Jay's Perspective

Jay looked up at the ceiling of his cell. His trial was around the corner and, honestly, he didn't have much help. He hoped the laws in Agrabah were less harsh than they were when his dad was in power. Jafar had told him how people's hands were cut off for stealing. Granted, everyone else from Agrabah-Aziz, Jordan, etc.-told him those were just rumors. But...he liked his hands. And his freedom. His thoughts were disturbed by a metal clinking sound. Jay turned to the door and he felt a spike of fear.

Carlos was standing at the door to his cell with a smile. Jay got up, rushing to the door. "You know what happened last time with Mal," Jay started. "I don't know what's going on, but you can't be here."

Carlos chuckled. "Don't worry, Jay." He held up a letter and passed it between the cell bars. "Formal apology from Aladdin and Jasmine. They didn't like how harshly you were being treated in Agrabah, but their hands were tied."

Jay opened the letter and read it, finding it really was an apology. "What changed?"

"We found out who was really behind the theft. Your name is cleared. So are Mal and Freddie's. The guards are getting the keys to your cell, but I just had to tell you."

"I'm really free?" Jay asked. When Carlos nodded, Jay swiped one of the chains from Carlos's jeans. In a matter of seconds, he'd undone a link. He grabbed a butter knife from his tray of food and inserted both of the tools into the lock of the cell. He fiddled with the lock a bit and the door opened. "Good. I've been wanting to do that for a long time."

Carlos grinned. "You didn't run."

"If I ran, I'd be guilty in everyone's eyes," Jay said. "I wanted to have a chance to prove my innocence. And, if it didn't work out, I could always bail later."

"Goodness class?"

"Goodness class." Jay chuckled. "Now, you said someone was behind all this. Who is it?"

"That's a very long story," Carlos said, a troubled look in his eyes.

"I have time," Jay said with a stern expression.

Evie's Perspective

Evie had always been told cursed sleep was dreamless. But this wasn't. It was an endless loop of nightmares that started sweet before turning devastating. For Hearts was the biggest fashion brand in the world, carried across Auradon and beloved by its customers. Then Evie was falsely accused of stealing ideas, her company and reputation crumbling before her eyes. She was surrounded by friends and love one moment and the next they had all disappeared, leaving her all alone in an empty castle. She was happily in love, until she felt insanely jealous of one of her husband's female friends. She even went as far as to create a poisoned apple to eliminate the "threat" she posed.

The nightmares all had the same formula. One second she was happy, she had everything she could ever want...the next it was all snatched away.

During this nightmare, she was on a first date with Doug. They were having ice cream at a pier. She asked if he wanted to ride the ferris wheel and she could see his face blanche at the thought. "It's okay, we don't have to."

"I..." Doug began. "If it'll make you happy, let's try it."

"I don't need to take a ride on a ferris wheel," She grabbed onto his arm, careful not to bump over his cup of ice cream. "I'm perfectly happy already."

She stared at Doug's face and the affectionate look he wore. Then, his eyes focused sharply, a pink haze passing over his cheeks. At first, she thought he was blushing. But he was glowing. His cheeks were literally glowing with pink light. Evie looked around to see where it was coming from, but she found no source.

"Doug?" Evie asked. "Why are you pink?"

"Evie!" He said, grabbing her hand so quickly she'd dropped her ice cream cone. "You're-I-where are we?"

Evie looked around. "The pier," she said confusedly. "Are you alright?"

"No, we were..." He suddenly stopped talking, looking a bit nervous.

Evie wasn't sure what to say. But curiosity got the better of her. "Where were we?"

Doug paused. "The infirmary. I was...hurt. And you were cursed."

"What do you mean?" Evie asked.

"Someone. This witch had used a magic doll. I was in the infirmary. You were there, too, you were under a sleeping curse. But Fairy Godmother healed me, and then I kissed you, and then you looked like you were waking up."

"Wait...what?" Evie couldn't understand it. But her mind settled on one thing. "If you woke me up from a sleeping curse...does that mean?"

When Doug nodded, a pink fog consumed the pear and a weightless feeling settled over Evie. When she blinked the fog was surrounding her. But when she opened her eyes, she was laying on an infirmary bed in Auradon Prep. Doug was sitting on the bed next to her, his face hovering over hers as if he had just kissed her.

Evie threw her arms around him. When Doug hugged her back, Evie opened her eyes and looked down at the dress she was wearing. Then it all came back to her. The witch. The cursed bracelet. The cauldron. The letter. The tacky dress.

"We know who did this," Evie said, thinking about Mal and Jay. "We have to tell everyone."

"Don't worry," Doug said reassuringly. "Everyone already knows. They got him."

"How? How long were we asleep? Why do all this? You said you were hurt? Are you better?"

"Fairy Godmother told me and it's a very long story."

"I have time," Evie said with an uncharacteristically stern expression.

Mal's Perspective

When Mal saw Ben at the door to her cell, she ran to it. "What's going on? Where have you been?"

Ben pulled a key from his jacket pocket, using it to open the cell. He wrapped her in a huge hug. "You have no idea how long I've wanted to do this. You, Jay, everyone. Everything is going to be fine now."

"You are making it very hard to be mad you haven't been here to visit," Mal said jokingly.

"I'm sorry," Ben said, looking at the ground. "I wasn't exactly myself."

Mal put a hand on his cheek and lifted his face up. It was rare for Ben to look like this. "What happened?"

"That's a very long story," he said with a reassuring smile.

"I have time," Mal said with a concerned expression.

Freddie's Perspective

When Freddie heard someone approach her cell, she looked up. She was shocked at who she saw. A girl with long, black hair and green eyes wearing a golden collar set with nine rubies. Freddie had seen that collar before and it belonged to...

"I'll cut straight to the chase," Vivianne said. "Your friends are about to come free you from this cell. Everyone found out about Wes and you're about to be a free woman."

Freddie's heart lifted for a moment. Then she started to wonder why Vivianne was here. Kidnapping. Silencing. And a whole host of other things she'd learned about back at Dragon Hall on the Isle. But the biggest lesson she'd learned in school is that you never show fear to anyone. "Thanks for the info," Freddie said nonchalantly.

"It's a shame that you're the last person they thought to let out," Vivianne said. "Jay, Mal, and Evie are already free. You risked everything for them, but you're the last person they think of."

"Is that why you're here?" Freddie asked. "Trying to turn me to your side? I expected something more creative."

Vivianne chuckled. "I'd never wanna partner with you. I prefer my witches a little more diabolical. But I did have something to offer you."

Vivianne reached into the sleeve of her jacket and pulled out a gleaming, diamond and gold wand. Freddie's jaw dropped. "How do you have Fairy Godmother's wand?"

"I injected a sleeping potion in her neck and took it," Vivianne said plainly. "But...it's a little too flashy for my taste. Do you want it?"

Freddie was confused. "What are you even talking about? Is it even real?" Freddie asked.

Vivianne quirked her head to the side and Freddie almost gasped. It was a cat-like gesture that was uncanny when performed by a human. "You can test it yourself if I give it to you. But I want something first."

Now Freddie could understand. It was a trade. And there were few things as simple as a trade. "Which is?"

"Carlos had some interesting books in his possession and I know that you took him to a secret room in the library," Vivianne said. "Tell me how to get to it and I'll give you the wand. But, just so you know, if you give me bad information, I'll push one of your friends off a balcony."

"You think the wand is worth getting into that room?" Freddie asked in disbelief.

"I think that Wes said something not too long ago that upset me," Vivianne said. "You'll just give it over to FG or, if you're smart, use it to break down the barrier. I mean, you tried to help and got locked up because VKs aren't trusted so...why work with them?"

"Is that it?" Freddie asked. "You think I'll be a pawn? I'd give the wand back, you know."

"I don't care what you do. Wes compared me to foxes. Losing the opportunity to play around with one of the most powerful magic wands in the world...I think that'll sting him just enough." She paused. "So, do we have a deal?"

Freddie nodded and told Vivianne how to get to the secret door. Vivianne dropped the wand to the ground and sped off. By the time Freddie was able to reach it through the bars, the familiar was long gone.
