Riley was in the backseat of Mrs. Franklin's car she was from Department Children and Families she wanted to feel safe once Riley arrived she had a strong feeling that something wasn't right but kept quiet. Once the Vega's came out to great and shake hands that was when things changed rapidly. I was sent upstairs to the attic see a uniform on the bed with a list of chores hiding my backpack mama Fancy had saved for me never even opened it, never knew what was packed inside it. Once I was changed into the uniform a little girl named Mackenzie Amelia Vega was sweet she was rather nice to me. But that changed when Mrs. Vega had to call her that would backhand her daughter as the other children waited for me to cook their breakfast found out rather quickly. That I was more the maid then anything that hurt their was no love my brother killed everything hope he is happy because this how I ended up.

Kelly moved into a different part of the city once the noise he calmed down going to the cabin in the woods for a week he found his soulmate now that the noise is just that noise. Kelly was fishing off the dock ignoring all around him just taking in the fresh air and the bird noises of their morning songs. Kelly knew his feelings for Sylvie would not go away he found out about the program that Sylvie wants to do, knowing that she will make that program a success nation wide. Swinging back the rod hearing the thunk of the bait hitting the water with a smile wishing of son and daughter with him as Sylvie was in the cabin letting him enjoy their father moments together making memories. Hearing the rain Kelly removes his pole and bait along with the tackle heads inside the cabin Kelly cleaned his fishing pole. Grabbing his keys Kelly locked up the cabin as he made it back towards the city before the road closed, looking over in the passenger seat that plaguing smile along with putting on her favorite song as she laughed Kelly shakes his head wishing that Kelly confessed his feelings way before Stella arrived back to Chicago after that water rescue that almost killed Sylvie. Seeing the view of the city Kelly was lost in that memory their was no way of getting out of it:

Snow started to fall back in September 2015 Shay passed away I wasn't fully myself life sucker punched me to the gut, now here I was depressed missing my best friend along with sister we had so much in common it wasn't even funny. Sitting at the squad table it was like deja vu all over again blonde blue eyed girl comes in perky with 8 cups of coffee the sarcasm kinda took over "that all for you or you just need the high of a lifetime without the drugs?" Kelly said as he folded his arms looking up at her what he wasn't expecting was the comeback "oh I had the high of a lifetime just this morning here have a cup enjoy. Oh my name is Sylvie Brett enjoy." Sylvie said as she walked into the common room as Kelly smirked as he sipped his coffee thinking about the high she experienced just this morning. The mood for Kelly changed within that moment he got up was quiet just wanted to listen to her talk it was soft like an angel. Then that moment was ruined when Kelly hears Gabriella "Gabby" Dawson's voice in a hush whisper "so Rachel Shay is going to be doing a ride along to see what Shay did for a living just wanted you to know." Gabriella said as she walked away Kelly did as well expect he went to the gym to blow off steam, the door opened as the blonde walked over pretending she does exist works better until he hears "replacing that was beloved isn't easy, however the mind heals but the heart takes longer to process and mend its self nobody can ever replace what was taken. However I will never be the shadow of someone I am who made myself out to be. Promise you that I will prove myself away from the shadow." Sylvie said as she walked out the door Kelly had to close his eyes just from that harsh angelic tone of voice set him on edge that was one point that nobody made him feel unsure of his life. Nobody made a bold threat like that actually promise it. That meant Kelly would have to keep his eyes on the new paramedic very closely. Sighs as ambulance 61 was called to the Navy Pier along with the others that meant water rescue in now freezing cold temps word has it ice already formed on the lake. Once they pulled up Kelly was already getting his gear on when Gabriella started pacing as was Rachel Shay this was a nightmare however another blonde was missing that meant his heart stopped that was two no way, they didn't have the proper training for water rescues that was never in the training. The fear that Kelly felt was more or less dread the shock that a paramedic who didn't want to be a shadow of someone, that very someone just did the most of the rescue my legs feel like heavy metal, the more I crept closer their was blood on the ice, everyone pointed out the obvious of the harrowing act "Severide wait!" Cruz yelled as Kelly just missed the blood on the ice Kelly races to the kid first as he pulled him to the surface Sylvie's doing as they reach the surface. Capp and Vargas reached for the boy as Kelly goes back into the water just fucked prayed that Sylvie was alive she had to be. Once Kelly reaches Sylvie it was impulse to kiss her Kelly prayed in that moment that Kelly would wake her up she had to live just had to. Checking Sylvie's pulse as he felt it the beating of her heart Kelly strips Sylvie her leg was caught once she was freed he kicked to the surface "GET HER UP NOW!" Kelly said as he kept her head above water as he did mouth to mouth once she gasped Kelly passed her over as she choked that was good sound to his ears. Kelly walked away shaking just a few moments they had a dirty joke pass between them, a few moments she was in the gym making a promise that she wouldn't be a shadow. Kelly looked towards Sylvie's direction "no Sylvie, no honey you will never be a shadow but one promise don't make fall in love in with you." Kelly said as he whispered once he was getting warmed up Kelly kept watching that burning need to run forward to hug Sylvie as he did on impulse once more as he gripped her she hugged back as he road to the hospital with them. It wasn't until Sylvie's heart crashed how she was just stable then Kelly sees it blood a lot of it. Then rolling her over Kelly sees something shinny as he grabbed tweezers he pulled out a bullet as Gabby was driving "MOVE YOUR ASS DAWSON SHE WAS SHOT!" Kelly said over the sirens as Gabby did trying not to become emotional as Rachel knew the question was on her mind she would ask it after Kelly was elsewhere "your not allowed to die on me damn it baby live." Kelly whispered into Sylvie's ear as he kissed her cheek the promise was going to be broken he wanted Sylvie safe from harm the only thing that he could of is Las Vegas that moment it was Sylvie all Sylvie nobody else would do. Once at the hospital Kelly donated so much blood he almost passed out from the amount of blood for Sylvie's surgery he sat far away from everyone else the feelings he was feeling was scaring him. Kelly's nerves were making him shake all he wanted to do was be by Sylvie's side never let go. However Rachel asked the question "did Leslie ever do something so daring?" The laughter stopped as Matt and Gabby exchanged glances as Gabby got up looked out the window she turned "no, Rachel she never did anything that daring." Gabby said as the woman from the Navy Pier came over "my son is alive thank that paramedic when she gets out of surgery she saved me and my son I will be forever grateful to her." The woman said as they all knew that Sylvie wasn't the eyes of a shadow anymore as Kelly heard that from where he was sitting as the doctor came out Kelly stood as did everyone else "Sylvie is doing very well considering the blood loss she is out of surgery and in recovery she will be heading upstairs to her room momentarily." Will Haltstead said as Kelly shook his hand as he went to the nurses station "going to pay her medical bills don't let know just say it was anonymous on who is paying them keep telling her that the person wants her well and to listen." Kelly said as he walked out the door he went to the water fountain and just went to his knees he cried his eyes out.

Kelly arrived to her room as he kicked off his shoes he climbed into bed just holding her laying his ear to her heart just listening to the beats that lured him to sleep he didn't want to be disturbed just wanted to rest his weary eyes once a sleep Kelly never moved just was thankful that Sylvie was alive and well.

Kelly arrived at Sylvie's apartment building once he parked the rules be damned he would give her something that they both crave something that would never look back on and regret. Kelly locked up his vehicle he walks the flight of stairs that lead to the third floor once he knocked on the door the locks were turning as Sylvie opened the door Kelly kicked it closed turning the main lock he never let go of Sylvie once Sylvie said his name in a whisper "Kelly?" Kelly pinned her wrapping her legs around her as he kissed her Sylvie gasped feeling his tongue enter her they had a heavy make out session with Sylvie pressed against the wall. Kelly let go went to her neck as he left kisses and a mark Sylvie marked him as well their love was forbidden it was horrible to have the burning need but knowing their wasn't a loophole hurt more. Sylvie was itching to take off his shirt to roam her fingers along his chest and rest on his heart that she was itching to kiss. The tears of joy burst from her eyes but that's how Kelly seen it he eases her in his arms as he was careful with laying her on the sofa as he stretched out Sylvie's legs that would be hurting her. Kelly kissed Sylvie's forehead "I know its hard for me to baby I thought of the water rescue driving back from the cabin I was out their thinking of our babies on either side of me us dancing in the moonlight. Swimming in the lake just us skinning dipping the way you feel in my arms as we make love, just everything in that moment all came together." Kelly whispered as Kelly let the tears fall "you entered my heart that day made a promise that day not to fall in love with you but I failed my baby, failed horribly now here we are in a forbidden love with no room to cross that bridge of husband and wife." Kelly whispered as Sylvie just laid on the sofa in thought as the tears fell she would go to Human Resources and talk to someone she loved Kelly this stupid rule wasn't fair "what if I quit my job or place a transfer." Sylvie whispered Kelly was furious with that idea she felt cold "no, then I quit to then what? We would both hate each other now that we are jobless? How fair is that honey honestly Sylvie think more honey because that is an option not seeing you everyday hurts watching you work is exciting its like I am learning something new from you each day. I give you my word that we can be together Sylvie just need to have a conversation with the brass relax for me it will happen we can work together just give me time." Kelly whispered as he let the tears flow from his eyes as he painfully walked out he heard the screaming into the pillow as he shut the door.

Riley wanted learn in school asking the Vega's for anything was like asking for your teeth to be pulled bad enough Mackenzie wasn't able to be school so she left after they went to work. Seeing a public school she didn't have money she sees a grocery store looking for cashier's that was perfect she could learn how do math in three simple steps as Riley Alicia Saint James was going to work and go to school plus chores she had to keep everything hidden to make it look like she was a normal teenager however normal was not the right word nothing was normal living in a racial household, saving a four year old little girl just broke her heart. Riley lied on the paperwork to make her older then what she was. The manager takes one look at the paperwork "your hired get to work. Don't think Riley I know you lied on the application your good I will double your pay to keep you. Rules be damned however you slack I will fire your ass." Riley of course beamed but knew she had to work hard seeing the correct amount of change she was a fast learner only worked on the weekends that was the deal, no asking for extra hours that Riley agreed as well, now to find school seeing a public school that was near the exact grocery store she was pleased they let her in the school by herself something told them that she lied about being in high school once Riley sat down in class she paid attention did what she could for a 13year old girl that had way advanced to get the hell out of the house that was abusive to save her foster sister was another thing all together seeing a flier she reads it smiling Saturday was going to be her game changer, seeing that she doesn't need to lie bringing Mackenzie with her would also might benefit as well into a massive dreams at night. Riley beamed her future looked bright smiling she said out loud "Riley Alicia Saint James Lieutenant in the Chicago Fire Department for Fire Rescue Squad." Riley beamed more as she was so happy she wrote down the homework she kept smiling all day saving the flier she would write down why as she learned her training, now to find where Lincoln Park was located she would find just had to tasting the dreams that were so big and bright mama Fancy would be proud of her for finding the passion she has deep inside herself.
