CHAPTER 7: BEGINNING OF THE SPORTS FESTIVAL
Ken: Hey there guys! Ready to read the next chapter of 'Two Symbols'?! I sure am! *Says with a large toothy grin*
Izuku: Just make sure that when you're reading you turn the lights on and don't stay to close to the computer. *Says with a smile* It's not good for your eyes.
Uraraka: Also make sure to read, review and like the story. *Smiles as brightly as Izuku* That'd mean a lot to the author.

Chapter 7: Beginning Of The Sports Festival
"Our investigators have been trying everything they can to find out and learn more of this so called League of Villains." Detective Tsukauchi Naomasa says looking into the files he was holding. "We've made some progress but we're still yet to find anything on this Shigaraki character. We've searched through our records for men in their twenties who were born with some kind of disintegration quirk but have found nothing. The same can be said about the warp gate villain Kurogiri." He then looks up from the files and looks at the group of people in front of him. He was standing in front of some of the UA staff members. These included Midnight, Snipe, Vlad King and the country's number one hero, All Might. Principal Nezu was also in attendance.
"So they're not citizens or using any aliases. Either way it's hard to tell." Tsukauchi finishes glancing at each of the pro heroes in the room. Vlad King was the first to speak. "So what you're really saying is that we have no intel on them huh."
"We still have to track them down." Snipe says sharply. "I shot their ring leader but once he heals up, he's probably gonna try something again."
"He did seem like the type." Toshinori says while deep in thought, something Nezu noticed. "Is something on your mind All Might?" The principal asks the man.
"I'm just thinking about the attack." The blonde man answers. "The attack, to me, was too bold. No sane person would ever attempt that. The leader, Shigaraki, kept talking about the reasons he was there and kept bragging about the Nomu's quirks but he never said a word about his own power." He says thinking back to when he confronted the villains. "When things weren't going his way, it was easy to tell he was upset. He looked like he was gonna throw a tantrum." He then places a hand on his chin and sighs. "Well, I guess bragging about the Nomu's quirks was a quick way to draw me into a fight."
"That may be true but strategically, it was rather foolish to reveal the creature's quirks like that upfront instead of keeping it a secret." Nezu says and everyone in the room nodded their heads in agreement. The villain would have hand the upper hand if he had kept quiet about the Nomu's quirks.
All Might decides to continue speaking. "Shigaraki made wild and immature claims but did so with a straight face. He also spoke about Nomu like it was some kind of pet. He seemed like the type to have never been told no before like everything would go his way no matter what. He has the personality of a spoiled brat. A man-child." Toshinori finishes.
"A child with a lot of power though." Vlad King says. "Well, it's possible he never got the quirk counseling students received in elementary school." Midnight adds her own two cents. "Maybe so, but in the end it doesn't matter." Snipe says. Whether Shigaraki was a man-child or not didn't matter. He was a villain and needed to be found and apprehended before he could do something worse.
Tsukauchi then looks back at the files he was holding. "A total of seventy-two villains were arrested after the whole attack. They were all small time thugs who usually lurked around in back alleys." He then faces the heroes. "What worries me is that this man-child was able to get them to follow his crazy plan. They viewed him as a real leader. Criminals of nowadays are starting to feel more pressured due to there being more heroes, it's surprising how they were quick to follow such a simple minded villainy."
"There are plenty of people out there looking for a cause to get behind." Snipe says. "The questions is. What can we do to stop them?" Midnight asks and the room goes silent for a few seconds, no one knowing how to answer that.
"Well, it is thanks to you heroes that we have time to investigate this case. We'll expand our investigation and make sure to find the perpetuators of this attack." Tsukauchi says.
"Hmm…a man child huh." Toshinori glances at Nezu who had said that. "In some ways he's just like our students. They have so much potential." Everyone raises an eyebrow wondering where the principal trying to say. "And just like our students, I suppose it's possible that someone is guiding him, trying to nuture his malice and villainy."
Toshinori remains silent pondering on the words of the principal. "I really don't want to think about what that could mean."
Two Weeks Later…
It's been two weeks since the USJ attack and two weeks since the students of class 1A had been told of the sports festival. They had spent that time training their qbilities hard with each planning on either winning or going far and doing their best. Before they all knew it, the day of the festival had arrived.
The Sports Festival was one of the biggest showings all year for the country of Japan. With the decline of the Olympics over the years, UA began to fill the void left vacant by the once groundbreaking event.
In the Festival, thousands upon thousands of fans, Heroes, and Sidekicks come to scout the up-and-coming talent nearing the Hero world. Usually, the eyes were on the Third Years, but for the first time since the competition began, the First-Year tournament held record breaking attendance.
News Stations from across the country filed in to get a glimpse at Class 1-A, who had recently been attacked by Villains. According to local newscasters in Mustafu, the First Years were some of the most promising prospects for the future Top 10 Heroes since All Might's Golden Era.
While the other classes like the Gen Ed, Support and Business course weren't really all that great in the eyes of the public. They were mainly seen as canon fodder. Only a few of them had ever made it far in the competition since its beginnings and the USJ event didn't help matters at all.
Class 1A Waiting Room…
"Aww man." Mina whines loudly. "I was hoping I could wear my costume." She complains as she adjusts her PE uniform. Most of the class had thought they'd use their hero costumes for the event but turns out they had to put on their sports uniform.
"Well everyone will be in uniforms so at least the games will be fair." Ojiro states as he stretches a bit.
"I wonder what they have in store for us in the first round." Sato says, the muscular teen looking a bit nervous. "It doesn't really matter. We'll just have to persevere." Tokoyami says calmly with his arms crossed. Shoji nods his head in agreement.
Suddenly, Iida enters the room, looking as serious as ever. "Everyone, get your game faces on. We'll be entering the arena soon!" He announces causing the class to tense up a bit. Most of them getting themselves ready for the event.
"It's about time." Ken says as he gets on his feet. "I was getting really bored." Izuku nods his head in agreement. It was probably due to Ken's influence on him, but he didn't really like staying in one place and doing nothing.
"Hey you two." A female voice says cooly causing the two brothers to turn towards the person who had called them which was Shoka. The girl walked towards the two boys. "From an objective stand point, it is clear to say that I'm stronger than both of you."
'Eh? Where did this come from?' Ken and Izuku thought confused.
"But you seem to have All Might backing you up, Midoriya." She says facing Izuku. The boy was surprised that someone had noticed. Ken raises an eyebrow. "I'm not here to pry about your relationship with the man but just know…I'm going to beat you. Both of you." She finishes looking at the two boys with her normal blank expression. The rest of the class were staring at the three, listening in silence.
"A declaration of war? Where's all this coming from?" Kaminari asks as Kirishima gets up from his seat and walks up to the red and white haired girl. "Yeah. What's the big deal? Why are you picking a fight all of a sudden? And right before we get started." He asks but the girl just walks past the red head.
"We didn't come here to be anyone's friends. This isn't a team effort you know." She says as she heads for the door when Izuku calls her out. "Hey Todoroki. I don't know what's going on in that head of yours or why you thought you should be telling us that. You might think you're better than us and that may be true but…"
"That doesn't matter." Ken continues. "We're aiming for the top. So come at us if you want. We don't plan on losing." He finishes with a grin. The girl just looks at the two boys before turning around. "Alright then." She says before walking away. Bakugo watches the conversation with an angry expression as he grits his teeth.
"ALRIGHT IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR THE SPORTS FESTIVAL! MAY THE FIRST YEARS COME ON OUT!" The loud voice of Present Mic says through the speakers.
"Alright class 1A! Let's get out there and do our best!" Iida says loudly.
"Hai!"
The class walked confidently towards the arena, inwardly preparing themselves for the challenge the come. However that confidence left most of them as soon as they stepped into the arena. "W-whoa! T-there's s-so many people!" Izuku stutters out as he looks at the large number of spectators in the large stadium where the sports festival was taking place. Present Mic had just intoduced all the classes that were taking part of the event and the crowd seemed to be cheering loudly for the students. Especially the ones of class 1A, much to disliking of the other classes.
There was a podium that stood at the centre of the stadium and standing on it was none other than the R rated hero, Midnight. Most of the men in the large audience and even the male students were blushing at the sight of the woman due to how she was dressed.
"Is that even allowed?" Ken asks, being one of the few that didn't have a red face at the sight of the pro hero. His question will remain unanswered as the woman cracks her whip and licks her lips in what looked like excitement. "I'm so excited to be the referee of this year's big event!" She states before continuing. "But before we begin, we're gonna have a speech from our students representative!"
"We have a representative?" Uraraka asks.
"It seems so." Momo states.
"I wonder who that'll be." Ken thought loudly. 'Please let it not be me.' Ken prayed mentally.
"IZUKU MIDORIYA!" Midnight announces earning loud cheering and applause from the crowd. The boy just stands there with wide eyes, not expecting to be the representative. Not wanting to waste time, he walks up towards the podium. Ken on the other hand was cheering inwardly that he wasn't picked. He wasn't a fan of speeches.
"To think Deku-kun will be our representative." Uraraka comments a bit surprised. "Yeah, well he got first in the exams, so they must have decided to pick him." Ken answers with a chuckle as the boy was shaking as he stood in front of the mic.
"Hmph, yeah. The heroics entrance exams." A girl from the other classes says quietly with a scoff, something Ken heard as he glances at the girl but chooses not to say anything.
Izuku looked at the crowd of students in front of him and the large audience that had come to watch the festival. He was extremely nervous and everyone could see that. He continued to shake a bit until his eyes landed on Ken who just gives him a thumbs up and grins. Izuku smiles, with his brother encouraging him, he takes a deep breath. "I'm just gonna say this!" He starts. "I'm gonna do my best and win this events, so you all better come at me with everything you got cause I'll be doing the same! And I won't lose!" He finishes with a grin on his face that matched the one Ken had. Another one of Ken's influences on him.
The crowd begin and erupt in applause as they were pumped up for the festival after that speech. The freckled teen quickly walks down the podium and heads back to the class before letting out another deep breath.
"That was scary..." He mutters just as Ken puts an arm around hIS shoulder. "Heh! That was a nice speech Izuku! Knew you could do it!" He says.
"Yeah, it was really good." Uraraka comments.
"Pretty manly!" Kirishima says with a thumbs up. Bakugo just silently scoffs before facing Midnight as well as the other students as she got their attention by cracking her whip.
"Alright, without further ado it's time to begin the first game. This is where you'll start feeling the pain." The pro heroine says. "The first game of the festival will be…" A large screen suddenly appears above her and the screen flashes different colours at high speeds before flashing yellow. "THE OBSTACLE RACE!"
"An obstacle course huh…" Ken mutters.
"All eleven classes will compete in this treacherous contest. The track is four kilometres around the outside of the stadium. Anything goes as long as you stay in the track." She says and the crowd cheer in excitement. "Now then, take your places contestants." All the students walk up to the large gates which was were the race was to start. Everyone got themselves ready while the crowd was waiting in anticipation for the start of the contest and the festival.
"Alright then...on your marks…"
Cold mist begins to form around Shoka's right hand as she looks at all the students.
"...get set…"
'OFA Full Cowling...10%'Izuku thought activating his quirk as green lightning crackled around her body. 'This is it…' Ken just crouches down, his eyes focused on the course ahead as his eyes flash a bright blue colour, a blue electrical aura forming around his body.
"...GOOO!"
As soon as those words left her mouth, all hell broke loose as the students began charging forward to the race track. Pushing past each other to get ahead.
"AND WE'RE OFF TO A RACING START!" The loud voice of Present Mic was heard through the speakers as he was the one commentating during the festival. Beside him was the still bandaged up Aizawa who just watched on quietly. "WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY MUMMY MAN?!" Aizawa groans before turning to his friend and fellow staff member. "How did you even talk me into this?"
Suddenly, most of the students found their feet encased in ice.
"W-what the fuck?!"
"The hell?!"
"Damn bitch!"
Shoka, the one responsible, just ignores everyone and runs ahead. "AND SHOKA TODOROKI FREEZES MOST OF THE STUDENTS IN ONE ATTACK!" Present Mic announces as he was the commentator of the event. Aizawa, who was still covered in bandages, was seating beside him with a bored expression.
"You're so loud." He says dully.
However, some of the students, especially those of class 1A, had managed to get past Shoka's trap. Bakugo using his explosions, Momo creating a pole to avoid the attack, Kirishima using his hardening quirk, Mina using her acids and others were able to avoid the ice.
Shoka was honestly surprised when she saw this. "I didn't expect so many people to get past that, especially those from other classes." She says. Suddenly, two flashes of green and blue move past her causing her eyes to widen. She looks ahead and sees Izuku and Ken dashing forward at fast speeds.
"Sorry Todoroki. But that trick isn't gonna work on someone faster." Ken says as he grins at her before he increases his speed, passing Izuku. Shoka clicks her teeth before as she continues to try and catch up. Her eyes then widen when she saw large looming figures in front of them. Izuku's eyes then widen when he sees that they were the zero pointers from the exams.
"What the?!" He exclaims.
"Target locked. Terminate!" One of the zero pointers says as it punches down at Ken who stopped and quickly jumped back to evade the punch.
"Man, these things again." He says.
"AND ENEMIES HAVE SHOWED UP OUT OF NOWHERE! I WONDER HOW THEY'LL HANDLE THIS!" Present Mic shouts through the mic. "THE FIRST PART OF THE RACE! THE ROBO-INFERNO!"
"So this is what the students faced during the practical exams." Shoka says.
"Where the hell do they get the money for this?" Momo asks.
'Damn. I had to use 100% of OFA to beat one and there's a lot of them.' Izuku thought as the robots charged at them.
"The school obviously through a lot of trouble to do this but I'd honestly wished that they had prepared something more difficult." Shoka says as she crouches down and puts her right hand on the ground. Ice begins to spread from her feet and arm across the ground at a extremely fast rate. "Especially since my dear old father is watching." She finishes as she swipes her arm up in an arc. The ice follows her movement and moves upwards, spreading wide and freezing all the zero pointers in place. Everyone, including the students, were shocked at the power and attack, especially the one's from other classes.
"H-holy…" Ken starts before noticing the red and white haired girl running past the legs of one of the large frozen robots. Not wanting to waste any time, he begins to run after her.
"Woah, she stopped them!"
"She created a path for us!"
"Careful. I froze them when they were off-balance…" Shoka says as robots tipped over and crashed down with a mighty thud and boom causing cold mist and debris to fly up. "…on purpose."
"THAT'S TODOROKI FROM CLASS 1A PULLING AHEAD TO AN EARLY LEAD WITH A DEVASTATING DISPLAY. AMAZING!"
"Yes. It was impressive." Aizawa comments. "Her attack served both as an offense and defense."
"Holy cow!" Ken exclaims as he crosses his arms to block the dust from hitting his eyes. "She's not messing around."
"What the hell was that for?!" Mineta shouts from beside the freckled teen. Izuku glances around noticing that Ken was nowhere to be seen.
'Where did he go?' He asked mentally.
Shoka continued to run forward, confident that her last attack should be enough to slow down most of the other contestants. Her eyes widened when Ken runs past her.
"See ya." He says as he dashes away.
"AND THAT'S KEN HIRO MIDORIYA DASHING PAST TODOROKI AND GAINING THE LEAD!"
"Dammit!" Bakugo growls lowly as he heard that. He uses his quirk and blasts himself over the fallen frozen robots. Izuku calls upon 8% of his power and punches his way through the ice.
"UP NEXT, WE HAVE THE FALL! BE CAREFUL OR YOU MAY FALL TO YOUR DOOM!"
The loud voice of Present Mic booms through the stadium as Shoka and Ken reach the second obstacle. Ken, thanks to his enhanced speed, was able to get past the obstacle easily while Shoka uses her Ice to get across. She glances back and her eyes slightly widened when she saw Izuku hopping each platform easily while catching up.
'He's gotten better.' She thought.
'I have to stick to 8% so as to save enough energy for later.' Izuku thought as he got passed the second obstacle. He continued to chase after Shoka and his brother. Bakugo spotted the three had already crossed the second obstacle and growls in frustration, not liking being behind. He adds more power to his blasts, launching him over the obstacle faster.
"WOW. THEY GOT PAST IT EASILY! THEY'RE ALL AWESOME!"
"Do you have to be so loud."
"NOW FOR THE THIRD AND FINAL OBSTACLE! THE MINEFIELD!"
"Eh?" Ken exclaims before the ground under him blows up in a cloud of pink smoke. He is sent flying back and hits the ground hard. He groans as he gets on his feet, rubbing his head. The explosion didn't hurt him but it was enough to send him flying back. He then coughs out pink smoke from his mouth.
"THE MINES WE HAVE HERE AREN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO KILL BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE HARMLESS!"
"Good to know." Ken mutters. Just then, Shoka and Izuku pass him, Shoka using her Ice to move over the mines while Izuku runs through it with his enhanced speed. His Full Cowling form granted him enhanced durability enough to power through the explosions. Ken, not wasting any time, activates his quirk. He dashes towards the mines, faster than earlier and follows the path Izuku took so as to avoid any more explosions.
Meanwhile, Izuku and Shoka were neck and neck, edging closer to the finish line which was now in their sights. Ken was able to catch up to the two and looks at Izuku.
"Sorry in advance bro." He says confusing Izuku.
"Wha-" Izuku was cut off when Ken suddenly delivered a fast and strong punch to his face sending him tumbling back. Shoka was a bit surprised by this. Ken just flashed her a grin before increasing his speed, dashing away from her and towards and crossing the finish line.
"AND WE HAVE A WINNER! COMING IN FIRST PLACE, KEN HIRO MIDORIYA!"
Ken grins as the crowd erupted in cheers and applause. He revels in the cheering as he waves at the crowd before turning to face Izuku as the light blue electrical aura fades from his body, his eyes stop glowing. "Haha! Nice try Izuku but I still won!"
"Y-you just caught me off by surprise."
"Quit giving excuses and accept that I beat you."
"Tch, whatever."
"Wow, you guys were so fast and cool! Especially Hiro-kun!" Uraraka says as she bounces up to the two Midoriyas. "We could hardly keep up with you guys."
"Heh, you didn't do too bad yourself Uraraka. Getting 17th place isn't that bad. It's pretty high in the rankings." Izuku says and the girl slightly blushes at the boy's praise while Ken grins.
"It's all over now! Now here's the results of our race!" Midnight announces as the screen lits up before the rankings of the race where shown. Not surprising, all of the students of class 1A had made it into the top forty two. "The top forty two have earned the right to advance to the next event! For those that didn't make it, take heart, the festival's showstopper is still being prepared. Now onto the next event…" She says as the screen cycles through options before stopping on one. "...THE CAVALRY BATTLE!"
"Cavalry?" Ken asks.
"You all can form teams of two to four people and form a horse back configuration. It's basically the same rules as a normal human cavalry battle were you have to swipe the enemy's headband and protect your own except everyone will receive points based on their performance in the last event."
"If it's anything like the entrance exam's points system then it'll be easy to understand." Iida comments. Izuku places a finger on his chin. "That probably means the point value of each human war-horse will change based on who's in it." He pointed out.
"OI! DON'T SAY WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY BEFORE I CAN!" Midnight yells at the girl.
"S-sorry…" He mutters an apology.
"Anyway, you are correct. The number of points you're worth will be five if placed in last. 10 for the next and 15 for the fortieth and so on except for fist place who's worth...TEN MILLION POINTS!"
"Huh?" Ken says. Immediately all eyes were on him as every student was glaring at him. 'Well shit.'
"Alright! You all have fifteen minutes to form a team, now get to it!" As soon as Midnight finished, students began to pick their teammates. Ken, not wanting to waste any time, turns to face the two people closest to him, Izuku and Uraraka.
"Hey, what do you guys think about forming a team?" He asks hoping that the two of them would form a team with him. Unknown to him, the two were actually thinking the same thing.
"Sure, besides it's better to team up with friends!" Uraraka says with a smile. "I agree!" Izuku states agreeing with the girl. "It'll make communicating with each other easier. I already have a plan, we just need one more person."
"Who do you have in mind?" Ken asks, Uraraka was also curious as well. Izuku turns and walks up to a certain glasses wearing boy they knew. "Hey Iida, want to join our team?" The freckled boy asks.
"Yeah man, with you we'll win this for sure." Ken says with Uraraka nodding in agreement.
"I even have the perfect plan. With Uraraka's quirk, we can make ourselves lighter and since me, you and Ken are faster and I'm stronger physically, we'll be able to maneuver through the other teams easily. Seeing as we would have the most points, we can't risk attacking other teams so we'll have to keep running until the very end." Izuku states going over the plan he had come up with.
"Heh, I didn't expect anything less from you Midoriya, but...I'm afraid I'll have to decline." Iida says causing the three to gape at each other. "Ever since the entrance exams, I've lost to either one of you two." He says referring to the siblings. "You're wonderful friends but I can't keep following you forever, I won't grow that way." He continues pushing his glasses a bit. "Bakugo and Todoroki aren't the only ones that see you two as rivals. So I'll be challenging you two and do my best to beat you."
With that said, he walks up to Shoka's team, which consisted of Yayaorozu, Kaminari, Shoka herself and now Iida.
"Welp, there goes that plan." Ken says with a disappointed sigh but he could understand why Iida had refused. "So what do we do now?"
"Hehe. Good, you're still missing one person and you're the star." Ken, Izuku and Uraraka turn around when they heard someone says that from behind them. Suddenly a pink haired girl wearing goggles and some kind of gadget jumps up to Ken, getting a bit too close for comfort. "Team up with me person in first place!"
"Who the hell are you?!" Ken asks jumping back to get some space.
The girl just chuckles. "Me? I'm a student from the support course." She says as she takes off her goggles revealing her yellow eyes. "The name's Mei Hatsume." She then points at Ken. "We haven't really met before but I'd like to use your current fame to my personal advantage."
'She's straight forward.' Izuku and Ken thought.
"If I team up with you then I'll be part of the team that everyone has their eyes on." She then rushes at Ken faster than the three could blink, getting close to Ken again. "That means my super cute babies will inevitably be seen by all the CEO's of all the big companies." She then gets even closer to Ken's face and Ken couldn't stop the blush forming. "And following that line of reasoning, me and my marvelous creations will get recruited."
"Hold on, could you slow down a minute? I heard babies does that mean that you um…" Izuku stops talking when he realized the girl wasn't even listening to him and was still talking to Ken who was blushing from how close the girl was. "Wow…seems it's only Ken she cares about."
"Yeah…" Uraraka says with a nod.
"The support course specializes in creating special gadgets that helps heroes with their quirks and skills." She says as she opens a box filled with a lot of weird looking gadgets. "I brought a lot of my babies so I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. Hehehe." She finishes with a light laugh and for a second Ken thought he saw her floating around.
'What the?'
Izuku looks over at the box of gadgets and immediately spotted one that caught his attention. "What about this one?" He picks up what looks like the combination of a jetpack and a backpack.
"Oh so this one's caught your eye." She says. "I based this baby on a certain hero's backpack. Of course I added my own personal touch to it."
"Wait, I recognize that." Izuku says. "Air Jet, the buster hero has one of those. I really love that guy."
"Isn't he awesome?" Mei asks and Izuku nods. The two then continued to chat with each other forgetting Ken and Uraraka.
"Wow…they really are getting along." Uraraka says and Ken could tell she was a bit jealous but didn't say anything about it. "Okay, you two nerds can talk about heroes and gadgets later." Ken says getting Izuku and Mei's attention. "We now have four members, now we just have to form a plan."
"Yeah, but we first have to figure out who our Knight would be." Uraraka states. "I'm not sure if I'm cut out for that."
"I think Izuku should be the knight." Ken states. "We already planned to use Uraraka's quirk to make us lighter and with Mei's weird gadgets, one of them should help us move around better." Ken then puts a finger on his chin. "The two of us are the strongest of the team and while I have no problem being the knight, we'll be the team everyone will be after, including all the big hitters like boom boom and Todoroki. I'm the fastest between the four of us so I'll be able to get us around quicker when the necessary."
"Wow Hiro-kun. I didn't know you were this smart." Uraraka says.
"Huh? What's that supposed to mean?" The boy asks.
"N-no offense but you don't exactly look or act like a smart person. Not that I thought you were stupid or anything. Hehe." Uraraka finishes with a sheepish laugh. "I actually thought the same thing." Mei chimes in causing Ken to gain a deadpan expression.
"Seriously?" He says.
"Well, he's actually smarter than he lets on." Izuku comments.
"Okay, okay. Let's stop talking about my smarts already. Anyway, we now have a plan, I'm trusting you guys to make this work." The boy says changing the subject, not liking how they were talking like he was an idiot.
"Right!" The other three say with a nod.
Few Minutes Later…
"Alright then! Fifteen minute's up everyone!" Midnight announces as she cracks her whip getting the students attention. "The event will begin in three…"
Bakugo cracks his knuckles, small explosion popping on his palms as we glares at Izuku's team with him being the knight. Bakugo's team consisted of Kirishima, Sero and Mina. He was their knight. "Remember you extras, we're aiming…"
"Two…"
"...on a single target." Shoka says as she was her team's knight. The team consisted of Tokoyami, Iida and Momo. "We can't afford to let them escape." She says, her eyes, like every other team were focused on Izuku's team.
"One! Let the Human Cavalry Battle….begin!"
Midnight announces through the mic and immediately, every other team charged at Izuku's team. They all were after Ken's ten million points and possibly, Izuku's own points, since he got second place in the obstacle race. The freckled teen glances at each team as they advanced towards them.
"I'm coming for you two!" Bakugo shouts.
"You're not getting away! This is a battle for those ten million points!" Tetsutetsu comments.
"Okay, it's time to run away!" Ken says, however before the team could start running, they felt themselves sinking into the ground which had softened and looked like quicksand now. "Uh…this is a problem."
"Crap! We're sinking!" Uraraka says panicked as she saw the other teams getting closer to them. "It must be that guy from their team." She says pointing at one of Tetsutetsu's teammates.
"Uh oh!" Hatsume says.
"Guys! Watch your faces!" Izuku says as he turns on the jetpack he was wearing. With Uraraka uses her quirk making all of them lighter, they flew high up avoiding the other teams.
"What?! They flew?" Tetsutetsu says with a growl. "Damn that support course."
Jirou tries to take off the headbands on Izumi's head using her quirk but Ken smacks the earphone jacks away.
"Dammit!" Jirou curses quietly.
The team then land after a while and instantly were on the run. Izuku looks at Mei. "Wow, Hatsume, your gadgets are really amazing!" He says causing the pink haired girl to perk up.
"I know right, they're really great!" She states confidently.
"Yeah, I'm not one for tech and gadgets but your inventions are really something. You must be really talented to make stuff like this at your age." Ken states as he glances back at her while they were still running, trying their best to avoid other teams.
"Y-you really think that?" Mei asks and Ken nods his head. "Yeah, you'll make a great inventor someday. And who knows, maybe you'll be making gadgets for me when I become a pro." The boy says not realizing how his word affected the girl. She was blushing a bit from the praise as she had never been complimented on her work before. Usually people tend to avoid them because they at times cause a lot of damage. It didn't help that it was a cute boy complimenting her.
"Thanks…" She says with a small smile.
"WOW! IT'S ONLY BEEN A FEW MINUTES AND THERE'S ALREADY A LOT OF CHAOS HAPPENING! YOU BETTER TAKE CARE OF YOUR BANDANAS. YOU CAN EVEN IGNORE THE TEN MILLION AND GO AFTER THE OTHER TEAMS!"
"Do you need to shout every time you speak?"
"Hahaha! This isn't a fight or contest anymore. It's a massacre?" Izuku hears a voice say from behind and turns to see Shoji running at them with his dupli arms raised up like he was covering something. He seemed to be alone.
"Wait? Isn't he supposed to be in a team?" Izuku asks as the team ran. Uraraka stumbles slightly feeling her foot stuck to the ground. "Huh? What the heck?!" She exclaims in surprise and Ken looks back to see her foot was glued to a purple grape looking ball that was also sticking to the ground.
"The fuck?" He also exclaims.
"Wait? That's one of that Mineta guy's sticky balls." Izuku says remembering seeing the boy use the quirk during the quirk tests they had on their first day. "But where did it come from?!" He asks looking around.
"From right over here." A familiar voice causes Izuku's eyes to land on Shoji again but this time he could see a figure hiding behind the teen's large dupli arms. Izuku's eyes widen when he recognizes the boy to be Mineta. "Hi Midoriya."
"Is that even allowed?" Izuku asks loudly.
"The judges say yes!" Midnight announces answering the boy's question. Mineta then once again, hides in the shadows as a long tongue speeds towards the bandanna on Izuku's head. Izuku quickly ducks under the tongue, recognizing it to be Tsu's. "Asui too?"
"I told you to call me Tsu." Tsuyu says as she and Mineta continue their onslaught on Izuku's team. Izuku and the others had to react quickly to dodge the flying purple sticky balls and frog-like tongue. Izuku, deciding it was best to escape, activates the jetpack to fly off but due to one of Mineta's sticky balls sticking to one of Hatsume's boots, it ended up breaking.
"Oh no! My baby's all broken!" The pink haired girl cries out in horror.
"Sorry about that. But at least we got away from them." Just as Izuku says that, a loud booming sound was heard from below them as Bakugo uses his quirk to propel himself high towards the air-borne team.
"Crap! It's Bakugo!" Izuku curses.
"DON'T THINK FOR A SECOND THAT YOU'RE SAFE YOU DAMN BASTARDS!" Bakugo yells with a sinister grin that frightens Uraraka as he goes to grab Izuku's bandannas but the ninth user of OFA quickly evades the arm and activates OFA up to 8% on his right arm, punching the ash spiky haired blonde boy back hard and back to the ground. Bakugo grunts in pain as he falls down, only to be caught by a tape from Sero, who pulls him back to the rest of the team.
"Nice catch!" Kirishima says with a grin as they caught Bakugo.
"WHAT?! BAKUGO JUST BLASTED AWAY FROM HIS TEAM! IS THAT EVEN ALLOWED!" Present Mic yells through the speakers.
"He never touched the ground so technically he's okay." Midnight says with a thumbs up. Meanwhile, Team Izuku manage to land safely on the ground and continue to run away.
"Nice work Uraraka." Izuku says.
"Yeah but it's hard to control where we're going with just one foot." Uraraka comments.
"Well, that's not good." Ken says while Hatsume frowns.
'With that busted foot our movements limited. Going air-borne again will be a huge risk we can't take. That means to survive, we'll have to rely on our increased mobility thanks to both Ken's and Uraraka's quirks and my strength' Izuku thought.
"IT'S BEEN SEVEN MINUTES NOW! LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT THE STANDINGS!" Present Mic announces just as the large screen lits up showing the standings for each team in the competition. The crowd gasps in shock and confusion at what they were seeing. Even the few teams that looked up at the screen.
"Wait, hold on a minute! This is an unexpected turn."
Bakugo's is shocked when a hand appears from nowhere and snatches his bandanna and points.
"Other than the Midoriya team, the rest of class 1A isn't doing to well. Even Bakugo's lost points."
"Your class is filled with simple-minded idiots. You have to think bigger." The person who took Bakugo's bandanna, a blonde haired boy says with a smug grin.
"Oh no, he got us." Mina says shocked.
"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU SAY YOU BASTARD!" Bakugo yells in anger at the fact that he had just been insulted by some stupid extra. "COME BACK HERE!"
"Midnight said the obstacle course was just the first game and we figured they wouldn't cut that many of us right off the bat. Would they now?" He then turns to Bakugo who was confused, not knowing where the boy was going with this. "We assumed they'd keep at least forty contestants for the next event, all we had to do was stay within that group as we ran. From our spots in the middle ranks, we could observe the quirks our rivals have and judge their capabilities. Only a fool would obsess over winning the first rounds."
"You planned all this as a class huh?" Bakugo asks but it was more of a statement than a question.
"Well, it wasn't totally unanimous but it's working out just fine. It's better than chasing after a temporary frontrunner like a horse with a carrot weaving over his head." The blonde boy says smugly causing Bakugo's eyes to twitch. He was starting to get mad. Very mad.
"And oh…while I have your attention. Your kinda famous aren't you? For being attacked by that sludge villain." Bakugo's anger was rising the more the bastard kept talking. "You'll have to tell me about it sometime. It must be strange to always find yourself in the role of the victim." That was the last straw. Bakugo was now not just mad. He was pissed off. A red and black aura began to form around him as he clenched his teeth in anger.
"Kirishima…change of plans…" Bakugo growls out with so much venom and anger, the red head and the others in the team cringed at the sight. Bakugo eyes glowed a devilish red as he glares at the smug bastard from class 1B. "Before we destroy Deku…I'm gonna destroy everyone of these B-list idiots." He says and the blonde only smirks.
"So 1B had a plan like that?" Ken said as his team continued to run, avoiding other teams.
"Seems so. But if that's their plan then that means we're not their only target." Izuku says sighing in relief. "That means we're gonna be just f-" Izuku was then cut off by another team approaching them. One they didn't want.
"Don't go celebrating just yet." Shoka says cooly as her team stood in front of Izuku's team.
"Man…I should've expected this." Izuku says as he takes a deep breath.
"THE GAMES APPROACHED IT'S HALFWAY POINT. CLASS 1B TOOK A SURPRISING TURN BY TAKING DOWN MOST OF CLASS 1A. BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS WHO WILL HAVE THE TEN MILLION POINTS BY THE END? THAT'S THE ANSWER WE WANT TO KNOW!"
"Well, this will be tricky." Ken says as he gets himself ready for anything.
Shoka just stares at them with her normal blank expression.
"Alright. I'll be taking those headbands now."
That's it for this chapter. Alright, it took me a while to do this because of school but I should be able to publish more chapters faster from now on, well until the exams in a few months time.
Anyway, as for Ken's other quirks. You all know what to do. I already have quirks planned for him like I've said but I still want to see if you all have some ideas.
