Author's note: Thanks to all my loyal readers for sticking with me this long, much appreciated.
Using canon divergence on how long it took for them to figure out to remove the sigils. Now remember the extra details I placed for the epilogue had been written and edited months ago in advance so be nice please.
Aurelie never forgot her people, she let her faith grow, and Aurelie never failed to enter the local chapel in Gravesfield every to light a candle in memory of Mrs. Stenson and her lost loved ones.
Hunter and Oziel had taken to their new life quite well. Hunter more than one family member who happily listened to him talk about his interests and supported his dreams. Oziel could now happily play with the other children in the playground or in kindergarten to his heart's content. Munchkin was his official pet and friend.
Darius still liked to take his self-care routines and Oziel and Munchkin liked to nap in the early afternoon every now and then. Hunter had more access to books of almost all kinds from Both the Isles and Earth, Aurelie went back to her hobby of making puzzles during the more calmer hours.
On an exciting note, there was something big that has been accomplished: Alador, Raine, Darius, Eberwolf with Viney, Jerbo and Emira had found a way to safely remove all the coven sigils.
It had taken the combined efforts of healing students and veterans, but they were successful. And none were more excited and happy than Aurelie and Oziel watching Hunter and Darius finally remove the coven brands.
Aurelie beamed when she saw the sigil vanish from sight, Oziel cheered and she rushed to Darius. The latter's eyes widened in alarm when she trips over a cord.
He lunged to catch his wife, who shrieked with laughter. Before Darius can scold her, Aurelie wrapped her arms around his neck to pull him into a deep kiss. Darius' eyes widen, but then slowly shut as he tenderly hugged her back, swaying side to side as they kissed.
The others either smiled, blushed and looked away, as Alador did with Hunter following suit. Emira, Cat and Viney were silently gushing. Oziel made faces in disgust, seeing as he was still young.
Aurelie and Darius broke the kiss. Then Darius focused on his hand, he formed a purple flower in his palm, one not made of abomination clay. He places it into Aurelie's hair, and kissed her forehead tenderly, stroking her belly with utmost tenderness.
Many months later, Aurelie lightly traces her fingers over her baby daughter's ears sometimes. They're a bit smaller than most witches have at that age, and naturally point upwards slightly more than natural born witches do, but the mix of human and witch genes is notable.
The little child was named Naomi – both as a portmanteau of the names of her parent's mothers AND for the name's significance to Aurelie's culture. She was a blend of both parents with her mother's original curls and smile, her father's eyes and her grandmother's hands.
Both Hunter and Oziel were fascinated with their new sibling. Aurelie and Darius had taken every precaution ahead of time to prepare them for the baby's arrival and had them more involved as a family.
For a short time they'd wondered if she was born with the bile-sac attached to her heart as all magic-using denizens in the isles. It didn't take long for them to find out when Naomi was almost a year old.
Aurelie had been overdoing things so they encouraged her to join a luncheon with her extended family on Earth while they handled things for the day.
She somehow kept escaping her crib to watch the crystal ball. Naomi had shown off her abilities to create little abomination animals and shaking jingle bells that created sound waves while fighting a crow-rat, to the awe of her father and brothers. Finally they pulled the baby away from the beast, speculating that he's had enough.
"You! Have! POWERS! Yeah, baby!" Hunter said in amazement.
"She scared away the trash digger!" Oziel was jumping up in down.
"And there's not a scratch on you! Did you open the locked door?" Darius said holding up his daughter. "Are THOSE your powers? Who can make tiny abominations and climb out... windows..." He trails off.
There was alook of dawning horror on both Darius and Hunter's face as it sinks inwhat this means for them while Naomi is still an meant that she can get into all sorts of trouble and more.
"Oh, Titan..." Darius groaned. Hunter winced with worry.
Oziel is confused. "What?"
Four years later
I kept my word. For as you've probably deduced, my family and I never returned to Salzburg. No, while most of them resided in Gravesfield and other areas, I myself settled down in the Titan's domain.
Vee and Luz have already graduated, the latter would be attending college in the Boling Isles, ambitiously choosing all the majors at her new school—the 'University of Wild Magic'. Vee and Masha were dating, whether they knew about Vee's secret was not yet disclosed.
Incidentally the house has been purchased by the Noceda family, and remodeled again, this time to serve as the location of a permanent portal courtesy of the Collector. This helped the Weinbergs to visit Aurelie and the rest whenever they can.
Willow intended to play professional flyer derby. Lilith and Hooty have taken up architecture, also Lilith has already mastered her curse and is able to take on a harpy form like her sister. Amity has become proficient in Abomination engineering.
In the chest area of the Isles, where the castle used to be, in its place is now is the University of Wild Magic, run by Eda as the headmistress. Gus is one of the teachers, where students can learn the diverse cultures of the human realm and more.
We surprised Luz with a King-ceañera so to speak. Seeing as she spent her 15th, 16th, and 17th birthdays helping rebuild the Isles.
King then thrilled Luz by sketching a different version of the light glyph and summoning light. He had acquired the ability to empower the glyphs again, creating a new language of glyph magic for Luz to master.
Darius' family had owned an orchard that had been replenished and now it was flourishing as a source of income. And after much talk with the rest, The Collector even agreed. The Archives had become a museum dedicated to the past, to Aurelie's people's history and a memorial to those gone.
Although as a way to let their children be free to make their own choices regarding faith and other subjects, they raised them casually in that regards and with plenty reading material from the Human realm. Not that it entirely mattered, Hunter had taken to the Weinberg family as well as Oziel. More often than not they celebrated Jewish holidays together, as a way so that Aurelie can make up for lost time with her brother and sister.
Hunter had opted to keep an open mind to his Aunt's culture as a scholar, while continuing to pursue his craft in palisman carving and replanting palistrom trees as a way to undo the damage Belos had done to the Isles. He now happily joins Dell in carving and giving palismans for others. In time, he'd carved a blue jay palisman he named Waffles in honor of his late friend Flapjack.
Despite having no such talent for the biological nor unconventional magic of the Isles, Aurelie had been given a palisman for transport and more. A grizzly bear she decided to name Esther. Darius had been given a lioness palisman he named Jael.
Oziel, liked magic well enough, however with the new glyphs, he either learned them and forgot them; or, if he remembered them, he mixed them up. King and Luz personally took it upon themselves to continue aiding Oziel. Nevertheless, Aurelie's son held the same candid love for the animal kingdom since infancy, so he took up beast-keeping, with a minor in Bard. In his late teens, Oziel became a Messianic Jew in faith by personal choice, while continuing his mother's cultural traditions. His faith had inspired him to study the local wildlife, determinedly intending to preserve the natural beasts and birds that shared the Isles with the inhabitants. His palisman is a European robin he named Levi.
Munchkin would live to a ripe old age, he peacefully passed on when Oziel was seventeen but leaving behind his son, who Oziel dubbed Hobbit.
Aurelie and Darius' daughter, Naomi, while demonstrating a talent for music, was an altruistic activist by nature and continued researching the historical aspects of her mother's nation. Her palisman was a hummingbird she named Yoshebelle.
However several things did not change: every Yom Hashoah, they release homemade lanterns with yellow candles into the sky to commemorate all those lost in the Holocaust and to Belos' deceased victims. And they would always scramble for the dining table every Pesach and Channukah, having developed a taste for the annual meals and/or treats.
I look back and I now see the hand in every detail, how so many moments were shaped for the present. Now we are living happier times together, I've got my greatest dream: to have a family once again.
Contrary to what many believe, Luz, Eda, Hunter, my Oziel and I were meant to be here… for such a time as this.
The end
Author's note: And there you have it. The Happy ending, the grand finale. Hoping to write another fanfic or two after I finish my Rapunzel retelling on DeviantART, probably one based on the Never ending story animated series with a new OC or perhaps write my Wingfeather saga isekai fanfiction… that is once I get round to reading the second book and once the second season comes out.
