The Injustice League and all of its members were defeated, and the battle was over. The League itself stood in front of the grave of Diana Prince, whose casket was closed for those who knew and remembered her as Diana and not Wonder Woman.
She would have wanted to go out wearing the armor she was proud to wear. Everyone eventually left except for members of the League for a more private goodbye to their fallen friend. Ross, Kaine, and even their new sister made their appearance. They all knew Diana one way or another, except for the young girl who had yet to be given a proper name. Miles' funeral was just a few days ago, and the League wanted to honor both of the two, even though Miles never made it to an official member.
"We do not enter the field of battle lightly," Bruce said as he gave the speech he had prepared. "Neither in heart, nor body, nor mind. Nor do we exit it lightly. We leave a piece of ourselves behind in those whom we inspire. Diana inspired people long before any of us. And it's up to us to now continue that legacy. To keep her light shining. She believed in what we were doing. She believed in the League. They wanted her death to divide us, but it made us stronger in the end. Diana Prince, Princess of Themyscira... will never be forgotten."
What the public did not know at the time was that the casket had been closed for another reason. It was empty.
"So, she's just going to be taken back to Themyscira?" Teresa asks as the group splits off to return to Peter's place for a celebration in Diana's honor.
"Some warriors somehow knew she fell...said there's a special place for those who fall in battle. They have ceremonies of their own." Peter explained and sighed. "It's not much, but it's what she deserves."
"Gabriel?" Sarah was slightly concerned about her brother.
Bruce said as he and Clark approached, "He's being treated at Arkham Asylum. Getting the best treatment that we can give."
"The rest of the Injustice League are now being thrown into the prisons that they deserve to be in," Clark said with hate in his voice. "He'll be okay."
"We also gave him the treatment that I and Jessica made," Zatanna added. "He seemed better after the formula was removed."
"As good as one can get," Jessica shrugged. He wasn't exactly better, just...less insane. "Well, I'll be leaving now."
"Hey, where are you headed?" Peter asked curiously about where Jessica was going.
Jessica shrugged. "It's a big world. New York has one Spider-Man. The rest of the world can benefit from having more of us."
"Yeah, so we're both going to be leaving." Kaine agreed as he approached. "Going our separate ways."
"Hope this isn't the last we see of each other," Zatanna said as she hugged Jessica. "It's kinda nice having a Peter who understands me."
"Hey, don't give him so little credit. I'm just his reincarnation." Jessica stated as she walked away. "Are you sure about keeping Ross and the girl?"
"Yeah, we'll keep them safe," Peter promised as he took the young clone. "After all, they're family."
"And we still have to think of a name for this one," Zatanna added as she ruffled up the little one's hair.
She giggled a little, apparently unable to speak yet.
Peter promises, "We'll take care of that once we have everyone settled in."
"Yeah, you got three new kids in the span of a week," Sarah chuckled as she was also offered a chance to stay with Peter.
Clark then gave Peter a look, seemingly trying to tell him something. "Actually, Z...there's something I wanna do first."
Zatanna wondered what was up and looked at him. "And what's that?"
"Well, it seems that not only have we done practically everything in reverse, with us now having a teenage daughter," Peter gestured to Sarah. "A young boy." He pointed to Ross, who was talking with Barry and Victor. "And not to mention this one." He points to the young girl holding Zatanna's leg. "But I think we should at least make it official that we are a family." He grabs Zatanna's hand and gets down on one knee, presenting the box and ring. "Zatanna Zatara, will you marry me?"
Zatanna was shocked when she saw this, but weirdly enough, she saw it as sweet. "Took you fucking long enough," she said.
They lost friends. They lost a member of their family. But in the end, they still found a way to shine light in the darkness.
The Justice League will return in...
