Early before the sun rose Beatrice and Roy woke up so she could sneak out before Roy's parents found out. Roy opened the window so Beatrice could get out.
"So where will you go?" Roy asked.
"You'll find out." Beatrice said before leaving.
Soon the weekend passed and Roy went to school again. Roy looked around but Beatrice wasn't anywhere around. Soon Garrett approached him.
"Dude, you're never gonna believe it." Said Garrett.
"What?" Asked Roy.
"Dana was arrested." Garrett told him.
"What? When? Where?" Roy asked.
"At that construction sight." Said Garrett.
"Mother Paula's?" Said Roy.
"Yeah." Said Garrett.
Roy was astounded. "What he do?"
"They just caught him trespassing." Garrett told him. Soon the bell for class rang and they left. Throughout the day Roy kept looking for Beatrice but she was no where to be seen. At lunch Roy approached the soccer girls and asked them. They told him that she was at the doctors because she fell down the stairs, but Roy didn't believe it.
After school ended Roy decided to stop by the boatyard looked around, but neither Beatrice or Mullet was around. He started to get worried. Roy didn't know what else to do or where else to go, so he decided to head home for now.
The next day Roy got ready for school as soon as he ate his breakfast, he packed his stuff and left. But instead he went a little early so he could run all the way to Beatrice's house and waited there, no one else was around. He didn't have to worry about Lonna or Leon because they were both gone. Soon Beatrice came out of her house and Roy ran up to her faster before she even noticed him. Roy began blabbing a bunch of questions.
"What happened to you yesterday? Where were you? Where's Mullet? Did you really fall down the stairs? Are you-" She slapped a hand over his mouth.
"Take it easy cowgirl. Don't go crazy." Beatrice told Roy. "Let's go wait for the bus, we'll talk on the way and I'll explain everything." She removed her hand from Roy's mouth.
"So what's going on?" He said.
"Sorry, If I got you all freaked out." Said Beatrice. "Here's the truth." She told the hole story.
"I didn't fall down the stairs, I faked a call so I could ditch school" Beatrice said.
"Why?" Roy asked.
"I needed some time off." She said.
"Need a place to hide out?" Roy asked.
"No, I found a new lair." She said.
"Where?" Roy asked.
"Can't say." She told him. "But tomorrow, wanna go try to find Mullet?"
"I'm in." Roy said.
So the next day both Roy and Beatrice went to find Mullet.
"It's not like him to disappear, he must be up to something." Beatrice told Roy as they walked.
"Don't worry, we'll find him." Roy assured. Suddenly something fell from the sky, startling them. They looked up to see Mullet coming down from a tree.
They laughed. "You jerk." Beatrice said.
"What is that thing?" Roy asked.
"It's a bulldozer seat." Answered Mullet.
"What are you doing with it?" Beatrice asked.
"Can't drive a bulldozer without a seat Bea." He told her.
"Don't tell me you stole it." Roy said.
"You're gonna love this." Mullet told him. "C'mon I'll show you." Roy and Beatrice laughed as they followed him.
He brought them to the construction sight and Curly had just noticed the missing seat.
"No, you gotta be kidding me." Curly said to himself. The kids snuck in closer.
"What am I gonna tell Mr. Muckle?" He said.
Suddenly Muckle appeared out of nowhere.
"You can start by telling me why I shouldn't fire you." He said.
"Mr. Muckle, wasn't expecting you until tomorrow." Curly told him.
"Yes I came a day early, I'm gonna be sticking a shovel into that ceremony tomorrow, and I want no trouble." He said. Unknown to either of them, the kids were behind the bulldozer listening.
Suddenly Muckle noticed one of the owls in a hole.
"Change of plans." He said. "We're bulldozing, today."
"Today?" Said Beatrice.
"Shh." Said Roy placing his hand over her mouth, telling her to be quiet. "We can't let them know we're here."
"Today?" Asked Curly.
"This is clearly something I couldn't trust you to handle unsupervised." Muckle said.
"But today, is gonna be difficult." Curly tried to reason.
"Why?"
"Well, sir somebody took the bulldozer seat." He told him.
"How fast can you get a new seat?" Muckle asked.
"Guess I could go get one at Fort Meyer." Said Curly.
"Go, and get Miss Nixon from the hotel and tell her to get dressed, I'll make sure nothing else happens." Muckle said. "And don't tell anyone about this."
Curly was about to leave but stopped. "Mr. Muckle-" But Chuck didn't wanna hear it. "Get going!" He yelled. Curly didn't needed to be told twice.
The kids soon snuck away undetected.
Meanwhile at the jail, Delinko was interrogating Dana.
"So you've had some time to think about your situation?" Delinko asked.
"Don't need to think." Said Dana.
"Did you spray paint my car windows, or how about the gators in the toilet?" Delinko asked him.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." He said.
"Alright no more nice interrogation." Said Delinko. "I actually got you something."
"What?" Asked Dana.
"This little guy." Delinko pulled out a juvenile aligator.
Dana panicked. "Get it away!"
"Alright Dana you passed the lie detector test." Said Delinko "Crude but effective."
Back at the boatyard the kids were discussing.
"Today I can't believe this." Mullet said.
"We have to do something." Said Beatrice.
"Like what?" Asked Roy.
"Well first I'm gonna hotwire Muckle's bulldozer, then I'm gonna hook it up to the trailer-" Mullet started.
"Wait a minute." Said Roy.
"That's crazy." Beatrice told him.
"I'll drive it to the edge of the canal, put a brick on the gas petal and release the emergency break." Mullet told them.
"You can't do that." Said Roy.
"It'll sink like a rock." Mullet told them. "That'll give me time to come up with something that'll really freak them out."
"No way!" Roy shouted.
"You'll slow them down, but you won't stop them." Beatrice told him.
"Plus you'll end up in jail, and no one will wanna hear the truth." Roy said.
Mullet sat down with them.
"We're the only ones who care." Mullet said.
"We're the only ones who know." Roy told him. "We gotta let the town know what Muckle's up to and stop him."
"That's what we've been trying to do." Beatrice explained.
"No one here gives a dang." Mullet said. "They're all too excited about having a stupid pancake house."
"Look I have an idea." Roy revealed. "If it doesn't work you're gonna do what you have to do. But can we at least try it my way first?"
Mullet looked at Beatrice. "It's worth a shot." She said.
"So what's the plan?" Mullet asked.
"Here's what we're gonna do." Roy began to explain.
