Chapter 42: Building Business with Naruto

Naruto awoke with the sun beating down on his face as he got out of bed. He simply looked down the window of that view of the city feeling he accomplished something. Yawning, he lumbered out to the kitchen smelling food cooking. She was wearing an apron over some light clothing. Given she was cooking, Naruto let that go.

"Smells good." Naruto said.

"It's empanadas with eggs, cheese, and sausage." She said before finishing them off. "Suiko and Snickerdoodle are already fed."

She served the food up as she sat down looking thoughtful.

"Something bugging you?" Naruto asked.

"I'm just trying to take it all that this is happening. And this is my life now." Neenah said. "Even if I could go outside, I can't until the heat dies down which will take months. I'm more trying to have to live with the fact that someone I called my best friend stabbed me in the back."

"I didn't tell you this last night, all things considered, but I guess I should tell you now. When I got to your car, it had a bomb on it. Considering how important that car was to you, I don't think you would plant a car bomb on it…"

"Oh my god…Eli, pedazo absoluto de inmundicia humana!" Neenah said.

"I got it removed…first thing I did with it before storing the car." Naruto said before finishing his breakfast. "Well I'm pleased with this breakfast."

He put the plate in the sink before going to get ready for the day. Naruto had finished his shower when his phone showed that Tiana had texted him saying she had a job for him. A 'TJr' pinged on his mini-map. He simply went to his closet, remembering the online shopping binge he went on last night. Totally worth blowing 50 grand, he thought. He had figured that the fancy kind of men's underwear that the high-priced places carried with all touch. He was glad to be proven wrong and he was never going back. He opted for a blue/orange/white Double P baseball shirt, a pair of blue baggy jeans, a pair of coffee colored round-toe boots, an orange Sweatbox snapback, a gold Magnetics necklace, and a pair of gold aviator sunglasses.

He headed out deciding to go cruise around for a bit.

Alex and Jase had wanted to take a day off their work and spend the day with their son. As they were eating at the hotel's restaurant, the couple was having idle chat when one thing surprised her.

"So he was my best friend. Apart from a friend group back in middle school with Cashlin…his parents pulled him out. I had a feeling they never liked me. They were those upper class WASPs. All I know is he moved and his parents said he never wanted to see me again…I knew it–"

"Kayode." Alex said simply. "Did he call you Kayode?"

"Yeah…I was going by my middle name in middle school…a phase of being obsessive over my African roots. How did you know?" He asked.

"Because Ted was one of my clients." Alex said. "One of the nicer ones…he typically had my company to talk to. No intimacy involved, just a guy on his lonesome who clearly needs better finds. He mentioned he had a best friend that his parents told him that he never wanted to see again because he was being moved away. Changed his number and everything. He's been back for about four years."

Jase was livid but calmed down to ask Alex about his number only to hear a voice.

"Alex?"

Jase turned. Ted might have been taller now, but he still had that short blonde hair and orange ascot.

"Ted…" Jase said. "It's me…Kayode…well Jase."

"But I thought you moved out of the State when I came back." Ted remarked. "What are you even doing here?"

"It seems your parents are full of crap and have been lying to the both of us. So sit down…we should catch up." Jase remarked.

Catching up would have put the pieces together along with a glance through some of Cashlin's files.

"Well, I guess I feel less bad about Diya being dead." Jase said with a sigh. "But I am glad to see you again."

"Same. And Alex, I'm glad you were able to move on…you didn't look really happy where you were before." Ted said as Alex sighed.

"Kid, I wasn't. It was a slow trudge with more mediocre than bad or good. Then I met Jase…and things changed over time. I was able to leave that old job in favor of a better one with him. I have a partner now…raising a kid really is a two person job." Alex said idly as said son was listening to music on his phone.

"That explains things…that kid wasn't an-"

"Oh no. He wasn't a product of my clients…he was from my first husband. He passed from both serving his country…and working for Merryweather." Alex said forlornly.

Ted winced.

"Look, if I knew you had a kid I would have paid double." Ted admitted.

"You were paying me plenty. I have both you and Jase to thank for keeping me afloat." Alex remarked.

"Actually speaking of which, I actually could help. Both of your help…I need relationship advice." Ted said as Alex groaned in annoyance. "It's Chelsea again…"

"Chelsea Zhang? The Asian check with the red hair that was adopted by two lesbian cops. I know her, she's a real b-" Jase said before making sure the kid had earphones in. "itch. Last time I checked, both her moms in the GND, both pretty corrupt. One was undercover with the Saints…only reason she didn't get caught was the Saints falling apart. Ironic that Zhang is a pusher…but what's the issue?"

"She's trying to push me for sex…and I don't feel ready. But my parents give me crap about not taking the chance to…and my mother is on my behind for not manning u-"

"Let me stop you right there. That's not manning up, that's gaslighting. And what the hell does your mom know about manning up? It sounds like her ideal man is a subservient spineless cuck. Considering Victoria, I wouldn't be surprised…she had your dad henpecked. Sex and relationships are a two-way street…and if you're not feeling it, you can either talk it out or leave. It's clear Chelsea doesn't want to talk, so it's time for you to walk away." Jase said sagely. "I wouldn't be surprised if she's trying to bed you because she's probably preggers and was to say you were the daddy or hiding she was cheating on you or wanting to use it to blackmail you. Given she's an attention-seeking basic bitch thot…I'm not surprised. But looking back, I think Cashlin was in on it…or aware of her mom's actions. Because in the moments she brought up Zhang…she never named the boyfriend."

"We need better friends." Ted said as his phone rang. "Looks like she's calling, but you know what. Forget about her. Why don't we go hang out? My treat."

"I'd like that."

Naruto was walking along the pier only to see a familiar face near Smoke on the Water. Naruto did not expect to see her again, but he decided to go to her.

"Millie, hey." Naruto said as Millie gave him a little smile.

Millie was dressed in more casual clothes, notably a red Hawaiian shirt and a rather fancy purse.

"Oh hey, it's too good to see you again. How've you been?" Millie asked.

"Better. Business is good." Naruto remarked. "How about you?"

"Well I'm going to retire early soon. I found that my investments will be enough to keep me afloat. New house is fully paid off…and today was my last day. Named my replacement. I actually have to thank you again for saving me, turns out the company I was using to arrange my skydiving screwed up where I was supposed to jump." Millie said chipperly. "They found the crime scene and were in a panic, but I called him to let them know I was all right. I got compensation from them…half a mil for me not to bring a lawsuit. I accepted, but I think you are entitled to half that money."

"I was just in the right place." Naruto said sheepishly.

"I insist because I'll need you today for something. I have to deal with my daughter…she's back in town. Apparently, her girlfriend ditched her. Can you help pick her up from the airport? I need you to pay you back anyway." Millie said as Naruto nodded.

It was a good thing he was driving his Mesa as they got in and he got to driving. Millie confessed she was not looking forward to seeing her daughter again. Naruto assured me that maybe it won't be so bad. But then he got to the airport, and she certainly stood out. She had a slightly lighter skin tone than her mother but same blue eyes. She had an athletic build but was far thinner…as she was far younger. She had light blonde hair in high pigtails, which is dyed at the ends in blue and pink shades. She wore a tight, short black and red strapped crop top with a star and a diamond on it, a black choker around her neck, black and red fingerless leather gloves, black and red tight latex high cut bloomers, black thigh high socks in red sneakers, dark red lipstick, pink and blue eyeshadow, black mascara, and white face paint on her face. She carried a red duffel bag with her.

"Well, she's a looker." Naruto said.

"Try not to pitch too big a tent, Naruto." Millie said dryly. "Look at her…at least she looks healthy. I swear if she's on any drugs, I'll wring her neck."

Naruto pulled up to let Millie get out.

"Hey ma, I…"

"Oh no, you don't." Millie said getting a wet wipe out of her purse. "Hold still."

Harleen whined as Millie was wiping the face paint off her face…and it did not help Millie was holding her by one of her crop top's straps.

"There. That face paint shit is going to fuck up your face." Millie said, tossing the wipe in the trash.

"You didn't have to do that." Harleen whined.

"I had to. Now let's get out of here." Millie said as they got in the car.

Naruto drove away with the objective being to head to Pacific Bluffs.

"Who's the blonde stiff?" Harleen asked.

"A friend of mine." Millie said. "Happens to be on a similar road like you, but far more successful."

"So he's in the life…I didn't think you were adverse to hanging around criminals." Harleen snarked. "But whatever, I was looking to stay with you."

"I moved to a new place…and I'm not going to just let you live with me. Maybe I would have considered it if you hadn't left when I told you…but you said that you were eighteen and a grown woman now. Welcome to adulthood…there's no refunds." Millie said.

Naruto could see that despite her disdain for Harleen's life choices, she wanted to help her.

"Can you at least get me a job at where you worked?" Harleen asked.

"No. I'm retired…and I'm not ruining my rep to get you a position through nepotism." Millie said firmly. "Before you ask, your father's contact cut ties with me after giving me the remains of your father's accounts."

"I could give her a job, but what exactly are her skills?" Naruto asked. "What exactly were you even doing?"

Harleen explained trying to make it sound bigger than it…but both could read in between the lines.

"Sounds more like joining some juggalos, you dropped acid, spray painted shit, had bonfires, did petty shit, and bang your girlfriend…or more you get her off while you finish yourself off." Millie said, annoyed with her.

"So a pillow princess?" Naruto snarked as Harleen asked what was that. "Basically a selfish partner only wants to get off but won't do anything for their partner."

"Shit." Harleen said. "But mom, are you sure I can't live with you?"

"Not unless you want to put up with 1800 in rent." Millie said. "Considering I live in Pacific Bluffs now…but you need your own place."

"But most of my money went to my plane ticket…" Harleen said. "I was going to consider working at the Vanilla Unicorn…maybe try to find a sugar daddy."

And that's when Naruto had an idea.

"Sugar daddy? Well I'm not too sure on that, but I do like your mother's company." Naruto said as Harleen had a cheeky look.

"I'm sure that you'd consider…I can be a lot more fun my mother." Harleen said.

Naruto and Millie gave each other a glance before snickering to which Millie had an idea.

"Harleen, on second thought, I would be willing to let you live with me rent-free, of course I'd still want you to work. My only condition is if you are willing to be Naruto's 'sugar baby' of sorts. I'd say glorified girlfriend, but you'd have to be okay with me possibly fucking him…others fucking him."

She hoped Harleen would say no, but then she accepted. Naruto could see the disbelief on Millie's face, but she decided she's done what she could do.

"Naruto, you could get her a job, right?" Millie asked, dryly.

"Yeah, my organization could use members. I'd have to give her a bit of a test before she's a full-on member. I got a few things I got to do today…she can roll with me and prove herself. She helps out, she'll be a member." Naruto said, nonchalantly.

He was not complaining at all about this. Getting to bang a hot mom and daughter, today might well have been Christmas. He was even considering donating to the Epsilon group to thank Kaguya. He soon found himself pulling up to Millie's place. A modern styled blocky three floored house with plenty of glass on and around it…1367 Great Ocean Highway. It appeared as a twin to the house next door to it only inverted in direction.

"It's lovely…mom. We can go straight to the beach or just tan in the yard." Harleen said with a small smile. "It'll be great to spend time with you. Look, I know I ran off and didn't listen…but I'm sorry." Harleen said as Millie sighed.

"Apology accepted. Now wait in the car, I need to speak to Naruto, alone." Millie said as he and her got out.

She let him in as Naruto took in the decor.

"Not bad on the location. I actually ended up moving up on my locale…Eclipse Tower. Heck of a view of the city." Naruto said as Millie had a good-natured laugh.

"Well, you must be happy about this arrangement, I figured my daughter would have a bit of pride in herself." Millie said getting the promised cash, handing it to Naruto. "Here's the quarter mill."

"Thanks, Millie. And don't worry, I'll look after her." Naruto said taking the money.

"Of course you will, you still want to get in my pants. Only now, you got the bonus of my daughter." Millie snarked as Naruto laughed.

"Aw come on, I do like your company. Plus, I do want to offer you an associate's position in my organization. Lowest rank there, but it'll get you access to some jobs you can do…a diversion for you when you get bored. Hell, make it a mommy-daughter day." Naruto said as Millie accepted.

"If only to at least train my daughter. Hopefully, someday she'll want to stand on her own two feet." Millie said as he wrote down some details.

"Take this. I'll text my assistant that she could be expecting a call from you. Someone will deliver you a kit." Naruto said, handing a paper to her as he texted Nora on his phone. "Just tell her where to drop it off."

Naruto left for the door as Harleen came up with her things. Millie took Harleen's things and gave her the spare key.

"I'll see you when you're done for the day…and we will have dinner together." Millie said before tossing her a white Heat backpack. "You'll need this."

"Thanks, mom!" Harleen said as Naruto and her headed back to Naruto's car.

Millie closed the door and decided to pour herself a glass of wine while pondering where she went wrong with Harleen.

Naruto considered that a good use of time, gaining $10,000 extra on top of the quarter for being a taxi.

"Well, I got some work to do. Some low-risk stuff." Naruto said as he was driving off.

"Ok, but can you call me Harley, please? Also, maybe after the work's done, you can take me shopping. I'll make it worth your while…" Harley said sweetly. "I could do things my mother wouldn't."

"Harley, your mom sucked me off after I saved her. Tit work too…the only reason we did not go further was because she wasn't on contraceptives. Had it not been for coming today, I probably would have been banging her right now." Naruto said bluntly as Harley gaped like a fish. "But I'm not adverse to not taking you up. Don't screw it up, and Naruto Uzumaki will consider it."

"Of course, Mistah N." Harley said.

The Davis Mega Mall was a place of nostalgia for Ted and Jase, hanging out and such. They were all in the underground part of the mall just leaving the bowling alley.

"Alex, how did he do it?" Jase asked.

"I don't know, my little man was scoring nothing but strikes." Alex said as José walked alongside them.

"Nothing but skill." José boasted.

"Well for a perfect run, you got your picture on the wall and a waiver for a pizza. So I say you had a good d-" Ted said before someone cleared her throat.

"There you are."

"Oh damn it…" Fred muttered. "Chelsea…"

She was a Tawianese young woman with light peach skin and long orange-red hair, swept on the right. A knockout of a woman with her emerald eyes and dressed to the nines with her clothes. She was backed up by her fellow popular girls.

"What the heck happened? I called you and you just ignored it." Chelsea said. "What? So you can hang out with them. And who the fuck is this?"

"She's my fianceé, Zhang." Jase said sharply.

"DaWae? What the fuck are you going hanging around my boyfriend? We're above your station, you gutter trash dropout." Chelsea said as her posse snickered save for two of them.

"Dropout? First off, I didn't drop out. I dropped down to associates in CS and walked away with that degree because the CS program is bullshit. Not that you have the brains to handle that with your useless ass 'Fashion Design' degree you're trying to get." Jase said. "And gutter trash? Please, you're the adopted daughter of two cops dirtier than a gas station bathroom. But I guess between them and they're fucking morons, I guess it's how you manage to get away with selling drugs under their noses."

Silence as Chelsea was fuming. Ted decided to go for the 'jugular'.

"I'm breaking up with you. I already canceled everything you had me buy for you. I can't live like this…I want an actual relationship. All you wanted this whole time is someone you can use as a walking wallet…so go find someone else to be your bank card. I'm done." Ted said as he left her with Alex, José, and Jase leaving with him.

Chelsea simply had a look of muted horror on her face before letting out a shrill scream. The girls with her trying to calm her down before she did anything rash.

"Women, am I right?" Ted said before remembering Alex. "So-"

"Don't apologize. I get it." Alex said, comfortingly.

"That lady back there reminds me of those annoying chatty girls from Recess." José said.

"Reality is stranger than fiction, Little J. Sorry, I had to be coarse in front of you…Chelsea just got me heated." Jase said ruffling the kid's hair.

"Some people just learn the hard way. And don't worry, I'm about to be seven." José remarked.

"Oh right, this Wed-"

A broken sign smacked José in the face, getting the kid to try and fail to not cry. Jase turned around to see the popular girls all pointing at Chelsea.

"It was her fault! She was aiming at Ted and missed!" Olive yelled before her and popular girls bolted to leave Chelsea behind.

José now had a bloody nose with a bruise, and Alex wanted blood. Chelsea was frozen in fear only to try to bolt.

"She is dead!" Alex and Jase roared.

"Go after her. I'll get José patched up!" Ted said.

"Get 'em, mom and dad!" José said.

Naruto and Harley arrived at the 'Logistics Department' warehouse finding Lupe's RV moved there. The two entered to find Lupe at work with some staff now.

"Boss, I'm so glad you finally got a bigger warehouse now. I was able to get some guys to help organize the place. Your assistant set it up as the money to pay us is taken out automatically. Not that you'll be worrying about that…some deal was set up. You and the others won't be paying us 'till next year due to some benefactor." Lupe said as Naruto shrugged that off. "Who's the Harley Quinn cosplayer?"

"A potential member…her name is Harleen Quinzel." Naruto said as Lupe was in disbelief. "I get it, look I'm going to the office. If there's any weapon crates, take one and pop up it to get Harley and all of you a piece. Harley needs a gun and Lupe…I do want you to have something to protect yourself just in case."

"All right, boss." Lupe said as Naruto went into the office.

He knew that he'd lose a crate giving it to them, but it could be replaced. He bought three crates before getting a call from Nora.

[Steal Mission - Cargo on the Sea]

"Bueno mierda, tenemos un problema. The shipment of your cargo is being held up on a boat off the coast, and the crew's turned hostile. Wipe them out and get the shipment back here." Nora remarked. "Need me to source a boat?"

"No, I got a boat. Just have someone with a Brickade ready on land to load the crates. We have Brickades now, right?" Naruto asked.

"Yeah, given your large warehouse. Don't worry about using SS to buy one, each warehouse comes with a free warehouse vehicle. I'll call around for a crew." Nora said before hanging up.

Naruto got up, logged out, and left to get Harley. He found Lupe helping Harley into some body armor.

"Harley, we're going." Naruto said as he called for a cab from BEW. "Lupe. Thanks for keeping the place organized."

"Thanks for your connections in donating a vending machine in the warehouses. Don't worry, my guys will handle the pickup for them." Lupe said as the two left.

"So what's the job?" Harley asked.

"We're going to sea to get some cargo so we're getting my boat from the docks." Naruto said as the BEW cab pulled up. "Get in."

"Damn it!" Jase snarled.

The bitch had gotten away and Alex was just as angry. They were outside the mall panting as Ted and a patched up José caught up with them.

"She got away." Alex said bitterly.

"I can help."

They turned to see Olive and the other two girls. Olive surprisingly was apologetic citing she could brush off insults but assaulting a child crossed a line.

"She should have walked away, but she threw a tantrum. As far as she's concerned, she is no longer welcome in our group." Olive said.

"Well, at least you're upfront about it." Jase remarked.

"And is it true you dropped down?" Gigi asked.

"Yes, I dropped down. College isn't all worth it…it has its uses, but depending on the career you want…they'll want experience. It's bullshit I know, but that's just how it is. Besides, I made way more money as a hacker, independent IT guy, and an all around information gatherer." Jase said as his phone rang. "Hang on. Yo."

"It's Nora, I got a job for you and Alex. Low risk enough that you could take the kid with you, if you need to." Nora stated as he asked what the job was. "I need you both to go to 'Logistics Depot' warehouse in La Mesa, pick up a Brickade and get near the sea. Boss is getting a package by sea and needs people ready to load it in the truck when he returns to land."

"Ok, I'm on it." Jase said before hanging. "Alex, work called. Looks like it's taking your kid to 'work' day. Ted, sorry man…it's work."

"Don't worry about it. I'm not going to interrupt your hustle. $10k a week might be small potatoes to me, but that builds." Ted said as Olive balked.

"Wait, 10,000…a week?!" Olive asked.

"Actually, that's how the associates are paid…"

"Wait, you wouldn't be talking about Tidal Fox? Because we are actually considering joining the Saints, but well they're all dead. Ran by morons. But is it true? Is TF really led by the Ghost of Liberty?" Olive asked.

"Co-lead by her and another guy." Jase said, moving for his car. "Look I hav-"

"They hiring?" Olive asked. "Because we could use work that pays. We got loans to pay off, and yes we don't mind getting our hands dirty."

"Fuck it. I'll make the call. You guys doing anything now?" Jase said as Olive smirked. "Good."

"If they're going, I'll take José home." Alex said before kissing her fiancé. "I'll see you later."

"Of course, need me to get anything afterward." Jase said before giving her the keys.

"Nah, I'm good. Just make it back." Alex said before getting in the car with José. "And Ted, thanks for your company."

"Yeah, of course." Ted said as Alex drove off. "Jase, need a lift?"

"I got it handled." Olive said.

"Later man, you got my number and I got yours now." Jase said leaving with Olive and the others.

Out on the sea, Naruto was given his new orange and black Jetmax the test of handling the seas. Harley had a pair of binoculars looking out for the boat.

"I see it. A white and brown Marquis. It's got two small boats guarding it. Looks like about six people, all armed." Harley said getting a Grenade Launcher out of her backpack. "Get me close and I can blow the smaller boats up."

"With pleasure." Naruto said accelerating for them.

Harley took aim and fired at the first Suntrap blowing up the engine of that boat has Naruto used his Compact Rifle to do an aquatic drive-by on the Marquis putting bullets on the two guys on the boat.

"Harley, take the wheel!" Naruto said before jumping onto the Marquis before swapping to his Rocket Launcher firing into the other Suntrap. "BOOM!"

"Damn, nice shot." Harley said, pulling up. "The crates there?"

She helped Naruto load them onto the Jetmax before leaving sticky bombs on the Marquis. Harley drove away as Naruto detonated them, blowing up the Marquis.

"Coast guard is going to be coming here, so we need to get off the water. We'll head back to my dock and unload the shit there." Naruto said before calling Nora. "Yeah, it's me. It will go according to plan. I'm heading to the Puerto Del Sol Marina."

"Jase is inbound with people to pick it up. I'll have vehicles ready to drive seeing you'll want to handle the Brickade. Also it seems he's convinced some new faces to join. Three new people." Nora remarked.

"Nora, I believe that warrants a bonus for Jase, doesn't it?" Naruto stated as Nora agreed. "Good to hear. I'll see you later."

Naruto hung up as Harley arrived at the marina back into Naruto's dock space.

"Wait here." Naruto said getting back onto land.

He ran up to find Jase with three chicks all waiting for them.

"Yo. The blonde one is Olive, the black one's Gigi, and the southern brunette is Krista." Jase said. "Let's just say I convinced them that working for you is profitable."

"They got skills?" Naruto asked.

"My dad was in the military." Gigi said, pulling a deagle. "I can handle a gun."

"I'm a Texan. Firearms come second nature." Krista snarked.

"I'm…willing to take time to learn." Olive said. "Not like we can afford going to college anymore. Student debt is too much and it's not worth the trouble."

"Wait, your families aren't rich?" Jase asked.

"No, we look the part, but we're not. Chelsea and the others thought we were, and we rolled with it." Olive confessed.

"Ok, then. Welcome to Tidal Fox. You'll start as associates and seeing you were recommended by Jase. You'll work with him and he'll determine if you're fit to be full-on members." Naruto said. "Now follow me, we have work to do."

As they all followed, Olive asked if this was set up like the Italian mafia.

"The Italian mafia isn't the standard. And the Nine Tails is a yakuza, mostly." Naruto said as they walked on the dock.

"But it's the same setup. Bosses, underbosses, consiglieres, caporegimes, soldatos, and associates." Olive remarked.

"Actually, yes and no. In a Yakuza, the consigliere role is divided up as a team. So lawyers that would be seen as associates, would have rank in a yakuza. There's also the added rank of a specialist. Not necessarily all fighters but it doubles for people who have a very specific talent or are members that are ambassadors from other organizations. Other than the traditions and such, it's similar." Jase said.

"So what are you, an underboss?" Krista asked as he laughed.

"Nah. I'm a 'headquarters chief'. I managed operations, aid with my hacking, and did intel gathering. I'm right under the head advisor." Jase said. "And it looks like we got crates to…who's the Harley Quinn consplayer?"

"That's Harleen Quinzel. Yes, that's her real name. Literally born on the same day the character was introduced." Naruto said to the disbelief of the others.

"Hello." Harley said.
