A clang clang clang sound echoed in the hallways of the Hellicarrier as the great Nick Fury walked by. He looked almost the same. The little difference was that he was limping and a walking stick had been added to his usual signature look of knee length black-leather long-sleeves trench coat and black-leather eye patch.

The limp would have made him less intimidating if his walking stick was not suspiciously shaped like a rifle and made of metal. Most of the agents keeping out of his way would not be surprised if it was indeed a rifle so they made sure to stay well away from him.

Fury opened the door to his office and saw Maria Hill and Coulson waiting there for him.

This was his first time seeing Coulson since his accident months ago from that freak island bomb blast. Luckily the Hellicarrier was not destroyed and was only forced away by the kinetic momentum of the explosion. Fury resumed work days later even if he did it wearing a cast and a neck brace.

This morning Coulson called and said Fury should come to work earlier than usual because he had news on Potter.

"Coulson, what did you find out about Potter?" The Director of SHIELD asked immediately he shut the door, not one to waste time. He moved to his office chair and pushed himself into it then he placed his walking stick on the table.

Coulson went straight to the point. "Potter is not dead like we have been assuming. In fact Potter's being busy," he said dropping a folder on Fury's desk.

Fury picked it up and started going through it. He saw pictures of Potter standing in front of a building that had a logo that read EMPIRE HOLDINGS. He saw photos of Potter and Everett K. Ross he even saw some photos of Potter and Janice Lincoln. The last one surprised Fury the most. What was Potter doing with the daughter of Tombstone.

Tombstone was rumoured to be connected to the Maggia and they knew now that Maggia joined AIM to plan Potter's abduction. They found out when Hammerhead killed some policemen while escaping Westminster and he was later seen in New York weeks later with the new head of AIM, MODOK.

Perhaps Janice helped Potter escape and decided to stick by him. Fury tried not to make assumptions till he had concrete information. He read what Coulson wrote and added to the folder and as he read more he kept cursing inside him. "So his abduction made Potter understand the importance of influence and power," Fury said to his two colleagues.

"I don't think so," Hill said, sitting up on her chair. "All this work does not look like something he started months ago. It might have been something he started planning when he graduated. His kidnap only hastened things for him."

"That he managed to keep all of this quiet till now is disturbing," Fury worried. "Do we know how he escaped from AIM and if Janice Lincoln had anything to do with it?"

"We don't know anything about that or how long Miss Lincoln's been working for him," Phil sadly admitted. "Director Carter told me that she also was not aware of Potter's plans and operations. She told me something else too that I knew nothing about."

"What is it?" Fury queried staring at Coulson. Maria was also looking at him curiously.

"A business empire is not the only thing Potter is building. He plans to build a micro city in the future. He bought a real estate by the Thames in Richmond from a British noble family and he has already evacuated everyone from the estate. The agents I sent there couldn't enter the place because Potter has about twenty robots guarding it but according to the agents there is no sign of ongoing construction work in there so we can safely assume that this micro city is not going to be built in years even if Potter have already change the name of the estate to Empire City."

Phil paused and looked from Fury to Hill. "The troubling thing is not this micro city, Carter told me about, but that Potter registered a private intelligence agency with the British government for this city. And they agreed to register it because signed a weapons deal with them and his Dynast Enterprise."

"You want to tell me that Potter now own his own spy organisation," Fury said almost shivering as he thought of what such an intelligent boy could do with his own covert group.

"On paper it's Empire City's but we all know that Potter owns Empire City," Coulson explained. "Potter named it EMPIRES; Empire's Management of Paramount Intelligence and Regulated Espionage Services. It is also a kind of private army because it's not only registered as a private intelligence agency but also a private security service."

Fury kept quiet for a long time, wondering what Hadrian Potter was playing at. Someone can't just do all this for no reason. Was it because of trauma from his abduction. From the records they had of Potter they knew that he'd never suffered from PTSD. But that could have changed, who knew what AIM did to the boy.

Fury wanted to withdraw all SHIELD's interest in recruiting the boy but he couldn't do that relying on half info. He'll wait first and continue watching Potter. His drive and capabilities were awe-inspiring. He would be a very good asset if they could recruit him. Especially with the disturbing news that was coming out of the Wizarding world recently.

It hadn't been hard for Fury to subscribe to the Daily Prophet. It was more of a tabloid than anything Fury had ever seen even J. J. Jameson's Daily Bugle, but it provided Fury with information no matter how twisted said information was. Fury had always known how to read in between the lines anyway. The things he read though made him worried.

The magicals found out that it was a Muggle weapon that destroyed their prison —and wasn't that a shocking discovery that the island he saw get destroyed was the infamous Azkaban— and the pureblood extremists were calling for war against the muggle government.

Fury heard that the UK Prime Minister had a meeting with the Minister of Magic and explained things to him but the magic minister called him a liar and insulated him before rudely apparating away.

The situation was becoming more serious and all that was needed was for the purebloods to gain a figurehead and both worlds will come to blows. With Black still running around freely that could be possible so Fury will admit that he needed Potter and his Magic-proof techs.

"Do you know who the Director of this EMPIRES is?" Fury asked, getting out of his thoughts and interrupting the conversation Maria Hill and Coulson were having.

"A man who's public identity is faker than Sharon Carter's Stella Rimington. He goes by the name Mr. Canis M. Noir," Coulson answered, earning a frown from his boss, a frown that wasn't directed at him.

"Are you heading back to the UK?" Fury asked the good agent.

"No," Coulson replied. "I left Agent Drew with the team you assigned to watch Potter. They have everything under control I assure you."

"I will take your word for that," Fury acquiesced. "There is a situation involving AIM in California. You will be heading there once we are done with this meeting. Agent Hill, I will be sending you to England. You will meet up with Potter and set up a secret meeting for both of us."

"You want to have a meeting with Potter," Hill enquired in surprise.

Fury gave her nod. "I should have done it since but was waiting for him to come of age. He is still a boy, emancipation or not he lacks experience. I can't wait anymore now. Soon enough Potter will become really big and influential and I want to meet with him before that ever happens."

Fury gave no more reasons and after that they talked about some extra SHIELD issues before the team split up. Coulson went to prepare for his journey to the west coast and Hill left to continue her day's work. Fury began his own work of reading reports and assigning duties.

In a bank in an avenue in London, two masked men held everyone on gun point while a third one forced the bank workers to gather all the money.

"Hurry up!" the third thief shouted at a slow female worker whom's hands shook as she gathered the money. "We need to get out of here quickly. If I hear any sound of police sirens I'll fucking your brains."

"You are not a British gentle man," an altered voice said behind him.

The thief gently turned around and met a strange sight. A man stood before him dresses as a knight. He was wearing a black skintight strange metal armour that protected every part of his body. It was like he had a second skin made of metal. Even his hands were fitted with gauntlets made of the strange metal the rest of the armour was made of. He wondered how the man had been able to silently appear behind him without all this metal announcing him. He wore a black long cloak that swept the floor and looked to be as thick as leather but moved like silk when the armoured knight stepped forward. He understood then how the man had been able to keep his presence quiet, the strange metal made no sound.

The thief's eyes met the only part of the knight's body that wasn't armoured, his eyes. He took an involuntary step back when his eyes looked into the black emptiness that was this knight's eyes. Before he could speak the knight struck. One quick blow and he was knocked out.

By now everyone had noticed the new arrival. Watching him take down their partner, the other thieves opened fire on him. The knight jumped up to the cashier's desk and leapt away to avoid the bullets. He did some impressive acrobatics to keep avoiding the bullets and even pulled some hostages out of the way.

Somehow, with this somewhat entertaining showmanship, this knight maneuvered his way to the side of the second thief and landed a kick on his forehead then he picked up the thief's gun and used it to shoot the last thief on the leg. The last thief dropped his gun and grabbed his leg.

The knight went to him and used the butt of the gun he held to take him out. The knight dropped the gun and gathered the three thieves together. He used a duck tape to wrap them up just as the police arrived.

He picked up the three wrapped up men and threw them to land front of the police. Everyone watched as the bundle hit the floor. There were sounds of broken broken bones that startled many in the bank. When the former hostages and the police looked away from the bundle of thieves they saw that the strange knight was gone. He disappeared during the distraction he caused. There was no sign of his exit, it was like he was never there.

AN:

That's it for chapter ten. I'm certain most of you already know the identity of the mystery knight. And for those of you who don't... well, you will be finding out soon.

Now I want to give a lot of thanks for the comments and support, you guys have done really great and I'm very much grateful.

For those of you who will like to see more of my fics, visit my profile for my published fics and checkout HARRY POTTER AND THE CYBERPUNK LIFE.

Whoops! Things are about the heat up for young Harry in that fic.

For those of you that do check it out, please don't be disappointed with the slow update. Asides my tight schedule, I focus more energy and time into that fic than this one. That's why that one may seem a bit more polished than this. Also I wrote HPSA a long time ago, when I was merely an average writer, and Cyberpunk Life is an ongoing work.

Alright, enough of that. See you next in chapter eleven.
