I have a date with Peter Parker today.

A date.

With Peter Parker.

Pizza and a movie.

So it's more of a casual hangout… date.

Right?

Ugh. I'm hopeless.

I blew the hair away from my face in exasperation.

"Phoebe!" I called as I left my room. Peering into the kitchen, I saw her looking through a Traditional Home magazine.

She glanced up and probably noticed my frazzled state.

"What's going on?"

"I don't know what to wear." I flopped on the couch in defeat.

"Well you can't go out wearing that defeated attitude," she joked with a chuckle.

"Hardy Har Har." Sinking my face into the couch cushion, I groaned. "I have a date," I muffled.

It must have been crystal clear because I heard Phoebe rush over.

"That cute boy that walks with you to school? May's nephew?" She asked excitedly.

Lifting my head up, I nodded.

She had a huge smile on her face, "So you agree? That Peter is cute?"

I felt a flush rise to my cheeks, "Did you just pull a Regina George on me?"

She laughed as she nodded. "But in all seriousness, that is wonderful! He seems like a good kid."

"He's great."

"What time is the date?"

"5?" I double-checked the text and confirmed.

"Well, get up lazy bones. We're going to raid that closet of yours!"

A knock was heard.

"Oh! He's here! And right on time too," Phoebe stated as she nodded in approval while glancing at her watch. "I'll go get that and I'll yell for you to greet him."

She scurried out.

I heard her muffled greeting as I made my way to the front.

Peter's hair was combed neatly to the side as he spoke with Phoebe.

It was different compared to his usual tousled locks.

He had a bright smile on his face and his gaze turned my way.

Swiftly directing my gaze elsewhere, I picked the imaginary lint off my blouse.

"Oh there you are, Ophelia! I was just telling Peter how ecstatic you were about the date."

Oh my goodness…

I felt my face burn in embarrassment from her words. Now, it'll seem like I'm desperate or something.

"You ready to go, Lia?" Peter asked.

"Yes. I'll see you later, Phoebe."

She kissed my head and waved us off.

As we walked toward the elevator, we heard two familiar voices calling after us.

"Keep it PG you two!"

"So the new Star Wars movie is out. Did you get to see it yet?" He asked as we stood in line at the cinema waiting for our turn to get tickets.

"No. Not yet. It honestly slipped my mind. With the play and everything… but-"

"We can always watch something else. There's this.. romcom mo-"

"I'm cool with Star Wars. I didn't get to see it. Did you end up seeing it with Ned?"

I definitely did not want to watch a romcom on the first date. I'm not really into those and he didn't seem the type either.

He shook his head. "Nah. I've been busy too. The internship and stuff."

"What do you do for the Stark internship?"

"Well.. you know.. Oh! Look! We're next."

Okay?

"Two tickets for Star Wars, please," he said.

As the ticket guy said the price, I gave my half of the portion.

Peter gently placed his hand over mine.

"I got this," Peter said as he handed over the cash.

"Are you sure?" I asked as he grabbed the tickets.

"I wanted to. Besides, I was the one who asked you out so..."

I felt my cheeks flush at his words.

"Thank you. I'll get us snacks then." We headed toward the concession area. I grabbed the bag of gummy worms and waited for our turn. "We'll definitely get these. You like popcorn, right? Oh! And should we get slushies or just soda?" I asked as my eyes scanned the menu.

"How'd you know I like gummy worms?" He asked.

I lifted a brow, "Who said it's for you?"

"Well… I.. umm."

I laughed as he tried to formulate an answer.

"I'm just teasing. You always get gummy worms when we get sandwiches and I figured you wouldn't object to some now."

He wordlessly stared as I placed the packet in his hand.

"Come along, padawan. The theater is this way."

"Did you see the way they took down the Praetorian Guard? That was crazy!" Peter exclaimed as we munched on our pepperoni slices right outside of the pizza parlor.

I nodded in agreement and took a sip of Sprite. "You know. I wonder what that blue milk tastes like that Luke had," I stated as I looked at the cup in my hand. "As weird as that scene was, you can't tell me you're not curious."

He had a grossed out look on his face, "Not at all."

I shrugged with a small smile on my face as I continued to eat.

"This pizza is really good," I stated, grabbing my second slice.

"Definitely. Uh, you got a bit of sauce on your face," he said as he gestured to the corner of his mouth.

"Is it gone?" I asked as I wiped the spot.

He shook his head and I wiped again.

"Here. I got it."

Peter leaned closer to me and I felt his thumb brush against the corner of my bottom lip.

He was so close.

I felt his breath against my lips as his gaze never tore away from that area.

I stared intently, anticipating his next move.

His eyes flickered to mine before landing on my lips again.

My eyes fluttered shut as I leaned in.

Sirens blared and I felt him lean away.

Opening my eyes, I saw his attention following the cop cars that raced by.

I felt disappointment and a tinge of hurt flow through me.

"I gotta go," Peter abruptly said as he hastily grabbed his backpack.

I couldn't even get a word in as he ran off.
