My pov
Today is the choosing ceremony . I know that I will leave abnegation for Alan. I like him from the deepest part of my heart and I know it right away when I saw him yesterday night. He is kind and gentle. He doesn't care that I am a stiff or not like other dauntless and erudite .
I sleep in bed until the bird is chirping. I get up from the bed and dress up in to my grey robe. Abnegation do not use any decorations because they see them as impractical and self indulgent. However we can wear watch because they have a practical reason for it.
I braided my hair up into a knot and I wash my face in order for myself to look fresh and pretty. The day after today ， I will be sleeping in dauntless bunk bed as I believe and I will become one of them even without Alan's support.
"Delia， breakfast time is here! Come down stair!" My mom is calling me"oh I am coming . I am just cleaning myself ."
I open the door and walk downstair. Everyone are ready for me and I feel very embarrassed about it.
"Morning guys, I was just dressed up myself." I sit down
"I know why you want to dress up nicely." Father says it coldly"for Alan Davis right? I don't mind you two to be together but why you guys seeing each other secretly at night?"
He knows about our meeting! I am so shocked. My mom said that she puts him into sleep mode with sleep tablet on purpose but why he still knows about it.
"How did you know dad!" I put down my folk and stop eating.
"Andrew it is okay. It is her freedom to do whatever she wants . She is already 16years old." My mom sighs"you know the story between me and his dad right?"
"Yes that right. However she was against the faction's rule." My father gets up suddenly"Alan is even a lieutenant for max "
I know my father hates max so Lucy but he can't assume all his people are doing the same thing that he is doing .
"Dad you miss understand him okay! Alan is a good man!" I am crying
Beatrice hugs me in her arm. My tears come out of my eyes so quickly like a waterfall. I like Alan which is the truth that no one can ever change that.
"Do your own way then. I will go to the ceremony earlier" Dad leaves the house.
"Mom ." I look at mom desperately"what should I do that"
"Nothing, you are doing everything you want that is okay. Your father will understand you." Mom touches my head
Alan Davis's pov
Today I have to get to the choosing ceremony with Max. I will show max that Delia will choose me not him. I stretch myself out and take a shower nicely.I put on the body wash so I can smile good. I am singing a song like when I was small because I try to be happy.
"Alan, we have to go in next ten minutes." Max is calling me.
"Yes I will come out very soon." I yell back at max"I am just taking a shower !"
I finish shower very quickly and get the towel on my body. I wipe my self dry and dress up into my uniform. I put on a little perfume as well and hope Delia will like it.
I open the door . Max and Amar are there facing me. Amar is one of the instructor of dauntless and he is also going with max and me.
"Morning Alan, someone is in love ?" Amar giggles.
"Amar shut up !" I am so shy.
"Come ! We will be late Alan." Max runs first and waves at us .
I and Amar chase after max and leave the dauntless compound . The train is arrive at the spot . Three of us hop on to the train without effort, it is so easy for us
"All right, we are just on time." Amar watches his watch
"Yes, Alan you are so deep into Delia!" Max pushes me.
"And you too as well max, don't blame on me." I roll my eyes at him
Amar just looks at both of us because he is the one who hasn't got any girl yet.
"Are you guys seriously interesting in the same girl ?" Amar folded his arms in front of his chest
"We are competing with each other fairly." Max shrugs
"Who is Delia that i am curious of . Why she is so attractive ? I don't understand okay!" Amar shakes his head"is she Zeke's ex girlfriend?"
Amar knows about Zeke and his ex girlfriend because he told him.
"How do you know? Only I and Zeke know ." I am so surprised
"Zeke told me about it." Amar acts casual
We have arrive at abnegation headquarter now and three of us jump off the train track and landed on the roof top.
"Go quicker guys , follow up." Max starts to climb down the building.
"Sure max, you are always this hurry." I complain
"We can't be late otherwise, they will laugh at us." Max gives me a pointed look
We start climbing too and when we reach the floor, we are safe.
"Let's go."
My pov
We arrive at the choosing ceremony and there are crowd of people from every faction. Dauntless are laughing and shouting. I see my father looks at them with a disgust look. I feel super sad about it. My father should be respectful which is always what he teaches us.
"Delia?" Someone is calling me
"Abby?" I lift my eyes and seeing my best friend Abby standing right there
"You are so pretty today." She comes to me and hugs me
Her auntie is Jeanine Matthew but she is better than her. So my dad does let us to be friends.
"I heard some romantic rumour about you and one of the lieutenant for max. Is that right?" Abby giggles"oh someone is here for you."
I turn around and see Alan Davis is here with two other men.
"Morning Delia, you look pretty today." Alan leans closer to me
"Hey hey hey do not kiss in front of me." Max covers his eyes.
"Max please , I am not going to kiss her please" Alan laughs so loud
I look at the man whose name is max. He is familiar likes I saw him somewhere else.
"You look somewhat familiar." I bite my finger
"Don't talk to our leader like that silly girl." The young man who is standing beside him said
"It's okay Amar . I remember you Delia prior. Once I wasn't leader yet, I fall from the train track and you are the one who go get the nurse with your mom."
It is him! I open my eyes wider. I can't remember who he is but when I turn back to Alan, I see he has a sad look. Is he jealous of max and me? Why he should be jealous? I hold his hand secretly and squeeze it
"It's okay. I don't even remember it." I say it in a low voice
Abby comes to me again . She smiles at all of us
"I am Abby. Delia's best friend . Nice to meet you guys." Abby takes out her hand
Alan doesn't take it. Amar comes up and takes her hand to shake
"I am Amar . One of the instructor in dauntless." Amar nods at his at her
Abby takes back her hand but is still looking at Amar . Alan looks at the seat at the back
"We should go back to the last row." He pointing at the line of the initiates who are standing behind"we are going to start the ceremony pretty soon."
I follow him to the last row and see our neighbourhood Robert black is standing there. He is also going to choose .
Alan Davis's pov
I lead Delia gets to the last row in order to avoid her dad because I see her dad is looking at us with angry eyes. Once my mom told me that eyes can actually kill people by setting them on fire.
I am still unhappy about that Delia still remember the time that she was taking care of max in hospital. I really wish that person was me.
"Is he your friend?" I see an abnegation boy who is asking Delia.
"Yes we are best friends or even better than best friend." Delia looks at me and her face is even pure red
"Oh I see, nice to meet you then." The boy nods at me"my name is Robert black"
Robert black's father is a famous business man in the city and we all know him well.
"I know your father very well." I say it coldly.
The ceremony is about to start. Jeanine Matthew walks to the stage . She is going to speak for the opening ceremony then Marcus Eaton is going to give out the knife.
"Delia prior." Her name is being called
She comes down the stair and brushes my hand before she gets on the stage. I wish that she can choose dauntless but I don't want her to feel unhappy. If she still chooses abnegation, I may leave dauntless for her.
I used to work in the control room because I want to leave dauntless anytime I want. Now I hear a sound of sizzling coals.
"Dauntless" Marcus Eaton announces her decision"you may go back to the seat over there."
Abnegation members sigh so heavily that every of us can hear it. I go up to her and she seems sad.
"It will be alright. Everything will go back to normal after we finish the ceremony." I help her to sit down and she looks at me .
"Really? Will it really go back to normal?" She hugs me"I leave abnegation especially for you Alan."
I have an electric shock . I see max is looking at us and he turns his body and leaves the room. He is very sad and I know why he is sad.
"I will not let you disappointed okay Delia. I promise you . I will protect you away from every dangerous situation" I say it very kindly .
"Thank you Alan. I trust you." She wipes her own tears away from her face
I get up and standing beside her seat. She is now looking back her parent. I carefully guide her face back for her to look forward
"Don't look, that's will make better for you to forget." I pat her on her back
"Okay." She settles down now
