"Mmmmm, good choco-milk, it helps when you can't sleep or trying to invent for the Galactic Tech Fair, Lyllie and Nebs are noticing I've not been sleeping great lately, oh well." a voice said belonging to Rocket who was feeling restless, frustrated that he hadn't came up with something for thecTech Fair and to make his mind more excited, his favourite inventor whomwas his inspiration growing up Jackie La Rouute was the judge so wanted to impress her.
It also happened tombe three in the morning, Galactic Standard Time and he'd been trying to sleep but thinking about the Tech Fair, but also nightmares aboutvOrgoscope and thecHigh Evloutionary had made him restless and had gotten out of bed because he figured a drink might sooth his mind and body so when stressed or feeling blue, chocolate solved those feelings and they had Nutella, chocolate-milk in the fridge then Nebula had chocolate only that was for when he was blue so decided against this, but maybe he could just enjoybthe Tech Fair and notventer, looking at his trophies from past years.
You know you want to, Rocket, Jackie would want to see what you build, she's your hero and we can't let her down, she gave us her title and made us her heir.
He frowned in response to that thought but he'd been busy being a Guardian, he hadn'thad much time for inventing looking atvthe clock on the comm phone on his furry wrist, sunrise was approaching so was deciding a warm shower would relax him into sleeping yawning sluggishly heading tomthe bathroom taking off his lounge pyjamas putting them in the laundry basket activating the shower after stepping in, smiling feeling the warm water like a blanket wrapping around hik which was helpihg, getting out afterca while dryijg off after his fur fluffed up, relieved Quill never saw this dressing in clean armour.
"?.. Rocket you're up already, you weren't up all night were you." he heard Lylla say.
"I'm up Lylla and just had a shower, I have to look good for Jackie." he mumbled.
He still felt tired likeca tablet uncharged, heading to the main kitchen but the others noticed hecwas wearing safety goggles but Nebula frowned seeing how tired he looked knowing he'd not been getting enough sleep hearing manybyawns from him, plus he'd pit Nutella in his coffee guessing he was feeling spacey hearing Quill and Drax chuckle as he drank it but then he faceplanted in his eggs having ketchup on his furry cheeks makijg Lylla grossed out, thinking it was something else.
"No it's ketchup, he zoned out." Nebula said making her frown.
Lylla was about to lecture her furboy until Ranger and Riley ran inside saying their mom wason the news astounding the others seeing Roxy on the news hearing thecNovacore had arrested her and she was due to stand trial meaning they'd have to testify against her which made Rocket's blood runnclld, putting a paw on his armoured chest where his heart was, making the others surprised by his reaction, he'd been like this lately which bothered Lylla and Nebula seeing him getting up.
"…. E-Excuse me." he said choked up running out of there.
"Oh vey." Nebula muttered softly as Lylla agreed.
"We should check on him, we're his older sibs." Ranger told them seeing Riley agree, as they, Lylla and Nebula were about to gomto check on him hearing howl-like crying making them exchange a look, deciding to go check on him pouring a tall flask of chocolate-milk as it might ease his sadness headingvto Rocket's door, as Nebula opened it seeing a certain furboy sittijg on the floor with his eyes closed with tears dripping down his furry cheeks as they understood.
"I think mom's trial set him off, like Orgascope." Ranger whispered seeing Riley nodding in reply.
"O-Oh hey guys what's up, I'm okay, I just needed aloje-time." Rocket told them snifflihg wiping tears away drinkijg some chocolate milk as chocolate boosted happiness hormones so it made him feel a lil better but they hugged him hearing Lylla ask what was bothering him.
"I've been having trouble sleeping lately, after everything lately including the youknowwho." he admitted.
"And mom's trial just made it worse right, bro." Ranger said seeing him nod.
"Ohhhhh there's nothijg wrong in askingbfor help." Lylla told him.
"I know that, but just tired…" he muttered zoning out resting his furry head on Lylla's chest which they found sweet guessing they should let him rest then talk to him as Nebula carried him gently tomhis bed tucking him in with Lylla's help kissing his furry lil head
"Love you you know, we'll talk some more later." Lylla whispered into his furry ear, as they left him be
"Ohhhh man, Rocket's favourite day of the year and he's missing it, plus Jackie's here." Quill said to Nebula
"Yeah but he's tired and resting right now, so you should leave him be." she told him enjoying the Tech-Fair knowing Rocket would be in his element if he was here and in the mood, seeijg Lylla agreeing seeing Jackie approaching them, noticing a certain furry inventor wasn't with them or entered the Tech-Fair.
"He's not feeling so great but he's resting, plus he got some news that freaked him out." Quill said to her
"It's tomdo with Roxy right, yes I know, we talk on video-chat but he was so excited about today." she replied.
She then was writing something on paper with a pen, giving it tomNebula telling hervtomgive it to Rocket as it might help him seeing Nebula nodding as shecand Lylla were checking on him later hoping he was feeling a little better as hearing him cry had startled them but would give him his space
"Hey, you seem a lil better and guess the nap,helped you out, but you need help and don't be embarrassed to ask, or that you're scared." Lylla said to Rocket later hanging out in his room.
"I'm scared alright." he blurted out.
"About what Roxy mightvdo, if you testify against her." Lylla replied to him noticing he was holding the piece of paper Jackie had given Nebula whichbhad Jackie's number on it which he'd put intomhis contacts on his phone after wakijg up from sleeping which had been peaceful for once.
"Yes she might comecafter me and hurt you and my friends like scared the High Evloutionary might come after us." he admitted sniffling feeling herhug him tight assuring him that wouldn't happen.
