"I knew it," Ignitus told him, "I knew that a magical aura resided in you. It's almost impossible in humans..."
"How do you know so much about humans?" Jhonny asked, "I thought they didn't exist in this world"
"Ever since you decided to stay with us, you have been reminiscing about your past, wondering what the future holds for you," Ignitus explained, showing him his book again, "You have been accidentally writing pages in it the more you reminisce, and I see how lonely you felt when you were young. little..."
Jhonny gave the word to Ignitus, trying to hide a sad face.
"Don't worry, I didn't have a father figure either" Ignitus soothed him, "My father passed away after going to the Great War. He was also a Guardian of Fire, so I set out to carry on his legacy."
"But at least you have a good memory of him..." answered Jhonny, embarrassed, "I wish I had someone to imitate"
"Life is not about imitating who you appreciate the most or thinking about where you come from, but about being who you decide yourself and what decisions you make"
"But… if a part of me is human… will the power corrupt me and fill me with darkness?"
"Maybe, maybe not... To do this, you must listen to those around you because, even if you fall into the darkness, they will bring you back to the light, like Cynder. You and Spyro are the same in one thing: they would never let their hearts fill with hate and darkness."
There was a minute of silence on the part of the young dragon, until he dared to ask:
"Ignitus… do you trust me to be a guardian? because?"
"And why not? You not only have great spirit, but also the ability to improve and lead. A fervent desire to help and love. Young dragon, you show what I once felt when I was young…"
Johnny blushed a little at this.
"However: being a guardian is not only about values, but also about giving the best you have. And to achieve this, you must overcome your physical and mental limits, and reach a point of balance between light and dark.
"I can do that?"
"You already exceeded your limit 2 times without realizing it: against Simian and against Cerberus. Despite not being born a dragon, you have mastered mana control to magnitudes only a guardian could. It is true that mana is obtained from spiritual gems, as they are a source of spiritual energy. But each one of us has spirit, so if it gets stronger, mana too, do you remember the shape of your fire when you defeated Cerberus?"
The young apprentice replied, remembering:
"A dragon..."
"Right: it was the dragon that lives in you. And now, it's time for you to meet him..."
Saying that, he drew another symbol in the air, while saying:
"Iter spirituale!"
Immediately, Jhonny felt that he was being dragged along at great speed, while being blinded by a ray of light. When he blinked, he found himself in a place that looked like the dimension of Convexity: shiny islands of a dark blue color floated in the air, some of these had fallen columns that moved at determined times; likewise, there were human-sized white gems that resembled full-size mirrors. The wind was not blowing, but you could breathe; in the background, there was no more than the color space of a nebula; In the distance, another floating island could be seen, with a kind of door that led to nothing. There were no other living things.
"Where has Ignitus sent me?" he wondered, "Well, I guess I should go to that door..."
He realized that he had recovered: he was no longer tired at all from flying to the White Island, but had miraculously recovered. As he flew, the white gems lined up, as if making a passage for him. However, instead of seeing his reflection, he found a curious scene in one of them:
"What's wrong with you, did you get lost because you hit your head very hard? Or did you fall out of your bed?"
"Let's say a bit of both"
"Hey, that's..." he said to himself when he got closer to look at it more closely, "when I came to this world... It means that they are..."
And not only that memory: there was also his arrival in Warfang, the training in the Temple, when he met Edel. However, it wasn't just the ones he had as a dragon: he could see his memories as a human: his first day of school, his failures in physics, the shyness he displayed...
"It seems that everything happened a long time ago..." he thought, until a wave of heat was felt:
The door to which he was heading began to open and release large amounts of fire. It was as if a fire spread behind her. At first, Jhonny felt some fear for what was behind it, but remembering that he was now a fire dragon, he knew better than to fear. Flying to the door, he flung it open (the handle was hot).
A puff of air met his face; a large dragon was in front of him… it was even three times larger than an average adult dragon. His body was not exactly of scales: it was as if it were pure fire. It was so colossal that the young dragon felt too small, like an ant. Fortunately, he was asleep.
"Maybe it's not good to be here…" he said, trying to turn around.
But his blood ran cold when this huge dragon opened his eye, looking at the small being in front of him.
"So... you are the little being that I reside in..."
"You… do you reside in me?"
"Yeah, and I can't believe how disappointing you are..."
"Hey!" Jhonny said something annoying. However, he was once again intimidated by the colossal size, "I... have faced powerful subjects..."
"If you weren't a dragon, you would surely have died with a mere Frog Weed …"
The apprentice felt trapped: perhaps what the colossal being was telling him was right. However, he shook his head trying to avoid what he said to him.
"Hey, if you reside in me, why are you telling me that instead of helping me?" asked.
"Because you still haven't become the dragon you think you are. Your draconic form that you have in the physical world is just a reflection of me. Without me you would not exist"
"But... without me you wouldn't exist either..." reflected Jhonny. However, that did not seem to please the dragon, because he raised his huge body.
"Do you really believe that?!"
Apparently angry, he shot a flame at the young dragon. Jhonny managed to cover himself with his wings... that heat was so stifling that it seemed real and he felt his wings burning. He thought he couldn't bear it, that it would be the end...
"No!" he yelled, gathering that heat around him and throwing it back at his attacker.
Although his counterattack repulsed the fire of the colossus, it was impossible to overcome such a huge being by himself. However, the fire suddenly stopped, due to the elemental dragon stopping.
"That's the perseverance I wanted to see…" he told her, "Even though you could have died, you resisted and changed your fate. That is a very powerful gift, and it is the one that you have to demonstrate in your next test "
"Were you testing me?" Johnny asked, understanding the dragon's motive.
"You decide that yourself. After all, I am you and you are me. Now, you must face your other self, and be victorious against the darkness that lurks in your heart..."
The atmosphere had suddenly turned cold. Looking back, the young dragon saw a black storm cloud approaching that place.
"That is… my darkness?" asked.
"The closer you get to the light, the greater the darkness. But if you push your physical and mental limits, your light will keep that darkness at bay and you will find a balance"
"I don't understand..."
"You must will. And there will also come a time when you have to decide the future of this realm or the life of your best friend… there will only be one destiny, what will you choose?"
"Well... I want to see this world heal, but not at the expense of my new friends..."
"So?"
Johnny took a deep breath before answering:
"I guess I'll find a way to change that fate"
The colossal dragon nodded its head while saying: "I wish you luck"
The young dragon blinked, and when he opened his eyes, he found himself back in the Chronicler's room. But it wasn't just Ignitus: Spyro, Cynder, Sparx, Edel, Ray and Thorr were there. Near him, there was a small table with a cake and a candle.
"Happy Birthday. Jhonny" those present told him.
