Episode 8: Anole You're In There Part 2

Spider-Man stood there in shock as he heard that the lizard creature he fought moments earlier was this woman's father.

Spider-Man: That was your what? I mean, Are you sure you aren't thinking weirdly out of fear and panic?

?: No I'm not. That is my husband and I know it is because I saw him transform into that monster!

Spider-Man: Transform? What did you mean?

The woman sighs as she sits with her infant son in her arms.

?: Years ago, my husband, Curt Connors, was a military medic. There was a battle he was a part of and when he was going to get injured soldiers to safety, he sacrificed his right arm from a mine to get them to safety. After he was discharged due to his wound, he dedicated most of his life afterwards to researching biology and reptiles in hopes of making a serum that could regrow limbs or other injuries. I was very supportive of his research and the family life remained healthy. However, last night, at his lab at General Techtronics, he perfected the reptile serum he was trying to create and decided to test it on himself. It did work on his way home, but there was something odd about him… But, when he got home, he heeled over in pain and started transforming into that Lizard thing. He was going to attack me, but he saw Billy, our son, and I swear I saw some remaining humanity left and he fled into the night and we have been chasing after him since… Please Spider-Man.. Find and help my husband…

Spider-Man thinks for a moment on what to do, but he looks at the infant Billy Connors and he gets reminded of losing his Uncle Ben and he wishes to not see another boy grow up losing a father to something out of their reach and clenched his fist.

Spider-Man: I'll help. Tell me Mrs. Connors, Did your husband have any notes about an antidote if anything went wrong?

?: Only half of them were at home… I think the rest of it was at General Techtronics.

She hands Spider-Man a folder with half of Curt's research.

Spider-Man: I'll promise I'll find and cure your husband. Head home and rest since you look tired.

Mrs. Connors nods as she gets up and heads home with her son in her arms. Spider-Man looks at the folder and then shoots a webline and swings off when he hears police sirens approaching the scene.

General Techtronics, Later that Evening

In Dr. Connor's lab, a vent cover pops open as Spider-Man glides down upside down on a webline and looks around.

Spider-Man: Feels weird to come back here. Last time I was here was when I got bit by the spider that gave me my powers. Now, where would Connors put his research and- Bingo!

He launches himself off the webline and lands in front of Dr. Connor's computer. He turns it on, but sees it's password protected. He looks around for clues on the password until he sees a picture of Dr. Connors holding Billy when he was born and starts typing in "Billy" into it as the computer opens up as Spider-Man looks through Connors's files until he finds the other half of the research and reads them and the chemical equations.

Spider-Man: Alright Parker, time to use that big brain you claim to have and save the life of a loving husband and father.

Spider-Man gets to work on an antidote to the lizard serum using his high school scene nerd knowledge. When he finishes, he wipes his forehead and holds up the vial.

Spider-Man: There now to find Connors before anything goes-

Spider-Man's Spider-Sense tingles and he puts the vial in his belt under his costume. When he turns around, he sees eyes peering at him in the shadowy darkness around the room until the Lizard jumps out and lunges at him. Spider-Man hops to the ceiling as he and Lizard lock eyes.

Spider-Man: Doc.. Curt.. Let me help you! Well, if you're in there at least.

Lizard: Connors…. Connor's weak! Only Lizard Supreme!

Spider-Man: You're using words now… Well, at least it's progress.

Lizard grabs the computer and throws it at Spider-Man. Spider-Man jumps to dodge as he lands on the desk as he launches himself and tries to deck the Lizard, but he holds his hand, realizing how tough the Lizard's scaly skin is. Lizard spins and whacks Spider-Man with his tail as it sends Spider-Man out of a window.

Spider-Man: Please hold.. Please hold.. Please hold…

Spider-Man aims his wrist with his working web shooter and shoots a webline to try to catch himself. The Lizard notices as he crawls down the wall and slashes the webline as it sends Spider-Man tumbling down and eventually crashing down a manhole cover and having the sewer water break his fall.

Spider-Man: The sewers. I hate the sewers… First a respectable scientist turned reptile busts my hand.. Now my costume is going to reek just like after I fought the Green Goblin!

Spider-Man gets up as he hears a hiss as the Lizard crawls down the manhole and across the ceiling, glaring at Spider-Man.

Lizard: After I smash you Spider-Mammal… I will lead my fellow reptiles against the humans and take back the Earth as it always belonged to reptiles!

Spider-Man: Look pal, I may be a fan of the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies, But I really don't want to relive it in real life.

The Lizard roars and lunges at him once more as Spider-Man flips back. The Lizard slashes as Spider-Man dodges each strike and springboard kicks Lizard away. The Lizard keeps charging before slamming Spider-Man to the ground and grabs Spider-Man by the neck and pushes his head under the water, trying to drown him.

Spider-Man: Come on Pete, You need to break loose before you black out due to lack of.. air….

Spider-Man moves his wrist and fires webbing into Lizard's eyes, blinding him. The Lizard lets go of Spider-Man to try to free his eyes, but Spidey kicks him in the stomach and uppercuts with his good hand as the Lizard ripped the webbing away.

Spider-Man: Dr. Connors.. Fight the lizard serum! You have to remember you're a well respected biologist! You're a husband and father! Think of your wife.. Think of Billy!

Lizard: Martha… My.. wife… and Billy.. My.. son..?

The Lizard stops for a moment and holds his head, feeling a pain in his head. Spider-Man takes out the vial out of his belt.

Spider-Man: ok.. Time to force feed this to him quickly while he's mentally distracted…

Spider-Man jumps off a wall and lands on Lizard's shoulders. As Lizard tries to get him off, SPider-Man opens the vial and chugs the antidote down Lizard's mouth before Lizard throws Spider-Man against a wall as the vial gets smashed in the process.

Spider-Man: Hope it worked…

Lizard starts walking towards Spider-Man before stopping as he starts collapsing. His right arm starts to shrink back to a stub and the tail falls away as the Lizard transforms back to his human form of Dr. Connors.

Curt: Uuugh….. Spider-Man…? What happened…? Where am I..?

Spider-Man: It's okay now.. The nightmare of the Lizard is over thanks to me making an antidote using your research… Now come on, your wife and son are waiting for you.

Spider-Man puts Dr. Connors on his back as he climbs out of the sewers and swings off.

Connors Household, Later

Curt, now having a blanket draped over him embraces his wife and his baby son.

Curt: Oh.. how long I wished to embrace you and Billy again, Martha….

Martha: I know Curt… But, is it really over..?

Curt: Yes… I realized that my research is too dangerous for anyone to wield… not even me.. So I must end it before the world experiences more Lizards….

Curt looks at the folder of his research and throws it into the fireplace as it burns. He looks at the flame for a moment before turning towards Spider-Man, who was on the ceiling.

Curt: I thank you, Spider-Man. Without you, I wouldn't have been able to see my family again. I am forever in your debt. If you ever need anything, do not be afraid to visit.

Spider-Man lands down onto the window and looks back.

Spider-Man: I'll take you up on that. See ya later, Doc and have a good night.

Spider-Man shoots a webline out the window and swings off as the family watches.

Peter's Bedroom, Moments Later

Peter, wearing only the lower portion of his costume as he has the broken web shooter and the shirt of his costume on his desk as a means of repairing later as he plugs his camera into his computer as he looks at the pictures of the battle between himself and the Lizard in the subway earlier. Peter gives a smirk and presses some of the keyboard keys as he deletes them.

Peter: I'm not going to disrespect Dr. Connors by selling him out to the Bugle…. WHo needs the money right now? Helping a man get back to the arms of his loving family and be a father again is the only payment I need…

Peter turns his chair around and looks to his nightstand as he looks at a picture of himself as a kid with Uncle Ben as he smiles.

Peter: After all, It's what Uncle Ben would have done right?
