. High Command's there and we need to evacuate them." Nagisa and Kayano nodded their heads and Nagisa said, "Got it Yuma, we'll get it done." Yuma smiled and nodded his head.

Later, Nagisa stood on a snowy hill of Hoth looking up at Star Destroyers as Kayano walked up to him and said, "come on Nagisa, we have to get ready to escort the transport ships." Nagisa nodded his head as he contacted Karma. Karma responded and said, "This is going to be a hell of a battle." Nagisa nodded his head and said, "Yeah, take care man, don't die." Karma chuckled and said, "I won't man, see you at the rendezvous point." Nagisa nodded his head as he got into his X-Wing and Kayano got into hers. Soon they took off with the GR-75 transport ship towards a Star Destroyer.

"In case the Ion array doesn't stop them, be prepared for a fight, Kayano." Nagisa said as he had his Astromech, G1-B3, prepare the weapon systems when several Ion blasts struck the Star Destroyer, shutting down their systems. Nagisa smiled as he, Kayano, and the Transport ship jumped to hyperspace, away from the battle and to the rest of the fleet. Back on Hoth, Karma and his company, the 101st mobile Infantry, was stationed in the front lines as they came under fire from Snowtroopers and AT-ATs. Karma even saw Kirara Hazama, Terasaka's new Stormtrooper commander, leading the attack. Pulling out a Vibroblade, he charged at her and the two fought hard until he got her in her stomach. Hazama was stunned and fell to her knees when Karma shot her in the chest, killing her. Suddenly, the call to fall back was given and Karma orders his men to get onto the transports when he was hit in the back of the leg by a snow trooper. He stood his ground and took down several Stormtroopers until an AT-ST walked up to him and shot him, killing him on the spot.

Nagisa and Kayano rejoined Yuma's ship as the fleet moved through the system they were in and attached to it. Getting to the bridge, Nagisa saw Yuma being informed something by a Rebel General. Ending the transmission, Yuma saw Nagisa and said, "Oh Nagisa, you're back." Nagisa walked up to him and said, "What happened?" Yuma sighed and said, "They just told me that… the 101st Mobile Infantry was decimated on Hoth… no survivors." Nagisa was devastated, and he said, "Karma…" Yuma said that it was reported that an AT-ST killed him. Nagisa fell to his knees, upset that his friend was gone. That was when Hiroto came in and said, "I just heard… is it true?" Yuma nodded his head.

"Karrablast, first Sugino, now Karma. How many more of our friends must die?" Hiroto asked as he sat down. But Nagisa looked up and said, "No more… no more will die." Meanwhile, Manami was crying hard as Yukiko and Kayano held her closely and Yukiko's son, Tomohito Kanzaki, walked up to his aunt slowly and hugged her leg. Manami picked up Yukiko's son and held him close. Kayano then said, "We'll avenge him and Tomohito by winning this war." Manami smiled as Yukiko agreed with Kayano. Soon a man walked in and asked, "is there a Dr. Takebayashi here?" Kotaro walked over to him and said, "I'm Dr. Takebayashi, what's your name?" and when the man told them his name, the people from earth were all shocked.

"Another person from earth?" Yuma asked in shock when Kotaro told him and the others who were still there. Kotaro nodded his head and said, "Yes, he said his name was John Bertrand and he was from earth, taken like we were and forced into Serving the Galactic Empire. It was after the battle of Yavin that he defected and joined the Rebellion. When he heard of our recent losses, he came as quickly as he could and wanted to join our units." Yuma put a hand on his chin and said, "We are down a man since Karma's become one with the force… ok, bring him in."

Kotaro nodded his head and had the man walk in. The man had a A280 blaster rifle and was dressed like a Rebel Pathfinder. He saluted them and said, "John Bertrand, 99th Pathfinders reporting for duty sirs!" Yuma walked over to him and said, "That's an American name." John nodded his head and said, "Yes sir, I heard that this fleet had officers from earth so I requested a transfer here." Yuma nodded his head and shook John's hand before saying, "Welcome to the Hope's Defender. My name is Yuma Isogai." John smiled and said, "I've heard a lot about you Commander Isogai, it's a real honor." Yuma introduced the rest of the humans from earth to John. John bowed to them and said, "It is a great honor. Huh… isn't there a mobile Infantry under your command?" that made the bridge silent. John looked around and said, "Was it something I said?"

"The mobile Infantry under my command… was decimated at the battle of Hoth." Yuma said to John. He was shocked, but composed himself quickly and said, "Then let us make sure their sacrifice wasn't in vain." Nagisa was speechless at how fast John composed himself. Later, John was unpacking his things when he heard a knocking on the door to his quarters.

"Enter." John said. The door slid open and Nagisa walked in. John stood at attention and said, "Commander Shiota." Nagisa had the door closed and locked it. John was confused until Nagisa said, "So wanna tell me why you were quick to get things done?" John noticed that Nagisa was angry and he said, "I hope I didn't offend you in any way, commander." Nagisa clenched his fist and said, "Oh, you did offend me, you made it seem like you didn't care that the 101st died. MY FRIEND WAS AT HOTH COMMANDING THEM!" Nagisa then punched John in his face. John slammed into the wall and he was getting up before Nagisa slammed him back against the wall. Nagisa then shouted, "HOW COULD YOU NOT SHOW ANY COMPASSION?!" John glared at him and said, "I do have compassion, I feel bad for you all but we have a bigger goal! Their sacrifice gave time for command to get away!"

"OH YEAH?! I BET YOU NEVER LOST SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU BEFORE!" Shouted Nagisa. John punched Nagisa back and looked at the ground before saying, "You… you…. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SAY THAT TO ME YOU FUCKING BASTARD!" Nagisa then saw that John was tearing up. John then shouted, "YOU THINK YOUR GROUP WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO LOST FRIENDS?! PEOPLE YOU CARED ABOUT?! NO! NO YOU AREN'T THE ONLY ONES! I LOST PEOPLE TOO!" Afterwards, John pulled out a photo and slammed it down. Looking at it, Nagisa saw John and four other people on it.

"Jon Wilson, Danielle Sterner, Morgan Peterson, Frederick Brown. Those are the other four people in that photo." John said as he looked down at the ground. Nagisa looked concerned at John as he went on. John then said, "We were all taken as a group from Earth. We were sent to the Imperial Academy on Ryloth to get training. We had live rounds and killed Twi'leks. All five of us didn't want to do it. But we had no choice. Soon the four of them had enough and all ran, I wanted to go but I couldn't because I was scared."

John then said, "Soon they got caught and lined up. All the academy cadets were lined up and I was in front where I could see their faces. But they couldn't see mine. Soon Stormtroopers marched in, aimed and fired. All four were killed… I watched my friends die at the hands of the Empire. I got so angry I charged forward, took a gun and began blasting every fucking Imp I could see. Soon others joined me and we took down the Academy's staff and escaped to join the rebellion after I gathered all my friends' bodies. I was taken toYavin 4 and asked that my friends be put in coffins for taking home."

Nagisa sighed and said, "I see… I'm sorry." John looked at him and said, "You better be, I lost my friends… and my girlfriend." Nagisa gasped as John pointed to one girl. He said that it was Danielle Sterner, and that she was his girlfriend. John then said, "She tried to get me to go with them. But I told them that running will result in death, and I was right. They died and I would have been with them if I chose to run with them. So you… you have no right to say I don't know lose! I LOST PEOPLE TOO!" John then fell to his knees crying, leaving Nagisa stunned and feeling stupid.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions when we never knew your back story." Nagisa said as he knelt in front of John and placed a hand on his shoulder. John looked at him as he shed tears more and said, "You're damn right you shouldn't have jumped to conclusions." Nagisa understood John's anger and let John be before seeing Kayano on their bed. Nagisa sat on the bed and Kayano noticed that he was upset. Rubbing his shoulders, Kayano said, "You and John got into it huh?" Nagisa nodded his head and told her what happened.

"Oh my, so he lost people too and you made the assumption he didn't due to how fast he brushed Karma's death aside." Kayano said as she got Nagisa's flight vest off him. Nagisa nodded his head and said, "Yeah… he lost his friends… and his girlfriend too." Kayano sighed and hugged him closely and rubbed his chest. Nagisa held her close to him and rubbed her side as he sighed and felt really bad for what he did to John. The next morning, John was training in a cordoned off area of the cargo hold when Nagisa approached him.

"Hey." John said to Nagisa, who replied, "Hey… look man, I'm sorry, honest to god." John lowered his blaster, looked at Nagisa out of the corner of his eye and said, "Yukiko told me what happened after you joined the Rebellion, how your best friend was killed in his X-wing by a traitor. How you and Karma were like brothers. We've all lost people to the Empire. I understand the pain you all felt, you especially." Nagisa nodded his head and said, "But still, I shouldn't have punched you and pinned you to the wall without hearing your story first, it was wrong of me to do that. Yuma knows and suggested I apologize, which is what I'm doing. I'm sorry for what I did."

"Sighs, it's ok Nagisa. I probably would have done the same thing in your shoes. Wanna train with me?" John said as he smiled at Nagisa, who smiled back and said, "Sure." The two then went on to begin training to get better as a team. Meanwhile, Terasaka walked into a cell and said to the occupant, "Nagisa has abandoned you my old friend, so has the rebellion." The Occupant looked at him and said, "Go to hell Terasaka, I will never rejoin the Empire who took us from our home." Terasaka growled and said, "Fine, stay in here and rot for all I care, Karma." He then left the cell and walked back to the bridge, staring at the second Death Star as it was being built.
