Steven looks at the sign,
psych unit —*
"This way." Steven said, making sure peridot was following him.
The two walk to the door.
The sign on the double doors read:
keep door locked and closed at all times*
ring bell for assistance*
Steven did as the sign said and pushed the button.
There was a quiet voice in the small intercom.
how can I help you?* a sweet sounding nurse asked.
"I'm here to see amethyst." Steven said.
last name?* the nurse asked.
"Uhh, she kinda doesn't have one." Steven laughed.
"She's purple!" Amethyst shouted over Steven.
"Oh her! Wait until you hear a buzz then open the door and shut it please."
"Thanks" Steven said relived.
~bzz~
Steven opened the door, inside the unit everything was rounded and smoothed.
Even the beds were different.
Steven looked around for amethyst then found her.
"There you are, thank goodness" Steven said holding his chest with relief.
Peridot, of course, distracted by the window.
"You, okay peridot?" Amethyst weakly asked.
"Oh, yeah sorry." She laughed awkwardly.
"This place is weird" Steven said jokingly.
"Yeah, and I have to stay here.." amethyst said sighing.
"They also tried to have me take off my clothes, that didn't work too well." She followed up, giggling.
Peridot also laughed.
A nurse came over and knocked on the door,
"Hey you four, visiting is over. You can come back at 6 am to see her. The nurse said.
The gems looked at each other in shock and fear. They didn't want to leave her..
"Don't worry guys, I'll be fine. I literally can't hurt myself in here." Amethyst said yawning.
"Promise you'll be okay?" Pearl questioned.
"Promise."
Garnet sighed, "alright, see you 6am sharp."
"Yeah" amethyst smiled.
"Bye amethyst! Steven and peridot said at the same time.
All three laughed.
They walk out of the hospital, still worried. They all buckled up, peridot still didn't understand how to buckle, so garnet helped her.
And then they drove home. Steven was too tired to drive, so pearl drove back.
Steven fell asleep in the back seat, while peridot was staring out of the window,
Garnet and pearl were talking, but Steven couldn't make out what they were saying.
Pearl wasn't speeding, so it's going to take way longer to get home. Steven sighed at the thought, then jumped back up with fear realizing amethyst wasn't in the car, then he remembered she's still at the hospital.
Steven, being extremely exhausted, drifted off to sleep, his window slightly ajar.
The last thing he saw before drifting to sleep was the beautiful night sky, and the street lights of the highway.
