Welcome back to the Trench! It's a gloomy, rainy day today. So what better day than to read some stories? If you hadn't guessed by now, I love to sprinkle pop culture references in my story, just like in my life. Trying to stay true to the timelines, dates, and if the characters would even know to make those jokes. If I mess up, I apologize, and throw myself at you, the reviewers, mercy. Please be gentle. With that, I own nothing but the plot and OCs, and please enjoy!
Agatha and Kat were also chatting as they walked back from the servo, though about different things.
"No skin?" Agatha asked. Kat shook her head.
"None." She confirmed.
"Rita gave him the potion?" She asked.
"Yeah, that one made me question things." Kat said. They walked for a little longer in silence.
"So, tell me more about Tommy. He sounds cute when you guys were your original age." Agatha said. Kat waved her hand, hoping the sun hid the slight pink tinge to her cheeks.
"Yeah, but he has a girlfriend." She pointed out. Agatha shrugged.
"Doesn't stop you from looking. Just because you know you can't afford the dress doesn't mean you can't still look through the window." She said. Kat thinking this over as Cori and Beatrice came running up to them, both sweaty, pale, and out of breath.
"What's wrong?" Agatha asked, looking both worried and annoyed. It wouldn't be the first time Beatrice went running from a Dingo or said a Wombat charged her. For a girl who wanted to study the most dangerous creatures in the world, she was a bit of a sook.
"We just had 'Deliverance'", at this word, Beatrice took on an Aussie accent, "take a shot at us!" She said, hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath, Cori copying her. It amazed Kat that they even breathed the same.
"What?" Kat asked. Cori glared at her, putting her glasses back on so she could give it properly.
"You heard her. This Australian Redneck,"
"Bogan." Kat and Agatha said together.
"right, came out, told us to leave, and fired at us as we did." Cori said.
"So you left the jeep along with him?" Agatha asked as they started walking back down the road. Beatrice gave her a dry look.
"Well, ya know, getting shot was a bit more important than your car." She said.
"And I suppose that Wombat that chased you up the tree was there, too." Agatha said.
"That Wombat did tree me! He was coming right for me!" Beatrice loudly stated.
"Wombats can be mean. I've seen documentaries." Cori said. Agatha rolled her eyes.
"They fuck all waddle two miles an hour!" She said.
"Hey! Language in front of the minors!" Beatrice said. Kat snorted a laugh.
"Please, the mouth on this one, she got detention for swearing up a storm."
"After Rocky whipped open his locker into my face." Cori said. The argument went through several topics until they got back to the jeep. Agatha propped open the hood, and was about to pour the water into the radiator when something caught her eyes. Or rather, the lack of something.
"The spark plugs are gone." She said. Beatrice came hurrying over next to her, while Kat and Cori peered into the engine.
"What do you mean?" Beatrice asked.
"I mean, the spark plugs are gone." Agatha said, looking over at Beatrice.
"Someone took them." She said. Beatrice gave her a look.
"Believe me, now?" She asked. Agatha was silent, then took a swig of the water jug, and looked at Beatrice.
"Which way did you see him come from?" She asked. Beatrice held up her hands.
"Whoa, are you thinking what I think you're thinking?"
"I'm getting those spark plugs back." Agatha said, moving around Beatrice, who moved back in front of her.
"Listen, I'm all for getting even and everything, God knows, I'm from Newark. But we need to be realistic. The guy had a gun and no running water. Not a good combination. I say we take our losses, go to the gas station, and call for help." Cori looked at Kat.
"It's like the opposite of me and you." She said. Kat had to agree. She was the one to keep Cori from getting into sticky situations, not the other way around.
"I worked hard for this jeep. I ain't about to let some bogan bloke scare me off and take my stuff. I'm going to get those plugs." Agatha said, walking into the tree line. Beatrice looked at Kat and Cori, shrugged her shoulders, and followed. Cori put her hands on her hips.
"These crystals better be worth it." She told Kat.
