Author notes: The week has gone so fast that I forgot yesterday was Wednesday and realized only minutes ago that I had yet to post a new chapter. Sorry for the delay!

Temari hid underneath Shukaku's big tail. Kankuro made himself the smallest he could, resting against his sister. Temari knew he was probably fighting to stay awake at this point. Her little brother was visibly exhausted. She was as well.

They heard footsteps approaching, and soon enough, she heard her father's voice. Temari wanted to scream at him that he was doing his biggest mistake, but Yashamaru motioned to her to keep quiet. Sadly, the ninja seemed to be seen by the Kazekage.

"Yashamaru? Why are you here?"

Temari couldn't help but gasp. And her little girl's voice reached her father's ear.

"What are you doing here Temari!" her mother said. "It's dangerous. Do not stay there. Yashamaru what the hell were you thinking?"

Rasa looked furious, he took a kunai out. "If you came here to hurt my child…"

"I tried to catch up with them. They brought me here."

"They are children, you are lying!"

Temari and Kankuro both screamed at their father to stop as the Kazekage started running towards their uncle. Karura screamed at him as well. She didn't want her brother and husband to fight. "Rasa, stop!"

Temari closed her eyes and covered Kankuro's with her tiny hands. She didn't want to see her father kill her beloved uncle. Because she knew the Kazekage was capable of doing so. And probably intended to at this point.

But she heard no screams from her uncle. No screeching of metal, from when a kunai hit another kunai. She suddenly felt wind, and wondered if Yashamaru used a jutsu to make Rasa move away from him.

She opened her eyes to Shukaku protecting Yashamaru and sending the Kazekage flying in the air. Rasa was skilled, so he manipulated the sand to prevent his death from a broken neck. Temari took her fan out, ready to act too. She loved her father, but she was ready to do anything to protect her mother and her little brother that she carried. Rasa needed to know he couldn't beat anyone just because he had power. Temari heard her mother gasping. She had seen the fan in her young daughter's hands.

"Temari, you're not old enough to use that. Stop. It's no use. I know you're mad at your father, but it's going to be okay. I'll be okay, I promise. We're on a mission here and you're just a child. Yashamaru, please, take the kids home and don't interfere with our mission."

Shukaku shook his head. "I highly suggest listening to what I have to say, and what they have to say."

"Pfft!" Rasa mocked Shukaku.

"Kazekage, stop," Shukaku said. His tone was becoming menacing, and Temari knew he was holding himself from killing the man. "They earned my respect and I'll do whatever I can to protect them. I could kill you if I have to. I know the boy your wife carries only exists to be my host. It's his purpose of living. But I can assure you he won't be my jinchuriki today. The birth process would become too risky, and I don't want to kill your wife by accident. She doesn't deserve this. And I don't think you want to use the woman you love as a sacrifice. The village will stay strong while you wait, and I promise to make it stronger then. I'll make sure your son, Gaara, is strong, but after his birth."

Rasa stood up and looked at the one-tail. He seemed completely lost. He was shaking. Could Shukaku have hurt his pride?

Shukaku didn't even let the man say anything and continued his speech. "Also, as much as I hate talking with my friend the nine-tail, he told me something that might be useful to you. He has a good relationship with his jinchuriki, and the seal he has is part of that. You don't want me to make your son go insane. I could. You don't want to lose control of me to the point everyone in the village fears us. Other villages will, but your village is what you need to save. That's the purpose of having me here. The Hokage and his wife are seal experts, according to the nine-tail. They made the Kyuubi's seal. For the well-being of Suna, because I know you love your village, please, ask them to do mine. I respect your daughter and oldest son enough to tell you how to seal me, and to let the nine-tail win an argument. Let it be worth it."

It was Temari's turn to be shocked. She hadn't realized the nine-tail had contacted Shukaku. She hadn't exactly thought of the fox time-traveling. Did Kurama warn him about what could happen to Gaara? What did happen to him in their previous life? Gaara had had a tragic childhood and almost became a psychopath. Then, when he started gaining the village's trust, he had lost Shukaku to the Akatsuki. No one wanted a repeat of that. Was Kurama convincing enough that Shukaku, who was known to hate him, trusted him?

Rasa took his wife's hand. He didn't dare look at something other than the beast. Temari knew he didn't trust Shukaku yet. He was scared of making the wrong move.

"Temari, Kankuro, you shouldn't stay there. The beast is dangerous."

"Shukaku is not going to hurt us," Temari assured. Well, she wanted to believe it. "Besides, if he's this dangerous, why seal him into a baby?"

Shukaku decided to intervene. "Come back with the baby once he's born. I'll help him protect the village and your pride. Make him the strongest ninja Suna has ever had so he can take your place when you retire."

Rasa fell to his knees. The beast's words were getting to his head.

"Karura, what do we do? I want to protect Suna, but I can't do this to you…And I don't want to trust that monster."

Temari noticed her father crying. He never cried. While Temari's eyes filled with water from seeing her father suddenly so vulnerable, Kankuro's eyes had widened. Shukaku growled.

"Stop calling me a monster! I won't accept this! You're lucky your beloved children are right behind me because you'd be dead!"

Rasa stood up and immediately apologized. Temari didn't know if he was honest or just in a trance, but she wouldn't ask.

"Dad! Please. Trust what Shukaku says," Temari said.

"Hokage. Please call Konoha," Kankuro said. Temari knew he wanted to give a speech too, but he needed to keep his adult brain from acting up. "Village help another."

Temari liked Kankuro's suggestion. They had come back to a new life to prevent a global war. One way to do it was reaching peace within the nations. Suna reaching out to Konoha could be a starting point. Hopefully, that Hokage would take them seriously and not betray them. Temari hoped that Orochimaru wouldn't use Suna to invade Konoha.

Rasa looked at his wife. "I'll think about this. Let's all go home."
