a/n: I don't have a beta so all mistakes are my own. And though I am turning 29 this year I didn't even finish 8th grade at school.

Hermione was continuing to read the Transfiguration text that was in her lap when she heard the door to Minerva's quarters open. She looked up with a smile as she saw the woman who was slowly becoming a mother to her and a red head beside her. "Is it lunch already?" She questioned feeling that time had flown by since the professor left after breakfast.

Minerva smiled at Hermione and nodded. "I was just bringing Molly here, I have to go back to the hall." She explained softly before turning to her friend. "I will get Mimsy to deliver some tea and sandwiches." She added before leaving the two alone.

The young of the tow put her book down on the coffee table and motioned for Molly to come sit with her, unsure of what to say so she remained quiet waiting for the other to speak first. Molly moved across the room and sat down next to Hermione and turned to face her with a smile. "How are you coping, dear?" She inquired having seen how the tournament was effecting her own children.

The brunette shrugged slightly and looked into the fire for a moment. "I'm trying to help Harry where I can, and Ron hasn't been the best about the situation either." She explained softly with a sigh thankful when tea service appeared.

Molly nodded having heard Ron going on about how Harry must have put his name in the cup, though she didn't believe the boy would. "What about with other things?" She probed wanting to talk about what was going on between them, but she also didn't want to put the young woman beside her.

"As I said yesterday, it hurts when I don't speak to you…" She trailed off for a moment before looking at the woman beside her. "I want to be able to be there, hold you… Kiss you." She admitted shaking her head. "Thank you for talking to Minerva about taking me in, it would've been more confusing if you had of… I've been thinking about asking her to adopt me completely even if I have less than a year before I'm a legal adult."

The slightly plump woman smiled as Hermione spoke and nodded but didn't interrupt wanting to know exactly what was going on in her mind. "I think it would be great for both of you if she did, it would give her the heir she always dreamt of, and you would have a loving mother." She thought it was easier to touch on that part first before getting into her own feelings on the situation. "I admit I am quite the same when it comes to not speaking with you, but I wanted to give you space." She confessed reaching over to taking her hand gently. "You are an amazing young woman and I am flattered that your affections have been directed towards myself." She paused with a small smile. "I think it would be wise of us to take things slow and see where it leads."

Hermione couldn't help but smile at the others words and nodded her head in agreement. "The only problem I can see is Ron's reaction when he finds out… I haven't told any of them that I am gay yet, and I know he has feelings for me."

Molly pulled Hermione into her arms and kiss the top of her head. "Owl me when you have come out, and we will see where we are before thinking about telling the family." She wanted to tell her children but she knew Hermione was right and could see the way her youngest son looked at the other. "Ron will come around when he realises that it was never going to happen."

Sighing with a nod Hermione rested her head against Molly's shoulder and fell asleep. This was how Minerva found them an hour later. The deputy smiled at the scene and didn't want to wake them but knew Molly needed to get home. She gently shook their shoulders. "Molly, Hermione.. It's time to wake up." Her voice was soft but loud enough for the two to slowly wake. "Molly should be getting home, Kitten." She told Hermione softly who sat up and placed a kiss to Molly's cheek.

"Feel free to owl, dear." Molly spoke softly returning the gesture before standing up and hugging her friend before leaving.

Hermione sighed. "We've decided to take things slow, I still need to tell my friends that I'm gay… I also wish to ask you something." She explained not waiting for Minerva to question her on what happened while she was gone.

Minerva sat down where Molly was and pulled Hermione into her arms. "What do you wish to know, Kitten?" She questioned. It had only been a few times she used the nickname but it felt right to call Hermione that.

"I know I am seventeen in less than a year, but I was wondering if I could become your daughter, if you would adopt me… I mean I am closer to you than I ever was with my biological mother and somewhere deep inside I feel like I should've been yours… Not that I don't love my birth parents…" She rambled trying to explain herself only to be silenced when a finger was placed upon her lips causing her to look up into emerald green eyes.

The older witched smiled with a hint of amusement at the girls rambling. "I would be honoured to call you daughter." She admitted softly. "Are you also wishing to change your name as well?"

Hermione smiled and nodded shyly at the question. "I feel I should've been a McGonagall from the start." She spoke in a whisper.

"If you feel up to it, we can go to the Ministry before school starts back and get that sorted." She kissed the girls hair and continued to hold her close. "You may want to inform your friends so they aren't shocked when professors start calling you Miss McGonagall." She teased but didn't let go of the girl in her arms. "I love you, my daughter." She whispered.

The young Gryffindor smiled with a nod but also didn't attempt to move from the woman's embrace. "I love you too, mama."
