"WOAH!"

"See, pretty amazing to see what they are working on up close." Kohaku introduced her sister to the work that the scientists of the village would spend all of their time doing.

Ruri was all better.

She was all better, and was able to move freely in the village. Naruto had told her to at least stay in the village for 2 months, just for her own safety and recovery, since she went for a long period of time without being able to move her body properly. It was dangerous for her to leave the safety of the village until her body got used to moving around and exerting her stamina.

2 months.

Long enough for her belly to grow enough that nobody could misunderstand the fact that she was pregnant, but not long enough to really make her feel any certain way. She was still jumping around the trees and doing most of her usual physical work, though Naruto would give her butt a smack whenever he caught her overdoing it in any way.

"Ruri! Hey Senku, Ruri is here to check up on us."

"Oh, so it isn't just the Gorilla this time?" Senku asked.

'Gorilla?' Ruri looked at her sister with some confusion, while Kohaku just sucked on her teeth with clear irritation. She looked like she was going to hit the boys for that. Her sister just took a deep breath, before she smiled.

"I'm going to go help the farmers with their wheat harvest... so..."

"Stay here Gorilla Mama, Naruto gave me explicit instructions that if I let you do farm work, that he is going to break my arm." Senku grabbed Kohaku by the wrist and just stopped her from walking towards the farm, where they were a ton of villagers that were all harvesting the crops that had been planted. In the 2 months, everything was ready to harvest and even be expanded upon.

Kohaku just walked anyway.

"Yeah, you can't stop me Senku."

"Crap!?" Senku got dragged along by Kohaku and her superior strength, with him not being able to do so much as slow her down.

Kaseki stood in front of Kohaku.

He was holding a cloth package.

"Can you take this to Naruto for us. He asked us to make this for him, with these exact specifications to their design. If you deliver them, they will stay safe." Kaseki just gave Kohaku a task to do, so she stopped walking towards the farm. She accepted the package and just gave a subtle nod of her head.

"Sure."

-On the Walk-

'Magma... he tried to kill Naruto awhile back...' Kohaku saw Magma heading towards the farm with his minion walking behind him. He made eye contact with her, and he looked at her stomach.

He scratched his cheek as they got closer to passing each other.

"... Good on you, I guess... pregnant is a good look for you... maybe tell your husband that... thanks for the delicious food." Magma stopped looking her in the eye, and they passed by each other. She stopped walking and turned around to watch him walk off, since that was all that Magma had said she was left wondering.

She smiled.

"You know, you could just say Naruto is a good chief... but thanks, I'll let him know." Kohaku heard him scoff, but she turned back around and continued to walk.

-In the Village-

Kohaku saw Naruto with the children of the village.

"... Kohaku, shouldn't..." Naruto saw the small package in Kohaku's hands, so he stopped questioning her on why she was back in the village so soon. Kohaku for her part noticed that Naruto wasn't playing with the children, but he was teaching them.

He had Suika in his lap though for some reason, while many of the other kids were sitting in front of him.

"Kohaku!"

"Hey kids... Hey Suika..." Kohaku always found Suika to be the cutest of all of the village children. She was one of the smallest children, and they way she wore a melon on her head just enhanced her cuteness. "So, what are you kids learning about?" Kohaku asked them.

"SEX!"

"Not sex, I'm teaching them the different roles that boys and girls have. I'm also asking them what they want to be, and who they want to be like. That way, I can let them apprentice with grown ups." Naruto smacked one of the kids on the forehead for that joke. Technically, by telling the difference of the genders he was teaching a sex-ed class, but that was as far as it went.

Each of the kids all had a piece of leather in their hands, each with the name of a couple of villagers on it.

Suika didn't have one.

"I don't know what I want to do... none of the jobs..."

"It's okay Suika, you'll find your niche one day too. You're still a kid. The rest of you, go find the adults and tell them to teach you about what they do in the day." Naruto assigned the other kids to go do what they had been taught. He wanted them all to become experts in a craft one day, and for them to take lessons from adults 3 to 4 times a week during the day, for a few hours at a time.

He wanted them to learn, get experience, and to grow. The older the kids got, the more he would assign them to spend time learning under the adults who would be teaching them skills.

"But I want to be useful to the village."

"Suika, you're 10 years old... enjoy being a kid a little longer. Did Kaseki ask you to deliver that?" Naruto asked Kohaku as he gestured to the package. She nodded and passed it over to him, without saying a word at all. She just gazed at him unwrapping it, and she just saw glass. The same material that Naruto had Chrome and Kaseki making to place on the windows of the village.

In 2 months, the village had changed as well.

Different homes were being built, and older homes were being torn down to make way for the studier homes that Naruto was teaching people to build. The elderly already had their homes replaced first, and according to them it stayed cooler in the summer, though it was getting closer to Fall now. The preparations for winter were coming along, and other than there being a furnace attached to each home being built, the layout was mostly the same.

It was just being updated.

The bridge was VERY different though.

The older bridge connecting the villages had been replaced by a fully wooden bridge, wide enough that 3 people could walk together on the bridge, side by side. It no longer shook in the wind due to being completely wooden. The village was slowly but surely changing for the more convenient, though not everyone of working age spent most of their day working pretty hard.

Only the elderly, some women, and kids spent most of their time in the village itself.

"These are glasses. Suika, here..." Naruto pushed one of the glass circles into the holes in Suika's melon. He added the second right after. "... Better?"

Suika was just in a stunned silence as she looked through the glass.

"Better?" Kohaku asked with crossed arms, not understanding why Naruto shoved glass into the melon helmet that Suika wore.

"... way better... WAY BETTER! My fuzzy sickness!"

"Suika had the fuzzy sickness!?" Kohaku asked in shock for a moment. "... Oh wait, I already knew that... you talked with me about it awhile back before bed." Kohaku blushed when she realized Naruto had told her most of this stuff. She forgot a lot of the stuff he would tell her before they went to bed.

Kinro started to walk across the bridge.

He was with a strangely dressed man who was tied up.

"Who is that?" Suika asked.

"... I know that asshole, he is a famous mentalist... that is Gen Asagiri." Naruto recognized who the captured person was without even needing to be introduced. He could recognize a scumbag from a mile away, and those who enjoyed their time in the TV spotlight were especially on his list of scum. He was a tv personality, but at the same time he was the type of person that would work for his own benefit because of it. '... meaning his willpower is too weak for him to have stayed awake in stone... he was revived.' Naruto put that together.

He was too well dressed for somebody who woke up on his own.

"Why, hello Naruto! I've heard of you, you mind telling this guy to-"

"Kill him." Naruto gave the simple order for that.

"Excuse me!?" Gen shouted in shock when Naruto's very first response was just flat out to have Gen killed, instead of dealing with him at ball.

"Simple, I know who you are, and the only reason you're here would be to be a spy of some sort, maybe Tsukasa is looking for Senku and wants to start a war over it... so... the easiest and quickest solution is just kill you now." Naruto started to walk towards Gen.

Gen turned tail and ran.

Nope.

Naruto got to him and wrapped a hand around his neck, and that was it.

"Why not let him live... I mean, Senku is pretty valuable to the village." Kohaku reasoned with Naruto. She just had her arms crossed. "He could prove pretty valuable?" Kohaku wasn't even sure of that herself though. "Even if he IS with that Tsukasa guy, this guy seems pretty weak." Kohaku saw Naruto's grip tightened.

*SNAP*

"Sorry, but I'm not taking a chance. I'm not just protecting the village, I'm protecting you, and our child as well." Naruto took no chances with the life of HIS unborn child with the possibility of a coming war. He ended it by simply snapping Gen's neck, and he handed the corpse back to Kinro. "... least the corpse in the forest. Eventually, somebody else Tsukasa sends or an animal will find him. Let this be a message though." Naruto wanted the message to be loud and clear.

He didn't hestitate to kill those who could be a threat to his family, his village.

End of story.

"Wow, you really killed him." Suika didn't even seem that surprised. She was pale, but overall she seemed pretty accepting of it.

Actually, nobody really seemed to care that an outsider was dead.

"Right... right, I keep forgetting that. You're right, but couldn't we have won him over to our side?" Kohaku asked Naruto.

"We could have... but like I said, I'm not taking a risk with the lives of my people. If it were just me I may take the risk, Gen isn't like Senku... while Senku has to earn my trust, Gen already had my distrust simply because this guy was a TV star I had heard about." Naruto felt his good mood go sour suddenly thanks to the action he took. "Anything that threatens the survival of this village dies." Naruto repeated.

"Even if it means killing a human?"

Senku walked up with a box in his hand.

"Even if it means killing a human. There are currently 5 pregnant women in the village, and 19 children. There are only 70 people of working age, and 13 elderly... we have 16 working guns right now. The fact is, eventually Tsukasa will come... he just sent a spy, no doubt to look for you... but you're too valuable to the village to give to Tsukasa." Naruto had plenty of reasons to kill Gen.

"Yeah, I guess you have a point... but are you okay with killing people, because I'm not cool with that." Senku placed the box on the ground in front of Naruto. "I would rather not use my science for the war."

"I'm not asking you to, just use your science to make the lives of these people better. Of course, if you think you can use science to peacefully bring the war to an end... you can do that too." Naruto was perfectly fine if Senku wanted to find a way to stop the conflict without violence.

The fact was this.

The amount of pure luck, the pure bullshit levels of good luck and finding everything needed to do that was just not odds he was willing to bet the lives of his people on. It was a fool's all or nothing bet, and while if he was just betting his own life on it, he may do it.

Not his village's life.

Not his child's life.
