"I'll just be there for the exercise, then I'll be visiting Balti before going home…Its fine, right?" Bremerton suggested to me.

"I won't…Will you be going soon?" Bremerton asked regarding my duty.

"In two hours, yeah. Let's get breakfast and prepare for the day" I said to Bremerton as I smiled.

"I know right? It will definitely require mountains worth of materials, where will they get them? Do they even have enough funding?" I questioned the decision despite agreeing to it somewhat.

"I don't know about that, but they must have a plan for that already" Bremerton said to me.

"Let's hope so. Expanding city while we're at war isn't really a great move" I commented while I folded my arms.

"I think they will have different budget allocations; it is also a long time project" Bremerton added.

"Yeah, how long do you think it'll take to build it? Ten years?" I asked her regarding the time estimation.

"I'll give it twenty, it is not an easy feat after all" Bremerton answered.

"Yeah, that sounded plausible within that timeframe" I commented.

"Did something happen?" I asked Bremerton as I turned my head toward her.

"…No, I just…really like this…It's like both of us living together. Waking up, making food, chatting as we pass the day…" Bremerton said to me.

…I don't mind in the slightest if we cohabited with each other, we'll have to rent an apartment though. The stir fry vegetables also tasted better, I'm not that much of a vegetable fan but I don't find eating this like a chore like I usually do…How did she managed to cook something delicious like these dishes? I don't remember ever having such exquisite seasoning or anything. Bremerton munched on her food for a bit before she noticed me glancing toward her, she swallowed before she smiled at me…with a knowing smile.

"Tasty, isn't it?" Bremerton guessed while she smiled.

"Truly. How did you manage to make them this delicious, did you use special combo for the seasoning or something?" I asked Bremerton.

"Yup! But I'll let you keep guessing what it is~, it's my specialty and I'm not willing to share~" Bremerton answered me while she grinned.

"Hmph, have it your way, as long as I got to eat it" I said to Bremerton while I smiled.

"All you got to do is ask~" Bremerton replied while she grinned.

…We swiftly finished our breakfast, and we watched the TV while letting our belly settles down for a bit. "No, no, I just like seeing you dressing up like that. You look so cool and manly and quite handsome, Alex" Bremerton said to me while she smiled widely.

"Anyway. Let's go, I want to see how you teach them. I haven't received training from you too" Bremerton noted as she stood up…Oh yeah, that's true.

Both of us exited the apartment and walked to the common room…which is absolutely full with my platoon members. Everyone is staring at me with widened eyes as Bremerton, who walked beside me, latched on my arm as we pass them by. Bremerton saw Lina and she greeted her while she waved, the woman replied to her while she put on a smile, a strained smile…I gave them my own short greetings, get in the elevator and hurriedly go down to the first floor…Fuck. "Stop yapping Rodney" Nelson said to her sister as her cheeks reddened slightly…cute!

"Ah, Signor Wallace! A pleasure to see you once again! I heard you have been quite busy lately!" Littorio said to me while she grinned.

"Indeed, the last few weeks has been quite eventful" I said to Littorio while I smiled slightly.

"Signor, I want to personally thank you for saving Pola. She is a family to Sardegna KANSENs, we all glad to know that she will be fine" Veneto thanked me as she shook my hands.

"Not just me ma'am, there are a lot of people who contributed to that rescue mission" I said to Veneto as I shook her hands.

"Ooh, modesty. I like that in a man~. This is the first time we have met face to face, we all heard of your prowess, Wallace-san. My name is Atago, and this is my older sister, Takao" Atago introduced herself to me alongside Takao.

"So he's the one. Hmm…I can tell you are a seasoned warrior, Wallace-san. I'm Kaga, a pleasure to meet you" Kaga introduced herself.

"I'm Alexander Wallace, good to meet you as well" I replied to Kaga.

"…Alex, when did you become so friendly with Akagi?" Bremerton asked me as she pouted slightly.

"Yes, I'm quite curious of that myself" Nelson chimed in.

"I was never mean to her in the first place. Anyway, let's get the crash course started" I said out loud.

I talked to them regarding what they will be doing today, also asked them whether they have fired a gun before. To my surprise, everyone prefers their swords compared to firearms. Even Nelson and Rodney never held a gun before, but they have swordsmanship skill so they can wield a blade with ease. To get them to ease down with guns, I chose to have them fire bolt action rifle for today. I brought three guns, a Lee Enfield, a Fucile Di Fanteria 91/41 Carcano and a Type 99 Arisaka. The three guns are native to their country origins, and I demonstrated to the ladies on how to operate them ranging from engaging to disengaging safety, reloading and operating the weapon. Bolt action rifles has universal mechanism and operation, so it's not that difficult to make the ladies here understand that. After getting the basics down, its time for field practical session. First one up on the line, is Nelson herself.

"Nervous?" I asked Nelson who's holding a Lee Enfield.

"…A bit, first time I'm holding a gun after all" Nelson replied while she frowned slightly.

"That's the importance of this crash course, to get you used to it. Alright, aim your rifle" I told Nelson.

"Like this?" Nelson asked me as she aimed her rifle.

"Not quite, allow me to correct you. Your shoulders are too stiff, you lean backwards too much…Okay, that's good. Spread your legs a little bit more…That's right, you're good. Now, aim down the sight, right at the human shaped target. Aim for the center of the body" I said to Nelson while I corrected her physically.

"Not the head?" Nelson asked me.

"Head is a small target and in the chaos of the battlefield, you'll want bigger and wider target. That means, their body" I explained to Nelson.

"Alright…Here I go" Nelson said out loud as she aimed her rifle.

"Good, pull the bolt and push it" I told Nelson.

"Pull the trigger" I said to Nelson.

"…Eh? I don't think I hit where I want to hit…" Nelson commented while she frowned.

"You're right…Let's bring the target closer to see it…See this? You're aiming for the center, but the two rounds you fired hit its stomach and shoulder. The reason why is simple, you pulled the trigger and did not control your breath" I said to Nelson as I bring the target closer for everyone to see.

"Wait, you told me to do that" Nelson said to me while she frowned.

"I did. This is to show to everyone that the bullet you launched isn't as stable as the one fired from your riggings. When it comes to small arms, everything is a deciding factor. Your posture, your recoil control, the guns you use, the bullets you're firing, the wind, humidity. Putting a bullet where you want to is a form of art, one that takes intense training to master. However, you could immediately shoot better with this simple trick I'm about to tell you…Alright, the target's back to where it should. Thirty meters away…Aim towards it once again, Nelson. Now, you exhale slowly before you fire and squeeze the trigger instead of pulling it" I told Nelson.

"…I…hit it…" Nelson exclaimed in disbelieve.

"You did. This trick doesn't work on anyone, some could do it while they exhale, some could do it when they inhale and hold their breath. But everyone who shoots at long range targets always squeezed their trigger, minimizing the initial movement you made to your rifle and ensuring the highest accuracy possible to hit your original target. As a shooter, the key is to remain calm, never forget that or you'll miss most of your shots…Go ahead Nelson, fire the last two rounds" I said to Nelson while I smiled.

Nelson practiced what I told her and fired twice, hitting the target successfully. Nelson looked so proud of her results, I smirked slightly as I patted her head while congratulating her and that set her off as she haughtily complained with slightly red cheeks. After having a brief chuckle about it, the others get their turn for the course. Rodney immediately understood on how to operate her rifle properly after hearing about my short lecture, Littorio has slight problems with cocking the bolt because of her grip so I taught her how to flick the bolt smoothly, Veneto is a bit clumsy with her rifle handling so I made her change her grip on the fore end, Kaga found that firing guns isn't as exciting as close combat but she's able to learn perfectly, Akagi also could fire her rifle properly but she has slight problem with clips inserting, Takao doesn't have any notable problems as she just need to get used to firing firearms more. Now we get to Atago, who doesn't seem to learn anything I've taught the other ladies so far! I don't understand how could she fail this badly!?

"…Have you not been paying attention, Ms. Atago?" I asked Atago with half closed eyes.

"I did, it's just a bit harder to put in practice" Atago reasoned while she smiled wryly.

Her grip is too close to the trigger so it messes with the rifle's balance, her posture leaned heavily to the back and her leg work is horrendous! I half figured a swordswoman would know the importance of stance; guess I'll have to teach her properly from the start. I told her step by step as I guided her by touching her directly, I corrected her legwork by hand and stood behind her as I corrected her way of handling the rifle…Oh my, she smells good. Atago leaned towards me and caused her hair to cover my nose…Hmm, she got flowery scent. Wait no! I immediately corrected her stance and then ask her to fire the rest of the cartridge in the magazine. This time she's able to pull it off perfectly…Huh, she can do it after all. "Thanks. Well, you ladies are free to go. Have a good day everyone" I replied to Atago then told them.

"Thank you for the lesson, Wallace-san" Takao said to me.

"It was quite an experience" Akagi said to me.

"Indeed" Kaga agreed with Akagi.

"I'm looking forward to try more weapons, Wallace. Expect me next week" Littorio said to me as she walked away.

"Grazie, signor. Ciao~" Veneto said to me while she waved before she catches up to Littorio

"Nelson, I'll be going on ahead. Thank you for today, Mr. Wallace" Rodney said to Nelson then to me before she bailed out of the armory.

"…I got to agree with Atago though, you really are a good teacher" Bremerton commented as she stared at me.

"You really think so?" I asked Bremerton as I tidy up the weapons.

"Yes. Your explanations and the way you teach us really easy to understand, I could fire a rifle accurately just from your brief direction and instructions" Nelson said to me.

"Huh…Thanks, I suppose. Never thought I'm a good teacher until now" I told Nelson and Bremerton.

"I guess that's one more side of you that we get to know of…Anyway, it's almost noon. Why don't we go-" Bremerton suggested something.

"Wallace! There you are, got something important to tell you" Sullivan appeared in front of me from the armory's entrance.

"Sully? What is it?" I asked him.

"We are told to head for commander's office tomorrow, dress up with our ceremonial uniform. We'll be getting medals lad! And the press would like to hear about our story!" Sullivan said to me while he grinned.

"Medals huh, alright. But what's this about the press?" I asked Sullivan further.

"Apparently, we've made quite a ruckus. They said Azure Island needs to see the heroics of the fighting men, KANSENs got too many spotlights that the people will definitely appreciate the story of those who fight alongside them" Sullivan told me while he folded his arms.

"…I'm not really keen on my face being shown to the public" I told him while I frowned slightly.

"Well…That's not an option, they want our face on the newspaper" Sullivan said to me while he shrugged.

"…Does Nobuyuki or Ambrose not concerned that the faces of their commandos got revealed?" I asked Sullivan.

"Hah, I thought so as well. But they want a legit story, and nothing's more legit nowadays than a photo" Sullivan said to me while he frowned.

Something's not right, they are allowing the public to know about our military operation and our identities. There isn't any restriction regarding our identity, but showcasing it to the world is not something one could consider a smart move either…They want heroes from the general soldiers, something must've happened that military command are allowing this. Is the war going badly in other fronts? That would make public heroes seems more appealing, like the men and women who fight alongside KANSENs are not some deadweights. Regardless, I could ask for some explanations later, refusing medals won't look good on your records if it's not for a very good reason…After receiving that info, I sent Sullivan on his way, spend some time with Nelson and Bremerton around the main compound before escorting both of them back to their dorms. I returned to Delta site, get hounded by my platoon who's quite curious regarding Bremerton staying over, told them to mind their own business, spent the rest of my days relaxing in my own room and then go to sleep.

The next day, my squad and I were briefed regarding the medal award ceremony by Ambrose. It is being held on the command center's auditorium; the press is already waiting for us. As expected, Ambrose told us to omit a lot of details regarding our operation. We are cleared to talk about the combat and non-mission critical events like firefights with Serpents or that big gestation pod monster that we killed, they also want us to keep the fact that Siren uses English language a secret until they find more evidence and workaround to breach this info to the public. After getting our story straight, we head for the auditorium and two MPs opened the door for us. There are ship girls, some soldiers and civilians gathering inside. The camera flashes rapidly as Nobuyuki, assisted with Amagi, attached the two medals to our chest. Mine's a lot more cluttered due to how many awards I've got, the left side of my dress is practically filled with medals and Nobuyuki just added two more to the collection! I saluted at the man and he responded with a salute of his own, he smiled widely before he stopped and nodded at me. He proceeded to attach the medals to my squadmates, each of them saluting at him once he's done. After he's done, he let the reporters took pictures of us, standing with newly awarded medals on our chest…I wonder what they think of me, they obviously see how many medals I've got…I suspect some of them saw me as a glory hound…

"Thank you, sir!" Sullivan replied to Nobuyuki, smile threatened to surface due to his lips twitching upwards slightly.

We got medals and Sullivan got promoted, things couldn't go any better than this! We took some photos before we are told to sit down on the provided chairs so we can begin the interview, the reporters are eager to ask us a lot of questions. The session ran for quite a bit, there's a lot of questions that we answered. Everyone get their own portions, the questions I received were mostly about my combat experience as a soldier, Sullivan alongside Maximus questions were focused on the feeling of fighting the Sirens, Gideon got numerous questions regarding the battlefield casualties in the fight against the Sirens, and Archer's questions was primarily about him being the son of an Eagle politician and his feelings of being a frontline soldier despite his status. They tried to ask in detail regarding our involvement on Miriam, but Ambrose quickly shut those questions down. After the interviews are done, we did short greetings with some people then dispersed from the area. I got to read the newspaper the day after that, and they really going with the tagline 'Humanity's Finest Warriors, The SCAR Unit' to describe us. The TV also played our interviews and medal award ceremony…Well, there goes my anonymity in public…Shite…

It's the middle of February…A few days has passed after the awards and I decided that it's time to do what needs to be done, my vacation comes exactly on Valentines Day so that's when I decide to head to a brothel. "I came all the way here because you are late! What is this about? You are day drinking in an alley with a man? Is there something I should know here, Alex?" Zara asked me with hands on her hips while she frowned.

"Let me assure you, it's not what you think!" I said to Zara while I smiled.

"…So, what are you doing here?" Zara asked me further.

"I just asked Dwayne here for some advice, that's all!" I said to Zara, that is the truth.

"What he said, really" Dwayne vouched for me, thanks.

"…Alright, if you say so. It's almost noon, we better go now, Alex" Zara bought it? Thank heavens or something…

"Y-Yeah" I said to Zara as she grabbed my hand and dragged me with her.

"Tell you what Wallace, you're the type who'll get whipped by your woman. Pucker up your asshole boy, it's gonna get spread out real good~!" Dwayne mocked openly while he smirked

She also told me about what she saw when she arrived on the port after her sortie, apparently one SCAR Unit was deployed and managed to bring back an invisible giant snake! They overwhelmed the bastard with hundreds of shock rounds then proceed to bag it with a ton of sedatives, it must be undergoing autopsy at the moment by the scientist on our base…I know SCAR members are mostly exceptional in battle, but capturing one alive is a great feat even among us. I wonder who they are? I should ask around later.

"I never meet those snakes; I don't know how frightening it is to face one" Zara commented as she stared at the road.

"They are killable, based on what I saw. Their main advantage is their stealth, but other than their invisibility gimmick, I don't see any other advantage they have" I said to Zara as I drove the jeep.

"Hmm…Have you faced them in combat?" Zara asked me.

"Not quite, I did saw some on Ceres and several corpses on Miriam" I told Zara.

"That so…By the way Alex, do you mind if I ask you something about your mission on Miriam? You were told to keep quiet to the press, but I want you to tell me and I promise I won't talk about it to anyone" Zara asked me.

"Relax Zara, I believe you…What do you want to know?" I asked Zara in return, she must really want to know about this.

"When you were there, Maria contacted you, right? Did she say anything about Armorpede?" Wait, she knew about that?!

"Andersen did mention that, you know about Armorpede?" I questioned Zara.

"…I…had a friend, a Sardegna infantry. She served alongside her brother when the pod appeared on the location they are guarding, a port town to the south of Sardegna…Maria was there for her research, she was the one who relayed the news about her to me…We had a fight just before we left Sardegna back then, her brother was making uncomfortable advances towards me so I told her about it and hopefully she can talk some sense into him. She believed her brother over me, saying that I'm just so good looking that I had to make up stories to discredit him in front of her and their platoon. I remember Pola being so livid that she threatened to march to my friend and slap her for that utter bullshit, always a protective girl, she is…The Armorpede showed up and killed her entire platoon, my friend was dying when Maria found her. She asked her to deliver a letter to me, on Point Azure…We haven't talked for weeks before my departure, we haven't contacted each other for months and she's planning to come over for a vacation and to apologize to me…" Zara revealed a tidbit of her past to me…

"I'm…sorry to hear that" I said to Zara while I frowned.

"…When I heard that a similar pod appeared on Miriam, I was the one who suggested that we run aground and destroy it before it could activate. I knew that the ground force would need help, and we ship girls could easily provide the necessary fire support…But Purifier had to show up with her cronies, they got a drop on us and we are forced to fight them…Nobuyuki told us to retreat, Pola and Baltimore guarded our escape route and they were taken down then captured…In a sense, everything that happened a few days ago was my fault, Alex…If I just stay quiet and take a safe approach suggestion, Pola and Baltimore won't get injured and you won't have to go there to rescue them" …I see, so it was Zara who suggested the KANSEN ground assault.

"While you are the reason why everything happened, it is not your fault. It was the Siren's fault, you were only making a suggestion to quickly quell the threat because you and your friends have the power to do that…An ambush is always on the equation, but you aren't clairvoyants, you couldn't predict the future…So there's no need to beat yourself up over that, we made mistakes, and we are obliged to learn from them…" I told Zara regarding my thoughts.

"Easier said than done Alex, I'm afraid Bremerton and the other girls hates me for what I've done" Zara confessed regarding her fear for her actions.

"Do they? I don't know about the other girls. But I'm pretty sure Pola, Bremerton and Baltimore wouldn't blame you…Do anyone ever cussed you out for getting them into that mess back then?" I asked Zara.

"…No…We focused on getting out of that situation, and quelling the entire Siren force around Miriam…They don't say anything about my blunder" Zara told me.

"Probably because they don't consider it as one in the first place, you should trust your sister and friends more" I said to her while I smiled slightly.

"What if they just kept it quiet and talked about it behind my back?" Zara questioned the prospect…Hmm, that's a realistic assumption.

"Tell you what, why don't you meet them one by one and talked it over with them regarding the event that day, clear up any misunderstanding. If you're not brave enough, I'll go with you, maybe hold your hand in the process so you can be brave about it" I suggested her a course of action.

"Fufu…Si, a beautiful suggestion…But don't worry, I could do that myself…Grazie Alex, for hearing me out" Zara thanked me.

"Don't mention it" I said to her while I smiled.

"…When I heard about that pod, that my sister got captured near it and that you were heading out to rescue her…I admit, I have nothing but anxiety in my heart, Alex…I heard what the Armorpede could do, I know you won't stand a chance if you fight it without support. I was planning to be the reinforcement for you, but Nobuyuki sent out Algerie and Eugen instead. I don't know whether that creature is worse than Armorpede or not, but I'm glad you triumphed against it…I heard from Algerie and Eugen, how you really fight in the frontline and how you and your squad took the creature down with the help of those two…I'm thankful that I got to see you today, because everything could've ended really differently on Miriam…" Zara continued on while she smiled softly…

"That's how you really feel about it huh…You know what, I'm glad that there are people out there who worries for me whenever I grab a gun and head for a fight…It…felt nice, to know that someone out there cares for you" I told her about what I felt.

"It is. So don't ever forget, me and our friends will always worry whenever you go to a fight. Do your best to return safely, for your sake, and our sake" Zara said to me while she smiled.

I nodded to that, my answer regarding that matter has changed compared to my answer back then…After meeting you, the other girls, reunited with my sister and that prophetic vision, I have to survive in order to make sure that the worst didn't come to pass…Going from nothing to lose to having so much to lose if I fail doesn't feels great, but I'm grateful that I have a purpose in life now…Anyway, we were mostly silent after that with only occasional chatter here and there along the road. Soon enough, we arrived on Valencia. Hmph, bustling as always. Zara asked to go here, but where are we going specifically? I asked Zara regarding our destination; she told me to drive to the outskirt of Valencia and we soon arrived on a particularly large building near the beach. It seems to be some sort of shop or something, but the building has Mediterranean aesthetics to it, like those often found on Sardegna or Greece…So it has connection to those area, I still don't understand why would she brought me here.

"What is this place about?" I asked Zara as we disembarked.

"This place is The Jewel of Sardinia, a place for Sardinians on Valencia to visit and revel in Sardegna atmosphere. We're long way from home, so this place serves as a way to relieve our homesickness, I suppose" Zara explained to me.

"Is that so…You miss your home?" I questioned Zara as we walked toward the building.

"Not really, but being reminded once in a while would do me good. Regardless of what I am, I'm still one of the Sardinians…I like our culture, our history and I wouldn't want to part from it…But I don't want to leave this archipelago as well, it's a delicate situation" Zara revealed openly…

"You don't want to leave, why is that?" I asked Zara further.

"I've met so many people here, experience so many things. It broadens my horizons, made me realize that the whole world is not just Sardegna. This place is as equally valuable as to my homeland" Zara said to me.

"So you don't have a plan to return to Sardegna?" I questioned Zara more.

"Maybe I'll visit for vacation…I'd like to make this place my home" Zara stated while she stared at me.

"…It is a lovely place, excluding it being a favorite Siren target" I commented.

"All the more reason for me to stay, the people here would need someone to protect them. That's us" Zara said to me.

Both of us entered the building, and the reception area is quite crowded with people. We walked toward the receptionist who explained to us on what kind of attraction they have on this place, there's restaurant, library, or even museum. What's inside the museum and library are replicas, but they are uncanny replicas to the original back on Sardegna, their senate aren't stupid enough to brought the original out of their country. Zara said she's a bit hungry so we decided to get some food first, we head to the restaurant, sat by the window seat and looked through the menu. All I know about Sardegna cuisine are pizza and pasta, I have no other knowledge about their food and so I told Zara to recommend some to me. Zara recommended me Frittata, it's basically a baked egg cake and she said that I'll definitely love it…We have to wait for a bit since the restaurant is completely jampacked today, so Zara and I chose to talk some more, regarding anything to fill the silence.

"…What?" I asked Zara who looked to the side and smirked.

"Oh, nothing important. A girl was ogling at you from the side" Zara told me, really?

"Really?" I glanced to the side, but Zara immediately stopped me by lightly stepping on my feet.

"Don't bother, I made sure she knows that you are not available~" Zara said to me while she smiled slightly.

"Fine…Still, a girl ogling me? That never happened before" I commented.

"Most girls are blind when it comes to men's real quality, face really helps but what matter most is their overall self. I guess that girl really know how to pick her choice in men, or quite lucky since she doesn't know you yet" Zara said to me.

…I can't believe this! So, they already realized that I like them as a man and they really do have feelings for me. But none of us decided to confront the others about this, not until today, that is…And Zara was right, I am confused on regarding how to proceed into the future. Zara is surely aware that me dating one of them will definitely break the dynamic we have at the moment, but there are two ways out of this. One, we did nothing and sit on our feelings which will go nowhere. Two, harem route…If I want to be really honest, harem route is the one I definitely want to go. I want to respond to five of them, I want to return their affections. "Hah…You are a greedy man, Alex. Do you honestly think this will go well with us? That we'll just accept having to share you? We have our greed as well, we don't want our hearts to be toyed around" Zara said to me while she frowned deeper.

"I am not toying any of you around, I am being sincere about this…I will treat the five of you equally…But I understand if this can't work, this is honestly quite an outrageous decision…" I said to Zara before I closed my eyes…This is it…

"…In honor of your bravery for saying that, I will discuss this with the other girls, Alex" Zara said to me…Eh?

"I better expect to get slapped then…" I commented while I cringed slightly.

"Si. But before I slap you, I want you to tell me what you think about me, as a man, not a friend" Zara said to me with hands on the table.

You are the one who told me to be more confident in myself, because while I can't see it, you did see the potential in me that's being held back by my fear…I honestly might get stuck in my old self, if not for your words back then…Thank you, I guess I never gave my gratitude to you before this" I told Zara regarding my sincere thoughts on her.

"So that's what you thought of me…Bene, I suppose that clears up a lot of things between us" Zara responded before she motioned her fingers for me to get closer.

…I did as she told and closed my eyes, this is going to hurt…I felt a light tap to my left cheek and I opened my eyes, only to meet with Zara's topaz irises staring at me as she's just inches away from me. I did not have the faintest idea what thoughts are running in her head right now, it makes me anxious but…I felt relieved, somewhat. I told her about what I feel to her, to our friends, and our situation…After staring at my eyes for a few seconds more, she leaned back and nodded to herself…What? What is going on? Goddammit, women are so confusing and men are not mind readers! This is why it took us thousands of years to advance as a civilization! But before I could ask her regarding what she think, our order arrived and we ate lunch in relative silence…It's a bit awkward after that talk, but I got everything across so I have no regrets…After eating our food, we walked to the museum section and take a look around.

I walked to an Ancient Roman Empire soldier battle dress, with its armor, weapon and shield in full display. The mannequin is holding a spear, and its posing in an alert stance. I glanced to its hip and saw a blade neatly sheathed, seems like a short sword to me and a good backup once the spear broke or lost…Hmm, got to say, I don't envy soldiers from the past, the melee combat in times where sword reigns was really brutal. Zara suddenly approached me and observed the mannequin as well, she took a good long look at the attire before she turned and looked at me while holding her chin…

"…You would look better in your current uniform" Zara commented.

"Huh, you think I couldn't pull off the medieval soldier look?" I asked Zara while I smiled slightly.

"Let's just say I really like it when you're wearing your service uniform or ceremonial one, I can't take my eyes off of you during that medal handling ceremony" Zara said to me while she smiled.

"You were there? I didn't see you" I admitted to Zara.

"Five of us were there Alex, but given how swamped you are, we decided to let you be. Still, I saw how many medals on your chest…I think every single one of them are earned" Zara said to me while she smiled.

"I see…Thanks for coming" I said to her while I smiled.

"It would be a disservice to your actions if I didn't…Pola is still here because of you and your men…I will be forever grateful for that" Zara told me as she looked into me directly.

"…I was glad that we got there before it's too late" I said to her while I smiled slightly.

Zara nodded her head before she dragged me to see something else, we walked to the gallery section and take a look at the paintings. There's a lot of them, but I am not cultured enough to know about any of them or to give a professional opinion. I think they look neat though, I couldn't draw for shite. Best I can do is stickmen and basic geometry, it's useful enough for military operation or something but it won't make me money hahaha…Zara took a good long look at a particular painting, it's a painting of a woman who's smiling at the painter…I zoomed in a bit with ANARIS, there's a small plaque beneath it with the words 'Mona Lisa' on it…Ah, could it be the title of this painting? Or the name of the person used for the painting object? I read encyclopedias but haven't saw this piece before…Then again, I haven't read all the volumes. Either way, Zara seems to be really intrigued with Mona Lisa.

"Is there something you really find intriguing with this painting?" I asked Zara.

"This is the work of Leonardo Da Vinci, a very famous person on Sardegna back then" Zara said to me.

"Oh I know him, but I heard of his mechanical works instead of paintings" I told Zara.

"I am an enthusiast of his work; this replica is very immaculate" Zara revealed to me.

"You can tell?" I asked her.

"No, the fact I can't is what makes it really great. They did a very good job" Zara explained regarding the replica.

"Huh" I commented as I looked at the Mona Lisa.

"…Not a fan of painting, Alex?" Zara asked me while she smiled bitterly.

"I don't know, never been involved with art too much to have an opinion. It's nice to look at, and I can tell the painter really put in their effort and showcased their talents. That's all I can say without being pretentious" I said to her while I shrugged lightly.

"You tinkered with machines, makes sense you don't know anything about art. Oh, why don't I show you around?" Zara asked me while she smiled.

"Sure, lead the way" I told her while I smiled slightly.

Zara kept holding my hand as she guided me around the gallery, she brought me to see a lot of paintings and not just the Da Vinci's work. Zara could explain their work in detail, why they created that painting and brief history on how they are appreciated. She could explain them in a way that an amateur like me could fully understand, what a great lecturer…This makes me realized that Zara really loves culture, she's not only known about Sardegna's culture, but Iris, Royals, Ironblood and to some extent, the Northern Parliament as well. I asked her about her extensive cultural knowledge and Zara said it's because she often read books about them whenever she has free time on Sardegna, it started after she took a fatal hit during night battle that put her riggings out of commission. While her wounds were nothing fatal, she had to stay behind on a bed rest for at least a month so she would read all the books in their previous base.

That is why Zara knows a lot of things, and that she sympathized with me doing the same as her during junior high school. We started talking about the encyclopedias that we have read; seems Zara has read almost all of the volumes compared to me who barely read half of them since the library doesn't have them all back then. We bought drinks and some snacks, sat by the bench on the porch that overlooks the beach in front of us and just…talked, about what we have learned from the books…Zara knows a lot, and we learned from one another so much. As far as a date goes, I don't know whether this one is normal or not. I mean, we ate and talked and get to know each other…This counts as one, right? Zara sighed slowly as she leaned on the bench, we were just done talking about crops that could grow well in this environment…Zara seems like she'd like to build her own farm later down the line, and she have heard of me wanting to buy a land. She kind of suggested to me so I could allow her some part of it, we both know what she's implying here in exchange for that…

Both of us decided to go see a movie, we boarded the jeep and drove to the cinema. We entered the building and since its weekdays, it's quite empty. Zara and I checked some of the posters featuring the movie currently being played, there's four of them. The first one is some kind of superhero movie, some man encased in armor and using the power of science to defeat the bad guys. The second one is a movie about the Sardinian mafia operating on New York, it's a crime drama and placing a big value upon familial bonds alongside loyalty. The third one is a zombie movie; the dead has risen in a small town and this is the story of its survivors. And the fourth one is about a group of four soldiers who get called upon for any impossible task, they are an expert at improvising and always completed their assignment…I did suggest Zara to watch the Sardinian mafia movie given her liking her culture, but she disagreed with me and want to watch the zombie movie. Well, seems that's what we are going to watch. We bought the tickets alongside some soda and popcorn before we entered the studio playing the movie, we waited for ten minutes before the movie starts playing.

It started as an average day in a small town within Eagle Union, life is good and peaceful. Then the military research facility nearby accidentally released some kind of gas that contained airborne agent that caused the people within the small town to turn into cannibals…Wait, that's not a zombie, they're just cannibals. But the catch is that this agent also hijacked corpses and would also make the infected people to rise again after they were taken down. The only way to truly kill them is to demolish their head, or burn them completely. The story follows a group of young adult survivors, they started out with ten of them in a group which slowly dwindles down as one by one got eaten by the zombie. The death scenes are quite gruesome, props to the prop department for making it visceral and believable. Zara squirmed in her seat, even lightly gasped when a jump scare happened. She unconsciously gripped my hand throughout the movie, I did nothing but to grip her hand in return. After making through several nights, they eventually escaped the town via a car. All is well as they ride for the safety beyond the bridge…But the area has been turned into exclusion zone, and it's been quarantined. The army stationed on the other side of the bridge blew the car up, they actually had an M4 Sherman shoot at the car! This is a pretty big budget movie! And just like that, the credits rolled and the movie ended…Bullshit ending but overall, pretty good! The story is easy to follow and the scenes are taken well, not to mention the high production value! After watching that, Zara and I decided to go back to Point Azure since it's already dusk.

"That was a good movie! It really makes me immersed in the story, I can imagine myself being stuck in that situation and contemplating my course of action. Like, one of the survivors being a complete merda at barricading the windows that it caused the swarm to breach the safe house when one of them gets too loud. Then they really make the death scenes memorable and vivid, it's so gory and really sells the danger those zombies exhibit when one of them could shrug off weapon fire to eat them alive…I do wonder how could there be survivors or non-infected around, maybe it's some kind of immunity to the airborne agent? But while there are survivors and most of the facilities are intact, why haven't they contacted the military to help? Maybe the whole thing was done on purpose, they are testing the agent as a bioweapon on their own people" Zara reviewed the movie as we drive down the road.

"Hahah, that is quite the theory, Zara" I responded while I smiled.

"It is possible, you could never know" Zara told me while she pouted slightly.

"I admit, anything could happen when we talk about them" I said to Zara.

"The same can be said about this whole war, someone out there could be making a killing profit" Zara commented as she leaned to her seat.

"Well…the military industry is at its strongest right now, churning weapons and ammo out like no tomorrow" I told Zara while I shrugged.

"Si si, but without them, this fight will be over too quick…I guess it's a grey area, we should keep our thoughts to the frontline for now" Zara said out loud.

"…Today has been quite a ride. We didn't do much, but time flies by quickly" I commented.

"That means we're having fun Alex, despite not doing much. Well, we talked a lot, learned a lot and even watched movie to end it…I'll take this kind of date over luxury dinner and other high-class event" Zara said to me.

Ambrose looked down and immediately zipped his pants up, I should get a raise for preserving our major's dignity…After that brief talk, we boarded a jeep and rolled out in a convoy with four other jeeps filled with military police armed with AK47s. This is a heavy escort, why the fuck Ambrose would need me then?! I drove with him to a small town near Point Azure, the Johnsville, a rather generic name for a hub town between the west part of Azure Island to Valencia. This place is a small town littered with motels, bars, various shops and residence. Nothing too remarkable about it, other than being a place where most military officer live with their family…We drove to a bar near the edge of town, it has police line all over its perimeter and crowded by police, reporters and onlookers. We parked the jeep and disembarked, I walked alongside Ambrose as reporters took pictures of us and tried to interview Ambrose. Fortunately, the police and MPs make short work of them by blocking their advances…The both of us entered the bar, and we immediately saw a scene of massacre…corpses laid around the bar floor, they are covered with bloodied sheets but the fact that there's over a dozen of them alone tells you enough.

"Hah…Not even the other people are safe from them" Ambrose commented after he sighed.

"Major Ambrose, I'm Detective Buck. I've been expecting you" …His name is Buck, and he likes to fu-.

Those four men came in, shoot at the people and bailed out, all under one minute…Whoever they are, this was a planned attack and they have information regarding the Military Police that Major Ambrose thought as primary target…Furthermore, we suspected them as mercenaries" Buck explained to us.

"That's a good assumption, they must've been militarily trained to be able to do this…Do we know anything regarding the suspect?" Ambrose asked Buck.

"Eyewitnesses said that the suspects were dressed in heavy trench coat, gloves, fedora hat, bandana covering their faces and sun glasses. We do not have any slightest idea regarding who they are, nor where they came from…This is a clean hit, they thought of every angle of approach…I'm sorry to say, but building a case out of all of this with minimum evidence is going to be a herculean task" Buck said to us while he folded his arms.

"So this is impossible to figure out" I asked Buck.

"Bluntly speaking, yes…We are going to need more information if we want to go anywhere with this, and judging by the looks of things, it's not looking great" Buck commented.

…I scoured the area with ANARIS analyzing every single bit of data it could possibly handle, and I found nothing that I haven't know yet. And even if there's anything could be used as a clue, Buck would've found it already…I looked around harder and still can't find anything of note. Dammit, is there really nothing we can use around here to pin point our suspect? I looked toward the pool of blood near the entrance and noted that there are footprints there, I zoomed in with ANARIS and have it run over analysis using data from the available database.

"It is as you said, a problem. I don't see a way to conduct an investigation at that scale without getting major attention as well" Buck commented.

"…Let me worry about that, in the meantime, I need your cooperation to pursue this case through the civilian angle. I'll conduct my own internal investigation and share the result with you as necessary" Ambrose told Buck.

"Sounds good...Do you have an idea on why did this happen?" Buck asked Ambrose.

"I do, but until I'm absolutely sure about that, I'd rather keep quiet for now" Ambrose replied while he frowned slightly.

…After inspecting the crime scene, Ambrose and I returned to Point Azure. We discussed about what we found on the crime location, both of us agreed that if this could happen to that one guy, then there's possibility the others are being targeted as well, including the two lieutenants and the ship girls involved. Needless to say, we immediately moved to notify them regarding what has transpired last night and urged them to be careful, especially Amagi who's the leader behind the act to overthrow Reynolds. Hehehehe…Looking at you, majority of romance manga, how the fuck no progress would be made so many chapters in or a progress did happen and then it got reset to oblivion? Fuck that, that's a trope or tradition I am willing to kill, that shit won't be on my stories! We don't do that here; we do love and affection for real with protagonists who's not a wimp! Maybe few would be insecure somewhat, but no wimp! Slow burn is one thing, but eternally burn with no progress? Hell no. I admit, I do feel Alex relations with the five of the girls are at the stage 'deep but it can get deeper'. That's why I've set more things that could deepen their relationship, like more dates and other slice of life events or…life and death situation? Yeah, you'll see when the chapters do arrive…It pains me to say this, but please stay tuned and prepare to burn your patience supplies for the next one.
