Julie was excited when she found out that she had gotten the lead in Cinderella. She rode her bike to the hospital where her mother was waiting with Mr. Monk to tell her the great news.
"Mom," Julie exclaimed, "I got the part. I'm playing Cinderella."
"That's wonderful honey," Natalie said, "How did you get here?"
"I rode my bike," Julie said, "I already called Dad and told him the great news. Where's Mr. Monk?"
"He's just talking to Lark and America," Natalie said, "He should be in the waiting room soon."
"Mom," Julie asked, "Do you think he'll be okay?"
Natalie smiled. She knew Adrian Monk would be alright.
"Of course, he will be," she said.
They couldn't lose Mr. Monk.
The IV was put in Adrian's arm. "The medication I'm giving you," Dr. Gold said, "Will make feel very relaxed. We'll put you to sleep when it's time for the surgery."
Adrian nodded.
"Thank you," he said to Dr. Gold.
Adrian lay on the bed. Dr. Gold had left his room. A few seconds after Dr. Gold had left, Adrian saw the angel, Mery floating above his bed.
"You are an amazing man, Adrian," she told him, "And now because you have done so much GOD has chosen to reward you."
Adrian smiled.
"You asked me about six months ago if you knew me. GOD is letting you see who I am… and allowing you to have the greatest gift of your heart."
Mercy suddenly disappeared and Adrian felt a hand holding his own.
"Adrian," a gentle voice said.
Adrian looked to his side. He nearly gasped and caught his breath.
"Oh my GOD," he whispered.
"I couldn't tell you," Trudy explained, "GOD wouldn't allow me to tell you. He wanted to know if you would do the right thing for the sake of doing the right thing."
"Did GOD get Julie sick," Adrian asked.
"No. Julie was already sick. The bomb was already in the prop car. GOD just turned it into something good."
"But what if I had made the wrong choice," Adrian asked.
"You made all the right choices," Trudy said, "I'm so proud of you Adrian."
She stood and bent forward to kiss him on the lips. Adrian finally relaxed.
"How long are you back for," Adrian asked.
Trudy smiled.
"A long time," she said.
He sat up in bed.
"Forever?" he asked.
"Let's just enjoy now," Trudy said.
The doctor came out.
"Hello Mr. Monk, Mrs. Monk," he said, "It's time to put you to sleep."
Trudy kissed him.
"I'll be right there waiting for you when you wake up Adrian," she promised.
