Chapter 48
When they open the letter from Abra, they realize the letter is from the International Police, so they quickly teleport themselves to the HQ, where Delia, Anabel, and Looker are waiting for them.
Ash asks, "Mom? Why did you call us here?"
Delia says, "Ash, Alice. I have Anabel call you here because I think it is time that you tell them what happened to Team Rocket four years ago."
Ash frowns, "Do I have to? You could just read Nate's novel: Love in the Darkness. He got my permission to write what happened."
Anabel says, "We don't have that much time reading a novel, and even if we read, we are not sure how much is real and how much is original. So please, just answer us. Where were you this time after Team Rocket managed to control everyone? How did you manage to escape the sights of people?"
Ash says, "During that time, I was coming home after becoming the World Champion, and then everyone starts to badmouth me and hurt me. But I was taken to Rota with the help of Arceus. Then the queen suggests me to an Island that is located between Alola and Hoenn, the Sevestar Island."
"I have never heard of the name before..." Looker says. "And you're Alice, Ash's girlfriend I assume?"
"Yes, sir. Ash found me back in the Kalos Pokemon Village, where I was lost due to the blizzard. Then he takes me to Sevestar Island so we can train to stop what is going on with the world."
Anabel nods and says, "So it is you two stop Team Rocket?"
Ash says, "Yes. We do it with Arceus' orders. But there is one thing I want to clarify: When we are facing Giovanni, he tells us about the Control Clouds that he made to control everyone to hate me."
"Control Cloud? What is that?" Looker asks, but Delia says, "It is a forbidden Dark Aura technique. It also strengthens the hatred in the person's heart in the aftermath, but when the control is gone, we won't remember what happened."

Alice says, "We are okay with the names, and I think Ghost Type will be better since my Mom already has a Psychic Type disguise and I can just inherit it."
"Now for the next step, I want to know about your jobs in the International Police. We have General Police, which is doing stuff like recording the crime scene and handcuffing the criminals. We have spies, as they will be blended into the crowd. We also have executioners, which are the ones that deal with the criminals, and we have forensics, which is examining the dead bodies." Anabel says.
"Clearly you have missed one of the jobs." Ash says, and this causes everyone to widen their eyes. Alice asks, "Ash? What are you talking about?"
Ash says, "We are going to be the one job that you missed on purpose, that is, Assassins."
Anabel and Looker are widening their eyes with shock, and Delia only closes her eyes, knowing that the time has finally come. Alice asks, "Ash? Are you serious about this? I thought that Assassins are people who murder an important person for political or religious reasons."
"In this International Police's case, they are dealing with serial killers, dangerous criminals that have difficulty being apprehended, and also Pokemon Hunters, like J, is a famous one. People have good and bad thoughts, and my bad thoughts want me to make those people suffer for what they have done. Not to mention that I also wanted to continue the heritage of the family on my mother's side, but I promise that we won't do anything unless it is your orders."

"We will." Ash and Alice say in unison. Then they are given suits that look like Ninjas, and then they wear them.
Once the two of them head to the training grounds, Looker turns to Delia and asks, "Are you sure you're fine for making your son and your daughter-in-law murderers?"
Delia says, "There are times I regret sharing my old past with my son and my daughter-in-law since I know my son Ash will definitely want to continue our legacy. But what has been said is said, and both of them were already murderers who killed Giovanni and Lysandre respectively. There is no way for dragging them out of the dark path. But the only thing we can do now is to let their light shine in the dark path."
Then they spend a few days training, with Pikachu and Gengar helping them out, and the fact that they have aura weapons, it is easy for them to learn how to use real weapons. Although they make sure not to be just like Delia, who killed her father during the training.

Once they are ready, Delia decides to give them the first mission: To stop the Marowak hunters in Lavender Town.
It is really hard for Ash and Alice, considering that they have to kill the person who has been illegally killing Marowak for their bones. They chase the hunter to the top floor of the place and they tell him to surrender, but before the hunter can say anything, something starts to grab his hand.
"What is that?" The poacher turns around and he sees something terrifying, a zombie-like person that approaches from the ground is grabbing him. "Finally, fresh meat!"
Ash and Alice can only watch in horror that the being eat the hunter alive, Ash says, "That is disgusting...I mean...this is not something we should have seen..."
Alice asks, "So, what about now?"
"I think our mission has succeeded, the hunter is killed...but that monster...it is now targeting us..." Ash says as the Buried Alive is coming closer to them. Ash and Alice try to dodge the monster, but they can't always dodge it. And the fact that the door is locked doesn't help them as well.
"Just great, don't tell me that we are going to be killed just like that poacher..." Alice says as she finally feels fear in her heart. Ash clicks his tongue and then they hear the Buried Alive say, "You're...here...I'm trapped...And I'm lonely...So very lonely...Won't you join me?"
"Trapped..." Ash says. "Maybe there is another way to save that monster..."
Just then, the door suddenly opens, and they hear a voice, "Gengar, use Shadow Ball!"
A Gengar appears in front of Ash and Alice as it sends the Buried alive backward. Ash and Alice turn around and see that their savior is no other than the Saffron City Gym Leader, Sabrina.
"Sabrina?" Ash asks. "What are you doing here?"
"We can talk about it later, Ash. This is Buried Alive, it is a ghost who was trapped here inside the top floor of the Pokemon Tower." Sabrina says.
"So what should we do then?" Alice asks. "How are we going to stop that monster?"
Sabrina says, "We will have to set it free." Her eyes are glowing and she says, "We Psychics are different from Aura Users. We have a lot of Psychic abilities, and for my ability, I can change any person into a doll if I want to. And perhaps it will be working on this doll."
Just then, they can hear the Buried Alive screaming, and eventually, it is not out of their sight, and Sabrina is holding a doll. But as they look at the doll, they see a face that causes them to be surprised: It looks just like a female version of Ash.
"It seems like before this girl becomes that monster, it looks like just like you." Sabrina says as she gives him the doll.
"What do you mean?" Ash asks, but then he widens his eyes. "No...it can't be..."
"Ash? What's wrong? Why are you so surprised?" Alice asks.
Ash says nothing to Alice and he turns to Sabrina, "By the way, thank you, Sabrina, for saving us."
"No problem. Your mother called me to help you since she is worried about you, she probably heard from Anabel that you were taking on this mission and she might have heard about Buried Alive." Sabrina says.
"I see." Ash says. Sabrina says, "And for what happened a few years ago, I am sorry all of that happened..."
"It's fine, it is thanks to Anabel that I learned that Psychics aren't affected by the Control Cloud." Ash says. "Which is a good thing since I can only trust a few."
Gengar also greets Ash as it is the same one that he gives to Sabrina. Ash also sends out his own Gengar as the two of them play pranks with each other.
