It was registration time for the spring semester at PCU. Trina had just finished registering for her next group of classes and was heading for the discount bookstore just off campus when she bumped into Joss, who was heading for the student union. Both girls blushed and then laughed when they saw who they had bumped into.

"Trina! I should have known that you'd be here on campus, getting ready for the next semester!" Joss laughed.

"Of course, I'm just surprised to see you here. Usually you leave it all for the last minute," Trina giggled, impressed that her friend seemed to have it all together for once. Not that Joss ever slacked on her studies, it was just that Trina was the one obsessed over academics while Joss was more laid back.

"Well, I decided it'd be best to have all my ducks in a row this time. That way, I have more free time for Dex and Volley ball and I won't be rushing around campus like a chicken with it's head cut off," Joss shrugged. "Where are you headed now? I was just heading to the student union. I heard there's a new restaurant there that I want to try."

"Oh, just to that discount bookstore, not that it helps. The books are still ridiculously high."

Joss sighed and laughed. "Mrs. Cassadine. It's not like you can't afford it!"

"I know, I know. It's just hard to get used to is all," Trina shrugged.

Joss's smile faded a little, remembering what Dex had shared with her the night before. This should be a happy time for Trina, but instead, true to form, Spencer was ruining that happiness! She could kill him for pulling this on her friend! She knew that his interest in Trina was too good to be true! He was just a user, just as she thought! Trina deserved better.

"What?" Trina frowned, seeing her friend's expression darken.

Joss sighed, hating that she was going to have to be the one to break her friend's heart. "Trina...can we talk? I have something to tell you and it's pretty bad…"

Trina frowned. What bad thing did Joss have to tell her. The clear pity in Joss's eyes chilled her. What did Joss have to pity her about? "What is this about?"

Spotting a bench near by, Joss pulled Trina over to it and had her sit down. "Look, I wasn't there, but Dex was and I trust Dex. He wouldn't lie."

"Alright."

Joss took a deep breath, hating herself for having to break this news and hating Spencer for doing something that would put her in this position. But if she didn't tell Trina now and Trina found out she knew, she'd lose her.

"Well...Dex was outside of Kelly's on a lunch run for Sonny...when he saw the car that Sonny had brought Spencer. The hood was up and the windows were foggy, and then he saw a hand slam up against the glass window...like on Titanic. It was obvious what was going on in that car. Trina, I am so sorry, but Spencer is cheating on you. I knew he was a jerk that couldn't be trusted...but to use you like this and…"

"Hold up," Trina folded her arms, her voice void of the mixture of embarrassment and anger that was swirling inside her. She couldn't believe this! "So, Dex sees some lustful action going on in the backseat of Spencer's car and he thinks that Spencer is cheating with some side piece?"

"Well...no, he didn't say that. He said that he witnessed Spencer Cassadine getting on in the back seat of his new car and wondered if we should try the same thing...and well, I knew that you're more classy than that and…"

"So you just assume that Spencer was getting it on with some strange adventurous woman and not his wife, who is so vanilla, she would never?!" Trina's anger was quickly taking over the embarrassment. Not only was Joss once again dissparaging her husband without knowing what she was talking about, but she was just making assumptions about Trina's own wants and needs when it came to sexual activities! The girl had some nerve! And this wasn't the first time Joss had made a dig about her and Spencer's relationship!

"Trina, Spencer is cheating on you with some hoe, he didn't even have the decency to get a cheap hotel room!"

"Oh, now I'm a hoe? Thanks a lot!"

"What? I never…"

"Joss, since you must know, the girl in the backseat of Spencer's car was not some strange hoe!"

"What?"

"What? You think that I don't have the ability to have sex with my own husband in the back seat of a car? That I'm not capable doing such a thing? Well, let me clear up that assumption for you! I am the hoe in the backseat of Spencer's car and I have no regrets about it!"

"Oh my god, Trina...I'm so sorry...I didn't know…"

"No, you just thought that you had something that you can yet again slander my husband over and tear me down a peg or two once again!" Trina's anger was in full force as her mind took a trip down memory lane, pointing out times when Joss either said something degrading about Spencer, or did something that had put Trina in second place once again. The trip was making her see Joss in a whole new light. Maybe her best friend wasn't as friendly as she had once thought she was, and to be honest, the realization was breaking her heart.

"What? Trina, no! I was just trying to help!"

"Help? Why in the world would you think that a newly married young man who your friend just married was having an affair?! Your man didn't even imply that! You came up with that in your own deranged mind!"

"Trina…"

"No! No, Joss, I've had it! I took you talking smack about Spencer for long enough, but now he's officially my man! My husband and I will not let you do it anymore! You've slandered Spencer and mine name for the last time!"

"Trina…"

"I can't believe I never noticed it, but I sure in the hell do now! Everytime I had ever liked a guy, you were there to swoop in and take him for yourself real quick, before I even had a chance!"

"That's not true…"

"Isn't it? Remember Dev? Who you knew that I liked at one point and the next thing I know, you kissed him and he pushed you away!"

"Trina, I didn't know that you liked him back then…"

"Oh and then...there's Cam. Sweet, handsome Cam, who I was at first trying to help get your attention, then we got taken hostage together and feelings began to grow, but when it looked like he and I were about to have something, guess who suddenly has an interest in Cam!"

"You decided that you rather just stay friends!"

"Because I valued both of your friendships more than I did a romance! You showed that you were interested in him and I knew that he had liked you too and I didn't want to be second choice, again! So yeah, I backed off! Which I'm fine with because, I rather have had Cam's friendship than romance with him!"

"I'm sorry…"

"But then Spencer came along. He came back to town, all tall, handsome, and mysterious. And he didn't even give you a second look. Yeah, he had a girlfriend, but let's face it. The minute we met, he was all about me...not you...and you couldn't stand that could you? You still can't. That there's actually a guy out there that prefers me over you. That had black, shy, me on the pedistal and not blond, volleyball playing you! And you can't stand that, so whenever you can, you slander Spencer and what we have, trying to make it seem unimportant, or wrong, or something to be pitied!"

"Trina, why would you say that? I had always supported you and Spencer!"

"Really? When he gave me that art book, you practically called me a side piece!"

"Well, he was with Esme then!"

"We were friends at the time! Friends give each other gifts, it didn't mean what you tried to make it mean! Something dirty and wrong and to be used to rub in the face of Spencer's then girlfriend Esme, which you did, after promising me that you'd keep it quiet!"

"Oh my god, you're still mad at me about that?"

"It's just one of the times when you were less of a friend to me. One of the many many times, that I was just too blind to see it!"

"Trina, no…"

"And now...you probably think that Spencer married me because he pitied poor, lonely Trina who can never get a man for herself."

"Trina."

"Forget that there were boys...like Adam...who actually liked ME. It's not just Spencer who looked over you and chose me for once and you fucking hate that, don't you Joss? You sit there on some high horse, looking down on Spencer and the rest of us. You accuse Spencer of being spoiled and entitled...and maybe he is...but he owns to it. He admits it and tries to change. But you...you put on this selfless act when you are anything but."

"Trina...please, just listen to me...I'm sorry…"

"Sometimes sorry just isn't enough, Joss. I thought you were my best friend...but now...I don't know what to think anymore. I just know that I've had it...and I just don't want to see you for while," Trina got to her feet, tears spilling from her eyes.

"Trina, wait, don't go. We can talk our way through this."

"No. We can't. Not right now. Just leave me and Spencer alone," Trina turned around and walked away, holding back her sobs until she was truly off campus. Spencer had dropped her off, claiming to be back for her after running an errand. Spotting a bench just near the entrance of the university, Trina sank down onto the bench and hid her face in her hands, letting her sobs escape at last.

"Now did my nephew mess up a good thing already? Tsk, the folly of young men," Victor Cassadine stood before her, looking at her with what could be construed as fake sympathy. It wasn't that he didn't like Trina. It was that he just didn't like anybody. He just couldn't understand why anyone would waste their time with silly things like emotions. Look at this poor slip of a thing. Crying over hurt feelings that his nephew had probably caused. Why such mistakes would reduce a smart person to such tears was beyond him.

Trina sighed as she noticed the Cassadine Patriarch. She was not in the mood to deal with anymore self indulgent priveleged self entitled people at the moment.

"Spencer didn't do anything, Mr. Cassadine. Don't worry about it," She sniffled and almost chuckled when a handkerchief was awkwardly handed to her.

"There, there now. Tears do not become a Cassadine, my dear. And that is what you are now. A Cassadine. It's time to grow a stiff upper lip," Victor lectured.

Trina accepted the handkerchief and wiped away her tears. She looked up at the older man and remembered her manners. "Thank you, Mr. Cassadine."

"Uncle Victor. There's no point in calling me Mr. Cassadine anymore. After all, you are family now."

"Uncle Victor, what do you think you're doing?" Spencer was heading towards them, looking alarmed and annoyed. The annoyance turned to anger when he noticed Trina's tear-filled eyes. He turned an angry glare on his Uncle. "She's crying! What did you do to her?! You leave Trina alone, do you hear me?!"

Victor held his hands up in defense, taken aback by Spencer's outburst. "Now, now, Spencer! I am not the cause of the young lady's tears! I was just offering my sympathy. She was already in tears when I found her here!"

"He's telling the truth Spencer. He's not the reason that I'm upset," Trina finished wiping away her tears.

"I don't get why everyone in this town thinks that I'm up to no good?" Victor frowned. "Really, Spencer. I expect this from your grandmother, but not my own newphew."

"Well you did approach Trina about that postnuptual agreement crap when I told you to drop it. So excuse me if I think that you're up to no good."

"I'm telling you! My concern over this family is so unappreciated! Take care of your lovely bride, Spencer. I am sure she can use your comfort. I will be leaving you now. Good day," Victor nodded, heading back to the waiting limo.

Spencer watched him go before taking a seat next to his sniffling wife. He placed a hand over hers, examining her face for any clue on what could be wrong.

"Are you sure that he didn't do anything?" Spencer asked, wanting to make sure that his Uncle really didn't try anything.

"Positive. He just awkwardly handed me a handkerchief and said tears didn't become a Cassadine."

"What happened? Did I do something?"

Trina just shook head. "It's not you. You'd never hurt me like this. I just...I want my mom!" She couldn't help it. She burst into renewed tears.

"Trina," Spencer wrapped his arms around her and held her close, wishing that she would just tell him what happened so that he could fix it.

Trina knew that she was confusing him, but she couldn't help it. She just didn't feel like he would understand why she was so hurt. Which would make it worse if he knew that it was because of Joss, because he would confront her and he was already furious over how she had treated Cam...she didn't want to think about his anger if she told him what Joss had just did and her own realizations.

"Do you want me to take you to your mom? I can do that…?" His heart ached, wishing that she felt like she could go to him with whatever this was, but if she felt like she couldn't, he'll take her somewhere where she felt safe enough to open up to someone.

Trina simply nodded. "I think today is her day off…"

"Ok, we'll try the house first, alright?"

Trina simply nodded and allowed Spencer to help her to her feet and over to the waiting car.
