Freya and Ratatoskr's fright was normal. Poseidon had fainted out of nowhere five minutes ago and while the two of them were discussing what to do, Poseidon got up quickly.
Still, Freya recovered first, '' You were out for 5 minutes. What happened?''
Poseidon stretched and grabbed his weapons, '' Yggdrasil spoke to me.'' He looked at Ratatoskr, '' She told me there's an even better way to help you.''
'' And what would that be?'' At the end of the day, Ratatoskr was still connected with Yggdrasil.
Poseidon laughed a bit, '' I just need to take the whole tree.''
Silence.
'' ... What did you say?'' Ratatoskr clearly heard what Poseidon said, he just wanted to make sure he didn't hear wrong.
'' You heard. Yggdrasil said it wouldn't be enough just to take a part of it.'' It was a lie. Poseidon forgot to mention Ratatoskr's situation. 'Yeah, it's my mistake.'
But Poseidon indeed wanted to take the whole tree. 'I just have to see if it's possible.'
'' Is that possible?'' Ratatoskr was doubtfull.
'' Yes.''
When Poseidon finished speaking, Freya said, '' But how do you ... talk with Yggdrasil? We never heard of anything like that.''
Poseidon sighed, '' Yggdrasil was here since the beginning of time. She gained intelligence many eons ago. She was the one who pulled my soul out, to have a talk.''
Ratatoskr touched Yggdrasil with affection, '' So you have intelligence. Why you never spoke with me?''
' That's true. Why didn't Yggdrasil talk with him?... Maybe it's because his soul is not strong enough?' Poseidon was almost certain that this was the reason, but he didn't say it out loud.
'' I don't know why, but I do know that she likes you quite a lot.''
Ratatoskr was surprised, '' She does?''
'' You took care of her for eos my friend. If she didn't like you a little bit, it would be weird.'' Poseidon then remembered something, '' Yggdrasil told me if the plan doesn't work, you can use this.''
Poseidon showed Freya and Ratatoskr the seed of Yggdrasil, '' It's a Yggdrasil seed. She said to plant anywhere in another realm and another tree should sprout after some time. You should be safe then.''
Ratatoskr took the seed into his tiny hands. He could feel a connection, albeit faint, with it, ' With only this, I should survive long enough to plant it again...' The squirrel looked at the tree, '' Thank you.''
Yggdrasil shook her 'body' as if saying ' you're welcome'.
After giving some time for Freya and Ratatoskr to digest everything, Poseidon said, '' How about we go to Asgard now? I'll take the tree with me when we are leaving.''
Even though it was a fast conversation, Poseidon and the others were running against time. The realm still would be destroyed in 4 days.
Freya went to Poseidon's side. Ratatoskr said his goodbye to Yggdrasil, '' See you soon.''
Now that Ratatoskr knew Yggdrasil had intelligence, he treated the tree even better than before.
Ratatoskr arrived close to Poseidon and Freya. He opened a portal to Asgard, '' Let's go.''
After that, the trio entered the portal.
ASGARD
One thing Poseidon noticed when he arrived in Asgard was that it was a little different from what is presented in the game. The big difference, however, is that the mountains in this realm were made of gold and not of stone.
Otherwise, everything was practically the same. Forests, rivers, and many other things were around the 'capital' of Asgard, where most beings lived.
The trio arrived almost at the center of Asgard. They noticed the other problem right away. Creatures of Chaos are attacking Asgard too. They could see the people fighting against them, but their numbers are too much for the Asgardians.
Freya closed her eyes, to focus and see if Odin was round. She said soon after, '' I can't sense Odin. He's not here.''
While Odin was not here, Freya sensed some 'friends', '' Thor, Heimdall, and Sif are still here, fighting against Chaos.''
She looked at the Asgardian being massacred. While they were at war before, Chaos was the legitimate true enemy. But it was difficult to just ignore what they did to her people over the years.
Poseidon knew what she was feeling, so he said, '' Let me handle it.''
Luckily for the Asgardians and unluckily for the Chaos creatures, the surrounding area was filled with water, making it a perfect area for Poseidon.
Poseidon began to manipulate the surrounding water, 'Let's see... how many would it take to kill all the creatures?'
This time Chaos wasn't messing around. The situation looked the same as it did when the Greeks helped the Egyptians. At that time, Chaos had more than a few hundred thousand in number, 'Is this twice as many? I'm not sure... It's amazing how Asgard hasn't fallen yet.'
Realizing that trying to focus on all the creatures wouldn't work, Poseidon changed his strategy, 'I'll focus on the Asgardians and make sure I don't hit them.'
As he did this, the water lances that Poseidon was making began to grow at an incredible pace. 100, 1000, 10000, 10000, and so on.
Freya and Ratatoskr felt a chill run down their spines. They could not imagine being on the receiving end of this attack.
The number of spears was so great that they blocked out the light coming from the sun, leaving Asgard in darkness.
When the Asgardians looked up and saw this scene, they despaired. They knew that when whoever was making the spears attacked, they would die.
Suddenly, Poseidon said, "Done.'' He then waved his hand, "Begone!''
Immediately, thousands of spears were thrown into Asgard.
SWISH
Alongise a gust of wind, death arrived at the Chaos creatures. Didnt matter where they are, almost all of them died, only a small number survived but were taken care of by the Asgardians. Of course, as Poseidon only limited himself to not hurting the Asgardians, all houses and buildings were destroyed.
Asgard, for better or worse, has fallen.
Freya looked at this scene with complex emotions. In the end, she sighed, '' Let's help the one who survived.''
Just when the trio was about to descend to the ground, 3 powerful Gods were coming in their direction. Freya recognized them, '' Thor, Heimdall, and Sif... I don't know if they want to fight.''
Poseidon didn't care that much. Literally, he was confident facing all Gods here and winning the fight.
It didn't take long for the trio from Asgard to arrive where the other trio was.
Heimdall demonstrated surprise by seeing Freya, and even more at seeing Poseidon, '' It's you...''
Poseidon nodded, '' Hello again.''
Thor looked at Heimdall and said in a furious voice, '' You know this person!? Are you the one who said to destroy Asgard!?''
This was the conclusion Thor arrived at after seeing Freya alongside the man who destroyed Asgard.
Before Heimdall could say anything, Sif tried to appease her husband, '' Dear, relax for a moment.''
Thor wanted to continue to scream at Heimdall, but even though he was a little bit dumb, he wasn't stupid. It's just that the situation made him mad.
After taking deep breaths, Thor focused his attention on Poseidon and Freya,'' Tell me, why did you destroy Asgard?''
Poseidon looked at them as if they were stupid, '' Are you serious?''
Thor was fuming by Poseidon's attitude, '' Of course, I am! We would be able to defend Asgard from our enemies! In fact, we were winning the fight!''
Poseidon doubted that, but he was curious about one thing, '' You guys don't know?''
Sif realized something was wrong, '' What do you mean?''
'' One second.'' Poseidon tried to use his powers to look at the condition of the Norse Realm, but he soon found out he couldn't. ' Wow. Someone strong put a barrier that doesn't let Gods or others beings see the Realm condition. They really don't know anything.'
Poseidon looked at them with pity, '' The entire Norse Realm will be destroyed in 4 days. I just tried to save as many Asgardians as I could.''
Heimdall was surprised, '' Impossible! I didn't sense anything!'' He tried to use his powers to look at the entire Norse Realm and finally noted something strange, ' It's the same thing as it was the last time I checked the Realm! Someone is messing with my powers!'
The Realm is the same as it was the other day Heimdall checked. This meant that the entire Realm didn't change a thing, even though some good days passed since Heimdall checked. He realized something was wrong thanks to this.
Heimdall was one of the Gods most affected when Chaos took away the ability to see the future. He eventually recovered his strength, but he relied too much on Odin and didn't imagine that someone could mess with his powers like this again without him noticing.
Thor waited for Heimdall to say something, but when he saw him getting pale, the God of Thunder finally realized the person in front of him was saying the truth. He pointed his hammer at Poseidon, '' Speak everything you know!''
Poseidon smiled at Thor, '' First, can you help the people below? Some of them are wounded.''
Sif snapped out of her surprise. She went to action. Before leaving, she looked at Thor, '' Behave.''
'' Wait.'' Ratatoskr said to Sif and the Goddess stopped. The squirrel said to Freya and Poseidon, '' I'll go help her.''
Freya and Poseidon nodded, '' Go.''
Sif, alongside Ratatoskr, went to look for her children and help the others.
When Sif left, Thor looked at Poseidon again, '' Speak.''
Poseidon then proceeds to tell the Gods everything. The Chaos invasion, how the Realm will be destroyed in 4 days, Odin's betrayals, the plan to leave the Realm, etc.
When Poseidon finished talking, he could notice Heimdall trembling. ' Why is he like this...? Oh, he did save Odin from me. I doubt it would change much, but I'm certain it accelerate the process. He must be guilty.''
Poseidon tried to say some words of comfort, '' It's not your fault. You saved a person who you thought you could trust. The destruction of the Realm would happen sooner or later.''
Thor looked at Heimdall, '' You saved Odin from him?''
Heimdall nodded.
Thor wanted to say something, but he held himself back. The God of Thunder was also loyal to Odin, so he could not say he would not help the All-Father.
But Thor also knew how Odin was relentless in search of power. So when Poseidon told them Odin went to Chaos side, he believed right away.
'' ARGHHHHHH!'' When the realization that all is lost hit Thor, he screamed at the top of his lungs.
When he finally stopped, Thor looked at Poseidon and Freya, '' Now what?''
Poseidon was waiting for that, '' I can't promise much, because I don't even know for how long we can hold against Chaos. But I can promise you one thing.''
Thor waited for Poseidon to continue.
'' A chance.''
'' For what?''
'' To have revenge against Odin. Against Chaos. And to live another life, one where you can live in peace without having to fear Odin and his actions.''
'' What's the catch?''
Poseidon shook his head, '' No catch. We just need to win the war against Chaos.''
'' How confident are you of winning?'' Thor asked.
Poseidon smiled bitterly, '' Honestly? Not even 50% ... But!'' Poseidon knows Thor's personality a little, '' I promise you the fight of your life. Even the prophecies of Ragnarok would be small in front of the fight we will have.''
When Thor heard that, he simply stared at Poseidon. Freya even thought the God of Thunder would attack.
But soon after, Thor started to laugh out loud, '' HAHAHAHAHA. I'm in.''
'' That's it?'' Freya didn't trust Thor's words.
'' That's it. To be honest, I don't care that much about the Realm or the others, I just want to fight.'' Thor smacked his belly. Then he looked at Heimdall, '' What about you?''
Heimdall changed a lot over the years, so much so that he had a small friendship with Thor. So when he heard even Thor was going to fight, he said, '' I'm in... But let me tell you, I want Odin's head.''
Even though he know it was not his fault what had happened, Heimdall still was pissed.
Freya snorted, '' Enter the line.''
Poseidon looked relieved, ' I didn't want to have to fight and possibly kill them. So it's good we arrived at an agreement.'
'' Now, how about we help Sif and Ratatoskr?'' Poseidon said and didn't wait for them to rest to respond. Freya followed suit.
'' Wait!'' Thor called out to Poseidon while following him.
'' What is it?''
'' I don't know your name.''
'' You can call me Poseidon.''
The book content was filled with information about Chaos. Poseidon was glad he went looking for it, '' Thr d, this is amazing! Good job.''
'' Thank you! But what are we going to do with that thing?'' Thr d pointed at the portal in the middle of the room.
Poseidon stared at the portal, ' Hmmm, should I risk it and enter? ... No, let's not do that. I can launch an attack, to see if there's any reaction.'
'' Let me do something first.'' Poseidon made a spear with the water around the place and attack the portal.
The water spear passed the portal. 1 second, 10 seconds.
After 1 minute without reaction, Poseidon said to Thr d, '' Leave it alone. It doesn't matter that much now.''
If they had found this portal before the Norse Realm was destroyed, it would be a big problem. But now, it really doesn't matter that much. It's just another portal.
Thr d nodded, '' Okay.''
Poseidon looked around the place some more. When he saw there was nothing more to grab, he said, '' Let's go back. We found what we needed.''
After getting out of Odin's room, Poseidon and Thr d returned to where everyone was. Freya noted Poseidon first, '' Do you found anything important?''
While Thr d went to Sif and Thor's side, Poseidon answered, '' We found this.''
Poseidon showed them the book, '' It contains information about Chaos. I don't know if they're real or not, or if he has much, but it's a start.''
Freya grabbed the book and looked inside. She stopped after a while, '' ... I know Odin for long enough to know he's not stupid to put vital information in a book like this. It could be a trap or something.''
Heimdall, who was once one of Odin's most trusted 'allies', also said the same thing as Freya, '' Don't trust the content that much.''
Poseidon nodded, '' I know. I will pass this to Mimir and my wife when we return home.''
Ratatoskr perked up, '' Your wife?''
Poseidon smiled thinking of Athena, '' Her name is Athena. She's the goddess of wisdom in my realm.''
Freya looked down a bit. She started to mumble a bit, ' Maybe she's open to another woman in his life...?'
No one heard what Freya said.
'' So, are we done here?'' Ratatoskr asked Poseidon.
Poseidon looked around and noticed everyone was mostly ready. Still, he looked at Sif, Thor, and Heimdall, '' Are your people ready to leave?''
Sif nodded right away, '' We are.''
'' Good.'' Poseidon looked at Ratatoskr, '' Can you give us a ride?''
Ratatoskr said nothing and opened up a portal to Midgard.
'' Let's go.'' Poseidon, alongside Freya, was the first group of people who passed through the portal.
Next, Sif went alongside her family. Then, finally, all of the remaining Asgardians went through the portal.
Ratatoskr looked around and made sure that no one else was there. He took a last look at Asgard, the once mighty realm, which was now in taters and will disappear soon.
'' Goodbye.''
With the last goodbye, Ratatoskr also entered the portal.
Just like that, Asgard was now empty, with no life in sight.
MIDGARD
When Poseidon and Freya arrived at Laufey's house, they noticed the number of people around the area was bigger than before they went to Asgard, '' What could've happened?''
'' No idea. Let's ask the others.''
Knocking on the door to the house, the duo heard '' coming'' from the inside. The person who opened the door was Atreus, '' Oh! It's you guys! Daddddd! Poseidon and Freya are back!''
Atreus then said, '' I'll go back to playing with Angrboda. Bye!''
Poseidon smiled at that, '' He reminds me of my son.''
''They are at the same age?'' Freya asked. ' ... I don't know much about him at all.'
'' My son and daughter are only a few months apart from each other, and I think Atreus is the same age.''
Freya started to remember Baldur at that age, '' ... I miss when Baldur at that age.''
Poseidon patted her shoulder, '' I'm sure he was ... cute at that age.''
Freya looked at Poseidon's hand on her shoulder, '' ... He sure was.''
Kratos arrived soon after, '' You guys arrived. We have a lot to talk about.''
Inviting the duo in, Kratos lead them toward a place where a few people were gathered. All Greeks, together with Brok, Sindri, Mimir, and someone new.
When Freya saw the new addition, she exclaimed, '' Sigrun!''
Sigrun, a famous Valkirie and Mimir lover. She bowed slightly when she saw Freya, '' My Queen. It's good to see you.''
Freya also was happy to see her old friend, '' I'm also happy to see you! But how are you here? Aren't you supposed to be Odin's guard?''
Sigrun looked guilty, '' Our sisters and I noted something was wrong with Odin some time ago. So we thought we were prepared to help people if something happened. But suddenly Odin sent us away for a mission and banned us from returning to Asgard until we completed it.''
Freya paused, '' Which mission?''
'' To kill all mortals or God in Midgard.'' Sigrun sighed at this point, '' We knew something was wrong with that order, so we didn't plan to follow it. But we made contact with someone I never thought I would meet again.''
'' Mimir.''
Sigrun nodded, '' I didn't resist and talked with him. It was then he explained what the deal with Odin was. We tried to immediately return to Asgard, but Odin put some barrier around the realm, and we couldn't enter.''
'' But Mimir told us that Freya and an outsider went to Asgard. He said you guys would handle things there, we just need to wait.'' Sigrun looked at Freya, '' ... How is Asgard?''
Fryea sighed, '' Destroyed. Just like every one of the 9 realms will be in 3 days... How many of our sisters are with you?''
'' 50.''
'' That's good. That's good.'' Freya was happy to see some of her sisters survive.
'' But I doubt these many people are here to see our reunion. What do we need to discuss?'' Freya sat on the ground and waited for the main topic to begin.
Mimir coughed and changed the subject, '' We are done.''
Freya tilted her head, '' What do you mean?''
'' As of now, if you want, we can safely leave the Norse Realm.'' Mimir said as a matter of fact.
'' Are you sure? We only checked Vanaheim, Asgard, Helheim and Midgard. The other 5 realms must have some survivors.''
'' We will leave the task to search for survivors to Ratatoskr... Where's he by the way?'' Mimir asked about the missing squirrel.
Freya hesitated a bit, '' Ratatoskr is ... with Thor, Sif, and their children.''
Mimir stiffened a bit when he heard that. Mind you, he was tortured for decades by Modi and Magni, so he really didn't like both of them. Thor was just a puppet of Odin, he really didn't matter.
Still, this wasn't the time to act on grudges. Mimir sighed internally, ' I will do something about them, but not now...'
'' Let them in when they arrive.'' Mimir said that but as soon as he stopped talking, he heard someone say '' We are already here.''
Looking back, Mimir saw Thor and his entire family inside the house, alongside Ratatoskr.
Sigrun went behind Mimir, to show she was with him in case they decided to fight.
The tension was high in the house. But Ratatoskr, who didn't care that much about the conflict between Thor's family and Mimir, started to talk, '' We saved as many Asgardians as we could. Now what?''
'' Mimir said we are ready to leave if we want to.'' Poseidon responded to Ratatoskr.
'' What!? What about the realm we didn't visit?'' Ratatoskr didn't like that one bit.
'' That's where you enter.'' Mimir told Ratatoskr his role, '' You will enter the realms we didn't enter and see if there's any survivor. If there's one, you call us. Also, you're free to call us if you see an enemy.''
Ratatoskr sighed. '' I will take a vacation after all of this is over.''
'' How long until you search the other 5 realms?''
Ratatoskr thought for a while in a funny posture, '' Maybe ... 1 hour or so?''
'' That fast?'' Poseidon was surprised by that time.
Ratatoskr looked proud, '' I'm connected to Yggdrasil. Searching people in the realms is a piece of cake.''
Mimir was glad, '' Ok, there's no time to lose then. Go ahead and call us if you need help.''
Ratatoskr disappeared in a portal, his destination being one of the realms unexplored.
Mimir looked around, '' Grab all your things and be prepared to leave in an instant.''
After that, all people gathered scattered all over the place. Some went to grab their things, and others went to make things.
Poseidon stayed in the house. Freya asked him, '' Do you need to prepare anything?''
'' No. I'm ready to leave as soon as Ratatoskr comes back. I'll be on guard in case the squirrel needs help with something.''
Freya nodded. While Poseidon didn't have much to do, she had, ' Talk with my sister, see how Baldur is doing...'
Thinking of all things she still had to do, Freya said goodbye to Poseidon, '' See you soon.''
Then, Freya left Laufey's house. The only people on standby in case Ratatoskr need help were Poseidon and Kratos. The Spartan was in another room, with Laufey, Atreus, and Angrboda.
Poseidon was getting homesick by now, ' I miss Athena and the kids.'
Poseidon almost took out the communicator to talk with them, but he held himself back, ' No need. We are almost home.'
With nothing better to do, Poseidon closed his eyes and waited.
