04. Soulmates

Yuta let out a long and heavy sigh as he walked next to his friends.
Those guys had long since left that restaurant and now they were walking through the endless streets of Kyoto, very close to the center where the modern and the traditional are divided into thousands of shops for tourists and fashion stores.
That boy's hands were still holding that glasses case
He still had the hope of running into that girl on one of those many streets... Do coincidences exist?
Well they say that Kyoto is a small world and you never know who you will meet around the corner
"Will I see her again? Where will she be? What will her name be?
There were some questions that were going through his mind at that moment, while his chest rose and fell in a sigh that only a lover releases before the illusion of seeing his loved one again.
"And that sigh, Romeo?" Aoi asked noticing her partner's mood. "Are you still thinking about that girl from the restaurant?"
"EH?! Than! No... I just..." Yuta didn't know how to answer that
Aoi laughed a little, shrugging her shoulders and puffing out her chest in happiness as if she knew about it.
"You don't have to explain anything to me, I hope that one day you can see her again, especially if she's your type of girl." He put his big arm around his friend's neck.
"I don't know if that's possible..." Yuta commented trying to get out of that big man's hands
"Everything is possible in this life, especially when fate wants it that way, it always takes care of uniting those who are destined to be together"—Aoi commented happily —"It's like me with my beloved Takada, fate rewarded me with what she will come to give a concert to the city"
Yuta hit Aoi's arm a little to get his to let go.
"Yeah, what luck..." Yuta blurted out with the little breath he had left.
"Although you're not going to get attached to her so quickly either..." He began to attract her attention.
"Remember that you're also with Rika and you can't do this to her, don't you remember? That girl had you hanging from a wing a while ago" Aoi commented, releasing it happily, causing it to fall to the ground.
Cough— "Look... whoever gave it" — cough— Yuta released rubbing his neck
"Even so, I feel that I've seen that mysterious girl's face before" Aoi said again, trying to remember "I think she's the daughter of a military from a prestigious clan... but I can't remember which one at this time" he said is holding his hand to his chin
"Military?!" Yuta said surprised by that answer
"Hey! Hurry up!" Itadori shouted waving his hand
"WE ARE GO!" Aoi yelled at them "Come on Yuta, let's go buy Rika and Takada-chan a present!" He commented happily moving forward.
Instead, Yuta sighed as he carefully got up and picked up that case from the ground.
He shook it delicately, he had to take good care of it... perhaps that object would become a precious memory of that mysterious girl who had conquered his heart in case he never saw her again
And when he was about to take another step towards where his friends were, something made him look towards the glass of that clothing store where they had stopped.
He dared to look at himself slightly in that reflection and that was when his heart almost jumped out of his chest.
Yuta blink a few times
He hoped his eyes weren't deceiving him...
In there, between the shelves, he thought he had seen that girl he so wanted to see again.
He felt his heart beat too fast in surprise.
"Is it her?" he wondered when he noticed how that girl seemed to be looking for some item of clothing among the shelves
His cowardice was turning into courage to go in and get close to her.
He wanted to say "hello" kindly, return that glasses case to him, and finally know his name.
But, if that girl behind the glass didn't turn out to be the one for whom his heart really began to beat, he could only apologize and say that he mistook her for someone else.
He was ready and determined, but the voice of his friends rushing him, pulled him out of that illusion.
"Yuta! Run!" Itadori shouted
That made Yuta turn to see them "I'm coming!" He answer
"Huh?" but when he returned his gaze to the glass, that female was no longer there.
"Yuta!" Hurry up!" Aoi yelled annoyed. "Bring your butt right now or I'll come for you!"
"I'm coming!" Yuta shouted confused
Had his eyes deceived him? Where had that girl gone? Was she hallucinating herself?
That girl was no longer there...
"Should I go in to look for it?" he asked himself cowardly, looking at that glasses case.
"Yuta!" His friends shouted in unison.
"I'm coming!" The poor boy put that case back in his pockets and ran to his friends.
What he didn't know is that he was right... inside that store was the girl from that restaurant, the girl of his dreams...
That green-haired girl just walked from one side to the other inside that store while the others chose the clothes
"How about this one? I think this color would suit both of us very well at the party" Mai commented, holding a beautiful long white dress in her hands.
"I say that they will fit very well" Momo commented
"You'll both look so pretty in that!" Miwa replied with a smile
"We could also choose something similar to combine all of them" Opino Nobara
But there was only one girl who disagreed
"Agh!" Does all this shit really encourage you?" Maki answered with her arms crossed and with a tone of voice that betrayed total annoyance
"Yes of course!" Answered her sister smiling and showing her that dress of hers, moving it from one side to the other in front of her face
"This one will suit both of us very well, don't you think so, Maki? Do you want it in black or white? Because later I don't want to be sharing it with you" Mai bothered her older sister with that garment
Maki rolled her eyes. "Do what you want."
"Don't be so 'bitter, little sister' this party sounds like it's going to be fun and who knows... maybe you'll finally find love, you need a boyfriend to take away that bad modo" Mai muttered those words while moving flirtatiously with that dress, putting it on her clothes
Maki couldn't take it anymore and exploded, those words bothered her a lot
"Mai, you're seriously stupid?!" What don't you see?!" Maki take a part of the dress with annoyance, pulling her sister a little
"This devious party is just to display us like merchandise to those morons who see more for the interest of their fucking clans! Seriously, I'm beginning to hate all of this with all my soul... I hate this family and their stupid traditions" Maki commented, dropping that garment and walking to the opposite side.
"Also! Who wants to wear a stupid mask and a long dress in the middle of summer?" she blurted out annoyed.
Hers twin sister only narrowed her eyes. "I want to, idiot!" Mai she moved her hands angrily
All the others just kept silent and looked back and forth as the twins argued with each other.
"Maybe YOU don't want a husband or know anything about this, but unlike you, I do want this!" Mai look furiously at her sister and moved her hands desperately
"Besides, I'm glad that our damn family is finally doing something FOR US!" Mai shouted. "Above all, our mother is doing this FOR US!" SHE IS ONLY LOOKING FOR OUR WELL-BEING AND HAPPINESS!"
"Well-being and happiness... yes of course..." Maki huffed, crossing her arms
Both twins looked at each other, their faces reflected too much annoyance against each other
Since they were girls, their opinions were always divided, the older one wanting freedom and the younger one seeking comfort and family approval.
"Please Maki..." Her voice trailed off. "Do it for me even once... and for our tired mother" Mai begged without stopping to look into her eyes.
Mai's eyes showed too much sadness to talk about that topic
Mai just wanted to live a peaceful life and although she knew that her entire clan was a bunch of unscrupulous people, she could at least live peacefully if she pleased them somehow.
Maki sighed heavily, she knew that she would never win against her sister or her mother in that topic that she had been listening to all her life.
"Ugh! Ok! I'll wear this stupid dress! But I ask for this one in black!" She commented averting her gaze
Maki didn't have the mood to argue any more about that stupid question
"Thanks big sister! Miss, I want this same model but in black!" Mai said with a satisfied smile and ordering whoever served them to bring them more expensive clothes and accessories
Mai's words about "finding love" rang in Maki's head.
She had never been in love and the idea that they were looking for a husband irritated her too much... at least she wanted to choose who to love
While he was distracted by those shelves, trying to find some garment that he ended up liking, his instinct made him look towards the large window that faced the street.
That's when something caught the attention of this green girl...
She thought she saw that shy boy with black hair who had also been in that restaurant a while ago next to the big happy mouth
"Kyoto is really very small" Maki thought for a moment
She look at him carefully... there was something in that black-haired man that caught his attention and more than never he had ever seen before in that small city
"Is it a foreigner?" She wondered internally
Maki smiled a little, while analyzing the movements made by that boy who got up from the ground.
The one who had caught her attention and who was only a few steps away from her and only a glass separated them...
Her heart was beating rapidly, she had never felt emotion like this and less for someone she did not know
And when she was about to approach the glass to take a closer look, that girl was pulled roughly.
"MAKI, I'M TALKING TO YOU! WHAT ACCESSORIES WOULD YOU LIKE THE MOST?!" Shouted her sister in her ear, pulling her out of that trance
Mai shook her a little and dragged her to where the others were.
While outside, Yuta just ran to where his friends were…
The following minutes were eternal for the older of the twins
Flattering comments every time I left that fitting room modeling those clothes
Dresses, accessories and heels... that was repeated several times... dresses, accessories and heels once again
There was a time when Maki couldn't stand all that anymore...
Maki take her shoes, ready to get out of there
"Where are you going?" Mai asked looking at how her sister took her bag.
"I'll go for a walk and buy some junk food like fries or a hamburger, the first thing that comes my way!" She said, tying her hair again "I've had enough of seeing so many clothes!"
Mai just rolled her eyes "Okay, don't go so far, it would be bad if you ran into a servant or someone from the 'Gojo' clan" she said looking at her from the mirror
"I know how to take care of myself, don't worry about it" Maki finished arranging her clothes and hair"I can defend myself perfectly and I could even give them what they deserve with my fists if necessary..." She raise her eyebrows a Little "There's a reason I'm the strong of the two. Do you forget? I was born before you!" Maki boasted with a big smile
It was true, since they were born, Maki showed more resistance and strength than her sister and knew how to defend herself perfectly without help.
Skills that would have been praised and rewarded by his family if he had only been born a boy
Mai pursed her lips "Just don't take too long, dad will send someone for us to take us home, do you understand, Idiot?" she commented putting a cute brooch in her hair
"Yeah, whatever, I also know the way home by myself, don't worry! I don't need a ride!" she said with a shrug "I'll be right back! And if not, I'll see you at home!" Maki said leaving that store
Mai just snorted at her older sister's attitude... she just hoped Maki wouldn't get in trouble.
But fate loves that word... especially for the discouraged and for people who seek happiness or freedom
"What do you think of this one for Rika?" Yuta asked, showing a small ring accompanied by some earrings.
"Are you going to propose to her now?" Itadori asked curiously.
"It's not that..." Yuta answered nervously as he gently scratched his cheek "What's happening is that his birthday is coming up and well... I want to give him something nice and special, it would be more like a promise ring"
"Oh Man!, if you give her that, she'll think that you already want to marry her" Panda said sincerely.
"Salmon!" Toge said.
"And it would be very cruel of you to delude her with something like that" Aoi reproached
Yuta sighed in discouragement "Okay, I'll think about what else I can give him"
He felt that he was doing it more out of "obligation" than out of sincerity at that moment, since Aoi's words did not come out of his head
Which of those two girls should he choose? Why was her heart in conflict?
Those friends were going from store to store
Both enjoying the outing and searching in vain for that perfect gift for that brown-haired girl
Yuta wanted to give up with everything...
He couldn't stop thinking about that mysterious green-haired girl
"What was wrong with my heart? Why was im hesitating? Why was me hell-bent on finding her?" He mentally questioned himself.
Maybe he should just give up looking for that girl with glasses and focus on Rika... maybe he should just go on with his life as everyone expected it to be from now on... maybe he should just go home
But as Aoi said, fate likes to bring people together and play with them at the same time...
Those young people had given up on finding the perfect gift for Rika.
So they better decided to enter a game room
While Itadori and Aoi competed with each other to see who could get the most stuffed animals out of those typical machines
Yuta was looking at some items from the prize racks.
He went down slightly to look at those collectible figurines in more detail and when he got back up his eyes widened.
Outside that store and at that very moment, the mysterious girl with green hair and glasses that he wanted to see again so much, was also looking at that same shelf.
Maki also widened her eyes when she saw that boy through the glass.
It was the second time he had run into him that afternoon.
They both felt the blood rush to their faces from that unexpected reunion and they could even swear that their hearts trembled slightly in surprise.
Yuta opened his mouth but nothing came out of his throat, he was at a loss for words... he was petrified, his body did not respond to him again
Maki only raised an eyebrow when she saw his astonished face and gave him a slight smile, it was time to go from there while she continued eating that hamburger that moments ago she had bought
So that girl slightly tilted her head, said goodbye with a polite smile and left there without further ado.
"Wait..." came out of Yuta's mouth as he mistakenly crashed against that glass of the store, in his despair he forgot that that divided them
It was useless, that girl did not hear those words and just as she appeared, she disappeared without further ado.
"I'll be right back guys!" Yuta said rubbing his forehead and looking for the exit
"Hey, where are you going?" Itadori asked.
"I'll be back! I have to go get something!" Yuta commented in a hurry
"Careful!" Itadori shouted.
"Don't stray too far, remember you're new to this city!" Panda yelled. "You could get lost!"
"Tuna!" Toge said
"Above all, stay away from the zenin and their servants!" Aoi said but it was useless
Yuta had already left there to catch up with that girl.

Yuta left that store in a hurry, with his eyes he quickly looked for that girl
He look to the left, but he couldn't distinguish her among that sea of people
Then he look to the right and there several meters ahead, she was going in a hurry and with great agility among the people who came and went
"WAIT!" Yuta shouted but the noise from the street made his voice smaller.
So, armed with courage, he went after her, walking quickly against the sea of people on those Kyoto streets.
Maki seemed to know the place very well, as she moved with great agility.
She turned first to the right and then to the left, beginning to get lost among those traditional streets of Kyoto, very close to the geisha area.
Yuta was after her, trying to keep up with her.
He turn left and right in the same direction...
The poor guy sighed when he saw that he had lost sight of her again and now he had ended up in a small square surrounded by a large traditional garden.
"I think I lost it again... and by the way I have also lost myself in this alley" he blurted out discouragedly "Maybe if I go this way ..."
But the following left him baffled
As he turned around the corner where he was going to get out of there, a blow to the face stopped him, causing him to fall heavily to the ground.
He didn't even have time to react while rubbing his nose —OUCH!—
"Are you following me? It was already very strange for me to see you twice on my way" asked Maki ready to hit Yuta, who was lying on the ground
"It's not what it seems! Let me explain!" Yuta yelled as he looked at that girl from the ground "PLEASE!" He waved his hands desperately
"I wonder what you are, ally or enemy?" she commented with a smile and her fist at the ready. "Why were you following me? I wants Answers!"
"I do not know what are you talking about! And well... Me!" Yuta swallowed as he focused his gaze on that girl who, even against the light and upset, looked very beautiful
"You're very pretty..." he answered with his cheeks slightly blushing.
"What?!" Maki blurted out annoyed and with her fist very close to his face.
"Wait, I didn't mean that!" Me!" Yuta quickly took that glasses case out of his pocket "I was following you to return this to you..." he shyly blurted out
Maki opened her eyes wide when she saw that case, she quickly searched her bag while Yuta continued talking and showing that accessory
"You... you forgot it in the restaurant..." he said with a shy smile "Well... I just wanted to return it to you"
Maki carefully took her glasses case, she felt bad for having hit it.
Yuta sat up carefully while rubbing his nose "That really hurt..."
"I guess I owe you an apology" Maki said taking pity on that boy and bending down to squat in front of him "I'm used to being alert"
"I really didn't mean for you to believe something bad about me" Yuta commented with a slight smile.
"Okay, I guess I'll owe you one for this" Maki commented moving that case to put it away "Thank you very much for giving it back to me" she commented with a slight smile
"There's nothing to be thankful for... on the contrary, I'm glad to see you again," Yuta answered with a pleasant smile.
That made Maki blush a little.
"Why did that boy look so good even after he hit him?" Why would he have told her that she was pretty? Had the blow affected him?" She swallowed as she continued to feel strange before that boy—"Why is my heart beating so fast? Why am I getting lost in his gaze?" — She mentally questioned
Their eyes met again as it had happened in that restaurant... there was something in the atmosphere that made that first meeting feel very friendly
Maki's hand stopped a few centimeters from Yuta's face, which, carefully wiped his nose and cheek as it felt as if blood was dripping from him... but luckily it wasn't.
That girl's hand rested on that boy's injured cheek... his eyes kept staring at each other
Her chest swelled and her breath came out in a long sigh like it had never left her before... Was that longing? Was she experiencing love at first sight?
Yuta couldn't stop thinking that that girl, despite being very rude and strong... was very pretty... even for a moment he completely forgot about Rika
Is this what they call love at first sight?

They both felt a strange connection, as if they had known each other for a long time and were destined to meet again.
Both young people had slightly flushed faces, their smiles were slight... shy as it always is the first time
It was a strange emotion that you don't experience with just anyone.
The eyes of both reflected the other... and words were not necessary at that moment to express what they felt
Is this what they call finding your soul mate?
Yuta felt his heart beat with joy, it was not the most common way to meet a girl but he liked it that way
Maki couldn't stop looking at him either, there was something hypnotic in that boy's way of being that made him nice
She even felt her heart beating very fast, she felt nervous like never before since it was the first time that had happened to her and more with a boy
Her conscience screamed "What is happening to you? It could be dangerous!"
The poor girl shook her head and she better get up from there... Does she feel those corny things about love?
"Let... let me help you get up" Maki said extending her hand.
"Thank you" Yuta said kindly.
When he got up, due to his weight, he unintentionally pulled her, leaving both of them very close to each other...
That made Maki very red, who, looking closely at his eyes, had not seen a blue as dark as his... I looked at his lips... he had something that made him very attractive
Instead, Yuta was able to observe her cute and delicate face... she really was very beautiful and that was when his heart ended up being completely crushed by that girl.
Maki's eyes widened, she felt like her heart was going to beat out of her chest, so she took a few steps back... What the hell was wrong with her?!
She take a deep breath to calm down.
"And what's your name?" Maki asked watching him remove the dirt from his clothes. "I've never seen you here in Kyoto."
That question made Yuta uncomfortable, since at that moment, he remembered the words of his cousin Satoru
"For nothing in the world, say your last name on the street, you don't know who might try to assassinate you if they find out that you belong to this prestigious family... luckily no one knows you yet"
"Well, if I'm new here in Kyoto actually..." Yuta scratch the back of his neck.
"Aja, and what's your name?" Maki asked again.
"My... My name?" he swallow saliva. "Why do you want to know that?" Yuta asked nervously.
"Yes, your name!" Maki answered with her arms crossed "Perhaps to know who I should thank for having returned my glasses case"
"Well..." Yuta hesitated a bit. "If I tell you my last name, I could get in trouble..." he answered nervously.
"I'm not asking your last name... I'm asking your name" Maki said with a slight smile
"But for you, I'd be willing to take the risk" Yuta replied staring at her.
Those looks were loaded with hypnotism
"My name is Yuta... and yours?" he asked,extending his right hand to him in a friendly way.
Maki hesitated a bit at first... but she also stretched out her hand.
Their hands were about to meet once more...
"Mine is M..." She was loudly interrupted
"So you were here?!" a voice shouted that made them both jump.
Had friend or ally come to interrupt that moment?
