I had tried to distract myself as best I could during the day.

Even at dinner with Min I avoided the subject of Malfoy.

I didn't want to dwell on what had happened because I wouldn't be able to explain it.

I had felt his eyes on me when I was in the library and I hoped they were the normal hateful looks.

It had taken me some effort to go back to the dungeons after dinner and after I had showered, because I wasn't going to shower in someone else's shower again.

I knocked quite loudly and often on the door, waiting for him to welcome me in so that I wouldn't have to face a towel-clad Malfoy again.

Malfoy was wearing classy looking pyjamas and I felt rather silly with my hoodie, shorts and warm socks.

No one slept like this. This was abnormal, no one made themselves pretty for bed.

But Malfoy seemed to be the exception.

"Had a nice day?", I asked casually, putting my clothes for tomorrow next to where I was sleeping.

Malfoy grumbled in agreement and stepped close behind me.

He took one deep breath as if he had smelled me.

"What was that about?", I hissed at him and turned to face him.

"You stink", he said curtly.

"No I don't, I just had a shower!", I sneered back.

"That's the problem Harper, your shampoo smells disgusting."

"Peach", I replied truthfully, crossing my arms.

"Peaches don't smell disgusting, they smell sweet", I explained.

"Doesn't change the fact that I hate that smell.

Wash them again with different shampoo!", he ordered.

"No, definitely not.

I'm not going back upstairs just to wash my clean hair again because you don't like the smell. Besides, I don't have any other shampoo."

Who did he think he was, this morning he's still cuddling with me and now he's giving me shit about my shampoo?

"Then shower here and use mine but I don't want that smell in my nose all the time."

"Oh, now all of a sudden I'm allowed to use your shower and even your shampoo.

And why was yesterday such a fuss?"

"Today is different", he said curtly, gesturing me towards the bathroom.

Only four more days, I thought to myself.

I would just suck it up, wash my hair again and just not say anything.

I nodded silently and disappeared into the bathroom.

"Go easy on the conditioner, it costs more than your entire wardrobe", Malfoy called through the door.

I hadn't intended to use conditioner but simply out of spite I did now and used extra.

I came out of the bathroom with freshly washed and braided hair.

"Better?", I asked annoyed towards Malfoy who was lying in his bed reading.

He looked up briefly and nodded.

I curled up on my mattress and closed my eyes.

I wanted to sleep as much as I could in case Malfoy caused trouble again tonight.

And if he did I certainly wouldn't crawl into his bed again.

I fell asleep before Malfoy had turned out the light and I didn't notice him turning on the music box.

I only woke up when I heard the door creak.

Reflexively, I grabbed my wand and held it towards the door.

"Malfoy?", I said annoyed when I realised he had opened the door.

"What are you doing? You should be in bed sleeping, not pacing around here."

"I can't sleep", he said as if that explained something.

I sighed.

"Try again. It's the middle of the night again." I yawned demonstratively to back up my statement.

"That's easy for you to say, you sleep like a rock", he replied snottily.

"Where are you going?", I amended my question.

"Outside."

"In your pyjamas?

You'll catch your death or worse a flu."

He snorted.

"Half an hour and then we'll go back to sleep", I said and stood up.

I hung the blankets around my shoulders to stay warm.

"We?", Malfoy asked confused.

"Yes, we. I'll not let you walk around the castle by yourself.

Afterwards you'll fall asleep somewhere and freeze to death.

I'll have to explain that to Min and I don't feel like it."

"Min?", he asked and I realised my mistake.

"Professor McGonnagal", I corrected quickly, hoping for no more questions.

He indeed didn't ask any further and we walked out of the room.

Well Malfoy walked, as straight as ever and I shuffled behind him like a walking blanket mountain.

"Where are you going?", I asked after we had been walking for a few minutes.

"To get some fresh air", he replied. "And you don't have to come with me."

"It's too late for that, now I'm awake too."

For the next few minutes we walked in silence, one behind the other, until we arrived at one of the courtyards.

The courtyard was full of snow from the last few days and it looked incredibly peaceful.

Malfoy climbed through one of the window openings and only now did I notice that he wasn't wearing shoes at all.

"Malfoy are you crazy!

You can't just walk around without shoes let alone jump in the snow.

Are you out of your mind?!"

I was completely horrified.

I climbed out the window too, leaving the blankets in the warmth of the castle.

I was shivering directly but I had to bring Malfoy to his senses and if I did that with magic.

I was standing right next to him when it rumbled above us.

Malfoy didn't seem to hear it but I knew what it was, I had heard it far too often when I was on skiing holidays with my aunt and uncle.

We were standing right next to a high tower and I had only one second which I used to get Malfoy out of the line of fire with a skilful push.

It wasn't enough for me and the avalanche from the roof buried me.
